The better parts are just higher stat versions of the lower parts, it's the structural parts that add flavor and design to a ship mostly. You also had a plethora of options to make money, quests to do, cities to explore, ways to play and you did boring grind shit. I think that says more about you than the game.

            Want a smuggling trick?
Build outpost on a planet where you'll be unloading your contraband
You can land on your outpost before you get scanned
You drop your hot cargo in the outpost get yo orbit again and get scanned
Then when you land again and pick your contraban back up you dont get scanned a second time when getting back to orbit and you can safely land in settlement with no risk of getting caught

        question.
does the ship reflect the layout inside too?

        Yes
Interior is a direct result of parts (habs particularly) used and their configuration
What I want to know is what determines door/bulkhead layout
It seems fucking random when uou have bunch of habs glued in a block

          Anonymous

          >It seems fucking random when uou have bunch of habs glued in a block

It IS pretty random if you leave it up to the game.
There is a way to exert some control.
So in ship builder, instead of dragging a hab to place it, hover over the connection point you want a door, and hit attach, then scroll to the hab you want there. If you see the 2x1 flip that means the doorway can only be on that part of the hab, it will never generate a doorway on the other. So for example, the captains quarters and the armory will often not connect, even side by side because the captains quarters door wants to be at the front, and the armory door wants to be at the back. I THINK you can force that connection if there are NO other connections to either of those sections, but I haven't tried it.

I isolated a 2 story ship this way. The whole bottom section was only connected at one point to the top. But this does mean that you can't have a hallway with evenly spaced doors on either side without some careful planning.

That's not the best way to make money lol, unless you specifically take all the merchant perks allowing you to sell loot for better prices

Outposts are money printers if you spend the time (and perks) to set them up.
Build excavation outposts to mine raw materials, send them to another one that churns out whatever expensive crafting components you have the resources for. As you get more advanced you can use those components to build pricier components instead. It's like a really dumbed down Satisfactory.
You can even raise alien livestock to slaughter for resources or build greenhouses.
The hard part is finding a system that has everything you need.

It's all just for making money though. There's no point to it otherwise. You don't need to do this to get crafting components for actual crafting. They give you so many of them I started just ignoring them. Plus guns and stuff's value eventually outstrips vendor's ability to pay you. Most vendors carry 5000 credits which resets every day. But I routinely had guns worth 13000 or more with only one point in commerce.
So money is easy to come by, choom

    >Have a whole intricate shipbuilding system
    >Ships have stats like how much cargo they can hold and how fast they can go
    >These stats are literally fake, and affect nothing. Your ship doesn't "hold" anything. It can act as a storage UI for junk you're picking up from killing bandits, but it doesn't actually ever hold any cargo. At no point does your cargo hold actually have any cargo items in it.
    >There are """""missions""""" that have a text pop up saying "You're hauling contraband!" or something but it's literally just fetch quest nonsense, nothing ever is put on or taken off your ship, it's just text.

It's fucking hilarious that the answer to "What do you actually do with your ship once you've designed it?" is "You pretend that you're doing ship stuff." because none of it actually exists in the game.

But if you ever decide to stop pretending, the only possible thing you can say about Starfield is that it is a fake game that has less than 1/100th of the effort put into it that the budget, manpower, and hardware requirements would merit.

For anyone that is struggling with ship combat and gets destroyed by enemy ships, there is something the game doesn't tell you

yes you are, just like engines if the power consumption is over what your reactor can theoretically supply then the game will not allow you to have it.

        Anonymous

Yes but there isn't a hard and arbitrary limit of only two cannons per weapon type for instance
If your reactor allows it then you can slap 4 laser cannons on your ship

          Anonymous

There is a hard limit of 12 power per weapon group, it's not unlimited.
As a bonus the only thing weapon power gives is recharge so you can assign one power to a 12 power group and still do the same damage until you run out of ammo which is more than enough to burst down ships and end the combat.

