>game is released
>balance is great and allows a variation of different skills, tactics and strategy
>game keeps getting updated and updated adding more and more powercreep and being forced to double down on it
>game is now nothing like it used to be
Why does this always happen?

Z > OG
This. Convinced the only people who pretend to like OG either haven't seen it or are looking for some sort of validation by pretending to be oldgays.
both are shit though, toriyama singlehandedly ruined the entire shonen demographic forever
>Yes I am a Hispanic or Americamutt that watched DBZ on Toonami how could you tell?
I’m 20 years old, I read the entire dragon ball manga translated as well as dbz and I personally enjoyed the original dragon ball much more. Sorry but that’s just the way it is. I could say that you “only like dbz because you grew up watching it on toonami” it’s on the same level as ur argument except it’s probably true lol.
og was a comedy manga like dr slump, and it was a very well done at that.
z still made some sense in the saiyan saga and early namek, but later on shit got increasingly moronic and it ultimately lead to the shitshow that is super
the cell saga remains my favourite though
>og was a comedy manga like dr slump
Only in the early parts of the first arc.
>and it was a very well done at that
It was literal toilet humor.
Imo the issue with Super is that it doesn't really have any of the stronger aspects of Z. I posted up here
, and I'm convinced that the supporting cast and the tense situations they had to endure was what made the series work.
I never made it very far into Super, but it doesn't seem to capture what made DBZ work. The stakes don't really seem present, and the characters are mostly relegated to the Buu arc roles they fell into - boring regular people with jobs and being parents, and no sense of loss for them to deal with.
I haven't watched/read these arcs, but the Goku Black and Moro arcs at least seem closer to what Z was like. Somebody out of everyone's league, while the protagonists try to prevent doomsday from occuring. However, not having Krillin and young Gohan holding down the fort, getting shit done and barely escaping death for most of these arcs really hurts it though. I'm not entirely convinced the neutered modern Vegeta or the modern moron Goku can carry the series alone. Goku worked well to resolve the arc, and Vegeta was exciting as a wild card character.
I like OG, because it's a fun adventure more than a battle shounen.
Yeah it's because of zog
Nah
OG has a much better pace. The beginning of OG is some of the best animated stuff ever made, Bulma is gorgeous. And the end tournament is OG is like Yu Yu Hakusho.
But obviously Z's super sayan stuff is the best, I mean you turn aryan and blast planets, nothing can top that. And Vegeta is the best character in the series.
Sorry, I only talk to mangachads.
Holy fricking based. The adaptation for DBZ is fricking atrociously paced. The manga is much better unless you're an ADD riddled kid who NEEDS colors and flashing lights to be entertained.
Your post is contradictory. ADHD kids wouldn’t be able to sit through Z due to how slow paced it is.
Gokubro btw
The OG is a slightly better constructed show, overall. But a relatively flat "meh" rating across the board.
Z has A LOT of peaks and valleys, a solid half of the show is straight filler/stretch-for-time. I'd rather watch a highlight reel of Z than most of OG again.
>I'd rather watch a highlight reel of Z than most of OG again.
this
What highlights? Two guys screaming at each other for 20 episodes straight and now and then do a powerup that made the last 20 episodes obsolete?
There's no stakes or and suspension in Z, because it's all just powerups.
Z is incredibly formulaic. Vegeta is either directly involved as a villain or ally in the plot causing issues for the Z fighters like letting Majin Buu awaken because he wanted to beat Goku's ass. Then it's just a constant back and forth between the Z fighters and villain(s) powering up.
>There's no stakes or and suspension in Z
i don''t know why people come on here and just tell fricking lies all day all the time.
This. The show is extremely fricking tense in the Saiyan, Freiza and Cell/Android arcs. It's the weaker characters trying desperately to survive and get shit done while much stronger characters are hunting them down. This is when DB was at its peak imo, despite the sloppy writing. Yeah it was a cheap plot device to keep Goku out if the action for majority of these arcs, but it works. If you go through Kai or read the manga as well, you at least aren't being cheated like the OG anime does.
Watch Kai.
I'm totally opposite. I think the Original Series is more fun to watch in snippets and Z only really works episode at a time.
>a solid half of the show is straight filler/stretch-for-time
When I watched kai for the first time (and as someone who hasn't read the manga), I was like, didn't this 300 episodes or something.
Z had better highs but worse lows than OG
Point.
Vegeta is the best character in DB
Vegeta is not in OG dragon ball.
Therefore:
DBZ > OG
The anime adaptation of OG was better paced and better directed, but Z is the more interesting and cool part of the story.
I don't 100 percent agree with your assessment but I get it. I'm actually embarking on a Dragon Ball Marathon. I'm only on the second part but I'm making good progress. I had a copy of the original aspect ratio and a remaster and while the remaster looks notably better I'll stick with the original so nothing is cropped out.
