      Anonymous

Having played Octopath, I'm pretty sure you fell apart, not the game.
Octopath is a systems focused game and the secret final boss is the ultimate test of your mastery of team building and combat strategy, making the end of the game the actual best part of the game.

Octopath and Bravely are both games ive had numerous people tell me they dropped cause the bravely devs make games that get less enjoyable the longer you play

          Anonymous

Bravely 2 really does get worse. There's a fundamental problem with the Brave/Default system that causes extra nothing turns in combat which Octopath's BP system avoids by not attaching generation to the defend command, and the boss design is very annoying due to the hard on for very specific counter attacks that you couldn't know about being getting punished by them.
Don't know about the other two Bravely games because I didn't play them, so I can't pass judgement on the whole series, but Octopath is definitely better than BD2

Getting boost points each turn, except when they're used is definitely nice.

I also like how there isn't a freelancer class, that you can learn skills in any order, and that it takes less effort to master classes.

I can confirm Bravely 2 becomes boring, but it’s about the story. At first you think the lore will make sense and will be great, then you understand they rushed the game and put a final boss coming from nowhere. Main characters have nothing special at all (despite good voice actors), some characters you heard of at the beginning of the game become forgotten and they are telling you they are dead despite main characters were acting like they wasn’t before that moment. Also I don’t even understand why that evil feary acted like that, nothing is really explained...

Honestly, I'm a madman who's played through this three times. First on another friend's switch, then two more times on my own to get enough spirits to complete the collection (minus DLC fighter spirits I didn't buy). It's actually one of my favorite single player Smash modes, but it does drag on a bit too much at the end. Even playing as Master Hand for a single fi GR ht isn't really enough to save the slog of the second half.

Breath of Fire 4, I was literally fed up by the game near reaching the end, the final zone gave you enemies far more tankier and dangerous and that of course give you greater XP than anything else in the game, but I have skipped most of those random battles to reach Fou Lu faster, and then I wasn’t able to defeat him. This bored me and I didn’t finish it.

I have bought Final Fantasy 12 four separate times and I have never beaten it, but always got close.
First time the disk was too scratched up, so I got to what I think is the final area with the chest pieces looking dudes who shoot flame out their horns or whatever.
Second was some cutscene where they show off the beach with pirates and all that.
Third was the cutscene showing the ship in the finale of the game.
Fourth wasn't even a problem with the game, I just stopped playing. I got to that floating castle puzzle where you had to enter portals to go from place to place and find your way out. I got to the beginning, put the game down for the night, then never played it again.

I have never seen the finale, any cutscene after you first arrive, no clue what happens to anybody in the game after that point and though I could easily look it up. A voice in the back of my head tells me not to, because I might actually get around to beating it. Yet I know I won't.

I'm on the mountain chapter near the starting area after THAT cutscene sequence and really lacking motivation to finish the game. I like it a lot but a lot of it feels weaker than its predecessors. The main antagonists are not compelling at all, the world design lacks a cool gimmick like the other Xenoblades, and the game feels like it blew its load with THAT cutscene sequence and now it's just padding time until the final dungeon which I'm sure will be hype but I can't be fricked with the game waffling around until then. I was thinking Nia and Melia might show up which would be exciting but I frankly just don't have the energy right now to grind out the game for some sort of thread to tie the game back to the others

SMT Digital Devil Saga 2. Fun game but the thing I hated about it is having to continually re-arrange your skill set. Your characters can all learn any number of skills but only eight can be equipped at a time, and they can be swapped out at any time outside of battle.

The problem is the skills you want equipped for bosses are completely different from the ones you want equipped when you're just walking around the dungeons dealing with the random encounters. Buffs are really important for bosses, but random battles don't last long enough for them to be worth equipping (there's actually a mechanic where you only get the maximum amount of money from a battle if you finish it in one turn, that's how fast the devs want you to clear random battles), on the other hand status effects largely don't work on bosses but some enemies are weak to them so you might want them for regular battles. Most bosses are single enemies so you don't want all-target spells for them but do for normal enemies, they each have different weaknesses so you want to change your spells based on that as well etc.

It's not so bad for most of the game but by the end you have five characters that each have something like 60+ skills and I could just not be fricked to rearrange my entire party's skillset before and after every boss battle, I kept losing track of which skills I had equipped before and which tabs they were in and there are a LOT of bosses in the final dungeon which exacerbated the issue. Might be a pretty reason to drop a game and idk, I might finish it at some point even though I've forgotten half the plot but whenever I think about doing it, the thought of all the tedious skill-swapping just turns me off the idea.

