      >Vermintide, and Total War, were both good. The issue is 40kringe
Vermintide and Total War were both madd after Fantasy died. This meant they both had minimal interference from GW, at least until Warhammer 3 where they specifically made Kislev and Cathay much larger factions in the setting than they were peeviously.
Darktide is likely to suffer for this (The release date is being pushed early to coincide with the new Imperial Guard codex) and so will Space Marine 2. (leaks have said 10th Edition will start with Space Marines vs Tyranids, conveniently the same as Space Marime 2).
I wouldn't hold my breath on TWW3 DLCs being top quality going forward. GW has been slow to develop Old World but they're very much using Warhammer 3 to push some ideas.

Not true, the majority of the companies doing the licenses for games just suck.

Darktide got delayed an entire year, it's not early at all
Despite fantasy dying they were still advertising the models for various lords on the launcher for the first game when it came out.

          >Darktide was delayed a year
GW plans things out years in advance and shifts things as needed. Hell the Guard releases were meant to be revealed way earlier this year when Angron 'leaked'.
          >Despite fantasy dying they were still advertising the models for various lords on the launcher for the first game when it came out.
That's because many of them are still usable in AoS.

Cathay is entirely market driven and does not at all feel like it belongs within the writing of warhammer fantasy. TW Cathay does not exist as warhammer Cathay did, and cannot because it was created as a cynical market-grab for one of the most 'politically sensitive' markets on the face of the earth - meaning none of the satire that's all over warhammer. I really don't know what would make you think TW Cathay works as part of warhammer.

They have unique campaign mechanics that are both flavorful and mean they function differently than other factions since you spend your time balancing ying yang on the campaign map, which is refreshing, I don't play campaign layer vastly different from faction to faction many times, especially for the more humanoid ones, so that was a pleasant surprise.
They have interesting generals as they are buff aura focused instead of being tough or just magic users, the caravan is just fun to have bumping along throughout the campaign and generates fun fights too. They are aethetically unique and look nice, having an army that benefits from just sticking their ground and looses all their benefits by moving makes for a different battle style as well, and their lack of armor piercing on most fo their units means you need to pay more attention to this factor if your enemy brings some well armored and especially tough single entity units.

I'm fully aware this is a Chinese cashgrab, that's entirely why I'm surprised they are as fun to play as they are. I really don't give a damn about how they "fit," as all fantasy races are just some exaggerated grab of different historical peoples. We already have the high elves as a shiny sparkly nice looking faction, now we have fictional China clearly at the height of one of its dynastical equivielents, while the barbarians are at the gates getting ready to burn it all down.

So yeah, they play good and have a unique aesthetic, and end of day warhammer doesn't require much else for it.
Will they have good minis and good writing for the rest of the other parts series that is ont total war? Fuck if I know.

You're just as stupid to think GW made Cathay to chase the chink market. They're a range refresh made to encourage people into buying a new faction when Old World comes out. Think about it.
            >People want Fantasy to come back since it was something a lot of people had and that many have interest in now
            >A significant portion of players may be returning from Fantasy, meaning they already have armies for some of the factions, namely the Empire and some of the Elves
            >Many of the models for those factions and their equivalent are even still available for use in AoS and are still sold by GW
            >Those players who still have armies most likely won't want to buy entire range refreshes for major factions like the Empire, meaning money would be lost
            >Naturally, GW's solution is simple;
            >Do complete refreshes of previously minor factions with new designs and models in order to encourage even older players to buy into newer plastic.
Expect armies for Nippon and Ind as well, which will of course be ported to Warhammer 3.

CA absolutely included Cathay (when it hadn't even included all of the races that have historically had armies) to court China and you're willingly ignorant to think at all otherwise.

