Makes sense. Modding the game is much more fun than playing it.

Stopped by to post this and laugh at the replies. Zero desire to play this again.

With how they fricked it all up with the SE and AE modding is somehow an even bigger pain in the ass now. Who doesn't want half the mods working for one version but not the other.

fricking iPad kid piece of shit. the whole point of modding is to tailor the game experience to be specifically what you want it to be, not whatever fotm modpack your favorite top ten list youtuber tells you is a must play.

        Anonymous

yes, but after modding it 5 times on different version it gets annoying
you can use a collection as base and take a lot of less time on the setup than doing it all by hand

reminder that because of autists like this, all skyrim modding takes 200 years rather than the 2 mins it would take if they weren't such spergs about muh ownership of their stupid homosexualy ass mods

you can still do it free tho
difference is you have to click each download
so just pick a smaller pack of stuff you like, for example, a lore related one
then add the mods you personally like

I've never understood how this is possible, like are you so inept at mods that basic ones take half a day for you to get working?

100 hrs is a bit excessive but it can be a lengthy process. Get the game reinstalled, figure out what version it is. Go grab a lot of the essential dependencies like skse. Browse the net to start putting together a list of everything you want, their dependencies, and take notes of any load order or incompatibility things you find. Actually download all the mods (this part can take a really long time even with autodownloaders), get everything unpacked and installed (easier with a lot of the mod manager software but still time consuming). Do a bit of stability testing before actually starting.

The longest parts are just finding and downloading everything though. Need to actually pirate the game at this point though. The steam copy has pissed me off too much at this point with the bullshit autoupdates that break everything. For the longest time it wasnt that bad because you just go through the modding process once and dont touch the game folder ever again. You can go back and do your modded run every year or two. The last three times i did the process though some stupid creation club update broke fricking everything and im not going to go through the whole modding process again just for it to break halfway through my run from some random unexpected update i cant turn off.

Creations are officially over, that won't be a problem anymore
        >"The service entered beta on September 28, 2017 and officially launched on October 4, 2017. As of December 5th, 2023, Creation Club has been retired and the Verified Creator program is intended to be its replacement."
Creation Club was an official Bethesda thing where each Creation was given the go ahead by them, didn't count towards the mod limit and didn't use new assets because of whatever specifics for consoles made it so Bethesfa approved stuff had to use only Skyrim assets. Verified Creations are paid mods in everything but name moreso than the Creation Club already was. These Verified Creations do count towards mod limit, disable achievements like regular mods and rules aren't as strict which is why they get new voice acting.
TLDR the Creation Club is dead and that's why they shipped all released Creations with the Anniversary Edition upgrade, the Verified Store won't make Bethesda release moronic Steam updates every X months because they're hands-off with it in comparison

Sounds like a (You) issue. morons mod Skyrim to turn it into a porn game instead of just cranking it to porn on the internet. Chads mod it to turn it into a 500+ mods immersive roleplay odyssey gaming experience you'll remember for years

It's an unsalvageable arpg at its core. 1000 hours of modding won't change that. You could just play Elden Ring ir Dragon's Dogma and get a vastly superior arpg with 0 hours of modding.

I agree. It would honestly probably be easier to make a new game in Unreal Engine than it would be to make Skyrim into the game I'd like it to be.

Are you honestly saying skyrim plays better than either of those games?

I am saying Skyrim is still one of the few games out there with such an extensive mod support for a reason, a game with NPC schedule packages and every single cell being remembered exactly as is, with every single object in the world being pickable and having physics and its own space in your inventory as clutter or otherwise, where you can drop a quiver with three iron arrows in a hallway come back 200 hours later and it'll still be there. It's a game where now officially via the Survival Creation you must take care of your needs, to plan your journeys ahead and how much loot you can carry, food, drink, sleep, what stories you come up with for your character and your build and your followers, what part of the TES universe lore you will next care about, what enchantment and unique name you're gonna give your next weapon to turn it into your special companion, where you can start your playthrough around Whiterun or maybe go out of your way to spend 25 hours in Riften or Markarth solely or play a skooma addict Argonian vampire on Morthal or a Breton archeologist obsessed with the Dwemer and Conjuration magic. It's a game where you can create an entire second life and hero's journey for a character you sculpt yourself starting in character creator and developed over dozens of hours from playstyle to world reaction to friendships and personal gear in roleplay. It's a game where the player freedom and mind games regarding your character and your story goes as deep as you want it to, and your fricking reply is "but Elden Ring lmfao". The game with the Oblivion-tier catacombs with the stone gargoyles, centered *solely* around combatcombatcombat and a set of minimalist NPCs and their side quests of sitting still until you reload the area then they die at the end that were already a trope by Dark Souls 2. You somehow read my previous post and took "yeah but muh dragons aren't Midir doe?!?!" from it.

You don't need 100 hours of modding. Mysticism, Ordinator, SMIM, SkyUI, Crafting Overhaul, Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul, and Legacy of the Dragonborn. Plus patches for the above for Ordinator. Boom, done. Graphical overhauls are for coomers.

you only need the mod that fixes mana regeneration and spell scaling, I forgot what they're called but they make it so that spells aren't weaker than an 80 year old's cumshots.

Is there an ENB that looks good everywhere? I'm tired of finding one that's pretty in the clear day but as soon as I go to a snowy area, everything is just brown instead of whiting out.
I might replay soon and at this point, I'll probably just install SkyUI and call it a day. Maybe mess with reshade settings at best.