>Dragon Ball
>Dragon Ball Z
>Dragon Ball GT
>Dragon Ball Kai
>Dragon Ball Sper
Isn't Kai just a recut of Z?
not them but yeah, it is. it basically cuts down on ALL the filler. even the good stuff like snake way that builds up suspense to "will goku make it there in time" and the fun stuff like fake namek
Anything after dbz is actual dog shit and not even worth watching if you like the original and z
Super is the exact same shit as Z, only less fillers
And the animation is DOG SHIT, frick u, gaylord jackass.
Eh, in some areas.
I don't think the case is usually that balance came out good, it was that no one knew wtf they were doing
OG has better fights than Z. A lot of the fights in Z boil down to two characters locked in punching and kicking with them zipping everywhere. Dragon Ball has actual fights that require the characters to use a certain technique or think outside the box. When a character loses in DB, it's because they weren't skilled enough. When a character loses in DBZ, a lot of the time it's because their arbitrary number wasn't high enough to compete with their opponent's arbitrary number. The only solution to beating a bad guy is to get stronger.
That said, DBZ has a few fights that are kino as frick.
>Goku vs. Frieza
>Piccolo vs. 17
>Goku vs. Majin Vegeta
the first goku vs vegeta was great and I'm shocked you didn't include it. Vegeta moves like he knows how to fight despite the amped up power levels
Yeah, my memory of the Saiyan Saga is a bit of a haze. The fighting didn't start blending together until around the end of the Cell saga.
yeah I'd say while by that point there were a lot of those "filler clashes" of just random jumping around with blurs of punches, the series had fights here and there that were good. I mean who hated piccolo slapping cells special beam cannon
>because they weren't skilled enough
>looks at Goku vs Piccolo
>looks at literally all of the 23rd martial arts tournament
bro?
Nothing will top
Jackie chun vs goku
Or all the tien bullshit those original tournaments had.
>>Goku vs. Majin Vegeta
That fight sucked. There’s a reason Goku vs Vegeta in the Saiyan saga is more fondly remembered.
>That fight sucked.
And it's relegated to practically a footnote in the manga.
Videl nakadashi.
Tien arc up to the end of Frieza is peak dragon ball.
OG->Z->ignore GT->Ignore 90% of Super
OG/Z>Super
OG=/= >/< Z
>=/= >/< OG
The frick kind of math equation you spamming here?
-> (order)
X>Y (X something is better than Y something)
Y>X (Y something is better than X something)
X/Y (X is the same quality as Y)
=/= (is NOT the same as)
X=/= >/< Y (X is Not better or worse than Y)
It's something you learn in grade school.
The end Arcs of OG are pretty good, Z is just powercreep. both follow the pretty boring formula of: big bad introduced, good character loses, good character does something to get stronger, good character wins.
im convinced anyone obsessed with the original is just trying to be a special snowflake, DB wouldn't be as popular as it is today if it wasn't for Z but these morons don't seem to get that throught their thick skulls
I liked DBZ more before everybody besides Goku and (occasionally) Vegeta was a completely useless jobber.
OG was based. I loved the martial arts focus and the sense of adventure it had.
>muh adventure!
Only 2 out of 5 arcs were adventures.
OG to the end of cell is a solid and complete story. Buu and on is complete fricking drivel that fricks everything up.
You're not allowed to not like Buu anymore.
you're allowed to like the buu saga
it sucks but you're allowed to like it
Sorry, nothing will make me like the pink moron and the 900 pointless plot devices that went nowhere.
They are very different but DG went to shit when they literally made it so anyone can resurrect by walking the dragon road or whatever
Dragon Ball actually had fricking fights instead of brief skirmishes between giant Frick Me beams.
man the power creep from frieza beginning to end was fricking moronic, like look at gohan's
starts at 1800
increases by 7.77x to 14000 when guru unlocks his potential
increases by 14x to TWO HUNDRED FRICKING THOUSAND after getting his shit kicked in by the ginyu force
increases 5x to 1,000,000
and keep in mind that while the namek arc lasted like a month, the ginyu fight and frieza fight were within a day of eachother, so gohan's power increases from 14,000 to 1 million pretty easily
still, the thing I hate most was goten and trunks being so powerful
Something something human-saiyan hybrids
Reminder that Jackie Chun casually was able to destroy the moon before all the powerlevel bullshit and that master Roshi can dodge Jirens punches.
dragon ball from namek onwards is like wrestling. shit happens to look cool. power levels are useless
Toriyama never gave a frick about power levels. That was only moronic fans
Krillin was never a real match for Goku at any point, even this fight is mostly Goku fooling around and holding back
Since when does goku hold back? I thought he loves to fight and challenge himself and others.
Do you watch the show? Goku holds back in almost every fight at first. He explains why against his first fight with Tien.
what did he say his reason was? it's been like a decade since I watched through the series
He likes to gauge their power or something goofy like that. Eventually if the opponent is strong enough goku will give it his all towards the end of the fight but he never starts like that.
