There's also Azur Promilia, Project Mugen and Duet Night Abyss. All cool looking action game, but of course they gotta be gacha.
I fricking hate gacha so much. the business model is way too profitable that there's no incentive to make anything not-gacha anymore.

I don't even mind the pulling of characters. I like just beating the game with what RNGesus gives me. But the materials grind in these games is so dumb, exhausting and unnecessary.

        Anonymous

In normal games, when you're stuck, you can just grind for an hour or two, get stronger, beat the boss and progress the story until you eventually beat the game. you experienced the entire game to the fullest. this isn't possible in gacha. it's an endless grind for an endlessly ongoing pointless story padding, which only purpose is to make sure the game never ends. you will NEVER have a complete experience with gacha.

I think youre getting a little hung up on this "complete experience" thing. many things in life arent "complete experiences" but still worth your time. (not saying gachas are worth your time albeit, just questioning your line of thinking).

      gacha/live service make sure ethat
      1. story never gets finished to milk endless content
      2. difficulty balance is whack, either too easy to make sure casuals don't get stuck or too hard (stats check) to whalebait
gacha as a monetization system ruins video games.

        cont.
You know that a gacha game will forever be INCOMPLETE due to its live service nature.
is there even a single gacha game with a concise, complete story? most of the time they just get axed/left incomplete because of EoS
The only gacha near completion I know are FGO and GFL and those are like 10 years old games.
How long would it take for the more popular gachas like Genshin, Star Rail, Nikke, Blue Archive, Arknights, Azur Lane etc to be completed?

          Anonymous

isn't Dragalia's story finished before EoS ? Implausible as it may be, Mihomosexual games do have an expiry date set mentioned somewhere.

        >story never gets finished to milk endless content
FGO sort of changed this. Now most story centric gacha have some sort of road map set up in advance to give players an impression of how long the 'main' story will receive updates.

FGO could've ended last year after Lostbelt, but because it's gacha and the devs can't allow the game to die, they introduced a brand new filler arc.

        Azur Lane already solved this.
        >Minimize assets needed for base characters to be added, then make money through skin sales.
        >Generously reward players with cubes and drop in events whose main attractions are the girls' personalities
        >Balance content in such a way that your waifu(s) never truly fall off
        >Add in a (relatively) robust gearing system for specialization
        It's good.

Yeah Japan is usually pretty good at figuring out formula loops that are confirmed to work. Just look at the anime industry its exactly the same as it was 10-15 years ago. They figured out the loop so everything is repackaged but with the artists' OCs and the stories usually follow the same concepts for that specific genre.

nah, japan is losing real hard to CN and KR in gacha competition. they only have archaic FGO, some niche idolshit and the already-losing-steam Uma Musume.

If you don't do dailies, you don't get free currency to roll
if you don't roll you can't strengthen your party
perhaps it's better this way, being underpowered, more challenge,

I don't mind the concept of gacha as long as it's limited to gambling for characters but when you have to gamble for 5 copies of the same character to completely unlock it and you also have to gamble for weapons is when I draw the line which has also just sadly become the norm for the industry thanks to Mihomo.
