>killed pokemania
>can't transfer mons from earlier gens
>removed day and night cycle
>first "save the world" bullshit story
>awful music
>awful coloring
>started gay friendly neighbor rivals
>linear story and handholding
>literal gay as a champioin
>shitty battle tower clones taped together and called a post-game instead of going back to johto
>piss easy
>started fursuit designs with blaziken and gardevoir
>80% of the region is repetitive water HM routes with tentacool/magikarp spam fuckfests
>horribly designed new mons
>every mon is either OP dogshit like kyogre or total shitmon SFMA
Uh WHORENN sistas........what's our response????
People meme on the "too much water" review, but it actually is a legitimate problem with the game - and probably the most glaring one at that. Why is the last third of the game just open empty space, why didn't the remake fix this, and why do both games get a pass for it?
I think it's just because "too much water" sounds like a ridiculous complaint out of context.
If they had said "too many bland water routes," then nobody could have argued with that or memed with it.
>sounds like
*is
>why do both games get a pass for it?
They didn't. Hoenn was a punching bag for years because of it.
Over the years shitposting moved away from Hoenn but if you were here 2012-2014, Hoennbabies were the biggest punching bags of the entire franchise, hated by Genwunners, Johtoddlers, and Sinnohfetuses equally.
In 2012-2014 I couldn't stop shitposting about how BW sucked
>shitposting
stating facts isn't shitposting
is this where I say "discord thread" ?
no because hoennchads aren't sensitive gays who need boogeymen to cope
but this is confirmed to be a thread from a gay who spams various genwars and Nikocado
and hoennchads don't care because hoennchads can defend their favorite gen without resorting to ad hominems, unlike unovabortions
didn't the nikocado guy post his asshole everywhere because he hated genwar threads?
actually wait wasn't that just a sharty raid?
i don't even know anymore
the best thing to do is just to ignore all of it and not play into the schizophrenia surrounding the whole affair
different raider, now we get Nikocado spam combined with genwar posts
>killed pokemania
that was gen ii, which also has the worst dex and worst competitive metagame of the classic gens
>that was gen ii
Confirmed zoomer. All of us that were alive between 1996 and 2002 remember that Pokemon was a hype train until RSE came out, which killed Pokemania dead. That's literally the reason Game Freak rushed to put out FRLG in a panic. Gen III killed Pokemania - also confirmed by decline in sales.
Actual brainlets. Pokemon was a trend, and trends don't last forever.
this guy literally preempted you
>also confirmed by decline in sales.
like how GSC literally declined in sales and failed to gain more players than the first games RBY?
>like how GSC literally declined in sales and failed to gain more players than the first games RBY?
That's like saying SMB3 killed off Mario just because it didn't outsell SMB despite the former being unanimously considered better
>SMB3
You mean Super Mario Bros. 2
SMB3 would be Gen III, obviously
>Gen 3 is as good as SMB3
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Good one bro
SMB3 outsold SMB2, which wasn't the case for Gen 3 from Gen 2
GSC is literally 2nd place after RBY in terms of sales. What are you talking about lmfao
yes, the games lost 8 million sales and failed to gain more sales than the games before it
use your brain retard
>Gen 2 - down 33% from Gen 1
>Gen 3 - down a whopping 50% from Gen 1
Gen 3 was the Pokemania killer. It makes sense for sales to dip slightly after the height of the fad, but 50% by Gen 3? Holy shit, Gen 3 fucking KILLED Pokemania dead.
Let me break it down for you retard.
First game: strong sales, decent games, Pokemania
Second game: sales plummet, worse games, kills Pokemania
Third game: sales plummet, victim of previous games' killing of consumer confidence, rebuilds post-pokemania death
>GSC worst games
Ahhh, there it is, your bias leaked out. Lmao
Here's what actually happened:
>RBY - Pokemania, even normies who don't really like Pokemon are involved, a massive 45mil sales
>GSC - Sheds the fad normies, retains everyone who is based, a slightly less massive 30mil sales, Pokemania is still going
>RSE - Actual fans of the games start to leave because of classic features like day/night cycle being removed and can't trade between Gens anymore, a disappointing 23mil sales, Pokemania is now dead
>Actual fans of the games start to leave because of classic features like day/night cycle being removed and can't trade between Gens anymore, a disappointing 23mil sales, Pokemania is now dead
I'm all for the anti-Gen 3 narrative, but the day and night cycle not being present is far less concerning to your average normalfag than the Kanto starters being unobtainable without cheating.