Thank you. You've already stated you don't care about the setting or if they fit into it but I'll elaborate regardless, since you were kind enough to give me something thought out: Every single faction and aspect of historical reference in Warhammer is written from a europe-out perspective and then exaggerated. Every non-european culture is not treated from its own perspective, but instead is written from what a historical euro perspective might be. The entire setting is called The Old World even. This gives the entire thing a distinct tone. If there's nobility in the mythology/history it's based on, it's often poisoned with an undercurrent of rot, cruelty, or plain indifference. Even the fucking Skaven come from a historical european idea of rats and the black plague. Previously, warhammer Cathay was 1. Far away and 2. Mysterious. Because that was the perception of China. I'd be hesitant to do more with them than that because ultimately it just isn't a kitchen-sink setting. Not every setting has to represent the entire planet's worth of cultures. In Warhammer's case it more represents a mythologicalised snapshot of the ideas of things.
Cathay, on the other hand, is some guy opening a wikipedia article on Chinese fantasy/history and making it fantastical and a little mean. But you can't be too mean, remember. You write Cathay like how Bretonnia and you risk Hurting the Feelings of the Chinese People, which would defeat the entire purpose of including them in the first place.

CA already said they had to 'work closely' with GW for TW3, and anything annoucned for Old World would be added to to the game after launch.

GW is absolutely protectionist but you're a fucking dumbass if you think it's nearly as tight as you're pretending. There are numerous factions that exist but don't have models in current warhammer, and more models still that were previously only forge world. Obvious example is chaos dwarves but they're obviously going to non-FW up the likes of that mammoth too. But no, Cathay (a faction based on China by the way), just so happened to be a naturally organic choice for them that came out of a desire to sell new plastic. On a totally, completely unrelated note: Wanna tell me why this game exists? Wanna tell me how it performed and why? Again, entirely unrelated.

                >Every single faction and aspect of historical reference in Warhammer is...
Makes sense. Only question I have is what is the high elf underlying rot? I guess they are just supremely snooty and vain. They have the dark elves, but they are a fully separate people by now, and have been that way forever as far as the setting is concerned.
Now that I think about it, did they create Slaanesh in Fantasy as well, or is that only in 40k?

They live on Atlantis and are pretty much doomed (at some point) but so is everyone. So they're like double-doomed. But their aloofness and smug sense of elven superiority, even when compared to other elves, is probably their 'main thing'. They've got a stick up their ass and it makes them better than you.

Oh there absolutetly is a little bit of China pandering mixed in, but it's not as extreme as one might expect. Cathay was already among the largest NPC factions in Fantasy as the 'mysterious eastern Empire' with their own Vampire clan and Chaos issues.
Also keep in mind for factions like Chaos Dwarves CA and GW know people will buy those already. Cathay was a fairly large gambit, making it the more obvious choice for base game inclusion to ensure the most saturation and exposure.
Also going by AoS I think GW just hates Chaos Dwarfs.
As for TW:TK, that was most certainly a bit of chink pandering, but the period is a fairly major myth to China, probably on par with or even above the Illiad in terms of recognition over there. It's also a period that TW hadn't done anything witj before then. To my knowledge it did fairly well (certainly better tham Troy an Britannia), and onpy received backlash later on when CA went full retard with it.

            >Cathay is entirely market driven and does not at all feel like it belongs within the writing of warhammer fantasy.
You're rewriting reality in your head and projecting your own bias again just because you have hate boner and strong bias against Chinese.
I'm a bit tired for repeating this but when I see nonsense like yours. I just have to say it again. Cathay already exists in Warhammer universe for over 35 years as background faction with many anecdotes and little "gossip", far more than some niche NPC factions such as Nip and Ind, just rather scattered, it already plays rather big role of the "unexplored far east" in the old world before TWWH3 comes out. Lots of "new lore" GW created for WH3 are just extension and regimentation of these former "anecdotes" and "gossip", you would know if you actually do some research yourself (but of course you would never do that because you hate Cathay/China by default).

GW's writers once said some "bright sides" of Cathay are rather like embellishments or "(in-game) propaganda" similar to how high elf or other warhammer factions like boasting themselves, not necessarily reflect the "truth" in warhammer world. And there are actually many shortcomings and "dark sides" of Cathay in WH3, such as the dragon lords/ dragon siblings are often plotting to against each others and lead to peasant revolts, dragon emperor had once mystically vanished for hundreds of years and left Cathay in power vacuum which literally caused severe civil war between dragon lords and allowed "monkey king" took the Cathayan throne. There are also serious Tzennech cultists corruption and skaven infestation in Cathay. There are even some "small talks" during the loading scene that mocks how sensitive Cathayans are when someone dare disrespecting their empire. But of course people like you always automatically ignore all these because they contradict your preconceived false "narrative", which is also why you're always wrong.

