They can be alright for since you will get one with an adjustable back rest and arm rests cheaper than an equivalent office chair.
      Their two main issues are:
      1. They usually have terrible straight back rests with bulky lumbar pillows to compensate
      2. They're covered in cheap fake leather that flakes after only half a year of use
If you put the care in finding a gaming chair with an ergonomically shaped back rest, you can have yourself a deal.

See at one point I thought of grabbing one of those Secret labs chairs. Seen a lot of people use those, surely they couldn't be that bad. But I keep hearing from random people on the internet that because they're gaming chairs, they're meant to break your back.
Whereas this chair is shilled left and right by everyone around these boards, but I've only seen one person use one. Louis Rossman. And at home when enjoying himself, he doesn't use that one. He sits on a fricking recliner.

          >Why do so many """people""" use a shilled cheap piece of shit instead of an expensive thing more targeted at the professional market with effectively zero effort or money put in to advertising to gamers

Gaming chairs are designed to look cool but they're effective car seats so they're uncomfortable because they're not built to be used for this purpose. They're built for safety

Office chairs are for working at an office for an extended period of time. Which is bad anyways, no chair can fix the problems you'll have by not getting the frick up and exercising.

I've had an Aeron for a decade and its great. Super adjustable, high quality materials so it doesn't break down over time like other chairs and great for comfort at a computer desk. But you're right that it's not a lounge chair. Its a chair designed for being comfortable while sitting in front of a monitor at a keyboard and mouse. If you want your chair to be a cushy lounge chair for sinking into there are better options.

I bought a Secretlab titan. It's okay, but it has annoying gimmicky bullshit like the adjustable lumbar support tread inside the chair. I don't consider it a significant upgrade over a gaming chair I bought off Amazon for $75.

            What’s your $75 Amazon chair?
More importantly, does it have enough ass support?
I bought a GT Racing chair for about that price and it was thin on the bottom, couldn’t sit comfortably for more than 2 hours. Got rid of that thing.

Look almost similar tot he one I was talking about but looks slightly more comfy on the back and the arm rests. Mine felt like it was for slightly shorter adults or for children. That’s what I get for using the internet to buy it.

                Anonymous

I got one of these rickety piles of shit as a replacement for that chair in the same year I got the titan. The thing falls apart if you shift around in the chair and the jointed arms come loose. I ended up selling it somehow.

                Anonymous

The fact that you don’t consider the Titan much of an upgrade over this is pretty concerning considering the price point.
I just want a chair that feels like heaven to sit in for hours that will last for years. I’ll pay out the ass for it one time if need be.

The fricking plastic rim at the bottom of the seat/plastic mesh cuts off circulation to your legs after a while. Also the mechanism for the side arms is ass, and after 6 months it became loose and then started to fall down. No tightening it down didnt help, the mechanism internally broke.

I always thought that basically, you could find equivalent chairs for much cheaper, but the cost difference is just based on durability. You're paying most of that just so you can have that chair for 20 years or something.

Basically. You can just go to an office supply store and sit in a bunch of cheap chairs to find one that's reasonably comfortable. But they're all cheap chinesium that are going to fall apart in a couple years. The expensive shit like HM is durable because companies don't mind the high upfront cost if it means buying fewer chairs over time.

If over 200lbs, a sliding rocking recliner. I bought a shitty cheap one at my job for <$200, but it will beat any gaming chair hands-down.

Just don't use a mouse/keyboard for gaming. It's fricking stupid anyway and HORRIBLE for your wrists. If you must fps, learn gyro flickstick.

Do you have a place to go test these out? There’s no way Office Depot has a sample of all of the “best” chairs because it seems like they cater to normie laptop class office drones or something.
I know that’s like every product online really, but it’s hard to buy one that costs at least in the upper hundreds, only to assemble it and then realize you don’t like it. Returning it is a b***h and a half, so I want to reduce all unnecessary trial and error. Kind of stressful.

