Four games to play the rest of your life. That's all you are allowed. They can be across any platform, but cannot be compilations. What do you pick?

Postal 2
Can I pick Doom 3 on xbox or does that count as a comolation as it contains the original dooms? Can I pick DK64 or does that also not count as it contains the original Donkey Kong? Can I pick Day of the tenticle even if it contains manaic mansion?
>Can I pick DK64
Why would you even do that?
The high IQ choice here is not to pick your all time favs but what you think actually has replayability and depth. For me it's probably
Monster Hunter (the newest one, but if you want retro rules than the newest retro one which should be Dos)
A comfy arena shooter like Team Fortress 2 if multiplayer counts
Something with strategy like Age of Empires 2 or Hogs of War if I'm allowed to fast forward during enemy turns
Probably a snappy fun racing game that's not too serious, Mario Kart, Burnout 3
Runners up would be something like Tony Hawk, Yu-Gi-Oh, a GTA and a big Zelda game, ideally the upcoming one
If non-retro is allowed then it probably would look different, definitely something like Super Mario Maker 2 since it has infinite levels
>Why would you even do that?
I could ask myself that about every game posted here. Imagine playing Metroid Dread or fricking God of War over and over again
>noooo you can't like good games
>you have to play obscure garbage like Hogs of War to be a nu-hipster
Get a life and stop attention-whoring, hipster.
What game on his list is fricking obscure lmao
Why reply to a post when you haven't even read it?
get a load of the homosexual who thinks:
tf2
monster hunter
age of empire
hogs of war
mario kart
burnout
tony hawk
yugioh
gta
zelda
mario
are obscure
kys
>tf2
Nu-hipster
This is your type of humor, zoomer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2zslotULm4
>hogs of war
Literally who for nu-hipsters
>burnout
Literally who for nu-hipsters
>tony hawk
Literally who for nu-hipsters
Go back to your zoomer boards.
REEE YOU CANT ENJOY OBJECTIVELY GOOD, WELL KNOWN, MAINSTREAM GAMES OR YOU ARE A ZOOOOMER
again - kys
>REEE
Stop rage posting.
You cannot get more zoomer than TF2, illiterate zoomer.
>tony hawk
>Literally who for nu-hipsters
>A game that sold 3.5 million copies and got a dozen sequels is "obscure" and "literally who" and for "nu-hipsters"
Here's your (you), you absolute homosexual.
Ask Tony himself, nobody seems to recognize him.
He's a self-admitted literal who.
Well, I'd think the point of not picking your favorite games is so that you'd never get sick of it. I love Super Metroid. I'd hate to make myself sick of Super Metroid. That's why I only replay it every 5 years or so.
That's why my list had YGO and 3S; they're what I would play most of the time. Metroid and GoW to change it up every now and then.
you can't like good games
>>you have to play obscure garbage like Hogs of War to be a nu-hipster
I didn't say that. I said you should pick what you like that has replayability
What a weird post
>backpedaling
Love to see it
>Can I pick Doom 3 on xbox
Are you performing self punishment?
Are mods and fan content allowed? Because then all I need is Doom 2. Maybe add Morrowind and Deus Ex for variety. And not retro but the Sims 3
I know this is /vr/, but this is my list:
>God of War III
>Metroid Dread
>Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011
>Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
To explain the reasoning:
Yu-Gi-Oh! is a card game, so you can always try new decks and variations, so it feels quite open-ended. 2011 because that's the last game in the synchro era, and I'm not interested in Xyz and later additions.
3rd Strike because it's one of my two favorite fighting games. I'd pick USF4, but it's delay-based rather than rollback, so no one plays it. 3S has rollback on Fightcade.
The other two I find highly replayable, so I'd play them when I'm bored of the first two. They also have some challenge modes and whatnot.
If I HAD to go retro, I'd choose the retro counterparts:
>God of War II
>Super Metroid
>Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2006
>Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Ultra Street Fighter
Tech Romancer
WWF No Mercy
Typing Viper
Replace no mercy with Revenge and you got a top list.
Grand Prix 3
Simcity 4
Championship Manager 01/02
Morrowind
Halo 1 (the others suck)
Morrowind (the others suck)
Assetto Corsa (near endless mod content)
MGSV (endless FOB pillaging and base management)
Daggerfall
HoMM3
Freespace 2
Thief 2
Gran Turismo 4
Disgaea
LMA Manager 2007
Tetris
Morrowind
Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock Edition
The Godfather: The Game
Warlords Battlecry II
let's pretend i'm 12 years old again or this thread isn't interesting. warcraft 3 because it's the goat and it's the only one i really need. modded baldurs gate 1 and 2 for when it's time to relax and not pay attention. smash bros to hang out with my cousins.
Do you get DLC?
Can I play games with other people, and must the games be retro? If so:
>VF4FT
>Samsho VI
>Tekken 4
>Guilty Gear Isuka
I think I'd lose my fricking mind if I could only play four singleplayer games for the rest of my life but I can never get tired of fighting games. These aren't strictly my favorite but I love them still.
