Was removed before world bosses like they said it would. My server is actually still way too overpopulated, it's basically impossible to farm out in the world since layering was removed. Just keeps getting worse because so many PvP server refugees keep transferring in. They really went full moron with server populations and made zero effort to control them. As for Assmongoloid I think he finally went to retail. Turns out WoW classic is really boring when people mail you thousands of gold and your guild is just a bunch of streamer nuthuggers who let you gear out your character in nearly full raid epics in one night.

Now what? Should I make a horde alt? It's fun for a bit but interest dies in the endgame unless you're a turbo autist who farms easy raids every week

Everything that sucks about classic atm is because it's basically some old school player, exploiting flaws in Classic's design. Every top player is exploiting some mechanic to get to that position. May it be officer abuse, faction colluding, gatekeeping, gaslighting or some other manipulation of other players.
a lot of old boomers tried to play it slow and blind while most zoomers orbited their fav streamer and did everything they did, grinding dungeons, layering abuse, etc.
Nah, more like a different stage of internet killed the game. Someone said that MMOs back then were kind of a replacement for social media which wasn't in full force yet. I think that was very poignant. Now the mmo is the secondary source of communication and people either lock themselves in their own discord servers or they just consume the game mostly outside the game through personalities, wikis, youtube videos etc.
Doesn't help that the game was also solved, which is why we needed classic + badly so there were new things for people to figure out, but that's risky for blizz and takes work so they wouldn't do that. Don't want classic to compete with retail. It was doomed to fail, and I thoroughyl enjoyed teh first two months with the game, it was a great experience honestly.

phase 2 roaming pvp was glorious. if there was some way that the game maintained a 50/50 split on factions and just excluded instanced bg's... all the crying, all the ABSOLUTE HATRED bottled into a 6 week running battle across the world. so much fun. how god awful it must have been for the masses that should have rolled on a pve server. now they have their own little sheltered sandbox and they've found some way to avoid all fighting while getting rewarded.