            Anonymous

I never said it was unlimited, I’m just saying the game somehow makes you think you can’t slap more than two cannons of a same weapon type at first glance

NTA but it kind of does when you go into ship builder and try and add a new weapon for the first time and it tells you there's only 3 weapons allowed, at a glance it makes it seem like 3 weapons max rather than just 3 weapon groups with unlimited hardpoints.

      1.Nice Old Republic designs.
2.You absolutely are limited by powerpoints.
Putting 6 particle guns that you can fully power is superior to putting 4 lasers and 4 missiles you cannot fully power.
Of course, when you reach the end-game it's probably going to be fairly normal to have at least 12 weapon slots on your ship.

It's not like that anon, every main part of you ship have energy budget and you have 3 slots for weapons, you get 3 slots because each slot can only support 12 energy, this mean a laser that take 3 energy will reload at faster rate when you have 1 of them with 3 energy than 2 of them with 3 energy.
The trick is to test which weapons reload after every shot and which aren't so you can have 1 slot with rapid fire weapon at max energy and 2 slots with 1 energy on 4 weapons that hold ammo for burst.
This is why for the longest time I used 2 engines instead 4, I simply used 4 energy on them so it was actually detrimental to me to slot 2 more because these engines have weight and provide zero extra performance.
This is also why the Vanguard shield is an early game trap unless used correctly, yes you will get a fuck off huge shield but you also need 12 energy to maintain it and most early reactors give like 20 energy, so you're better off getting normal smaller shield that have better regen because both capacity and regen scale with provided energy so unless you put most of your energy into shield you're getting shittier performance, naturally you absolutely can have 3 maxed weapon slots with weapons that hold ammo at 1 energy and burst the bros right away then hope you killed everyone before you run out of ammo.

        Anonymous

This is actually why I think B class in general is a trap except in ultra late game.
Most B class reactors prior to level 45+ have less power output than the best A class reactors. I think the best one I could find was 24 when there was a 26-27 one in A class.
So you take a max speed hit, a major weight increase between the reactor, drive and engines to lift them for little gain.
It's better for most of the game to build a small crafting outpost and dump your crap there and keep a relatively small A class ship than it is to build a B class. You can still be pretty big in A class anyway. Habs aren't all that heavy, it's cargo space and your other major components that eat up your mass and make you slow.
C Class is fine once you have the engines unlocked to make that worth it since you can get 30+ output reactors around that time as well.

And besides all that, the best strategy is to nuke a bros shields then use a suppressor to make them dead in the water. Then board them, take their ship and sell it for cash.

        New Homestead on Titan, Sol.

All the manufacturers special yards have a big bridge, except Taiyo.
Deimos's is similar but flatter and can be mounted vertically (I think).
Hopetech's is kinda lame, it's more of a hauler cabin.

Yeah it's basically 2 stairs that go sideways, on the bottom and a walkway at the top. The entrances are both in the center. I'm this guy

Yeah the system that arranges internal layouts is flat retarded.
You can sort of guide it by only attaching habs together directly.
Like instead of dragging a hab from one location to another. Delete it and hover over the place you want it to connect to and use the "attach" command (G). This usually works for me but you have to be nice with it. If a hab moves when you do this, like a 1x2 flipping when you swap between armory and workshop, it means the door can only be in one place, like a door can only generate at the "front" of a captain's quarters.

I manage to make it so I had a ship that you entered at the bottom, passed through the docker (Hopetech bay with a back entrance not a ladder) and up to the cargo hold, which was entirely disconnected from my upper floor except through the big 2 story Nova bridge, effectively giving me an isolated second story.

and that's exactly what the idea was. The only ladder in the ship was the one from cargo hold to docker and bay. If you just let the system arrange the interior by default it'll ignore your wishes and do what it wants though

      W I D E

I prefer longer designs personally so the 40' limit is shitty.
You have enough habs it's probably not a big deal but fair warning the Nova workshop doesn't have a research station. Deimos and Stroud ones do. Stroud interiors match Nova's slightly better of the two.
Also another warning. Every edit to your ship dumps the inventories and clutter back into cargo. DO NOT place anything on ship mannequins. They can delete stuff. I didn't have the same problem with weapon racks and cases but all my unique suits got deleted. I wouldn't risk putting anything in any ship inventory except cargo.

