Fantasy is carried by CA. CA suck, but they're still better than the 40k studios.
cuz fantasy is good for starters
>what is vermintide
>what is vermintide
Fatshark is one of the worst devs that exist.
just because their 40k game was ass doesnt mean vermintide was ass
Rogue trader will make everybody forget about fantasy warhammer.
No it won't.
I dunno, if I can dick the space elf girl, and all signs point towards that being possible, it seems likely.
>rogue trader
Space marine 2*
>Rogue trader
Why oh why did it have to be turn based?
Owlcat was the last bastion of RTWP cRPG
>Pathfinder gets turn based mode post-release due to popular demand

Fucking BG3 also got the turn based treatment
Turn based games are just easier to make.
I like it because it protects Tolkien's work from people who don't understand Tolkien's work
until we get total war: middle earth
>muh deep tolkien
They're literal childrens books you gay
the hobbit is
Lord of the Rings is in no way a children's book. It's dry as a nun's knickers and barely holds the attention of ardent readers.
NTA, but I read Tolkien when I was nine.
And I red Crime & Punishment at the age of 13. What’s your point?
>red
Clearly you are illiterate.
>Dood i read quantum physics when i was 5,this means they are for children ahahahha
Lol, retarded kun filtered by chadtolkien
Nobody said Tolkien was good at writing.
Only the hobbit was written for children, LOTR and silmarilion are intended for adult readership, which you'd know if you'd actually read them instead of being very opinionated on something of which you have no knowledge
I can se silmarillion being made for adults since its basically kalevala but lotr? Cmon man every tenth page is some hobbit singing.
So you never read the entire actual novels? Okay retard
>Cmon man every tenth page is some hobbit singing.
You think Tolkien put that in because it's childish? Look at the context and what the story is trying to show you. Gleeful Hobbit songs are contrasted with the horrible quest that awaits them and the shellshock of going from the Shire to experiencing war. It is no doubt inspired by Tolkien's experiences in WW1. I think you're calling it childish because you've seen other anons post that meme of an assessment
Fromdrone post
OK Fromdrone
Warhammer is pulp fantasy whereas Tolkien's works actually hold literary merit, I know, and I don't care.
>Tolkien's works actually hold literary merit
deluded Tolkienfags lol
>pulp doesn't have merit
fucking love pulp
I don't get what you mean
Warhammer brings in a fuckton of normies because every single book has a youtube video essay summary for bored zoomzooms and millennials. Other dark fantasy and sci-fi series remain obscure because they don't have that kind of mass shilling operation on the internet. But Tolkien isn't obscure at all. Its arguably twice as normie as warhammer.
Loretubers and shit like TTS have killed Warhammer. Fuck YouTube morons.
As someone who likes both LOTR and Warhammer I agree with this. Warhammer offers quick spectacle and large monsters dunkslamming each other, which leaves LOTR much room to focus on all the small nuances in their shadows.
And at the end of the day, both are cool.
Yes I'm glad LotR remains an IP of mithrilclad integrity to this day,
>I like it because it protects Tolkien's work from people who don't understand Tolkien's work
I IMMEDIATLY thought of sexy Shelob from the Shadow of War game when I read this
You hated WH Fantasy before Total War dreck came out
It's not our fault the last two editions and The End Times sucked
>Fantasy has a pretty interesting world to work with that got blown up because the writers are retards
>Total Warhammer puts some decent focus on factions besides just the Empire
>40k has a pretty interesting world to work with
>Everything in it becomes another iteration of Spess Mehreens or another Imperium subset grimdarkly killing tyranids and maybe some orks
I guess it's the sense that it's a breath of fresh air in a series that's stagnation incarnate
I know Chaos is overrepresented, same as Imperium, but I wish we had a quality 40k rpg where falling was an option.
My ideal 40k Rpg would be you are a chapter master of a newly founded Chapter and can go Loyalist or Traitor with a gameplay mix of that Space Marine game and mount and blade for combat and Thronebreaker style decision making. This could also be done as an Ork.
Orks probably have the most freedom for an RPG of the xenos races.
Retribution may have sucked but damn if I didn't love the oddly civil pirate Ork stopping the Chaos incursion just so he could steal an inquisitor's hat
>Ending movie for the Orks is Bludflagg sneaking up on the Inquisitor, punching her out, and taking her hat before walking off
Actually a good idea
Chaos on its own is probably underepped but Chaos Spess Mehreens are pretty high up on the "faction that matters" list.
>quality 40k rpg where falling was an option
rogue trader by owlcat
>no Sister of Battle romance
Until they include a detailed description of my rouge-trader eating her out then it will never be a quality rpg
Just read a romance novel fag. Not a single modern crpg has well written romance or even characters in general for that matter. Its all reddit tier writing. Do you really want that?
Not him but yes, I love it. Unironically and unapologetically.
>because the writers are retards
It was an executive decision. The writers had to make shit up as they went along because the people in charge were retards deepthroating shareholders.
I fucking hate the imperium of writers favourite
SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS
Because the board game was an overly bloated mess that GW couldn't scale back due to rampant autism of the people.
Literally every WHFB player I have talked to complained about the size bloat of 8th edition but refuse to play with smaller armies.
It's because there's shithead tournament organizers who insist on 2000 point tournies because god forbid your army doesn't have every single angle covered, and they have the ear of GW.
It got to the point they shrank table sizes in 9th ed. 40k to postage stamps because tourneyfags wanted to fit more people in a convention hall without hiring extra rooms. Every single person on the Warhammer Competive subreddit agrees the game plays better at 1000 or 1500 on the new "standard" tables but they stick with 2000 because "It's the official format."
You want to know why 2000 points existed in whfb? Because that was the limit in 6th edition you could use lords.
But 6th edition was alot smaller period and modern whfb players are retards.
I couldn't enjoy wh fantasy when I tried comparing it tolkien at every turn. I only started to once I figured out it should be approached similarly to Heroes of Might and Magic. Just a fun amalgamation of all kinds of fantasy shit that shouldn't be taken too seriously.
Anyone with an ounce of talent left Games Workshop a long time ago.

Mordheim was the worst rules as written published by GW until Necromunda 2017, and required knowledge of Necromunda and 2nd edition 40k to patch holes in the rules.
Though I guess your point still stands since Hewitt was responsible for Nucromunda.
I didn't make that image, had I made it I would have used Rick Priestley to better illustrate the level of difference between old and new rulebook writers. That being said, I disagree with your assessment of Mordheim entirely. At no point in my nearly 20 years of playing Mordheim have I ever stopped and asked myself "should I consult the 40k2e rulebook?" and I can't even begin to fathom what you mean by suggesting somebody do so.
Total warhammer fucking sucks
Fantasy makes more sense than 40k. It's not rocket science.

40K had plenty of good games before, its the most modern ones that complete suck ass, GW gives the IP to pretty much anyone that asks and Relic isn't the old relic so DoW 3 turned out to be shit but that's about it.
Fantasy WH has the TTW trilogy and?....
Vermintide.
Which has now been abandoned to focus on Darktide. So you know what? I'm quite happy 40k gets a taste of being shat on when it comes to games.
It translates better to videogames than tabletop.
>How does it do it? Is Warhammer Fantasy just that good?
At the end of its lifespan Fantasy was a bloated piece of shit with horrible rules (and I'm talking straight up unplayable rules) that nobody bought. Does that warrant axing the setting altogether? Probably not, but any time some secondary ousts themselves as being a Fantasy fan because they played TTW and thinks that will translate in any way to tabletop success they have no idea what they're fucking talking about. I will bet money that The Old World turns out to be a total flop.
Clearly not a player or collector, they are printing money with AoS smaller armies which Old World is copying. People are going to buy new, fancy, shiny Empire models in droves.
>will bet money that The Old World turns out to be a total flop.
You can send it to all my paypal. Warcry is plastic crack printing cash and so will old world. No one cares about TT, most money is from painters collecting unique models.
>Secondary
The lore for both Warhammers is vastly more interesting then experiencing the boardgame and the videogames are more enjoyable then playing with overpriced toy soldiers. Respect the painting though.
The only way TOW will succeed is if they go back to an early edition of WHFB like 4th or 5th. If they change it back to 8th edition it'll die just as hard as before.
>Fantasy requires a hundred old ugly models that haven't been updated in several decades
>AOS comes out with shiny new updated models, more streamlined rules
>people buy aos stuff
>they must just prefer the setting!!!
No, they butchered the old world.
>AOS comes out with shiny new updated models, more streamlined rules
The model part is hardly even true. They mostly repackaged the exact same models, but made an actually playable game to come along with them.
>secondary secondary secondary
have a nice day you cringy gay.
Name said unplayable rules, then.
>tabletop retard wanders off his containment board
This is the videogame board you stupid fuck, it's in SPITE of tabletop mongoloids that warhammer settings can be better explored and utilized and not just make overpriced products for a handful of paypigs that only care about small parts of the settings.
Tabletop rules and numbers are not THE lore canon btw.
They fucked up because at the time, fantasy had been a pointless money sink with no one playing it and bloat due to shitty rules and shitty giant armies.
What they didn't realise though was the lore and setting was gold, and nuking the entire thing literally slaughtered half their appeal, being a provider of good quality fantasy and scifi minis.
Now Old World is coming back, its identical but with the same "chapter" system space marines have with Empire plus the core races of Dwarfs, Orcs, Vamps, ect.
>GW forces everyone to use space marines for 40k games
wow i wonder why they're all so boring
Jokes on you gay, xenos games are boring too
>Allow one xeno game to exist
>Proceed to allow billions of shovelware titles about muh imperium
God I hate them
Still fucking boring
Is it me or this game somehow got worse than previous games? Is it by the same devs that made guns gore and cannoli, right?
>look up this game

>3 hours of OST on yt
wtf
Run and gun pc game actually if you know the guns gore and cannoli games that basically thet but with warhammer skins
Add Thanquol to the goddamn game, CA
He's being saved for Total War: Endtimes.
>That would probably be too much Chaos after III already has a billion Chaos factions
They've pulled factions out of their ass that were basically just lore blurbs I don't think it matters much at this point
40k is trash and people are finally waking up to that fact, Fantasy has always been better
40k's had some alright games the last few years
Darktide is a stinker but anyone expecting better from Fatshark is retarded
GeeDubs likes handing out the 40k license to a lot of shitty studios for some reason while also closing down fan efforts
>when the whole realm of order obeys and your name is Karl Franz
>When you're actually an impotent politician that got his ass beat by some random orc and not the big hero
Karl Franz is a gay pretender and not a worthy heir of Sigmar or Magnus' position. He's is only Emperor because of his family. The last good Emperor was Wilhelm. Total Warhammer was a mistake.
