GamePass will kill CoD

>the top selling game of the last 15 years
>Xbox players need Game Pass to play online multiplayer
>CoD is always one of the most played games on Xbox
>most Xbox gamers subscribe to Game Pass to play online, then buy CoD each year
>but now CoD is going to come to Game Pass day one
>No need to buy CoD anymore
>Activision and Microsoft will lose MILLIONS in sales
>Microsoft is going to try to jack up Game Pass prices to compensate
>more people will leave Game Pass after the price hike

Microsoft is trying to force growth for Game Pass and it's just not going to happen at this rate. Phil Spencer wants 100 million subscribers to Game Pass in the next 3 years, and the service is struggling to maintain 30 million.

This is a LOSE LOSE situation. Call of Duty sales will be crippled and Game Pass won't exist by the end of the decade.

Don't most people play Warzone these days instead of Call of Duty proper? And you don't even need Game Pass for that.

This is just going to exacerbate the streaming service problem every other brand has. CoD will cause more churn on a larger scale from people subbing for a few months to play CoD before leaving and Microsoft will have the same retention problem they have now but just with bigger numbers

They do not need Xbox Game Pass. They can get core which gives them internet access but has 20 games or something available compared to the 600+ on Xbox Game Pass. CoD will not be on core of course.

They’re adding another price point just for CoD or raising the price of Ultimate, screencap this

  22. 3 weeks ago

they can work around it easily.
    1) cut the game and release content monthly so homies have to resubscribe. that's $11 drained every month and they will increase the prices for sure.

    2) offer premium gamemodes as DLC. gamepass users never have access to DLC so they'd drop 10 bucks to access zombies or some shit. add more gamemodes like that and suddenly the player has spent way more than they did last year on the same franchise.

    3) once homies start realizing that renting costs are adding up, microsoft offers incentives exclusively to gamepass users so they stay subscribed. be that xp boosts, skin packs, other lame shit that keeps a homie happy.

    4) taunt epic skin packs. they're sure to catch the eye of a homie. maybe even a bundle. that's $40 gone from the homie while he pays monthly to rent a game and has also dropped 30 bucks on premium gamemodes.

    5) story is sold separately. this could frick them up but they could get their PR teams to work around it. the average homie couldnt care less about the campaigns and hops into the multiplayer lobbies anyway.

ultimately this might frick them up in the short term (first week sales) but 6 months post launch they'd be making more money then ever.

Fortnite is free to play and is making more money than 99% of games.
CoDs, just like FIFA and whatever yearly live service game, make most of their money from MTX and ingame purchases in general. Putting it on GamePass means even more players and therefor even more people who buy skins and whatever.

How is game pass a loss for Microsoft ? It’s produced some really good games over the years especially the last few. I personally won’t pay 70 for a game so if it’s on game pass then I’ll definitely be playing it. Just seems desperate when Sonys Gamepass equivalent is straight up dogshit. That’s why you shills make these threads every day, also Halo hate threads.

Game Pass subscriptions aren't going up - that's the issue for Microsoft. It's reached a plateau, especially on console. It's also killing studios - Xbox owners no longer buy games as they just get them on Game Pass, giving Microsoft reason to shut studios down.

They're morons who are still stuck in 2009 or something.

EA FC 24 is releasing store packs and "micro"transactions that cost as much as 50€, which is almost as expensive as the entire game itself. These gays have no idea how a business work because let me tell you these companies would rather have 10 people playing the game for free but buying their MTX than 2 people buying the game and not buying anything.

how IS it a loss for microsoft when a game that would typically be sold for $60 or $70 is now on a significantly less expensive subscription service for "free" where you can unsubscribe if you don't want to play it anymore