NTA, but existing in the world building, does not mean "put in the game".

If you think Cathay being featured now, isn't an attempt to increase their share on the Asian market, then you're simply wrong.
Araby would have a bigger claim to be included, as they had army lists before. But you don't see them because Arabians don't play Warhammer. At least not as much.

Cathay being put in literally is "we want the Chinese money". Simple as. You can copy paste your stuff as much as you want, but people from here to Nottingham know it's true

And it doesn't mean it can never be "put in the game", and it surely doesn't mean "cathay is entirely market driven and doesn't belong within the warhammer fantasy". That's just your own bias and self-projection. Who says background faction can only be background forever and never put in actual game or tabletop? Your personal political preference and racial bias don't dictate how GW making their game and how market works.
There was even fucking poll made by your fellow anti-cathay comrades back when Cathay was first announced few years ago, the shithead even posted it on Steam forum, and turns out people like you only account for ~~*4%*~~.

                >If you think Cathay being featured now, isn't an attempt to increase their share on the Asian market, then you're simply wrong
I never said featuring Cathay in game is never for market reason, of course Asian/Chinese market is one of GW/CA's major concerns, even half-wit can understand this, but it's not entire reason or only reason like you claimed, that's what I refuted you. There were many people asking for Cathay to be in WH3 back in the days, lots of threads every week on various forums, not just Chinese. You didn't know or intentionally ignore them don't mean they didn't exist.

            >Khorne fags constantly frag each as much as they frag the enemy
wow, truly brilliant. Please, tell me more of what these screaming red retards can do with Axes?

            >Khorne
            >Less imaginative than Nurgle
Nurgle is LITERALLY the god of stagnate shit. Meanwhile Khorne can sometimes get depth to the violence.
Better to have potential to be explored than a base of literal shit.

            >Depth to the violence
Give some examples, please. In all my years of looking into this shit, every SINGLE time Khorne cultists or cunts rear their ugly satanic red head, it's the same screaming, raging shit. No nuance. This is why Tzeetch or Chaos Undivided is leagues better when the Chaos Characters can have motivation outside of "le smack human man with big stick"

And in comparison, for as stagnate as Nurgle is, at least there's more nuance with their followers genuinely being happy, genuinely wanting to spread these plagues and free the slaves of the imperium. All the khorne fucks want to do is to scream like retards and kill shit. It's ok to admit your autistic and you like that, but don't you fucking dare try to convince anyone else that blood and death ALONE is an interesting villain motivation.

There's also Skarbrand's fall, which could be viewed as one of the more 'tragic' stories as far as Daemons can be tragic.
And as for Nurgle people tend to overblow the 'happy' part. They're 'happy' because they genuinely can't feel what's happening to themselves, as the ability to has long since rotted out. There's an excerpt where Typhus watches an Imperial official repeatedly be melted into a puddle of flesh and painfully reformed over and over, and considers it a 'great blessing' from Nurgle.

I'm not a huge fan of Nurgle but I'll take him ANY day over fucking Khorne. Most boring le ebil red devil cunts. Literally could not be any more cookie cutter

I feel Tzeetch would be too difficulty to write for most devs, and Slaanesh would be considered too taboo for autistic americans. So all we get is either Khorne or Nurgle.

Out of those two I fucking despise seeing the most boring le angry red bad men with horns. They LITERALLY have nothing interesting going on besides smacking things with an axe. Cool. What an amazing fucking narrative. Khorn tards leave. I am glad the new games are distancing themselves from that unimaginative red cunt

As much as I'm voting Nurgle over Khorne in this very thread in theory, I have to agree with this, it's fucking lame even. Even Khornes crazed cultists would make for a more interesting sight, be it only because zombies are done to death at this point.

Slaanesh doesn't even need to be about degenerate sex since it's all about excess anything instead of just sex.

GW prices are based on tabletop power, not actual plastic amount. Some named characters can cost more than entire squads of dudes. This isn't even getting into Forgeworld stuff.