He has the highest charisma stat in the world and essentially single-handedly united every single faction under order, which is THE most important feat in their modern history up to that point. The greatest fighters aren't even leaders of nations.
>single-handedly unitred
Outside of TWW fanfiction trailer when Windows taxes boy united shit? Most of his rule is about getting beat, than being saved with somekind of sacrifice and than actually being useful. Karl Franz is really not that good emperor. Magnus is the only great emperor Empire had.
I'd like to play the trilogy but I don't have like a thousand bucks for all the DLC.
Fucking this. When they finally release the "Ultimate TTW Pack" with all that shit in it then I'll buy it.
>meanwhile the vast majority of Warhammer 40k games are trash
Rogue trader is fucking good but I still hope owlcat start working on warhammer fbrp game after it.

And this has both in one.
>Khalida gets proper bandages

Fucking damnit
I fucking love the Tomb Kangz
Based kangbros. ME with Tomb Kings Extended mod was the most fun I've had with this game.
The extra skill tree stuff in that mod was insanely busted, fun extra units though
I usually played with Closer To Tabletop instead since it made monsters and cavalry better
If I only care bout playing Tomb Kings what is a better option.
TWW II + Tomb Kings DLC or TWWIII + Tomb Kings DLC?
Does III actually offer anything new from II besides new factions and (i'm assuming) campaign?
3 with the DLC, you get so many more people to fight. The hard difficulties are also less stupid against melee units.
>you get so many more people to fight
Oh?
So how does it work. Does 3 have all the previous factions to fight against but you just can't play them?
Yes.
Are all the factions on one xboxhuge map?
Does ... it work?
I remember playing older Total War and some games took very very long for the AI to take their turns.
CA performed magic during WH2's post-release support and now turns are super quick.
Inquisitor is fucking amazing.

Total War: Warhammer is fucking terrible, never have I been more frustrated and disappointed by a game in my life. Vermintide is a massively better Warhammer game and that's just L4D with extra swords.
>Total War: Warhammer is fucking terrible, never have I been more frustrated and disappointed by a game in my life
yep
its shit
It seems like few people actually care about playing WHF tabletop and are more into the video games
Fantasy worlds are inherently easier to sell to an audience. Sci-fi requires good writers build a world that's interesting on top of stories that don't destroy the image of that world, but fantasy doesn't need an interesting world - just interesting tools for the characters inside that world to use.
I've never played a total war game but I'm really interested in warhammer 3
How autistic is it gameplay wise?
If it's like HOI IV I don't think I'm built for it...
It only gets autistic if you play past normal mode
it's not autistic like HOI at all
it's pretty straight forward, you build armies then use those armies to kill enemies
you build settlements to make income and draft more peasants for the army, it's the same old total war gameplay
On normal difficulty it doesn't matter at all what you're doing
The AI is nearly nonexistent, it moves towards your army and has no concept of how to trap your units
The overworld management is simple, many choices are framed as being important but once again it barely matters what you pick
Total war is total war, but total war warhammer is like heroes of might and magic or disciples with total war gameplay.
It's not even close to being autistic as hoi4.
Just pirate tww2 or try tww3 in gamepass and then decide if you want to buy it in steam.
Thanks guys
I'll check it out
Chaos Dwarfs look fun as fuck too
Chaos Dwarf are not in the vanilla game, they are a separate overpriced race pack you have to pay for
>you have to pay for
No
>The only race pack that's $25
Are they bleeding money they need to recoup or are they actually just garden gnomemaxxing
Different type of autism depending on the difficulty/faction since some get handholdy aspects to them. Actually finishing a campaign can be maddening whenever the ordertide/chaostide kicks in and the AI shows up at your door with three armies it shat out in a single turn...every turn.
>Chaos Dwarfs
He...he doesn't know....
I use No-Cheating mod to cuck the AI out of it's non-existing stream of resources. And it becomes apparent how the higher difficulties are just padded with artificial numbers. In my dreams the higher difficulty actually means a more competent strategical opponent.
Sadly almost every strategy game just gives the AI bigger numbers on higher difficulties
This came up in another thread but I think it's an interesting topic: Would it be good for the hobby if there was a straight up 40k/Kill Team/AoS/Fantasy Battle vidya adaptations?
People argue GW doesn't do it because it's less profitable thatn selling minis and rulebooks but they could and would 100% garden gnome the fuck out of it and sell lootboxes with accessories for HQs and color schemes for individual units or have a battlepass or sell you each base roster separately then charge for more units. What I'm interested in is if that would get more people to play the tabletop game or if they're just gonna go "Well no point buying into the videogame AND the minis and it's easier to just play online than meetup" and it would end up hurting the TTG scene.
An obvious comparison would be Yugioh and Master Duel but that's a lot less niche than Warhammer and it's also much easier to get games going irl since you don't have to commit to 3-5 hours for one game, you don't need a big ass table and a deck fits into your pocket while a 2000 point army requires multiple expensive carrying cases.
as long as the physical game is actually good at the time that the video game releases then yeah it can work
Master Duel got a bunch of people I know into yugioh or back into it.
>Would it be good for the hobby if there was a straight up 40k/Kill Team/AoS/Fantasy Battle vidya adaptations?
I'm fine with that as long as they stop making Space Hulk games. How many are there already? 6?
If they did that it would absolutely be popular, however GW will never let it happen because it would supplant their physical sales. And since GW would need a third party to develop the digital tabletop versions, they would end up losing money.
Because lets face it nobody except hardcore autismoids would bother woth physical models when there's an active digital version of thd game that's vastly easier to get into.
On tabletop these games have X-COM levels of RNG swings and it's tolerable there because players can lean on the narrative power fantasy shit Warhammer is full of. Most games are played only to serve as a palette for the imagination of what's really going on in the battle.
The blackpill of Warhammer is when you remove the human interaction on live play and dramatic RNG moments, painting and building, what's underneath is a very subpar game. The strategy isn't very deep, often there's a "correct way" to play and you're really only ever leveraging how well those dice are going to behave.
It would take precisely ten minutes for a video game adaptation to lock into a meta and endless crying why *my* faction deserves a boost and his a nerf. It just won't work.
GW would never allow that because their entire business model is forcing people to shell out hundreds of dollars for plastic toy soldiers. Allowing any kind of virtual competition to that business model would kill the tabletop game.
It's actually why TWW has so much freedom. Because the Old World is dead, GW stopped caring. But now people care about the Old World again, so GW thinks it can cash in - but I'm not going to fucking give GW a single penny just so I can have some toy soldiers to play with.
How come they let it happen for Bloodbowl? I get that BB was never as profitable as 40k or FB but they're selling Bloodbowl miniatures and rulebooks so it must be doing at least somewhat well.
>I get that BB was never as profitable as 40k or FB
Literally the reason.
Bloodbowl was what GW refers to as a "specialist game". A limited run production, for a minority of enthusiasts. But a video game can produce infinite copies and appeal to a wider audience. It's not rocket science to understand why GW allows it but not a full 40k adaptation.
>A limited run production, for a minority of enthusiasts.
But it's not limited. They're still selling them and making new models and rulebooks for it. Multiple people from my ttg group still keep up with and play it. Also if that was the case wouldn't that mean that making a Fantasy Battle game would be fine now?
"Limited run" meaning "only manufactured in finite quantities at certain points in time", rather than a constant production run.
It has games workslop on the title so people will buy it, simple as
Are you even capable of communication without retarded meme words anymore?
MODS ARE CHEATING
Yes, and?
If you
>Pumped Doomstacks out of thin air
>Formed alliances with blood enemies in order to declare war on the player turn 9
>Manipulated ambush RNG into your favor
>Manipulated auto-battle outcomes in order to waste the player's time
>Marched across the map just to sack one tiny settlement while losing your entire providence
you didn't actually beat the player. Therefore you get modded and dabbed on.
Based fuck the cheating CPU in this fucking game.
The easiest total war by far is medieval 2, purely because it's the one where the AI plays thr most fairly
Also because the AI is fucking retarded and will just shut down if you sally out but dont actually charge into them.
The Ai is fucked sure but i mean more like how if you took an enemy's city it would actually affect their economy and the number and type of units they could build.
No fucking single village factions with 3 doomstacks bullshit
med 1 shogun 1 was the one with best non cheating AI
hows napoleon? I love that period.
supposedly its better empire but empire was so terrible that I never played nappy
It's very campaign focused. The corridor shooter of total war games.
It is better than Empire, but only because Empire was way too ambitious.
>Is Warhammer Fantasy just that good?
Yes. Because it has Ogres.
I haven't played in a long while, and saw in a previous thread that they fixed Chaos Warriors. What did they end up doing, and is it worth a playthrough?
It's fun but they are really really overpowered now. You basically just dominate every living thing and the AI is too afraid to actually attack your settlements because the AI avoids strong garrisons.
That kind of sounds like that one beastmen guy that they nerfed. Still seems like a fun playthrough.
Games Workshop is just trash.
When is CA gonna drop the pygmies DLC bros?
>How does it do it? Is Warhammer Fantasy just that good?
There was a previous attempt with Mark of Chaos, which outside it's units visual customization and cinematic trailer, is a fairly mediocre and forgettable game.
The issue is GW didn't often put a lot of effort into the license compared to 40k, especially later on in it's life.
Warhammer Fantasy is a relatively straightforward setting, with some interesting deviations from typical fantasy, compared to, yet again, 40k.
The issue is at the end of the day, GW didn't really know what do with it as a whole for sometime, so they attempted to reset it by making it a bit more like 40k. In doing so they failed to realize Fantasy's setting actually has a genuine appeal to it.
It's not as grand as it's sibling franchise, but it's strangely more down to earth.
I don't see how law vs chaos is all that much of a deviation from typical fantasy stories about law vs chaos by Poul Anderson and Michael Moorcock
Warhammer's struggle is more like order and civilization vs barbarism and entropy than anything else, making it closest thematically to Norse myth.
I'm less referring to the larger themes and more of the particulars.
Let's use the Empire as an example. Typically the lead human faction is some form of absolute monarchy in roughly the High Medieval period.