        >dumps everything into cargo
        Holy shit this is annoying.
I had constantly mounting cargo weight on my ship. I just sort of assumed it was because I have hoarder syndrome and grab every resource and crafting components I see. But nope. It was the junk clutter. I just continuously edited and upgraded my core ship. Even swapping whole interiors a few times. I had 2000lbs of miscellaneous junk sitting in cargo. Like 150 notebooks. 100 mugs. 500lbs of just dumbells. Because if the junk gets dumped to cargo and then you swap habs a new set of junk gets generated then dumped to cargo again.

Every "hab" section is explorable. Most of the core of these anon's ships are habs, they sort of build out your basic sillhouette a lot of the time.

So you can build living quarters, workshops, armories, captain's quarters, mess halls, science sections, infirmaries, computer rooms cargo halls and a few more that are explorable and walkable. These are fixed dimension sections, most are 1x2, but there are bigger ones available.

Half the fun for me was building something I myself might like to live in for a comfy ship with all the things I needed.

        [...]
The Trade Authority in the Well of New Atlantis (take the elevator in the alley beside Jemison Mercantile) has something like 10000 credits. Still not enough for really late game weapons honestly.

Bro I had all the ship skills before level 20.
It doesn't even unlock the best parts until level 60 which is the real bummer.
But you can make a nice ship pretty early. Do the Crimson Fleet quest and use the 300,000 credits it gives you to make whatever you want. I built 6 different ships in my playthrough and just did basic Freestar missions for 90% of the credits

Protip there are 5 manufacturer hubs, one for each ship brand. They each sell some specific parts. Bigger habs are the major thing, but also larger cockpits, some specialized landing gear and a few other minor things.
Stroud-Eckland is in a station. Stroud sends you there at one point.
Taiyo is in Neon. It's in the corporate tower.
Deimos has a station orbiting Deimos. They also have more weapons than others.
Nova Galactic is in New Homestead on Titan in Sol.
Hopetech is in Hopetown. You get sent there during the Freestar Ranger questline.

If you build the big landing pad at an outpost you get a console that sells every basic ship part from every brand. You still have to go to them for their special parts.
Best practice is to buy or steal a ship. Bring it to a major brand's hub, build the core of the ship there, habs, cockpit and enough to get it off the ground then bring it to an outpost with the big pad to put all the cosmetics on, since you have all of them.

There is a reason so many anons build flat ships. Nobody wants to deal with ladders and to my knowledge player ships don't get the luxurious staircases and elevators we see on capital ships in the game.

A basic jumpack let's you skip the ladder. I never use them.
But you're right you can't add stairs and I tend to build pretty flat because of that.
I built a ship that was trying to look like a Gundam Musai class. It didn't end up working with my limited components but the tiered design made it hell to actually use and I gave up.

Technically Nova's big bridge is 2 habs tall. But the lower part isn't used except as a possible entrance.

How does the Nova bridge handle transfer between levels? If it has a staircase or ramps it might be a good way to avoid ladders on taller designs.

Having to press E to climb ladders and be stuck in an animation is outdated design. They should just let you run against it, and it will move you vertically

you never ever have to walk around your ship unless you're one of the overweight retards. you can teleport from your seat to outside when you land on new planets, you can directly board stations without walking all the way to dock, etc. you will never even see the interior of your new ship unless you specifically go out of your way to look at it.

Every manufacturer has a 'style' for their modules both interior and exterior. The connection between modules are random though so if are autistic about ship interior you will hate the doors and ladders in random places you can't control.

I wonder if a macross missile massacre is a viable concept for a ship?

