>Ganker recommends game

>Ganker recommends game
>play it
>it's awful
>"hey what's the appeal of game, am I missing something or is this just ass?"
>"hurr the soundtrack is great"

Do people here seriously play games just to listen to music, or is that just nostalgiagay cope?

    >person plays shit game
    >likes OST
    >starts listening to OST a lot
    >year later person thinks he actually liked the game too and starts defending it on the internet
    Many such cases. Sad!

See like I said person is tricked into thinking they actually like the game. Remember how Silent Hill PLAYS. Nobody likes playing Silent Hill, people just like thinking about playing Silent Hill

Anon, silent hill is an uncomfortable horror game. Just because a game isn't gratifying doesn't make it a bad game.

Yeah. Ganker told me pic-related was a masterpiece but it ended up being repetitive and pretentious garbage. I stopped playing after I reached the lame desert level.

The fact that the main character's ass is the most prominent aspect of the game's marketing should tell you enough to be honest

You got filtered by the desert, that's about as hilarious as that one time a pirate couldn't make it past the tutorial shooter.

What did you expect? It's even weirder to me how people who come to vidya forums (even as accessible as these) and expect people not to have a certain esoteric taste. Same with books and movies.

I expected a good RPG with mediocre combat. What I got was singleplayer MMO content and the most basic combat imaginable. Cookie clicker is genuinely more engaging on a second to second basis because there at least you have golden cookies to worry about

I´ve never played a single fighting game but Guilty Gear Xrd and Strive's OST is the best shit I have ever listened in my life

Listen to the whole series OST. Daisuke is a legendary composer. Even outright bad games like Isuka & Overture have insanely good music

I don't want to write a fricking essay trying to quantify why I think the gameplay is "good" when I can just say
    >the levels are fun
    >the grafx are pretty
    >I like the music

I personally got tricked into Kingdoms of Amalur and had to force myself to finish the game.

      Morrowind.
It's not even that my expectations were super high, it's honestly one of the worst games I ever played that I didn't sek out for being bad.

a casual playthrough of morrowind is pretty damn boring. You have to minmax if you want to experience what keeps people playing it 20 years later. Being able to boost your stats till you can leap across the ENTIRE WORLD in a single bound or kill the final boss with a single poke from your finger is where the game truly shines

I don't understand you people, why would I want to do any of that? It's not as though the world reacts in any way to this, if I wanted to shoot fireballs at some brain-dead npcs while being immune I can just use cheats or open gmod and fire a rocket launcher into a crowd. Same result only it doesn't require minmaximg though an extremely tedious and boring game to do so.
          also, more fundamentally
          >game is broken to shit
          >this is good somehow

I sometimes buy games solely because of their soundtrack sounding great.
I NEVER bought a game solely based on it's soundtrack and felt disappointed exception below
My top favorite games all have extremely well received soundtracks and, in fact, they were filled overall consistently great songs.
I never played a bad game with a good soundtrack.

Music is often crucial to a game and directly enhances everything that can be good about the gameplay.

The only game i ever bought solely because of the OST that didn't meet my expectations was Okami, but that's because it had a single song i found really good that is barely present in the game, and as such i consider it not relevant, as the OST was in fact not particulary great.