The Empire is an electoral monarchy in the late Renaissance or very early Modern era.
It's more surface level then not, but it's enough of difference from the norm it's noticeable.
30k > 40k
TOW/WHFB > AOS
Simple as.
I keep on hearing that Age of Sigmar is bad. Can someone explan why to me? My only Warhammer exposure is TWWH.
Warhammer fantasy is relatively grounded Dark Fantasy. It had guns and swords and magic, and it even has steam powered tanks, blimps, and gyrocoptors. Age of Sigmar has Dwarfs wearing monacles and top hats piloting giant mechs.
interesting, thanks
>terrible naming convention, now everything has to be copyrightable

>overdesigned miniatures
>no real stakes in the story
>WHFB had to die so it could live
>round bases, no regiments
>space marines, but fantasy
I can go on.
>overdesigned miniatures
I haven't touched AoS and I hate the setting but I will defend the minis. There are some losers in there but generally they're fucking great.
GW is falling behind in the design departament. If you want tasteful fantasy miniatures you should look at what Conquest is offering. Not this slop.
It's funny cause weebs consoomed Avatar the Last Airbender elves so hard GW threw wave two at them less then half a year later
Doesn't mean it's not trash.
Compare it to those.
Sort of apples and oranges. Pic rel seams to be closer in subject metrer to one of those
Check it out mom: I can cherrypick too!
>cherrypick
That's the thing, I didn't need to cherrypick, you buffoon. It's one of an army worth of minis looking like this.
Beautiful
AoS sculpts are embarrassingly bad and it's no more apparent than when you compare two iterations of the shame model
Left
>Grounded, yet imposing and visually interesting pose
>Designed to actually sit will on it's base, won't easily tip over and can be effortlessly ranked or set base-to-base
>Not cluttered with appendages and unnecessary minute detail
Right
>Total fucking mess

>Everything needs to bombastic, larger than life and also let's add some pointy edges to everything
>Flames are cool, put some flames in there
>So cluttered with visual noise it's hard to even get a decent read on model
>Center of mass so fucked up this entire thing will tip over and break apart if you cough in it's direction
>Impossible to b2b because of all the protruding clutter
The model on the right is a fantasy model you retarded secondary.
It's an End Times model that's for all intents and purposes following the design philosophy of AoSmegma figures.
How is wfb fallowing AoS design philosophy. Do you have any idea how time works?
ESL moment
I knew this pendantic bullshit was the only cope you have to fall back on.
Here's another example of the bad instincts the designers followed.
Left
>Grounded design, model communicates Wight is proceeding with undying determination without sperging out
Right
>AAAAARGHHH!!
>I'M B-B-B-B-BAD TO BONE
>B-B--B-B-B-BBAWDD
Go ahead and cope how it's ackshually an end times release. Shit like this is why AoS tanked.
I hate how you can't even use the new models in WHFB because you can't rank them up properly.
Everything has to have DYNAMIC poses.
In addition, every model can only have the one pose ~~*we*~~ decided for you, unless you're willing to start snapping plastic off.
I will however admit I was able to rank up the new VC horsemen without too much of an issue when I was commissioned to paint a unit of them.
You can usually rank one row of cavalry no problem, but good luck trying to make two of them.
Imagine trying to make a regiment out of the new Chaos Warriors.
>implying you had real freedom back when they all had to fit closly in lines
Planty of the old kits were literally 1 pose repested ad nauseum + command squad
There might be some truth to that, but at least you get to choose that one pose yourself instead of being handheld.
When it comes to horde armies, you're actually supposed to use larger bases inside the ranks, equivalent to say 4 models, to create variation and more dynamic units.
....Anon the left model sucks. That horse is retarded and the wings are 2yuge. A stiff breeze will have that skellyman flying like Dumbo
Sometimes I wonder if you gays even believe this shit yourself or if you're just trying to be as inflammatory as possible.
>Giant fucking wings on the helmet bigger than the skeleton's torso
>Grounded
>kit includes nefarata, arkhan and mannfred
>can make 2 foot heroes with the lords you didn't use
>easy to make look good with minimal effort
>tons of spare parts to fuck around with
its a fantasy model and it follows the design philosophy of fantasy models
>can make 2 foot heroes with the lords you didn't use
You don't get standing legs for them, so you're in for a treat with this one
it took me like 2 minutes with greenstuff to get them to stand with their legs, if you can't do shit like this you're a hobbylet
You're such a bad liar, lmao.
Also, as
this anon said, you would get TONS of bits you could use for conversion purposes. Oh, what's that? Every mini is monopose now? :^)
>easy to make look good with minimal effort
That's just a blatant lie, because nu-Mannfred looks like Avengers garbage compared to older model
>tons of spare parts to fuck around with
Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember how much more spare parts you got from the old boxes. You can try to pass off this lie on Ganker, it might work, might not.
Except that it isn't, and if you're going to pull some pendantry about how it was actually released during the end times, the design philosophy of AoS is adamantly present in the new Mannfred.
It's overdesigned for the sole purpose of making it harder for 3d printers to make bootlegs.
We had this thread yesterday.
Every time I look at this I always find something even more retarded. It's so bad.
I really do wonder what the thought process behind stuff like that was, surely they realised people were going to think it's shit
At the time, GW was absolutely scrambling for new Age of Sigmar content to get people hyped. They thought literally anything would satisfy, and for some it did - i.e. the mouthbreathing consoomers.
It was from sone throwaway rules suplement thing nobody even remembers now. It's just posted as bait because everything must be about culture war
How the fuck is that about the culture war? It's just an infamously shitty map that sums up how nonsensical AoS lore is.
Of course it gets posted for the (You)s nowadays but I'm just fascinated by how amateurish it is for an official publication, and this is coming from someone who likes AoS
>It's just posted as bait because everything must be about culture war
It's posted because someone was actually paid to make something that looked like it was from an amateur D&D campaign and was then okay'd by GW corporate for publication.
Fuck off, shill.
1.) Takes away the 16th century grimdark messy feel of WHFB that was fairly unique for fantasy settings for more gold and shiny World of Warcraft aesthetics
2.) Everything is about gods and dimensions, when WHFB was relatively grounded and Gods were distant unseen forces.
3.) WHFB had a well-developed world and history with lots of lore. AoS has little lore and is just "anything goes". Lord Blah blah throwaway daemon prince invades the blah blah fortress of the blipbloop realm and the battle is never heard from again. There are no in-universe boundaries or regulations. You used to have to explain why Lizardmen were appearing in Nehekhara and it required some sense of internal consistency. With AoS, everyone is everywhere. The "big world, long journey" aspect of Warhammer is dead when everyone teleports around dimensions.
4.) The models look stupid and often have retarded names (i.e. Orcs are Orruks, Lizardmen are Seraphon, Ogres are Ogors, Dwarfs are Hearthkyn or some shit.
5.) It wanks Chaos and basically makes it the big-bad. Nagash and Malekith went from world-ending threats to other gods that get along with Sigmar for the most part. Orcs and Ogres (ahem, Orruks and Ogors) are just annoyances. Undead are goodguys more often than not. Everybody really just waits to fight Chaos or has minor skirmishes without them. Unfortunately 40k is just becoming the same thing
6.) Nothing feels like it matters by having 9 different dimensions of cosmic bullshit instead of grounded towns, villages, countries with relatable histories and borders.
I'm not sure how the gameplay itself is, though I hear it's more simplified and streamlined than WHFB. However the lore is the main problem. You used to be able to get lost reading Warhammer Fantasy lore for hours whereas you can know about Age of Sigmar's with a quick skim.
Don't forget they just squatted Brettonia and Tomb Kangz
>Nagash and Malekith went from world-ending threats to other gods that get along with Sigmar for the most part. Orcs and Ogres (ahem, Orruks and Ogors) are just annoyances. Undead are goodguys more often than not.
Anon please what the fuck this hasn't been true since Nagash tried to kill everyone and everything (again). The Orcs are also the main spearhead against Chaos since its their not!Grimgor thats smashing into the Eight Points.
But you're right about Ogres. Which sucks since I play them. They should be allowed to ally in with every other faction because maneaters but we're stuck off on our own with half of our models still incredibly shitty.
Giants stole all the traces of lore relevance from fat retard. Sucks to suck fatty
Giants are lame
>Everybody really just waits to fight Chaos or has minor skirmishes without them
this makes sense to me. Elves, Dwarfs and Men would get along fine. Dark Elves would do some cheeky raids to gather slaves and resources but never all out war with others. just kinda poking the bear type stuff. Lizardmen dont leave their shitty Jurrassic Park island. too busy playing Go Fish and having gay lizardman sex with each other in the spawning pools. than to actually follow up on the Old Gods initial plan to holocaust all the warm bloods and even if they TRIED their shit would get wrecked immediately and they probably know this (without the help of Mazdamundi). If anything they would just enter a tenuous agreement with them to keep away from each other. you get THAT half of the world and we get THIS half.
Orcs and Gobs gonna be Orcs and Gobs.
Tree Elves LITERALLY want NOTHING to do with anyone.
Undead arent really a problem. Stay the fuck out of the Nehekhara lol. Its not like theyre leaving those dunes anytime soon.
which just leaves Chaos to start shit up every now and then. Every Faction in Warhammer really just plays borderpatrol for the most part. Its not like the Imperium of Man feels the need to march upon the enemy and most places outside of their borders are uninhabitable shitlands for one reason or another (yeah bros. lets sail across the sea and march into the Frozen waste to fight these mutant demon monsters and 10IQ cannibal savages!). Realistically why wouldnt you as a Bretonnian stay home and sip tea with your High-Elf bro talking about the history fine arts?
Shut up, tertiary.
>Nagash and Malekith went from world-ending threats to other gods that get along with Sigmar for the most part
Nagash and Sigmar very much do not get along. Malekith just does it because he knows Chaos is a bigger threat, and even then he just keeps to himself.
Only secondaries hate it. Most people's impression of AoS is from faggy youtubers with OC donut steel space marine avatars.
My favourite par is how you can tell where they cone from by seeing what blantant lies they repeat. Like the Malekith melding with a dragon thing that never happened
Adding to what other anons said, it had a horrible launch.
1 - the game was filled with these "fun" real-life things you could do. If you charged with a certain unit and, in real life, shouted something your units would charge a bit further.
