Why can't they just hire more people?

They don't need more people. They need competent people.

Literally just hire more modders. They're autistic enough to make everything work in this spaghetti engine, and they're definitely more passionate about the game than 90% of mojang employees.

Modders are radioactive. They are exceedingly vocal online and more often than not they are a PR nightmare waiting to happen. Most of them are redditor tier perverts, trans, pedos, etc. They are not viable hires.

    >Mojang Studios[a] is a first-party game developer for Xbox Game Studios. It is primarily known for the creation and development of Minecraft. Located in multiple locations around the world, Mojang Studios has 713 employees
This is modern video game development. 700 employees with Microsoft backing and money, and they can't handle adding 3 mobs. Guaranteed that 70% of the company is deadweight bloat.

my guess is because the gay devs can just cry about how theyre not getting paid enough for such a "massive amount of work", using "i work at the most sold videogame on the planet" as an excuse to bloat the shit out of their wage
it probably costs hundreds of thousands to convince the devs to add a single mob in this game

    >minecraft AI
You mean the few lines of code that tell it to walk around aimlessly like every other mob, flew when attacked if passive and occasionally do it's one or two mob-exclusive actions(explode/shoot player/eat grass/etc)? Truly a feat requiring months of testing and fine-tweaking.

you should actually check out the codebase for the mob AI, it's absurdly overengineered.
Back when I used to mod the game I would always circumvent it because it was fucking deranged and would constantly result in bugs.

The most complex one would be the Rascal. That's pretty much all new functionality.
Sniffer will probably use a modified herbivore AI (sometimes eats grass, creating an item from a custom loot pool).
Tuff Golem has a bit of a unique part of its AI, which is returning to its point of creation, but that's it.

Little secret that they will never ever EVER tell you, is that everything is psychological. By releasing content extremely slowly, it keeps the game from being bloated and keeps people excited for more.

The entire game industry these days is a physiological chess game

if modders can add what they have with no financial backing whatsoever, then I question whether or not the people currently working hard to ruin this once great game have any reason to stay on as hires.
