Gen 5 was beginning of the end of Pokmon.

Gen 5 was beginning of the end of Pokémon. Gen 4 was the last good generation and Black and White started most of the problems that we see in modern Pokémon.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "started most of the problems that we see in modern Pokémon" instead of parroting the moronic shit you see on here?

not op and I personally like gen 5 as the last good gen, but I'd say the patronizing level of hand holding began with Black/White that's prevalent and obnoxious in current games with your rival or whoever giving you an exposition dump/long winded nothing burger of a conversation/etc every few minutes of story progression

I’m sad that gen 4 was the one that left the bad taste in my mouth for Pokémon enough to sit out gen 5 when it unveiled car keys and ice cream Pokémon.

Played Gen 5 later and it became my 2nd favorite after Gen 2 and Gen 3 Emerald always being objectively the best to me

The Rest can be put in the trash

oh that is a bummer. What about gen 4 disappointed you? I can see D/P faults now in retrospect but when they came out and I was 15 or so, I loved them and Platinum+HG/SS even more so. I bought White like a year after it came out after also thinking I was gonna sit it out, and I'm glad I went ahead and stuck around for that. Gen 6-8 are the ones I wish I had skipped completely instead of just sitting out Sun/Moon/US/UM

Masuda wanted to simplify the series because he noticed that kids were struggling in Sinnoh. This echoes into basically every Gen until PLA, which incidentally brings us back to Sinnoh to rebuild the series.

Mt. Coronet and its consequences have been a disaster to this franchise even though I liked it.

Was Sinnoh really the last region that wasn’t a 100% straight line? Because BW was probably that worst of that shit. Once you get to Nimbasa it’s just Gym -> Gym -> Gym -> Gym

The series had been getting more and more linear with each generation, BW was simply the culmination of it and not the start.

The new Region aren't really even straight lines, they just force you to follow a set path for most of the game. Like, Alola is 4 islands with all distinct geography, but the game constantly stops you for instructions.

Gen 5 was pretty good all things considered.
Gen 6 was terrible and Pokemon never recovered.

The most severe issues with modern Pokemon:
    >incomplete Pokedex
    >huge amounts of handholding (i.e. ORAS showing you exactly where Groudon's/Kyogre's cave is because they don't trust you to find them yourself)
    >horrendous designs
    >way too easy even by Pokemon standards with several crutch mechanics that make losing essentially impossible
routes are just straight tunnels with little to nothing off the main path
    >excessive unskippable story segments
    >no endgame
    >Black person NPCs
The only ones of these that BW are guilty of (to a smaller extent) are the Black person NPCs, the unskippable cutscenes and arguably having some shitty James Turner designs.
They were overall still great games.

BW is the best game ever released and I don't care what happened after it. Seethe.

Glad I grew up and quit playing pokemon after Gen 2. Can't believe there are "adults" who play this shit. Pathetic.

I agree 100%. Diamond and Pearl were the last games I beat entirely. I cant even remember if I made it to the elite four in black and white.

Gen 5 is the gen with the least Kanto pandering. At most having kanto pokemon parallels in a few of its dex
Gen 1-4 each had their own version of kanto
Gen 6-8 had constant Kanto references
GO was Kanto the game for a long time.
Let's GO is regressive Kanto Pandering.
And Kanto was shit, if you disagree then you are brainwashed by nostalgia

that would be gen 6. it has the worst batch of new pokemon of all gens where like 3/4 of the batch is composed of the same monster who has like 20 forms (see the gay butterfly or the shitty poodle), introduced megas which are shit, story is shit, characters are shit, and the jump to 3d has made assfreak lazy so they just reuse models and use shitty animations. this game is only remembered because of the homosexual frog, the gay fursona fox, and the shilled gardevoir prostitute that looks like a dude

Dragalge alone is worth more than the entire Gen 8 pokedex. Shame game freak apparently hates him because his stats are fricking hideous despite his design being perfection.

gen 5 wasnt the bezt, hell it wasnt even great, just ok at best, passanle enough
but the huge hap in quality between it and the next gen, it really was the last of the "good" pokemon games

Black and White was the best gen, though. It went downhill with X and Y

I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss dungeons and caves with puzzles to solve. HMs were useful for that, it feels like they're gone forever with HMs. Pokemon games were never difficult but the first gens gave more the impression of still going on an adventure where I still have to manage resources well to not backtrack and go back to the previous pokemon center too often.

Factually true. Anyone who crossed Skyarrow Bridge and didn't think "Oh no, they're graphichomosexuals now." is a moron. I just wish I could go back in time and tell myself my first thought was right so I could get out sooner.