2 - no fucking point system. Normally you battle against someone else and you each have an army worth, say, 2000 points. Here there were no points. Anything went as long as your opponent agreed.
Both these things where hated by the people who played Warhammer. It was changed later on, but it left a very bad first impression.
I have a distinct recollection (or possibly a false memory) of reading in an old WD that they intended AoS to be a "beer and pretzels game", which is about as insulting as you can get for a supposed continuation of WHFB.
Its not as bad as people claim it to be, its mostly sour taste left in people's mouths after the disaster that was the End Times and Age of Sigmar's own launch which was a disaster, no arguing about it
But its been patched up gameplay wise and while lore is much less grounded, I don't mind it myself
Remember what they took from us
Old world whfb was good, people finally found out what means fun instead of onions blizzard fanfics.
When I was a kid I made a pen and paper of helm deep siege
Where you just fight each other with rock paper scissors with paper cut out of Aragon gim and Lego and that one other elf
At first I tried to made one where I'm a game master and have two friends play against each other
But no one want to play as the uruk so I just made them played as one character instead and I control the hoard
It was all fun and game until the teacher took my whole set away and rip them up
I just started playing Dawn of War. I've finished the first campaign and started Winter Assault's 'Order' campaign.
Is really good and my first Warhammer game. I got DoW I, DoW II, and Spess Mehreen in a humble bundle years ago and am just now playing them.
Are there any other good 40k games.
>Are there any other good 40k games.
Counter-intuitively, no.
The good news is while you're playing the best DoW game, you're enjoying the worst expansion. Once you've completed the expansions, if you want more 40k install the ultimate apocalypse mod for DoW. It adds _everything_ into the game, even titans.
>Once you've completed the expansions, if you want more 40k install the ultimate apocalypse mod for DoW. It adds _everything_ into the game, even titans.
Don't do this. This mod is a bloated mess. The game engine berely even runs with that mod intalled.
Don't listen to this doomer from 2018. It actually runs fine. It's a huge mod, because the 40k universe itself contains a huge (some say bloated) amount of different factions and units. It's a patchwork job, but it's the best 40k you're going to get.
Apocalypse is good but I'd also suggest unification mod. It has a lot of new armies, like space marine chapters are done as a separate faction and are done quite well. I quite enjoyed playing as a chapter then reading up on it online. That and it has a very fun survival mode where you can pick any race for the horde. AI is also pretty decent there, I had AI horde rush rush transports, with suicide bombers inside ,through my defensive wall and doing their damnedest to Allahu Akbar my HQ at some point which was quite funny. That and you'll shit your pants when IG suddenly sends 4-5 baneblades on your ass. It has titans too, if very basic, but I'd highly recommend it if you like single player content.
Thanks. I was going to ask about that when the other anon Apocolypse since it seems Unification is still updated.
THIS. And also voice acting, if you give a damn about it. Cmon, fully voiced necrons?? Bitch, please.
Unification is like an expansion for DoW, changing little to nothing, it only adds content.
While Apoc changes everything from the ground.
TREMBLE. FOR I HAVE ARRIVED.
This one is cool too, sounds very robotic
THE ONE
THE ONLY
THE INFINITE
Warhammer fantasy is kino, 40 kringe is, well cringe. I avoided Darktide not because it was a buggy pile of shit that focused on paid cosmetics over fixing the fucking issues still there since closed beta but from the atrocious dialogue I'd be hearing all game
>FER DE EMPRAH
>EMPRAH BE PRAYSED
>KILL DA HERETICS
>DA EMPRAHS WILL BE DUN
>EMPRAH EMPRAH EMPRAH EMPRAH
>HERESY HERESY HERESY JERESY HERESY
Fuck. Off. Was the most insufferable shit I've ever heard. The Empire of Sigmar is somehow not as obnoxious as this imperium it's insane, also all of the characters sound the same, no personality at all compared to the kino roster from Vermintide. No wonder redditors prefer 40 kringe over Fantasy, it's like how people with triple digit iq enjoy Lord of the Rings while sòy faced manchildren like their Star Wars slop.
I'm honestly thinking of trying to paint some models because of total war.
Not paying games workshop even a penny of course.
Also warhammer fb laprers are based.
The Steamtank is so kino, shame it kinda sucks to use in game. Should have literally no problem flat rolling entire columns it's a fucking tank.
Didn't GW get btfo in the End Times game tournament when the forces of good actually beat the shit out of the evil factions? Completely, so bad that they got completely ass mad over it and made the End Times happen anyway?
That was Storm of Chaos.
Why'd they have to be cunts and flip the board like that instead of accepting the winning result? Age of Shitmar is shit and they should have taken the hint when their uber bad Ragnarok was decisively put down by skillfil board game autists.
That was Storm of Chaos iirc.
They wanted Chaos to win but they got stomped by Greenskins. In the story Grimgor literally kicks Archie in the balls and walks away bored. Then during 8th ed End Times happen anyways.
WHFB is and never has been a balanced game in its entire history. Guess which side has the strongest armies, and guess which two were the absolute bottom of the barrel.
It's not even about game balance. GW had no way to verify if the submited results were true, so greenskin players spammed reports of decisive victories
Cope and seethe.
t. WAAAAAAAAGH reciever.
How long did it take you to reach the conclusion that 40k is shit and that Fantasy is simply better?
holy shit that dude got knock down by a fucking giant and manage to stab them between the armor in the stomach.
Yes and if you notice the finishing blow was halted from that, hard to swing down when you have a sword stabbing your guts.
Respect to the twink managing to take down a monster like that.
>giant
kek, that's just your average norscan
Mark of Chaos completely mogs Total Warhammer. It had SOUL, while TWW is just slop bordering on capeshit.
>Mark of Chaos completely mogs Total Warhammer.
You didn't play MoC or TWW. No matter how you judge it, TWW has better gameplay
Not only did I play Mark of Chaos, I also played Battle March, have 150 hours in TWW1, own 1500 points of WoC, and another 1500 points of O&G. You're a secondary, and TWW is soulless slop made for people like you.
>bragging about 3000 points
I think you're the secondary in that scenario
>you have to have 10k points or you're not a real fan
now that's some good gw bootlicking
Great cinematic, shame about the game at best being average.
It helps that the Empire in fantasy actually has a belief in an afterlife, a good one with Sigmar watching over them giving them the courage to charge towards a line of hulking Greenskins and Chaos warriors unafraid, not the retarded le grimdark horseshit from 40k. Does the Imperium even have a belief in an afterlife or is it just the fedora shit of your consciousness fades in the Warp?
they believe that they sit at the emperor's side and fight the deamons in the warp from his realm. One passage describes his realm as a dreary place though
Love Mark of Chaos's and Vermintide's depictions of chaos warriors. They're big, bulky, and intimidating as fuck. In TWW they're floaty screaming retards with zero mass. I hate it.
>SOUTHLANDER
>COME.... FEED THE SWAMP
>MY STEEL YOUR FLESH
>I COME FOR YOUR FIRE HAG
>SIGMAR DOG
Meanwhile the Darktide crusher, the reskinned chaos warrior just kinda laughs a bit.
>I COME FOR YOU ELF WENCH!
>Darktide crusher
The crusher is just a form of chaos ogryn, its not that smart. However normal shooters still say stuff like "corpse worshippers!" etc. Wait till we get chaos space marines for better banter.
when Darktide got made and was inferior to Vermintide
It's less than the price of a cup of coffee on GOG right now.
Is it really good? I'm
and am Interested of more gems in the setting (yes I know I was asking about 40K but I'm interested in fantasy as well) and don't feel like shelling out hundreds of dollars for Total War.
It's ok but mostly unremarkable.
Fantasy mogs 40k because 40k, despite being this vast and diverse setting, is ludicrously one note. 90% of attention in 40k goes towards the Imperium and 90% of that attention goes to Space Marines. So while in Fantasy, you get an actual diversity of stories and rivalries and factions fleshed out, in 40k you have yet another Space Marine chapter that yet again knows no feat, yet again screams about courage and brotherhood and yet again has no interactions with the wider setting, other then "die heretic." Its just stale. And it became even worse with the Primarchs, because the already overwhelming 90% space marine focus was elevated to a 95%. So if you happened to like anything other then Space Marines or the Imperium, you´re in for a bad, baaaaaad experience.
I'm not gay. games workshop is gay
>spend an exponential amount of money for garbage when you can own your own pc, and 3d printer
It feels like an entire galaxy and yet the vast majority of happens and conflicts is centered around like four factions. I like when there is unique cool aliens or mysteries like the slaugh's, whatever the 4d spiders were called in Eisenhorn, Tyrant star, Even the blood pact/ sanguinary worlds.
40k also suffers from having absolutely no sense of place. Quite recently, you had this big narrative event at a place called Malakbael, where Angron fought over some planet we never heard off before (and never will again), for some second, newly discovered astronomicon (we never heard of it before and never will hear of it again), to destroy some crusade fleet (full of characters we, again, never heard of before and never will hear of again.) So you got this totally random mega event and... you dont even know WHERE it took place. Like, what was next to Malakbael? Whats to its left? Whats above it? There is some random line about some blood-curse drove thousands of planets into madness, yet you have no fucking idea where that happened. It could have been anywhere. And since you lack any direction or place, the entire story is totally inconsequential.
Thats not the case in Fantasy. If Be´lakor swoops in from Norsca to ravage Middenheim and spread a chaos curse, you know exactly where it took place. You know where Norsca is. You know where Middenheim is. You know the way of travel from Norsca to Middenheim. You know what is left and right and south of Middenheim, so you have a sense of place and area that is affected by this story. And that makes it feel like it isnt so god damn inconsequential, but an actual big narrative event with actual consequences.
also 40k universe is beyond stupid.
TWW is excellent because they extensively represent all of the major factions of WHFB in a way that feels almost like a fan project, and if you choose any faction (that isn't Chaos Daemons), you'll be able to play with a full roster of units that permit many different playstyles and forms of expression while fighting dozens of other factions. It's crazy how much shit you can encounter and do in Immortal Empires because there's tons of pieces they let you play with (just make sure to pirate literally everything and never pay a fucking cent for their ridiculous DLC train).
Conversely, in every single 40K game being made nowadays, the focal point is some singular faction fighting against 2-3 other factions, Chaos will literally 100% always be represented in some way as the "main" villain, and you will almost assuredly wind up either playing as, temporarily allying with, or generally supporting Space Marines. You'll never see the diverse range of armies, units, factions, subfactions, etc. in a 40K game because it will always be the same fucking Astartes/Orkz/Chaos rotation they just love to force into every fucking game. For a franchise that's swollen with possibility, they earnestly treat it no better than Star Wars.