Search for bulk office supply stores in your areas. Better yet ones specifically for office furniture. I found a place near me that sells used chairs and you can get herman millers and steel cases for $500. Way better use of your money than the cheapest Amazon chair which is already like half that and will be wrecked along with your spine in a year

I know what the retail store is.
I also know that it doesn’t have the same variety of chair that the internet has.
I know that if I want to pick one of the most popular chairs, there’s a chance I may have to gamble on the fact that it’s a complete piece of shit that people are only defending for the brand name or something, because the store doesn’t have it.

Not that piece of shit you posted unless you like developing hemmrrhoids due to the weak seat netting sending all the pressure to your tailbone/anus.
Also if you're a manlet make sure to get a chair that goes down to 15" at minimum

As a manlet I need to get my PC chairs from china as they seem to be the only ones who still make chairs that adjust that low so I can have my feet flat on the ground.

Where do you get desks that go that low, manletbro?

          Anonymous

hmm haven't had any problem with desks. Almost every PC chair was adjustable to 15" in the past. Desks stayed the same, it's just the chairs that seem to be around 18" minimum now.

I'm a dumb manlet and I have trouble with any chair I use
If I want to be sitting so that my desk is low enough for working, my legs will dangle and I'll barely touch the floor
If I want to comfortably put my feet on the floor the desk will be a little bit too high, there's no winning

      Anonymous

You can buy adjustable desks, and you can buy adjustable chairs. I've got a very long gas cylinder in mine, my feet barely touch the floor. Doesn't matter, because I have a frame under my desk I can rest my feet on.

The best 8 hour rated mesh chair that isn't a grand is the Union & Scale FlexFit Dexley task chair. Won't leave you a cripple. I use a Hermon Miller Aeron in my office and a SecretLabs Titan XL at home. Most important aspect of back health and sitting is does it put pressure on your tailbone/lower spine and can you sit fully upright with the base of your skull touching the chair the entire time you sit comfortably? Part of that is learning how to sit correctly but the other part is does your monitor sit high enough that your eyes are parallel with just barely below the center of the screen, does your chair get to the right height that your forearms are supported completely flat without having to raise your shoulders while every part of your forearm can comfortably rest without strain and of course can you set your feet flat on the ground or a footrest to keep your thighs parallel to the ground (if they angle up or down you can se iousky frick your tailbone or back).

The actual chair is only a small part of health and comfort. But it definitely helps since not all chairs fit all backs or lock upright in the position you need. That's why I like the Titan Evo since it can lock at 5 degree increments up to fully vertical and I can meet my posture requirements. The Aeron allows me to lean back further which is nice while meeting sam requirements but wouldn't work for gaming since I'd end up hunching forward which is a no-no. Good for office tasks and browsing tho.

It's cheap massfab furniture for college kids and yuppies outfitting their first apartment. It's not meant for longevity or durability.

If your ass is going to be in a chair for multiple hours day after day, you shouldn't skimp on it for the same reason you shouldn't skimp on a mattress. Follow the adage of 'always get good versions of things that are separating you from the floor.'

I've been buying £80 chairs for about 4 years now. They usually last about 2 years before they start to break down, though I am just over the reccomended weight limit.
The one I'm currently sat on has a missing leg from the rotating caster hub, which means I have to distribute my weight backward into the chair to keep from tipping forward.

I can't really be arsed to buy a new chair, what with having to dispose of this one.
I did think about using a wooden dining chair for a while but I'm sure that'd be painful, considering the length of time I'd be on it.

FYI all US bros - Staples regularly (and is right now) selling their version of this chair for $150. It is truly the greatest chair you'll own at that value
    >butt stays nice and cool all day
    >is really fricking wide, you don't feel constricted
    >headrest is slightly wonky but I think newer models has improved a lot
    >good ergonomics
    >nice adjustments, quality parts for price
owned one for ~4 years and it finally was time to replace it around there.

The best ergo and comfort chairs have existed for almost a hundred years, 'office' and 'gaming' chairs are a scam made up by furniture makers to sell cheap shitty chairs.
Meanwhile couches have existed since the middle ages and you can buy some heavy duty trolley wheels to mod them to make them portable.
