Long doto player here, the compendium is a pretty israelitey scheme, the best rewards that cant be traded cost a moderate amount to get, not counting stuff like level 1k roshan.
The stuff that drops from limited chests that has low drop chance exists mostly to stimulate market trades, but it can be bought.
Overwatch probably wont have item trading so I would say 99% of skins and items should be easily obtainable, either by buying premium pass or some events.

the idea of the healer role is inherently flawed, the tank role is too, but to a lesser extent.
everyone, understandably, just wants to fricking shoot things thats why they downloaded and launched a FPS game. the role shit has only created issues and dragged down the game
I think the existence of Medic mains in TF2 prove this wrong. Some people like being backline helpers.
firstly, tf2 doesn't really have generalized roles, each class is its own role. the medic isn't a healer, the medic is the medic.
secondly: context. playing healers/supports or similar mechanically unsatisfying roles is a different story when done in a organized, competitive environment. in that scenario, playing a support is fine because every role matters and it feels good to contribute to your team and win, but in matchmaking with randoms? why would i ever want to play a healer/support when the match doesn't matter, it's just matchmaking everyone's here just to mess around and shoot eachother to kill time.
I guess im an outlier than. My aim is ass and dont care to practice to make it better but have always had good game sense so support has always been my go to. Id rather prop others up than drag my team down.
medic tf2 is fun because you can still feel like a god since he carries the whole team
paladins also does healers pretty well (sometimes) in my opinion, Io (
) and Furia are tons of fun
Io because you can shooty to heal more build and stun/defend with dog so you aren't just a heal dispenser and Furia because the healing is instant button and you can shoot shit and it's fun, also one of her talents makes it so you can heal a frickton if you are skilled and coordinated