People already told you it's by design so you don't substitute 600$ of models with a 60$ game
The bizarre part is that they don't actually compete. TWW would never have fought with the WHFB market because they aim for completely different things, and yet you can still pay upwards of $300+ for all three games+DLC+Tip to play with "everything". If GW wasn't helmed by complete retards, they'd know how easy it would be to make a game that plays nothing similar to 40K, but still represents all of the factions, and use it as an advertisement for the game. Hell, you could be just as Hebrew as CA and charge for DLC HQ units and some units surrounding them as well.
This. I hope rogue trader rpg will allow us to interact and see lots of shit and set a precedent for doing that kind of stuff.
Lmao, tww is fucking laughably bad in the strategy design, just spam tier 5 units and curbstomp everything, great strategy game dood
>just spam tier 5 units and curbstomp everything, great strategy game dood
You have just described every single player rts campaign ever.
I mean yeah.
everything up to the double Flash Gitz squad and PowerClaw Nobz was just flattery
counterpoint:
So, WH is CA biggest cowcash and now its almost over. What's next? WH4 Age of Sigmar or WH 40k?
There is no way they are just going to let the licence go and go back to history stuff, literally 0% of that happening.
I can see them going into different fantasy settings. Historycucks really can do nothing but seethe. I personally hope they do a LotR Toral War game but WB garden gnomes are so zealously protective of their licenses.
They're making a shooter game next about black lesbians stealing NFTs. Hyenas or something like that
#JointhePack
The only way I can enjoy 40k is something like the fan made Astartes videos. Cut out all that cringe reddit bullshit dialogue, hero theatrics and the chorus music and just show soldiers being fucking soldiers without a fifteen minute monologue. Space Marines CAN be cool, if thry didn't have this horrendous reputation about them and just acted like MARINES.
>tfw still no update on this shit after GW locked him in their basement
Fuckin rip
I have to assume he had a hand in making the Space Marine 2 trailer. It felt too much like the astartes format, no cringey LE PURGE LE XENO FOR LE EMPEROR dialogue, space marines don't say and only helmet reveal at the end to show Titus.
The Space Marine 2 trailer looked worse than Astartes, I thought
>just remove all the 40k from 40k, that's how you make 40k!
Retarded secondary.
they're pozzed, but I'd like to see some real 40k lizardman space pope
Bros how do I Bretonnia?
Just mass cavalry and shock and run around smashing into enemies?
Early-mid game you basically pretend you're playing Medieval 2 with combined arms. Peasants to hold the line, arrows to soften up enemies, trebuchets to have some actual threat in your non mobile army, and at least 4 cavalry to actually win you the battle, do hammer and anvil. Late game you just say fuck it and mass cavalry, grail guardians make a very good anvil despite also being cavalry. Or you can go full memestack with hyppogriff knights and just faceroll all the unchivalrous shits.
>keep it secret, keep it safe
fuck Warhammer, and fuck games workshop. they're so sleazy
it'll cost you less to build your own
esg garbage
everyone itt is gay, and stupid.
I hope lizardmen gets some of those big toppy headpieces when they get a visual overhaul. I hate how basic most infantry look.
We already saw Saurus overhaul
>Kroq-Gar's campaign
>Trying to finish off Manfred in a single settlement
>Comes out, fights and loses, immediately goes back and recovered his entire army to full when I get my turn
>Take out Skarbrand and his capital
>Actually got lucky enough to automatically capture two different settlements right as I did it
>Takes 5 years to get to a single one even with march
>Respawned two different times
I HATE CORRUPTION I HATE CORRUPTION I HATE CORRUPTION
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Fantasy has had exactly two good games. Both far from being without issues.
40K has had a few more but a similar track record.
MMO had a potential but it got fucked.
>chorfs expansion costs 20 quid while every other race pack was around 10 on release
are they out of their fucking mind
Bros why did they have to ruin Saurus... the old model was grounded and simple. Simply perfect.
>NO! Models cannot have cartoonish, but clear and readable proportions! They need to be sleek and cooler! Our ~~*research*~~ data supports this!
What kind of drugs do you need to look at left and prefer that over soulful right
>miiddlehammerzoomers trying to act uperior
True fans only like this oldhammer beauty made back when GW still carved miniatures in stone
>unreal tournament crossover
>X-com lizardmen
Now that would be fucking based
Right side looks shit. Nostalgia isn't an excuse not to update an army's core unit
>Prefering that sleek and intentionally serious tone Orruk ™ over the soulful character of these
I praise God I wasn't born retarded like you
It's okay to admit you have no persjavascript:;onal taste
Imagin believing modern orks are anywhere close on "intentionally serious" scale to orruks
God that wave of orks releases was so fucking shit
Now I know how WoWfags feel with how embarrassingly bad their game has become.
I guess people buy this shit? There's no way you fund this if you don't have some data enforcing these decisions.
>posts a WFB hero model instead of the scalie bait that will actually be replacing saurus
I'm no longer hyped for Old World if this is real. Glad I didn't ever get rid of my 2k pts of Lizardmen.
I think those are supposed to be AoS lizardmen
They are, its why the one on the left is glowing. In AoS lizardmen are made of starstuff and ride around on giant old one temple spaceships
The only thing that made lizardmen in warhammer unique was the aztec theme it had going on. Now they just look like standard lizardmen I see in just about every other fantasy setting.
In trying to be unique (in a mild and inoffensive way) they remove any and all traces of uniqueness. Seems to be pretty commonplace these days.
Honestly I think because its gamesworkshop, it was probably something to do with money.
What are you even talking about? The only major concept change is the shield and there's nothing aztec about dinosaur scales shields
Yoi are retarded and ignorant if you don't see the obvious aztec references in the lizardmen models from WHFB
This is the old saurus. What design elements make him aztec?
On that specific model. obviously the weapon. More obvious with the onehanded equivalent which went from macuahuitl and various other aztec weaponry to generic clubs As a unit the banners and musicians are obviously aztec inspired but you already knew this you disingenuous cunt you do this every fucking thread
>As a unit the banners
It's the same imagery of a snake with tongue out and feathers on his head. Difference is the spce alien texture
So the difference is that it's no longer aztec. Yes that's what we've bveen saying.
>the spce alien texture
yeah i hate it
I mean I kinda like it, but at the same time it feels like flanderization of Lizardmen using rare remnants of old ones tech
Its not that rare anymore in AoS anon. The spaceships are real and they're full of lizards.
>Common threads run through the history of Mesoamerican culture and particularly in art. The Olmec, Maya, Toltec, and Zapotec civilizations, amongst others, perpetuated an artistic tradition which displayed a love of monumental stone sculpture, imposing architecture, highly decorated pottery, geometric stamps for fabric and body art, and breathtaking metalwork which were all used to represent people, animals, plants, gods and features of religious ceremony, especially those rites and deities connected to fertility and agriculture.
>Aztec made use of number of styles and patterns in their artistic designs. Some of these designs made use of geometrical objects, symmetrically brought together in long lines.
My question to you is this: Why do you get satisfaction over pretending to be completely retarded? The very image you posted yourself portrays how the old banner model is Aztec inspired, while the nu-male version is a bastard version of the former - soul
People who come here have eye sight.
Nice cherrypick choosing a poorly painted saurus, why don't you choose a hero or a lord? Oh yeah, its because it would prove my point, go be deshonest somewhere else
Here are studio paints of the exact same banner hero type
The banner on the left is so overdesigned and cluttered.
Good thing that it's not a banner then.
Doesn't make it any better. Right is simple, grounded and overall superior.
>that
>grounded
Left is supposed to look like a mayan calendar inspired thing and succeeds at that. Right is magic bullshit with lightning effects all over and that's "more grounded" Yeah...
You forgot the 20 skulls, 2 snake heads, golden ball and 10 different talisman and trinkets hanging from the left one.
Right is simple and clear, left is overdesigned slop.
Yeah like aztec trophies or something on the aztec lizards that are now gone. Crazy.
How is "soul vs. soulless" phenomena so easy to spot? It's like magic.
Isn't it the same unit just two different models, with the left one being cheaper?
That's not an old Saurus model first and foremost.
Yes it is. It's the currently in use wfb Saurus. New saurus model would be the Aos one
Sure whatever, but there are models older than that.
Woah look at that lizard pelvis bone
Sexo
Should I play call of warhammer? Is it good
Goddamn you AoS bootlickers are pathetic. Imagine missing out on FaBa and having to pay twice the price for even less models, and having to pay nearly tenfold if you want some out of production characters.
If Chad Kemmler was released today he'd be floating through the air with a bunch of unnecessary fiddly bullshit. The nu-hammer designers would never be able to restrain themselves like this.
>NOOO YOU HAVE TO JUMP ON THE HATE BANDWAGON BECAUSE.... JUST BECAUSE OKAY
AoS has its issues but I'm not gonna be eternally asshurt because a youtuber told me so.
>Imagine missing out
Only prople who missed out are tww zoomers who didn't know what warhammer is until they saw skaven porn on furraffinity. Average model owner just continues his decades old hobby
Total War is too hard
It's really really bullshit dude
just play dwarfs, sit in defence and pount enemy with your superior arty
I really wanted to play brettonia man, but the devs clearly didn't want anyone to do so
Okay, real shit, how kino will Dwarf vs Chaos Dwarf be?
>Artillery on Artillery violence
>Big armored mother fuckers with guns charging at each other
>One has God damn helicopters while the other employs MACHINE DEMONS
>Rune Magic vs Forge Magic
>Gobbo Grudge Throwers vs hordes of Hobbos
Is this what 40kfags hope for with Dorn's Bros vs the Iron Warriors?
GOD I can't fucking wait to play as the chorfs, my dick is already erect for the Artillery alone
Chorfs will get royally fucked by regular Dwarfs based on what we've seen so far because
>Chaos Dwarf Blunderbusses
>90 range
>Thunderers
>160 range
>Hellcannons outright lose to regular Dwarf Canons because Dwarf Canons have more models and are more accurate
>Dwarfs have better chaff
They don't JUST have access to hellfire as their only arty do they?
Pay no attention to this retard. They have Skullcrackers (?) lava cannons, hellfire cannons, the trains.