It is, as long as there are enough missiles (the main problem is enemy shields may begin to regen if your first volley isn't devastating enough.
Just equip at least 2 different types of missile so you can assign then to 2 different groups.

Look at the different hab sections. Workshops all have an industrial, suit and weapon bench. Stroud and Deimos workshops include a research bench there too, the others don't. Infirmary has a pharma bench and research bench. Science sections all have research benches and I think some also have pharma ones too, difference in aesthetics. Certain brands have mess halls of various sizes, those should have kitchens and some of the all in ones or living quarters do too, but not all.

Some gay on Reddit and a few YouTube videos have them.
      I'm general though:
      >Stroud and Deimos interiors are nearly identical. Deimos has a dark floor but otherwise they're basically the same. Very clean modern look. Deimos basic cockpit feels like a fighter. Stroud's is more like sci-fi cockpit. Their Bridges are identical. Stroud also has a top mounted hauler cabin that I hate because it puts a girder right in your line of sight.
      >Hopetech and Taiyo are similar. More of a lived in Trucker look. Taiyo cockpits on the other hand are very clean whereas Hopetech's are more like fishing boat cabins.
      >Nova is "nasapunk" very white with a sort of sciencey look to them but without the modern look of Stroud. Think of a newer international space station interior. Their basic cockpit you've seen on the Frontier. Their Bridge is huge and 2 storied but very open.

God I hate the Kon Tiki. Who thought it was a good idea to put a big bar right in your field of view?

As for the rest of the habs, the only important distinction, besides aesthetics, is that Stroud and Deimos workshops also include a research desk. The others don't. If you want a research desk in those hab types you have to have a science or infirmary hab. You can just mix and match if you're short on space.

Lore wise each manufacturers makes ships for specific purposes, which I assume Bethesda uses as an excuse why some cockpits are better than others. Stroud-Eklund makes industrial machines like salvagers or movers etc. Which is why their larger cockpits are like wide viewing platforms, so they're not really built for being effective fighting cockpits.

I opted to pay for their grav drive since I'm swimming in creds anyway and they blasted off into space, honestly I wish I could help them overthrow the planet instead. The way they called it 'indentured servitude' rubbed me wrong.

It's the same principle as https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16blfdf/i_made_a_stupid_dumb_starship_build_and_its/ - AI only targets center mass.

It is because AI target center mass
If you build something without center, it literally cannot get hit

        Anonymous

AI aims at centre of mass of your creation, not at the ship parts themselves. So if that centre of mass is empty space, nothing is going to hit you.
Here we see someone who has offset their ships centre of mass by having a stack of structure components vertically and horizontally, thus moving it outside the main body of the ship

          Anonymous

This also basically confirms that system targeting and damage have nothing at all to do with what parts of the ship are being hit.

I don't like that all modules are clearly modules, and not integral parts of the ship - it makes ships feel like one of them cargo container homes. I also don't like lack of cockpit/bridge options, lack of hallways of any kind, lack of angles and lack of diagonal rooms.

      Anonymous

I do wonder just what parts are locked behind level (definitely some large cockpits I think). and apparently I unlocked some UC specific ship parts when I joined em, does that apply to any other faction.

        Anonymous

Only locked parts are modules which depends on a level of this or that skill (reactors, weapons, engines, grav drivers). You have access to all habs and structural modules from the start (selection depends on the vendor) and if you don't want to jump through 5 systems to get modules from all of the companies you can build a landing pad on your outpost - while it will still lack wide habs or big cockpit you will have all basic modules.

        Anonymous

The way parts work is as follows:
Some parts are only available at brand specific vendors. This includes the big cockpits/bridges and 2x2, 2x3, 3x3 hab sections. I believe these are mostly available from the start.
Others, like upgraded reactors, drives and weapons become available as you level. The best ones I've heard unlock at level 60, but I had C Class reactors with 37 power at level 46.