You'd never heard of any stories about people getting insulted for playing Pokemon during Gen 2's run unlike with Gen 3's era.
>gens 1 and 2 are bad
>gen 3 is good
why are Hoennfags like this?
pokémania was still going strong during gen 2. i would say it started to die sometime during summer 2002, since my cousin's pokemon card collection had stuff from the legendary collection reprint set but not anything from the expedition base set
ruby and sapphire aren't to blame for killing pokémania, but they were the final nail in the coffin
it depends on how you conceptualize pokemania then
no matter what, gen iii did not kill pokemania, but it did save the franchise from falling into obscurity
Gen 3 did not kill Pokemania
https://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2017/08/14/why-ruby-and-sapphire-were-the-most-challenging-pokemon-to-make.aspx
>The main problem with the game wasn't the technical side, but rather the general opinion surrounding the franchise in the early 2000s. "After Gold and Silver came out, it was a huge hit around the world, but shortly after everyone was saying, 'That’s it. The Pokémon fad is over! It’s dead!'," Masuda says. The games were meant to be the starting line for the next few Pokémon games. "It was a very stressful project, for sure," Masuda says. "When we were first developing it, I had the idea in mind that it would be Ruby and Sapphire, and then the next games, including the titles, would be Diamond and Pearl, and in between we would do the remakes, FireRed and LeafGreen, so we could create this structure where you could take the Pokémon from the Kanto region to the Diamond and Pearl games."
>Just as development began, however, trademark research revealed the names Ruby and Sapphire may not be usable, which would have hobbled plans for the next three games from the beginning. That coupled with the franchise perception made everything more stressful. "At the time, the atmosphere and general thinking was that the Pokémon fad was over and there was huge pressure to prove people wrong," Masuda says. Toy stores that used to be filled with Pokémon toys were clearing out their stock, and when visiting America, Masuda says he noticed that all the Pokémon merchandise, including the unofficial toys featured at mall kiosks, were beginning to disappear. "The next time I visited it was all Star Wars. Everyone was saying it was on a downtrend, the fad’s over and I really felt that pressure to make something amazing," Masuda says.
Pokemania died through natural fad decay after Gen 2, Gen 3 is what proved that Pokemon was more than a fad
>After Gold and Silver came out, it was a huge hit around the world
GSC and RBY confirmed hits, straight from Masuda's mouth. Hoenn killed Pokemania.
Based Masuda saved the franchise with the most soulful region to date after Tajiri's FOTM failure
I love Johto but I can tell you tons of normies bailed during gen 2. by the time the hoenn games came out I remember middle schoolers arguing the series was for tiny children and whatnot
First Unova now Hoenn what generation are they going to start a hate campaign against next.
anon they’ve been at this since the announcement of BDSP
it’s been Unova, Sinnoh, Johto, Hisui, and occasionally even Alola
>Alola
You can't start a hate campaign on what's widely believed to be the worst region. It's simply the common consensus
every region from Gen V onwards is known to be bad / not good, but Unova is the only one with an actual fanbase to have to refute such that reminding everyone how shit it is gets called by them a "hate campaign" (despite the fact it's completely organic and as old as the gen itself)
Galar is hated more than Alola
anyone who ranks Galar above the bottom is a moron whose opinion doesn’t matter
>started the anthro monsters/creatures designs with blaziken and gardevoir
Yeah and? Still Better than lazy cartoon Animals
To me, the biggest mistake of Gen 3 was the comp crap.
The DV system was already dumb as fuck for a game based on the appeal of making your own ragtag team into champion material, but to buckle down with this this stupid system of IV'S, EV's and Natures (two of which you had no way to change until recent generations) was beyond idiodic.
I'm aware you CAN usually ignore it, but once you know how this works it gets harder to ignore when you know these stupid things are making your pokemon less optimized, and therefore inherently worse.
The EV and Nature systems where completely necessary after the stallfest that was the consequence of Gen II / GSC's mechanics
Everything was too bulky and too weak, making progress a total nightmare. The adjustment of Gen III made offense stronger so that defense couldn't dominate as much.
>stallfest that was the consequence of Gen II / GSC's mechanics
Yup, because Game Freak definitely knew about Snorlax's dominance when they were designing RSE before GS even made it out of Japan. Natures are only present to incentivize wasting more of the player's time with RNG.