Chorfs are going to be absurd on release. Bull centaurs have better stats than Minotaurs with shields and are a fucking cav unit.
The blunderbusses have shorter range, but get a good flank off and you will turn anything they hit into fucking jelly.
>Dawi
no unit caps
can spam anything from Ironbreakers, Organ Guns, Grudge Throwers and Flame Cannons
>Dawi zharr
unit caps for Dawi zharr
You're forced to use gobbos and orcs for most of the game
can't spam anything because CA wants players to play like MPmorons
There's going to be ways to increase the caps, surely, like the Beastmen.
Lore wise it makes sense, Chorf armies were always comprised mostly of greenie slaves to soak up all the damage. I personally have no problem with it
>There's going to be ways to increase the caps, surely, like the Beastmen.
Looking at the buttons on their UI, they have a forge system of their own, so that's probably how you'll increase caps.
They also have something similar to Steam Tanks, but its stats haven't been shown off yet. I brought up Hellcannons because we know what they do already.
So far it seems like Chaos Dwarfs have much less range than Dwarfs, but much higher firepower when in range, and they rely on their added mobility with Bull Centaurs and huge amounts of chaff to enable them to position. Blunderbusses are basically just Iron Hail Gunners.
Chorfs do also have monsters and magic
Chorfs have flying beasts, cavalry and wizards
Their arty isnt as important as the dwarfs, i think
Wait don't Chorfs have 4 Hellcannons per unit?
Why do they only get one just like WoC and Norsca?
Why on earth would you think they get 4 per Hellcannon unit?
They're its creators, WoC and Norsca buy shit from Chorfs so it was understandable if they only fielded one per unit.
luv Nakai
Is he still bugged?
Playing Bear Daddy in IE is harsh, goddamn.
>Enemies everywhere
>Archaon and his bitch boys to the east
>Malus and Daemon Prince to the west
>Throgg to the south
>Allies nowhere
>Labyrinthian terrains that you cant defend with one army
>Shitty economy and lack of trading so you cant afford a second army
>A lot of technologies and buffs raises diplomatic relation with Kislev and Empire
>You can't get in contact with them unless you manage to get out
>No access to the 3 big cities of Kislev
>Devotion mechanic is about choosing which side wins, but it offers you no benefit whatsoever
Holy shit, I feel like playing an NPC faction like Estalia or something. Its like I have zero campaign mechanics. This is even harder than Karl Franz, because at least the Emperor can steamroll into greatness eventually. Thank god for my two bear units, but I need to hurry to not have them get obsoleted.
He was probably meant to be a bonus challenge character.

Never forget that secondaries are responsible for the death of Warhammer Fantasy. Yes, you, the gay reading this, the one who loved talking about the lore and the setting and even bought a couple novels, but never spent a single dime on models or paints. It's your fucking fault Fantasy died.
I bought Battle for Skull Pass 15 years ago. I am not part of the problem.
Anon secondaries weren't truly a thing until GW's marketing push with AoS/8e with Rountree at the helm and the rise of Youtube lore morons. It was very niche before then. The actual fans were to blame for not buying shit.
40k secondaries have been a thing since DoW, and GW only have to blame their shitty practices for people not buying their plastic.
Not my problem. I have never bought anything from GW and don't plan to. WHFB has literally gotten better since GW dropped it.
>Muh my 10 shades of blue and overpriced plastic.
Just buy any other paints and "unofficial" models.
>don't play the game becuase you're a secondary that doesn't play TT
>this is somehow the reason it died
Why would they be responsible when they aren't even a part of it?
I enjoy warhammer fantasy lore and the setting is fun and I will never buy the plastic miniature toys.
Total War Warhammer and Vermintide are the best things to happen to warhammer because more fun warhammer games can be made and the entire IP won't be shackled to just tabletop, there can be both miniatures and other warhammer entertainment.
Also this is the video game board and your tabletop hardly matters here.
imagine the scent
chud necrohole mixed with insulin needles and estrogen patches
40k was better because for year it had:
>less models
>better models
>easier rules
Overall, this made it much easier for casuals to get into.
Lorewise, they're about equal in that "I cribbed the entire section of fantasy/scifi books, please don't notice." Fun people claiming they're amazing need to read more books.
>Make the rules easier and more streamlined
>But also disperse them into multiple different books which can slow gameplay to a complete halt as nothing is properly indexed
>Also whenever someone announces plans for an application that joins relevant rules to one simple database, send lawyers after them
>Why is nobody buying our tabletop game??
Sometimes I think I could overtake this entire field.
Sadly, at this point, GW is essentially too big to fail. They could fuck up their games for 1-2 decades and people would come running back the moment they became palatable again.
Fantasy died because it didn't sell
AoS lives because it sells
Secondaryshitters won't admit this, but it's the truth
>World is a copy paste of our world
>Fantasy Europe is populated with fantasy French and German
>Fantasy Russia is populated with fantasy Slavs
>Fantasy norse is made of Fantasy Vikings
>Arabs and Egypt has Tomb Kings
>Asia has Cathay (and Ind)
>Americas has astek lizardmen
>Africa has...
>Astek lizardmen
>French knights
>Dwarfs
Africans getting voided by GW is never not hilarious to me
morons are The Greenskins
>Greenskin
>Populate mostly baltics

No, Warhammer has literal Pygmy morons.
dont google pygmies
>sell your soul for a quick buck
>oy vey we're saved
They're going to fuck up Vlad with Old World, aren't they?
Spent my youth growing up with the idea that 40K was more awesome than fantasy. It's super humans in space, fighting demons and aliens and shit. In the end realised that Fantasy had the better setting, characters, lore etc
>duuude those space marines sell pretty good
>lets put them in fantasy too
Is this really what the vast majority of players and buyers wants?
Not really. Where AoS makes bank Is their large centerpiece models. Many of which are pretty dope. AoS Be'lakor has been a best seller for a while.
They have basically always been the single most popular AoS faction, but at only like 10-15% of the more diversly split playerbase as opose to 50+ % of Space Marines in 40k qnd 70+% of Imperium
And it worked. AoS sells, unlike WHFB
I love how they intentionally made them easy as fuck to paint too, as well as being boring as shite, just to try and cash in on new players. Just give them a thin coat of metallic paint, give them a wash for shading and you're good to go.
Oh yes I'm sure you paint Empire troops with checkerboard patterns meanwhile.
They're unironically better than space marines, especially now that they've fixed their proportions. Their respawn mechanic has interesting consequences in the lore. Where 40k marines are just
>the best of the best! a squad of marines can solo an ork army without any casualties!
The sigmarines have been conditioned to fight like its team death match. They are really fucking bad at strategy and win the day through their tactics and heavy use of reforging. Its their greatest strength, being able to just hit redo on any fight they lose over and over until they win.
But their greatest strength is also their greatest weakness and every death strips pieces of their minds and souls away until they're nothing but empty husks, and since they keep abusing the respawn mechanic they're racing faster and faster towards a fate they'll never be able to recover from.
Its a nice little metaphor for the dehumanising nature of war that I didnt expect from AoS but there it is.
>Its a nice little metaphor for the dehumanising nature of war that I didnt expect from AoS
I'm also 100% sure it's completely accidental.
Why don't they just make Rising Storm but 40k? It'd be great
How is the eventual total war: 40k game going to play?
It's not. Hyenas will get the 40k crossover
>Hyenas
Oh god
I just want Estalia and other southern realms. How much longer do I have to wait?
Will never happen anon
They had an early concept regarding Stormcast which was actually quite interesting and could have been developed as time goes on which was that a Stormcasts soul wasn't necessarily a former human and that Sigmar had also had the spirits of dawi, elves and even orcs and made them Stormcast troops. This aspect was dropped early on since they had to do the 'Helmets off' thing and show hey there's a human of all color and gender underneath.
>had also had the spirits of dawi, elves and even orcs
Just say dwarf you retard.
Weird thing to triggered by but fine. Dwarf. You Happy?
t. going in the book of grudges
Screw you umgi
You can blame "the fans". Everyone cried how they need to be explicedly shown that the masked characters are human to relate to them, so GW said fuck it and from 2e onwards tgey started removing helmets to give people what they wanted. And then the same people cried they don't like the human heads
>Angron comes back
>DUDE HE SO ANGRY HE CORRUPTED AN ENTIRE CRUSADE OF SISTERS AND PRIMARIS FOR KHORNE LMAO BLOOD MAGIC
>HE SO ANGRY HE CORRUPTED AN ENTIRE CRUSADE OF SISTERS AND PRIMARIS FOR KHORNE
Huh?
Left looks better aside from that weird shit on his head. More dynamic pose, more and sharper details, whereas right is more resemblant of something you'd get out of a Kinder Egg.
Why the fuck are you spastics arguing over something so stupid? Lizardmen are so obviously based on Meso-America and have some futuristic designs because they're literally the creations of alien frog gods.
Because there's an obvious change in design philosophy in the new stuff. And because this is the internet someone always has to argue about obvious shit.
Same happens in Warhammer 40K where Space Marines turned into Halo Spartans instead of space knights and anons get really butthurt arguing otherwise.
Someone decided to sperg over mostly naked lizards changing the texture of their swors
>texture
You must actually be blind if you can't spot the difference in overall art style. The sci fi texture shit is just one aspect of it.
AoS total war will save us soon bros
The new Age of Sigmar Saurus Warriors clash with the old Lizardmen lore a bit.
The fact is, 6th edition (and onward) Lizardmen had no access to hard metal, they used for their weapons and spears a material called "Obsinite" which is a rock. You can see that the 'Eavy Metal painted Saurus Warriors of old and the Total War Saurus Warriors don't have metal tips on their spear for this reason.
They only had access to soft metal like gold, and they used it for decorations, rings, necklaces, amulets, trimming.
The Age of Sigmar Saurus Warriors on the other hand rely on hard metal for their new shield, and even their weapons and their banner look like they have "hard metal" parts of some kind of iron/steel
Fantasty is hard carried by total war if that didnt exist no one would give a shit which is why I desperatly want a stellaris version of 40k instead of giving rights to literal who companies to pump out shit game although the owlcat game looks good
This thread makes me wish I was at home so I could post the screencap I took of a guy claiming the "old" ogre models were much better than the "new" ogre models. They were the same models.