You can see everything available at your level that a vendor has. But the stuff you're perk locked from is greyed out. So you can always tell if something is unavailable because of your perk. Stuff that is level locked isn't visible until you reach that level.

Only locked parts are modules which depends on a level of this or that skill (reactors, weapons, engines, grav drivers). You have access to all habs and structural modules from the start (selection depends on the vendor) and if you don't want to jump through 5 systems to get modules from all of the companies you can build a landing pad on your outpost - while it will still lack wide habs or big cockpit you will have all basic modules.

          thanks that clears it up

        >steal a whole ass ship
        >registration fee makes it only a tiny profit to sell ships for some reason
It's to keep the economy from imploding the moment you steal a ship. They're routinely worth 20,000 plus credits. If you could steal ships and sell them for that the economy would be even more broken than it is. Hell I'm convinced the piddly 5000 most vendors carry is to keep you from swimming in credits too. I did the Crimson Fleet quest and got 300,000 at the end and immediately kitted out the best ship I could buy at the time and still had 60,000 left.

          Anonymous

yeah, the funny thing is, the Crimson fleet as a whole is the best way to make lots of money.
since not only do you get a fuckton of Dosh at the end of their questline, but the Piracy missions from their mission boards are the best way to get a lot of shit to sell quickly.
and combine that with the fact the Key has like 6 shopkeepers all right next to each other and two of them regularly have like 9000+ credits for you to sell, means you can easily make a piss large amount of money for use in getting your ship kitted out

I'm not sure what the actual complaint is here? You need to be high level for a high level ship. At high levels, any common gun picked up off a trash mob sells for 10k. A single outpost clear will net you 200,000 credits. It's working as intended, and as it should.

Ships need landing gear. The taller your ship compared to its footprint means it's harder to put gear on the bottom.
It's also a pain in the ass to go up. Ladders are slow and you can only go up one floor at a time boosting, maybe two with a power pack.
You also need a continuous path of habs to any other habs. So you have to build it out of 1x1 habs or make it look goofy.
Very little of the parts are made for verticality. Most of the "flair" pieces are designed with horizontal in mind.

I spent 2 hours building a big beefy spaceship thinking there'd be some advantage to it, but it was complete garbage. I ended up buying this one for most of my money before I realized that this was skill locked. I compared it to my compact, smaller ship. Is it really worth the grind for these improvements?
    >need to put 12 skill points into Social to unlock Ship Command and then 3 more for each level to utilize the crew space
    >need to destroy or board 5 ships and then 25 ships with a full crew to get it to level 3
    level it up
    >need to put 12 skill points into Tech to get Starship design and then 4 more for each level to edit it and utilize any spaceship part no matter the quality (all the levels are unlocked by going in and out of ship builder just adding random garbage to your ship so not really a grind)
    >need to put 4 skill points into Piloting to actually use it at all
    >need to destroy 45 ships, which is only time consuming without the simulator because you don't run into enemy ships that often doing regular things
At minimum, you'd have to get to level 31 to utilize a better ship and the upgrades do not feel at all worth it. Plus you could easily just upgrade the skills in tech tree themselves if you don't like ship building. And focusing on ships takes points from weapon/suit modding or outposts or anything like that. A lot of this whole upgrading thing feels like nothing more than worthless timesink, but I just want the freedom to add whatever to my ship.

      Anonymous

      >A lot of this whole upgrading thing feels like nothing more than worthless timesink
It kind of is unless you're going to go gunning for the legendary ships and even those can probably be nuked by just cramming as many weapons as you can power on a ship and using targetting. Crew spaces serve no worthwhile purpose and cargo is next to useless unless you're doing outposts and those are ultimately pointless when the time it takes to be profitable you could have made 100x more by selling and looting shit.

        Anonymous

B class is kinda bogus since a lot of its components are basically downgrades of the best A class stuff and none of its stuff is as good as even mid tier C class.
But the whole point is that its a progression. A class is the kind of small light shit you buy as a starter and C class is a big weighty freighter or battleship.

