'simple' here seems to be a measure of complexity, amount of variables you consciously take into consideration while playing it. Racing games are simple, even if racing sims are calculating tyre temperature independently for couple hundred sections of the tyre, in the end all you have to do is take corners well based on the limit you feel unconsciously while driving rather than calculating it with great precision in your head. Sure, the deeper you go, the more you get into strategies, mind games, you analyze your opponent and his behavior under pressure, eventually you start planning your overtakes two laps ahead, but in the end you're still operating on a small amount of data compared to a grand strategy.
or maybe it's a troll, i have no idea what exactly is the purpose of this chart
What the frick did you just fricking say about Icycalm, you little b***h? I'll have you know that he's the only philosopher that has ever touched video games that actually understands philosophy in any meaningful way and can categorize every way Nietzsche or Karl Barks's theory has any merit in the real world (a lot, and none respecitvely), and he's been involved in 100s of MLM companies and made profit every single time by borderline legally stealing from eveyone else, he's the greatest capitalist and also communist that has ever lived. He's a turf war veteran with 30 known murders that were carried out with his bare fists. He will wipe you the frick out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fricking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to him over the Internet? Think again, fricker. As we speak I'm contacting his P2P forum using his secret network of autitists across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fricking dead, kid. He can be anywhere, anytime, and he can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with his bare hands. Not only is he extensively trained in unarmed combat, but he has access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and he will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fricking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn Black person. He will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fricking dead, kiddo.
No game that s called art is actually art, games can be art but they need to be judged on the merit of being video games and not the "message" which at best are comparable to the ramblings of a college student that thinks that they have it all figured out.

true
wtf is this pants on head chart?
how are fighting games the most popular genre? like its right up there with RPG, in what world are open world games LESS popular than fighting games
like how are sports games LESS popular than fighting games?
and like half of these aren't even genres just descriptions of mechanics
like how is "shooting game" and "first-person action" considered genres but not first person shooter? and how the frick is there "first person action" "third person action" and then "action-adventure" wtf is an action adventure? what makes it difference from 3rd or 1st person action?
why is there a random bell curve
what is this moronation, the more I look the more confused I am
how is CRPG that high, how are CRPGs appreciated by most, like no one fricking plays them thats why there are so few good ones
how is survival building low on popularity but high on quality? the entire genre is very popular but extremely low quality games
and first-person 4x isn't even a genre
how can first person 4x be a genre but not just 4x? how is that lumped in with turn based strategy, and how is that apparently just as popular as first person 4x? how does turn based strategy be less popular than rpg? when its pretty much a superset of it
im just done, its too stupid for me
>survival building >High quality >Not the most popular genre currently
Granted it's on its way out but rust and Minecraft alone mean this shit is going to be orders of magnitude more popular than most.
Granted this is a troll image with the other placements but that really needed to be said
this isn't how a bell curve works. people use bell curves to explain central tendencies.
just fricking make a list of what you like and what you don't like. It's not immediately clear that "popularity" can be distributed in terms of "quality"
"I've got bodied real fricking hard on a fighting games", the picture.
Am i supposed to understand what does the x, mean, and standard deviations are from?
>first person 4x
And what game is that
Atlas
>MMO
Yawn
>fighting games
>too easy
lmao

This chart doesn't make any sense, the placements all seem arbitrary. Why are you a homosexual, OP?

Complexity is not inherently good though.
>t. brainlet
You didn't even included rhythm games, shit that's going on since 1997. have a nice day homosexual
Rhythm games are even simpler than fighting games, they go on the absolute far left.
who
Every single thing about this chart is confusing, but the most is the conflation of complexity with quality.
>Too Complex == High Quality
???
This chart doesnt make any sense. If the vertical colored lines are supposed to be mapped to popularity then what the frick does the bell curve mean?
IQ
>no rhythm games
>Sports and Shooting, by far the most popular genres and making up the majority of sales by far
>Too simple for most people
lol
lmao
Sports games are very unpopular among gamers. Try making a sports game thread and find out.
whoever made this image genuinely, unironically has autism and cannot actually appreciate true art

Anyone that disagrees is a fricking gayot.

true
>first person 4x
What the frick?
lol this is so moronic
ok hotshot, disprove it
My math checks out
literally me
what are you talking about the proof is right there in the equation dumbass
>open world is a genre
i hate english
wtf is this pants on head chart?

They're not, it's a label for the spot on the bell curve.
>survival building
>High quality
>Not the most popular genre currently
Granted it's on its way out but rust and Minecraft alone mean this shit is going to be orders of magnitude more popular than most.
Granted this is a troll image with the other placements but that really needed to be said
what are actual 4x 1st person games?
>fighting games
>popular
>too simple for most people
this is the shittiest bait I've seen all say
Now fighting games are too easy?
this isn't how a bell curve works. people use bell curves to explain central tendencies.
just fricking make a list of what you like and what you don't like. It's not immediately clear that "popularity" can be distributed in terms of "quality"
>melee slasher not on the list
we're a real genre too guys 🙁
it's a moronic picture anyways
but anons here really don't understand how a bell curve works, huh