This board is terminally retarded sometimes but that takes the cake
Remember the exact same tging with 'Ardboyz and Black Orcs. Retards get confused by bases and paintjobs and don't even realise it's the exact same thing
>Is the most kino region in the entire world
God I wish they add araby at some point to make it even more fun
I mean they've managed to shoehorn literal whos like Vampire Coast, Norsca, Cathay and Chaos Dwarfs, so Araby is 100% happening at some point or I'll eat my hat.
There's no room for them
kick out the literall who vampire factions or tomb king and just shove in araby
Araby and Ind have less to go on then any of those except Cathay, and the only reason Cathay got added was for the 3 kingdoms and chinabux.
>literal whos
>chorfs
They included the fucking Fimir, an ancient monster race that's pre-Heroquest era GW. If anything killed fantasy it was how GW took expection to people taking few models with massive point costs and just enough necessary units to satisfy the rules. It became a game balanced around making huge "tar-pit" armies, which sold more models and paint overall, and was laborious when trying to resolve combat. It's still reflected in the video-game, many factions still have glorified mobs of cannon-fodder whose only job is to hold up the opposing army up while it's main damage dealers (magic, artillery, monstrous units, cavalry etc.) do the killing.
Most Warhammer games are shit because GW are retarded when it comes to giving away licensing rights, so it's technically GW fault. You would think that an IP that is so insanely wast would have tons of good games about it, but we only have a handful that are actually worth playing.
Battlefield 40k when
>even with skeletons you can tell which one is the edition without soul
Bonus: Goldstein demanded even skeletons to be rebranded behind a invented nu-male word which I won't repeat hear in order to not give the marketing team hits.
This hobby is just over.
Is it something dumb and on the nose like "deadblight bonerlords"?
>deadblight bonerlords
kek, i've been out of the hobby for 10 years and that sounds so spot on it has to be right
If that came off the dome, I hope the check is in the mail because they should hire you to come up with this garbage
Here's another one. Who gives the "okay" to these decisions? Since there appears to be a fair bit of GW shills in the thread, please explain the reasoning why you would rape the design like this. The core audience can't be 12 year olds, because they don't have the patience nor income to support a hobby like this.
Why are you so gay?
Aren't they different units?
I know for a fact left is the Vampire Counts Black Coach because my friend had one back in the day, and the Disney antagonist on the right is whatever comes up when you query for "Black Coach" on GW's own site.
I just don't know what to say.. these choices must be run by someone in charge, who's either become utterly incompetent or then the marketing team really is fabricating the data. I refuse to believe humanity has become so retarded that the new design is preferred over the previous theme.
>dissing the new black coach
With the skeletons, I can account that on taste, not everyone likes the armor or less generic appearance. But the new black coach mogs the old one so fucking hard it's not even funny. It's a much, MUCH better model.
No dude you don't get it, a youtuber told me to hate it so I must.
Please explain further, what exactly stands out as an improvement? What in particular impresses you about the model? I'm genuinely curious, I realize my time with the hobby is long past and I'm no longer the target audience.
It's a spooky ghost chariot with actual ghosts swirling around it, it actually flies instead of just being a regular carriage and the whole model has a sense of movement to it, unlike the old one. Look at the cloth by the windows, for example. On the old one, they're static, in the new one, it has wind blowing in them and making them move. The horses look like skeletal horses with proper skulls, they're actually far less cartoony than the old one's skulls. The wood on the carriage has actual sculpted texture rather than a flat surface. The rider has a more detailed and better sculpted weapon, which he also holds in a better pose, with the weapon lifted up in a resting pose as he drives the carriage, rather than the awkward downward positioning of the old one's scythe. There's more, but you should be getting the idea here.
You're wrong because Arch said so, so all of the improvements are actually bad. Movement? Details? Bad, all bad, just like
pointed out, old good new bad.
>Letting a retard like Arch live rent free in your mind
He was easily the biggest loretuber on the scene at the time and used his platform to cast AoS in a very negative light(not entirely unwarranted) However tons of people never looked into it further and to this day just stick with the idea that literally everything about a setting they don't actually know anything about is bad because Arch said so in 2015.
Buit really it's just a hyperbole to make fun of sheeple who just jump on a hate bandwagon and never leave despite being a secondary who never interacted with any GW system.
Obviously, but bringing him up out of nowhere is just stupid. It doesn't help your argument at all
Prove you aren't an NPC yourself and refute
Not gonna waste my time on bait that can't even get the simple detail that the new one is part of the ghost faction rather than vampire counts right.
>No argument just buzzwords
Typical of an eceleb worshipping NPC retard
>eceleb worshipping
You know I was mocking Arch right
You're the only one bringing him up and I never even heard of him before this.
Just because you're cattle incapable of forming your own opinion doesn't mean others are like you.
>You're the only one bringing him up
>it's all one anon!
>It's multiple anons making the exact same post about the exact same eceleb every time someone criticizes AoS
Retard
Yes Arch and secondaries are a common punching bag.
You're comeback is that there is no Vampire Counts anymore?
You do realize VC got split into three separate factions?
And you're leading me to believe that we cannot draw a comparison between the old BC and the "modern" version, because they do not belong precisely to the same faction?
This is the most pedantic pathetic cope I have ever witnessed on Ganker. You are an NPC buddy.
No the point is that it has a ghost aesthetic now because it's part of the ghost army, retard. It's not trying to be identical.
>wah the skeleton horses are ghost horses now, I shat my pants!
Black Coaches were incorporeal units (ie ghosts) long before AoS happened.
So the new one is an objective improvement because it actually conveys this then?
The old one conveyed it better. We were 9 years old when this was released and we understood precisely what it was.
No, fuck off.
The "ghost army" as well as the "ghoul army" along with the "skeleton army" WAS Vampire Counts.
The "ghost army" inherited the Coach, and along it the sculpture was raped as is part and parcel with AoS.
>wah the skeleton horses are ghost horses now, I shat my pants!
You've been mindbroken by Ganker into either not being able to explain your reasoning, or lean into the curve by not even trying because you're afraid of the onslaught you know my eloquent ass will launch on you.
In other words, you lost by concession and I promise you wouldn't be able to defend a single case of Faba versus AoS.
Go ahead, take the last word moron 🙂
VC barely had a handful of ghost units like spirit hosts and banshees. AoS is the one that made an actual army out of it with a new aesthetic, the new aesthetic the coach is now a part of.
You have no point beyond old good new bad.
It's literally just a normal coach with skeleton horses. How does this portray "incorporeal ghost unit" in any way whatsoever in the necromancer army that raises skeletons form the grave? You people are so full of shit.
>VC barely had a handful of ghost units like spirit hosts and banshees
Not him but how is this a bad thing? VC were a varied army because they had a couple units for various popular undead tropes, namely skeles and zombies, ghouls and straight up ghosts. Splitting that up and just expanding each category so you can get enough units for 3 one-note armies did nothing for them.
You see, it creates division and forces you to buy three armybooks instead of one for starters. Furthermore, GW can garden gnome you out and spread the amount of miniatures you need to buy in order to play these separated factions if you adhere to their Hasidic rulebooks and armylists.
This is made even more pathetic that the "ghost army" is literally only that, the same cloaked ghost iterated 30 different times. Oh wait, there's one vaguely female ghost, so there is some variation actually.
>Oh wait, there's one vaguely female ghost
That's not how it works, idiot. These are not armies you play as a soup mishmash. And in fact if you did play soup you'd just need their warscrolls from the website and generic Death army ruleset.
The multiple books thing comes from supplementary material like campaign books, White Dwarf updates and Chapter approved. It's more of a 40K problem really.
>It's literally just a normal coach with skeleton horses. How does this portray "incorporeal ghost unit" in any way whatsoever in the necromancer army that raises skeletons form the grave? You people are so full of shit.
>WOOW HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!
You should maybe use those language learning chat AIs to explain to you what "indication" is and how normal non-autistic human beings observe and deduce things.
The original Coach is an excellent npc filter because the supernaturality isn't overtly stated like it's cereal box revisioning. First of all, it appears like one of the carriages the native regal Sylvanian humans used. This is juxtaposed with the carriage being pulled by undead horses. And at it's helm sits the necromancer, subdued, yet clearly menacing and dangerous. Notice how he doesn't have to yell 'BOO' in order to communicate that he is indeed associated with something heinous. The macabre display is further driven by the impaled corpse - now decayed into mere skeletal remains - hoisted on top of the carriage almost to taunt the mortal men who lay eyes on this wagon. The more observant viewer might recognize the unholy insignias tattered across the sides along with the open (or closed) casket containing a sleeping vampire.
I challenge you to even attempt to put together three sentences describing what you prefer about the nu-male version.
I'm not reading all of that, moron.
In other words, you are an NPC and mindbroken by Ganker.
It wasn't a genuine exchange though, since I was holding the royal flush from the beginning. Even an articulate guy like myself would not be able to defend the abomination of Smegmar.
You argument is literally "If I use flowery language I can say it looks better than it really does".
You lost, AoS NPC.
Are you searching for another youtuber to think your rebuttal for you?
No, I'm laughing that out of all the FB factions you defend you pick the one that's literally "Generic vampire tropes smashed together".
VCounts were based you subhuman moron.
They're not even good at the Vampire tropes you retards.
Their leader is literally name fucking Vlad.
At least Vamp Coast put a decent spin on it.
>Their leader is literally name fucking Vlad.
Yeah, the von Carsteins being some Bong's crude idea of what a German/Austrian aristocrat would be named was fucking great and hilarious.
He's literally named after Vlad the Impaler you fucking retard.
Yes, and?
>Mannfred, Konrad and whatever Vlad's less prominent sons were named
They're pretty much a pulpy mix of Transsylvanian stereotypes.
>Hey we need to name the leader of our vampires
>Lmao just call him Dracula
I'll take it any day compared to Soulless Dicksuckers
>"Generic vampire tropes smashed together"
Based, this is what they took from us.
Samefag less.
Status: mindbroken
You got your slop toy brutally stomped on and faba chads won again. Everyone is laughing at you.
>faba chads won again.
Nice setting you got, retard. Where is it?
>B-but TOW
Not gonna be the same.
Mindbroken.
Your slop toy was outed as the Marvel junk it is, while the actual Coach was valiantly defended by an anonymous necromancer.
I too know how to uncheck the (you) box.
Trying way too hard dude.
>Generic vampire tropes smashed together
I'll take 10 copies, you can have all the slop zoomer.