      Anonymous

You don't need Ship Command. At all. Unless you're dragging an entire gaggle of retards with you everywhere you go, there is no reason to have any crew at all, in fact. Every ship is flyable solo.
If you buy a ship with parts you cannot buy yourself, they still work. You can buy a ship with high level parts, so long as you don't delete them, they will work. So Ship Design isn't needed unless you NEED to edit something. Even then I was maxed out before level 30.
The only complaint thats valid is the Piloting perk locking you out of C class ships. But thats a first tier perk and its easy as fuck to just take a bunch of bounties and blow up some bros for fun.

They do, but they don't matter. They can't unlock stuff for you or bump you up a tier or whatever. And if you're flying a C class ship with okay guns, nothing can even sort of threaten you. The bonus they give is negligible.
Companions are entirely optional. They're walking flavor text. I literally took Isolation and Introvert so I didn't have to listen to them and it let me oneshot everything once I hit level 30.

So much of the game is just content for the sake of content. It's fucking stupid. Much of it doesn't even make sense in context. Ok sure, you need a more advanced license to pilot bigger ships and it's locked behind a perk symbolizing your time spent flying. But wait, why the fuck do I have to dig up raw fucking aluminum and set my ship's AI to researching just so I can change the scope on my gun? I can't open up a catalog and just buy it? Same for colonies. Why am I getting on this treadmill exactly? Just to spend time with the game? It's not even that you have to like or dislike the gameplay loop of "extract resources to extract more resources" like Minecraft or Factorio, but Starfield clearly isn't respecting your time. It's like a tired daycare worker handing off mismatched Legos to an autistic kid ffs. Just crack the game open with the console and give yourself the build you want and see if the game is still fun, for me though, I'm not sitting around chunking up lifeless planets when the bitch ass galaxy has already been colonized and commoditized. Also automatic turrets aren't fantastic, but they also shine in some areas. They just seemingly wont fire for no reason at all even if you're aiming their cone directly at like 4 enemies - but at other times they will just tear apart enemies you otherwise wouldn't be shooting.
If they were more consistent they'd probably be the best weapon type in the game.

      Funnily enough
Stroud sends you to his staryard on a quest because his R&D team are behind on designing his new ship. The girl you replace as team lead makes a bunch of snide comments about how you're not a ship designer, unless you have that perk already, in which case she doesn't.
Its early enough you might have rank 1 or 2, but probably not fully leveled.

The ship you get for that is pretty nice too, depending on what you make them decide. The budget one is a nice all rounder, and the full budget one is a hilarious mishmash of shit.

When do I get access to parts that aren't Deimos and Nova? Do I need Rank B authorization?

      Anonymous

      See

Bring it to a major brand's hub, build the core of the ship there, habs, cockpit and enough to get it off the ground then bring it to an outpost with the big pad to put all the cosmetics on, since you have all of them.

      for the brand specific staryards.

Early game, every regular ship technician sells a combo of usually 2 manufacturer's basic shit. New Atlantis is Nova and Deimos. Akila is Hopetech and Stroud (I think) etc.

The biggest sticker is the cockpits and big habs. Everything else is easy enough to deal with. I do wish the big landing pad gave you actually everything and I'm 100% certain that will be modded in very quickly.

I wish I took a screenshot of my ship before I went on to NG+ so I could show you guys a few things with the builder, but I rushed the ending pretty hard since I could feel myself burning out.

You can fully explore it and use research/modification benches/sleep in beds on it. One of the only good parts of the game is getting back to your ship during a shitty storm and then wandering through it back to the bridge and looking out as the storm passes and the hear rain batter off the windows. Comfy.

Are there any merchants with actual money on them? I'm starting to amass a lot of modified weapons that I need to dump for profit.

The Trade Authority in the Well of New Atlantis (take the elevator in the alley beside Jemison Mercantile) has something like 10000 credits. Still not enough for really late game weapons honestly.

