Hone Claws requires a turn of set up and only stat you’re boosting that isn’t for the shitty lower accuracy is Atk. You have to use a turn with it and you’re skipping out on other moves like Dragon Dance or coverage.
Also that’s what GameFreak did when they made Z moves and Dynamax.

It is technically, but because hail no longer exists, overcoat only protects from powders and sandstorms. So since many overcoat users are grass types and many others are steel types, they're left with half an ability. And in many cases they already have a superior alternative anyways: magic guard, sap sipper, skill link, etc.

If overcoat also protected from hazards, it would be a huge boost without being broken. Mandibuzz could get away with running an item other than HDB, overcoat reuniclus could be a viable alternative vs magic guard reuniclus

Truant: self-affecting status moves don't consume the active turn, so you could use slack off, protect, or anything else on the active turn then still move afterward.