Yeah I decided to give OG dragonball a go for the first time earlier this year and so far one of my biggest disappointments is how kid Goku is already clowning almost everyone he's up against. I thought there'd be more struggle in it. I can't believe master Roshi was only barely able to beat him
Buu > Saiyan > Frieza > Cell
OG Dragonball had lots of dicky, therefor OG Dragonball is better
>Chi chi
>Mai
>Suno
>The Indian e-girl
>Paur
Pure kino
also lots of willy
>>game is released
is great and allows a variation of different skills, tactics and strategy
You have never played a competitive game. The vanilla version is always the most broken iteration. Everyone just sucks at the start so they don’t optimize.
I still believe that the Saiyan arc is the peak of the franchise
>hero and villain from the last arc team-up to take on a new threat
>the hero fricking dies in the process
>previous villain ends up getting a change of heart due to the influence of the hero’s son
>the characters you come to know and love almost all end up being helpless against the new villains
>even though the hero shows up to make quick work of one of the villains, he still isn’t able to fully take down the last villain by himself and it takes a combination of luck and his remaining allies to score a victory after a brutal slugfest
The Frieza arc also had some good moments, with Vegeta in particular showing off his cunning mind in order to take down most of Frieza’s army (didn’t like how the Cell arc characterized him as a meathead who just willingly lets Cell power-up) and teaming up with Gohan and Krillin just to survive though the ending felt kind of flat.
>didn’t like how the Cell arc characterized him as a meathead who just willingly lets Cell power-up
Him letting Freeza power up was far stupider.
Saiyan arc will always stand in the top tier simply for remembering Yajorobe exists and having him be integral to the victory.
>Saiyan arc
Never heard of it.
When is this?
I know of the Sayajin arc though.
Saiyapeople arc, space warriors arc, you know what I meant.
vegetable people
I liked how they showcased Kaioken fricking up Goku so badly that a slap on the back from Yajirobe is enough to make him scream from pain. Saiyan saga honestly had some of the most narratively intelligent uses of power levels.
And then it was never brought up again or matters at all, brilliant writing!
Amazing how powerlevels were introduced solely to be treated as a joke, since the soulless spacemen who relied solely on numbers were getting clowned by magical humans who just "feel" the power with ancient kung fu training and shit.
Then the fans latched onto powerlevels as a useful metric anyway.
I find it funny that people dichotomize OG vs Z when what they should be dichotomizing is everything from the beginning up through namek vs cell and buu sagas
There's not a single bad DB/Z arc. Not even Cell.
*blocks your path
I'm going by the manga.
>literally immortal
>somehow royally fricks that up
The most moronic DBZ character of all time.
buu
buu
Buu was redeemed by the final fight
not it absolutely was not
I love buu himself, there's some great fights, I love adult gohan
but the buu saga was a fricking mess
Cell is arc is bad
>guys I just watched Terminator 2, here's Future Trunks
>the main villains are this clown and some old guy
>ok nvm my old editor said they suck
>the new villains are robots the old guy made, these robots are easily stronger than super saiyans lol
>wait my editor doesn't like them either, the new villain is a bugman who grows to become the #MostPowerfulBeingInTheUniverse
>what's his motivation? well... he's the villain ok! don't worry about it
>anyway, my back hurts so the manga art is gonna be kinda shitty for a while
>'member the world martial art tournament?
>anyway Gohan is now the strongest as I always intended and Krillin gets a robot gf, Goku decides he'd rather be dead than with his wife
>i don't know what could possibly follow such a lacklustre ending so enjoy the second longest timeskip in the entire series
The only highlight is Tien getting one last moment to shine
you forgot the best part, about all the little flying cameras
Naruto has the best shonen fights
For me it's when Goku, Bulma and Krillin were fighting soldiers and robotic pirates early in the manga.
Today, I will remind them
even goku is confused why he won
Why is Goku above Gohan?
>Krillin over Vegeta
Based
>works and provides for his family
>spends enough time with his wife and kids to keep them happy
>was willing to put his future wife above the entire planet
Makes sense to me. Krillin’s a legitimately great partner.
>kid trunks and goten
>men lusting over e-girl bad
>women lusting over shota good
What a clown world.
I'm going to go see it in theatres all by myself.
member when the fights had martial arts and weren't just teleporting and energy blasts
Roshi blew up the moon in the first World Martial Arts Tournament
22nd Budokai and Popo's training are peak Dragon Ball, no matter the era.
>Americans that watched the dubbed show giving any insight of the story
Lol, just lmao
This.
>Nakadashi
Why not Semen_inflation as well?
I want her to feel her insides expand with each pulsation.
Respectable, but I'm a simple man.
Dr Slump is so bad compared to DB
Dragon Ball had never been super good.
Super wasn't good though.
J
Z edgelords and OG posers both kneel to the fanficchad
I love Ranch!
this
kino other than they made pan's forehead 10ft tall
>So hotshot, you want to fight majin buu?
>Fight you? No I want to kill you.