When the day comes that Ultra Street Fighter IV is considered retro, you'll all see.
We need the cut off year to be 2009 so we can discuss street fighter 4. How the frick is 2007 any more retro than 2009?
Damn Capcom for taking away this banger. Didn't realise Flo Rida had something to do with it.
Doesn't matter if we're 50 years into the future and USF4 is now hella retro.
You DON'T want it on your list.
The SF4 series was made during the puberty of gaming.
It was made before rollback was popular and the norm.
And it isn't retro enough like SF3 and earlier, where you can play them on Fightcade with rollback, nor even mod it to have rollback, since the game code is too complex.
SF4's netcode is legit better than SF5's and if I'm playing local it wouldn't matter even IF SF4's netcode was shit because I'd just play it with my friends which I do anyway, local is better than online, and SF4 is one of the best fighting games ever made
Dwarf Fortress
Warhammer 3
Pokemon Platinum
Cyberpunk
OP says nothing about fan-made levels.
I think I could get by with just DOOM. Enough fan-made levels to last a lifetime.
Pokemon Yellow
Pokemon Silver (would be Crystal but lack of Mareep is a dealbreaker)
Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Platinum
Replace Emerald with Sapphire because:
1) May is still a Tomboy
2) Kyogre is better than Groudon
Pic Related
Civilization IV
The Sims 2
Tony Hawk Underground 2 (+THUGPRO)
GTA San Andreas (+mods/SAMP/MTA)
Everquest, pokemon silver, Diablo 2, warcraft 3. If this was ALL I could play I'd be fine as long as servers were up. I could definetly improve my options if modern options were allowed or I could mod stuff/bend the rules.
I'd also probably replace diablo 2 with halo 2 if people were still playing it and the servers were online.
Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Marvel vs Capcom 2
Out Run
Smash Bros
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Sonic 3 & Knuckles if that counts as a single game. If not then I choose Sonic 2.
FE4, Super Mario RPG, Dark Souls, Civ V/CK2
Civ 4
Dwarf Fortress
CS 1.6
Uhhhhhhhhhh man I really need a SNES game. Idk if I could play LTTP, SMW, or DK3 forever though. Maybe Chronotrigger?
Frick it, Diablo 2R I'm getting that fricking Trangs Set legitimately
Binding of Isaac
Team Fortress 2
Morrowind
Diablo 2
GTA San Andreas
Doom
Manhunt
Super Mario 3
I guess I would find a compilation of old arcade games/atari games with the most games, GTA 4 with all DLC, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Ultima 7 with the Black Gate. Almost made the list: Fallout 2, Skyrim, Mario All Stars, Wipeout 3, Deus Ex, Duke Nukem with all DLCs
A PS1 is all I need.
1. Crash Bandicoot (1996/PS1)
2. Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (1999/PS1)
3. Spider-Man (2000/PS1)
4. Winning Eleven 2002 (2002/PS1)
Lego Star Wars
SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain
Stardew Valley
Crash Bandicoot 2
never heard of Winning Eleven, but the other three are based
Why are cats so lewd?
>never heard of Winning Eleven, but the other three are based
Thanks! Winning Eleven is Konami's football/soccer simulation series, probably the most popular one alongside EA's FIFA series, before Konami pulled the plug and made the new eFootball at least... either way, I grew up loving this sport, so having a way to play it on my PS1 is a must for me.
If I can play romhacks / mods with said games:
>Super Mario 64
>Pokemon Silver/Gold
>Final Fantasy Tactics
>Morrowind
>Mega Man X
>WoW
>StarCraft
>Halo
zelda 3
secret of mana
super mario world
super metroid
dang that took no time at all
no wait i need to get final fantasy 1 in there
but what to replace
and it's not going to be secret of mana
guess i'll have to drop super metroid, rip
Street Fighter Zero 3
Ocarina of Time
Puyo Puyo Sun
The latest Splatoon (kind of a cheat, but I like the online)
>What do you pick?
Dangerous Dave - DOS
Super Mario 3D world
Pixel Ripped 1995: On the Road
Overcooked
Resident evil village
Bioshock
>Age of Empires 2
>Deus Ex
>Doom
>Final Fantasy Tactics
gta san andreas cause it's my favorite game (a mistake, but most here made 4 mistakes). if multiplayer is allowed fun will be unlimited.
gran tursismo 4 cause it's huge. i love the series and hasn't played this one yet. the handling is relatively realistic to be useful practice for irl.
could be replaced with any more recent gt, rfactor, ac, of god forbid iracing.
nethack i guess or what is the biggest roguelike. i haven't played actual roguelikes, only rogue. is there adventure mode in dwarf fortess?
binding of isaac remake cause i like the game and some people play it forever i think, true for many games though.
civ the latest one, haven't played this series or genre either.
guilty gear, the cool one, i don't play fighting games but why don't start.
who cares what 4 of these i pick.
i'll keep it to one console
Road Rash 3
Mutant League Football
Streets of Rage 2
Forgotten Worlds
