Finished main quest in pic related, fricking around before I start the dlc, is odyssey good too? I put this one off for so long because I was butthurt about the diversion for the ac formula, but it's actually just a fun game. I might replay brotherhood and revelations tho, only did those once

odyssey is just a bigger origins
if you don't mind the historical inaccuracies you'll have fun
        valhalla however is garbage

What connection does valhalla even have to the lore?

You meet hidden ones and the order of ancients is sneaking around doing dastardly deeds.

it establishes that in addition to sages, people can be outright reincarnations of isu. Eivor is Odin. yeah, mild spoilers but it's obvious. They lean heavily into Norse and Arthurian mythos.

        What makes unity so good

bugs aside, the parkour is different in a good way, and how you approach assassinations with assessing everything was a fun mechanic.

Unity was immediately trashed because it was so buggy as shit so it never got a lot of attention, so not a lot of people played it. it was a very good evolution of the base game, but since it did shitty and Syndicate was meh, that forced Ubi to reevaluate the franchise so we got the ancient trilogy

Origin had a better atmosphere, almost trippy at times. There is no another AC game like this. It was a lightning in a bottle and I don't think Ubisoft themselves know how they did it.

When you have a thousand cooks at least a few of them will make something decent. Origins was definitely that, a mostly generic ubisoft open world checklist with some actual good moments in between.

Replaying Odyssey right now. if you don't mind the series getting even weirder with the lore and throwing all isu bullshit out the window, you'll probably enjoy it.
like the other anon said, it is very long. there are parts where the plot is good, and parts where it sucks.

Play as Kassandra she has the better performance overall. plus you get to see Greek girl abs.

      Does she have cool armor/outfits?

        Anonymous

yeah. theres an exclusive armor set for each sibling, and hers is a Wonder Woman getup that looks really good.

the micro transaction Athena armorset is the best for exposing her abs and back.

I never played the dlc story content, but it's supposed to be not terrible. you meet the guy who created the hidden blade, and then head to Atlantis after the main story.

The ancient trilogy, while definitely going way off rails, has been overall fun imo.

the modern day story still sucks ass, but fricking around Egypt, Greece, and England was enjoyable.

I am really interested to see how they've approached Red, because a Japan setting has been wanted since the beginning. but g
Ghost of Tsushima mogged the piss out of the whole AC: ninja Japan concept.
I think if they combine the mythology wackiness (but tone it down a bit) and do a true blue Assassin as the MC, it'll be interesting.
I really hope the modern day gets at least a little interesting too

Odyssey is way more copypaste but the combat is better I guess. If you like ship combat and ancient greece you will enjoy it if you enjoyed origins just be aware it's like twice as long.

any of these ubi games have like, diablo tier loot autism? maybe not in the 'something drops 300 boots' way but like, where gears a thing and matters, i havnt kept up for shit since black flag. fun boat simulator but the trailing missions can eat a bag of boiled buttholes.

Yeah that's pretty much odyssey, if you even want to assassinate someone in one hit you need the right gear and build. Origins just had cosmetic gear besides weapons and permanent stat increases with monster pats. No idea about valhalla.

Odyssey is much more fun, it's a much more care free game, and if you play it for the journey, instead of going with the idea that you want the next chapter in the AC story, it will be comfy and kino. Odyssey can hardly be called AssCreed. But it is fun as a game to relax while playing, roaming the beatiful world, talking with different characters, shit like that.

No you’re right, particularly the sidequests are just so fricking dogshit it almost hurts to watch
I only played it for the architecture and clothes, but they fricked up on that by putting in a bunch of fantasy bullshit instead of basic famous landmarks like the Long Wall of Athens

If you like sailing and virtual tourism then Odyssey fun, but it’s a step back from Origins in terms of gameplay because they tried to make it a shitty RPG and they suck at game design
also the writing in Odyssey vacillates between “Barely tolerable” and “the worst machine-written garbage ever”

It fixed most of the problems Origins introduced to the series.
          >No more diablo-shit loot
          >No more level restrictions preventing you from progressing into high tier zones
          >Grinding is minimal, you will get all the loot you need throughout the story, anything else is extra
          >Combat revamped slightly compared to other RPG games in a good way, enemies aren't unresponsive meat walls who can withstand to three hundred sword slashes anymore, not even the bosses are like that
          >Hidden blade assassinations are finally one-hit regardless of enemy level
          >Implemented social stealth back(even when it's useless 99% of the time)
          >Only game in the RPG trilogy with blackbox missions
          >Modern day story of Layla finally gets a conclusion
          >New modern day protagonist(Basim) is great, best playable character in the series since Edward

What I hate about Odyssey was the constant gear race. I despise shit that makes me constantly have to swap out all of my equipment because three missions lift my two levels and completely outlevel all my shit.

I loved Origins, but I skipped the 2 "sequels" just like I skipped Syndicate
I don't think you're gonna miss much unless you like absurd maps and bloated content

      >bloated content
I wouldn't mind Syndicate being more bloated. That game felt like one huge missing opportunity. The environment was cool to navigate through, but the actual gameplay and the story were pathetic. Plus there were too few interiors.