I quit Underrail because of the Expeditions DLC, simply because I went exploring on my own. Apparently my faction didn't like that and I didn't get any sort of message they would turn hostile because of a bug. So after roughly 15+ hours of exploring, I return to them and the homosexuals shoot me on sight. Could not join any of the pirate factions because I already massacred them, and there's no way to complete it on my own. The DLC was just uncompletable now. This was pretty much the final straw for me with Styg's esoteric quest design.

I was already pissed off before because I cleared the Utility Tower and got rewarded frickall because he made it so that only certain game seeds get anything out of it. Then a friend that was playing the game at the same time as me told me that the suspicious dude that I said no to 6 hours into the game locked me out of the entire Oculus questline because I didn't want to make an uninformed decision about bombing a major faction when I was still learning the game.

If you could suffer through Persona 4 you sure as frick can beat Persona 5/R anon. Also Nocturne is a short game that only requires some grind in the final dungeon whichever you wish to make it.

Weird that you had a few SMT and Persona 5 on your list. It's fair to assume you molested the rest of Atlus's catalog at that point, especially since you have a pre-Nocturne entry on there.

I’ve been at the final boss of yakuza 7 for the last 2 years. I can’t beat him unless I change some of my classes and regrind, any one know any easy ways to frick him up?

Cyberpunk 2022. I did the suicide mission ending and I just never got around to doing the others. I think it's because all the endings are bittersweet or grim so the idea of doing it 4 more times is exhausting to me.

Hollow Knight, but I'm not that torn up about it. The only part about the game I really liked was the exploration and a couple very specific fights.
Got all the dreamers, got the Void Heart, did White Palace (one of my favorite parts, beat the frickers at the end with 1 HP, exhilarating!) and I think I only missed the Bee area because I just never knew to look for it. Made it back to Black Egg, tried the Hollow Knight/Radiance fight once, died, and simple moved on. The combat just doesn't meld with me outside of the Mantis Queens, Hornet(s), and Grimm. It isn't fun. Radiance wasn't an exception, so I am content with not fighting it.

Not a game, but I could no longer care to finish reading Highrashi by the final chapter because I didn't care about Takano.

Elden Ring so far. I liked it a lot, but goddamn it's a long game and I'm not a fan of the whole getting from point a to point b in open worlds. I'll finish it eventually, probably.

I couldn't decide which camp to pick in FNV. I spent 100 hours doing any sidequest that didn't put me in any specific camp and quit.

      How?
PickLegion if you want a short campaign filled with 0 content and Roman larpers by devs who are too politically stunted to not see them as 'da evil doods'.
Pick the NCR if you love California and cuckold bureaucracy.
Pick House if you believe in the words of a classy pre-war mummy with a robot army whose main income is the tributes from the local casinos he has under his thumb.
Pick Yes Man if you're moronic and fricked up everyone else, or lack total agency and honestly believe you have what it takes to run a chaotic as frick 'free' state in the fricking desert after the end of modern civilization.

I got about 120 hours on MGS 5 but I've never finished it, I always burn out on all the optional stuff and trying to get S ranks on most missions.

Witcher 3. I think I stopped playing about 3 missions from the end. Same thing happened with Mass Effect 3 but I forced myself to watch the shit ending. For me it's a sign that it was a good ride and I was invested in the story

13 sentinels. I wanted the rts segments to be hard so I insisted on using only 4 units and only one upgrade or weapon purchase per level. It was fine until the last few levels but I was too stubborn to ditch the limitations I set for myself and most of the story was wrapping up. Its been a year since Ive last touched the game.

Most recently Cyberpunk and Bravely Default II, something about BD clunky cutscenes made me drop it 30+ hours later

    Nioh 2
    >Killed the Thunderthigh Ayakashi from the final DLC
    >Hit with the realization that the game was about to end
    Bloodborne
    >Found out there were 2 bosses left, Mergo's Wet Nurse and Orphan of Kos
    >Surprised that the game was so short
I ended up putting both games in my backlog, reluctance to finish them because I don't want the experience to end yet.

the Thunderthigh Ayakashi from the final DLC
      >>Hit with the realization that the game was about to end
bro what, go do depths. Nioh isn't a game that ends at the story.
