Download BonziBuddy then delete System 32, for the purposes of planned obsolescence Microsoft puts a 32GB garbage folder on every Windows install to gradually slow down your computer over time
"chef kiss"
Play some Unreal Tournament against hard bots on DM-Phobos
godlike bots
instagib
>old school gaming pc
what era? XP / Vista will only take you so far back, win98 can take you all the way back to the early 80s.
i'd suggest a SCSI to compact flash whatever you decide to do with it.
i'm definitely open to installing any different operating system.
win98 for 90s games
winxp for 2000s games
win7 for 2010s games
What hardware? You are getting nowhere without a graphics card.
intel core 2 duo, 4gb RAM, integrated graphics haha. planning on going parts salvaging tomorrow, I agree that a graphics card will be pretty important.
snoop around the files for a little bit and then bin it
>core 2 duo
play ALL the source games
install windows 7, use the classic theme, then a bunch of old games
I recommend getting Batocera or EmuElec running on it, then you can emulate older consoles or computers depending on your preference. For computer stuff definitely check out MSX, PC-98, and Sharp X68000 at some point, there's a lot more out there than just DOS.
thanks for the recommendations, I definitely want to look more into the MSX. I found a collection of Compile's Disc Station Magazine CD-Roms on archive.org and have been enjoying myself going through them so far.
There's also FM Towns which I've never been able to emulate, and the Euro computers (C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga etc.) which have a very active homebrew community, but I still kind of prefer the Japanese computers.
install xp and enjoy the best pc gaming has to offer
what games
everything from the xp era on down

Can you download and install this and tell me how it is and feels to play?
i just installed doom an a pc i found on the side of the road
It's possible someone wiped their ass with that PC before throwing it out. You might have aids now.
Install freedos.
>Finds old PC
>Too moronic/lazy to clean install an OS
>Just deletes stuff from the user folder
>Does no upgrades, leaving whatever low spec it is
>Connects it to the internet
>Plays Runescape
All you homosexuals do this all the time and makes fricking youtube videos about it. Just throw it back in the trash
What upgrades do you recommend I perform
OG Diablo 2, of course.
Give it back Jamal.
does it have XP drivers?
XP and 7 "retro" gaming PCs are a meme. They work fine on modern Windows. There's also hardly any PC games from that era that are better on CRT.
I can name multiple games that only work properly on 98 and XP. Go get the game Nocturne running on modern windows without literal 10 minute load times for the menu.
>98
When did I said 98? I said XP and 7. Btw 98 stuff work great in Linux.
Nocturne Release Date October 28, 1999
You can't name XP games without fixes. Also games released during release date of XP are technically 98 games.
all I ever find on the side of the road are POC
Install windows 11 on that beaut.
What are the components? If it supports XP I'd install XP and buy a cheap EAX sound card off flea bay. Proper EAX doesn't work correctly most of the time on modern windows. Plus a lot of games just run easier on XP over newer OSes.
This is my list of Windows XP/Vista era good PC Games:
The Ship
Garry's Mod
Audiosurf
Age of Mythology
Anno 1404
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Arx Fatalis
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Europa Universalis III
Fallout: New Vegas
FlatOut
Freelancer
Gothic II
Half-Life 2
Left 4 Dead
Mount & Blade: Warband
Neverwinter Nights 2
Portal
