Nemona's autism gets on my nerves. It would be nice if she had anything more to her than just battle obsession.
I grew to like Penny. She's just someone trying to fix her old mistakes and pay amends, and slightly sour as a result. Felt nice setting her free.
Arven's a bro, the true deuteragonist. He mentioned briefly that he might take on the Gym Challenge and become a Champion too, I hope he does. Both he and Penny, it would be neat to have a champions' club at school.
Carmine's a cunt and the primary reason why things go south in the Teal Mask. She shouldn't have hid that we met Ogerpon from Kieran, or refused to tell him that Ogerpon's not evil. She's pointlessly antagonistic to her brother and it only made things worse. I'm not sure I can call even call her a friend, she's really just an acquaintance.
Kieran's an interesting character because now the malice fueling his rivalry is personal. He really should've come with us on the mask retrieval quest, but over the course of the DLC the guy's dreams are utterly shattered to pieces, and you're one of the people directly to blame. It's a huge contrast from Nemona, whose rivalry is superficial at best.

Do you have a source for that? I had the suHispanicion that they hired a new writer just based on how much better SVs story was, but it would be nice to have proof.

you can just look up the credits and find the writers for all the games. almost all the mainline games were Toshinobu Matsumiya, then Ryota Muranaka took over as the main scenario writer for SV. before then he was only in a minor writing role since USUM