>It wasn't a genuine exchange though, since I was holding the royal flush from the beginning. Even an articulate guy like myself would not be able to defend the abomination of Smegmar.
Well, you tapped out rather than explain your reasoning for three sentences. I'm William Blake compared to you.
It's OK, go consume your slop goy.
>All those words just to say you're a retard
>Being a tasteless retard and blaming others for it
Kek
moron, I'm at least explaining my reasoning why I hate the new design, while you are astroturf markerting some literal who's youtube channel. If you can't defend these new designs, at least admit it and move on.
You're the only retard bringing up ecelebs in this thread. Retard.
So you basically hold the precise opposite sentiments to
, you probably can guess who I agree with more.
I think where we go separate ways is you appear to enjoy models that seem to explicitly tell you what they are. Their character and properties need to be heavily stated, lest you only see it as a boring ordinary carriage.
My mind sees these miniatures from a completely different point of view - I don't observe them as if they're meant to be composed to impress me. Instead, I'm supposed to view them, as they would behave and appear in their natural environment, and let my imagination instead imagine the story of the Coach. On an ordinary march, it probably would travel along the roads of Sylvania masquerading as an ordinary carriage, only revealing it's true undead magical nature if necessary. To me, this makes the old design appear in fact MORE menacing and intriguing than the Marvel superhero shit on the right.
Eh I can't see why someone would prefer the old one, to me the new one looks overdesigned.
NTA but sometimes less is more.
The one on the left is just a grim coach pulled by undead horses and fits well with the artstyle WHF had going at the time.
The one on the right is overdesigned and generic at the same time.
Left
>Only the practical details are present
>Because it's an important unit, the flare is restrained and tasteful
>Ornaments, curtains and horse helmets are grounded and in line with the theme of the army
>Most importantly the model is captured as it would be observed in the world is exists in
>It isn't striking a "pose" just because it's being modeled
>Scale and featured creatures in the model are identical to creatures you might see in the VC army roster, further enforcing the Black Coach's unity with that roster
>All of the above tricks the viewer into thinking this unit might actually exist in the world of warhammer
Right
>"Alright guys, we're gonna be featured in a model, give the camera man your best!"
>Of course there needs to be shit flying everywhere because flying accessories and appendages = importance
>Flying ghosts around unit gimmick for the nth time, already losing all of it's potency as every single unit has flying ghosts around it
>Pulled by horses, but not just by any horses, steroided skeleton ghost horses
>The carriage does not look practical at all, the center of mass is clearly way too high, there's no way this has ever been a real carriage that later became possessed
>On top of it, lets add some clouds because the composition isn't busy enough and we need to imply that the coach is, indeed, flying
>Even the base had to be filled with crap
Someone close their CAD-program and called it a good sculpt, lmao
>This hobby is just over.
Actually it's bigger than it ever has been.
>open the floodgates to chinks and poojeets
>hobby saved
We've seen this play out many many times. Why do you think it'll end any differently now?
nobody outside the west cares about warhammer
this is unironically goyslop with no international appeal outside of ytoid countries
>Goldstein demanded even skeletons to be rebranded
They're still Skeletons. They just have 'Deathrattle' slapped in front.
You might be thinking of the Ossiarch guys who are more than just Skeletons.
On one hand I am interested in the Chaos Dwarfs and their impressive looking tech trees and tower of Zharr mechanics and troops.
On the other, holy shit they actually did straight up take away the Dark Elves originally slave mechanic, in turn giving them a stupidly dumbed down version and gave it to the Chorfs. If I was someone who enjoyed playing Dark Elves I'd be pissed!
RTS 40k games are great. Fantasy just has Total War and I don't care for the Left4dead clone
Ironically enough Vermintide is the best representation of the WHFB world around. It's been said a lot, but TWW really is starting to feel like capeshit. I don't know why. I didn't get the vibe when I originally played the first one.
>most expensive DLC
>unit cap the DLC units
>force players to play Greenskin reskins
KWAB
Everyone seems impressed by the K'Daai Destroyer. But seeing as it is a giant sized units and can't seem to fly (I see no wings) isn't it just gonna fall prey to the inevitable ranged units who really can't miss something that big, like all giant units? Most notably Giants?
I really don't get why GW gave CA the rights after they killed fantasy, they should have tried to sell them AoS to build popularity with it. Awful business decision on their part.
As it was said 1000 times. GW views vidua as a potential competition to model sales. Tww was only allowed to happen, because they were feding the line out
>Chorfs only have single entity artillery
Kek
Cathay, Dwarfs and Empire are gonna dab on these manlet shitters
Queen Bess, Little Grom and the Skullcannon are pretty much useless and are multiplayer bait
See
Dumb retard
>1 entity artillery
>Still THE best arty in the game backed up by monsters, cav and magic
You mongs are not seeing the forest for the trees here.
Yes, the chorfs have single entity arillery, but it'll be STRTONG and have a fucking wizard casting lore of hashut and fire at anything that comes within it's area code.
No shit dumbass I was telling the retarded fag to view the grudge-bearing post
Despite having spell resistance, Dwarfs can get wrecked by enemy magic quite easily. Their slow speed in general means they have a hard time avoiding votexes and bombardments. And the Chorfs have a ton of magic on their side including Lore of Fire which will ruin any dwarfs day, no matter how resistant they are.
>can't field 19 Infernal Guard Fireglaives or 19 Dreadquake Mortars
Fuck Creative Assembly for forcing multiplayer in a singleplayer game
There's going to be a way to increase those caps.
Also it's going to be the very first mod someone is going to make for that faction.
Is it bad I wish Chorfs had some more demon units?
The K'daii are cool as fucking shit but I want more cool as fuck metal and fire demons to beat the shit out of Khorne with
Ehh lorewise Chorfs only really use daemons as engines. They bind them into their trains and cannons, they don't field them as troops
>Humanity in Wh40k survives because they have crazy population numbers, uncountable worlds, elite soldiers, extreme zeal and decent to above amazing tech
>Humanity in Wh survives because uh...
Their friendship with the protagonists of the setting, dwarfs and elves.
Faith, steel and gunpowder.
>Chaos is typically small-scale as most Chaos Warriors wander North to the Wastes to wait for the right time
>Skaven are so utterly indecisive that they constantly backstab themselves out of working together properly. It took their literal God showing up to whip them into proper shape.
>Tomb Kings don't give a fuck.
>Vamp Counts are an actual major threat and constantly have to be dealt with, but have glaring weaknesses that allow them to be kept at bay.
>Orcs are too busy fighting Dwarfs most of the time, and when they do show up it usually leads to a major mustering to head them off.
>Beastmen are only a threat to small villages and Kislevite nobility
in Wh survives because uh...
Faith, Steel and Gunpowder. The empire is the most technologically advanced society on the world. Dwarfs COULD beat them out, but they don't because it's forbidden, only Malakai Makaisson has the balls to actually put the full scope of Dwarf technology to use.
The Empire is also diplomatically active, maintaining good relations with almost all the major powers, somehow managing to stay on the good side of both Dwarfs AND Elves at the same time.
Also, the Empire has the favor of multiple gods. There's the obvious ones like Sigmar and Ulrich, but there's also Morr (AKA Usirian), who has a dedicated following within the empire, along with many other gods, Shallya, and several other minor dieties.
>Most technologically advanced society in the world
>Dwarfs, Chorfs and Lizardmen all absolutely mog them
>Lizardmen
>technologically advanced
Magic aside, they're literally stone age savages.
They literally have fucking spacecraft you absolute secondary.
Post-6th Ed flanderization doesn't count.
Okay then bro, Kroq-gar's pimp hand is tech, Revivification crystals are tech. Any sufficiently advanced technology appears as magic. That's literally the lizardmen's modus operandi, they got left all kinds of wild Old Ones tech that is so advanced it may as well be magic and is practically indistinguishable from it.
Half their magic is just technology.
I'll give you Chorfs but Dorfs gimp themselves on purpose, as a joke.
Even Skaven mog them if you think about it. They've harnessed warp lightning into projected energy weapons.
warp lighting cannons are just a warpstone attached to the end of a barrel
True, but Sk*ven tech is so notoriously unreliable it may as well not matter, they win their battles through sheer numbers generally because the weapons teams blow themselves up
Saying Skaven have harnessed Warp Lightning is ridiculous. Skaven have found ways to induce warp lightning and make it kill everything in the general vicinity, themselves included.
>The empire is the most technologically advanced society on the world
Nice technology, fucking mortal.
>*Pit of Shades your regiment*
Faith, Steel and Gunpowder, simple as
and magic and being on good terms with the dwarfs and other shit
"Human" in sci-fi and fantasy timelines aren't the same. Fantasy ones were crafted by Old Ones, 40k evolved from monkeys. For comparison here is what elite super soldier from 40k looks like next to a random fantasy barbarian dude
Weak bait. That's an old marine model rather than a primaris marine compared to a huge hero unit much larger than regular khorne infantry.
Holy shit, are all AoS fans this obnoxious and retarded?
>FB fan cries about muh dead setting
>Tries to shit on the setting doing far better than FB did
>Gets pushback for it
>Why are you so obnoxious?!?
Why are you in a WF thread then instead of playing with your Semenslurp Bonergarglers?
It's fuckinf Thursday morning, I'm shitposting at work dumbass.
They are all eceleb-obsessed zoomers, what do you think?
All I care about is that after a mountain of DLC Chaos Warriors still can't carry halberds with shields and use their great weapon animations for them.
How many DLC does CA need to make an actual animation set for a single unit?
There's no fixing WoC. The engine CA uses will never do them justice. They will always look and feel dumb.
Halberds are two handed weapons in Warhammer Fantasy Battles, you can't use both in combat at the same time
What are you talking about, of course you can, temple guards can too (and they in fact carry both halberds and shields ingame)
or tomb guards,
I feel nothing but deep hatred for Repanse trying to squat on my fucking desert
Chill the fuck out Settra
The game is so pretty and they try to draw so much focus on the coolness of the animations but I honestly have zero chance to focus on any of it because I am too busy being trash at the fucking campaign and I have to spend way too much time putting out fires in my battles to ever be able to concentrate on how cool my units look fighting
So seeing the autistic meltdown of the sperg defending AoS I went and checked it out.
Is itnsafe to say it's just WHF through a Marvel capeshit filter? That's the vibe I'm getting browsing the miniatures.
>AoS child is not mature enough to enjoy fantasy pastiche
Sad, really.