      Ships come in 3 Classes, A, B and C.
Ship class is determined by its reactor. Bigger reactor, bigger ship, bigger class. You need perks to pilot anything but A class. This includes ships you buy or steal. So you can buy a C class ship if you have the money, but can't pilot it without the relevant perk.

When you have a ship, any ship from any source, you can modify it completely. Delete everything and start from scratch or just add stuff. The system has a few limitations, basically making sure the ship can land, has engines, has a cockpit, a way to dock, a way to get to your cockpit from where you get in, everything is actually attached to the ship etc. But you're otherwise completely free to make whatever you want from the components available.

The only considerations besides making sure the ship is somewhat logical is weight. Throw on a lot of stuff and you'll need bigger engines and can't ftl jump as far.

What's the deal with those random outpost missions where an NPC pays you for materials? You get three options to hand over varying amounts, but all of them are staggeringly high for how little you get for it (hundreds of raw materials for a few thousand creds, usually). I'm sure this works out to be some percentage higher than vendor price, but it doesn't account for the fact that I can't possibly be carrying that much on me and would only have that much available in the first place if I had a fully operational multi-outpost setup which is very expensive and time-consuming to do. I'm level 40 and only have the bare minimum outpost setup going so far, will probably take until at least level 50 to get all the perks needed to accumulate materials by the hundreds.

They should probably change it to target the cockpit component rather than (0,0) coordinates.

          >how do you make sure the habs don't connect themselves via ladders?

But this does mean that you can't have a hallway with evenly spaced doors on either side without some careful planning.

like this Its a bit of an annoying process but you get used to just doing it for almost every component pretty quick. The mouse controls for moving components around are ass, so its better to just spawn it where you want anyway.

Calm down. Its to keep you from breaking the economy over your knee in the early game. Since you can hijack ships basically in the first minutes of the game if you grab targeting early. The economy is broken by mid game anyway so you don't need those easy credits.
All they actually needed to do to justify the pirates needing registration is to have Jasmine or the bomb guy tell you its to break encryption or wipe it from the registry or something.

The exact details would be impossible, but the overall aesthetic is doable. It depends how married you are to the exact layout.
You can do a cockpit in the front with a long thin section and engines and stuff at the back. But being able to walk to the back is going to get hard because there are no hab sections that look like that.
You're also going to have to break up the sillhouette with landing gear and a bay. You can't make ships that are only in space. Every ship has to land, so you're limited in size and have to have gear.

Weapons need to be assigned to mouse 1, mouse 2 or G. You can only have 3 weapon groups at a time, and each group has to be made up of the same gun type (but can have multiple guns). So you can have 2 C0Cks-1 Cannons assigned to one weapon group and they'll fire at the same time when you press the button, but you can't have a C0Cks-1 and F4G-2 cannon on the same weapon group.

You assign groups by hitting C to bring up the warning messages thing and switching to the weapons tab.

Alright, because I'm currently trying to come up with something to do a bit more damage output against the swarm of First ships near the end of the Ranger questline. Only like level 17 and the ships that are being thrown at me are like early 20s so trying to find a way to mash my head against this wall instead of coming back later.

Honestly I'd warn you against doing that questline until a bit later anyway.
Right after those ships you land and have to go through a fucking gauntlet of soldiers. I had to leave and buy more medpacks before coming back because I did it early, but still later than you. Let those bros cool their heels for a bit and do some other stuff.

And yet HopeTech's Supervisor cockpit doesn't have a big ass bar in front of your face when you're trying to pilot it. I like the basic design on it, and would probably use it if it weren't so fucking annoying to look out of.

Is NG+ even worth it? I read you had to redo it like 10 times before the game unlocks all that it has to offer. Is that true? Does NG+ even add anything other than new gear and ship stuff? Or does it just change the intro?

Honestly this is the worst thing they could've done. Imagine doing this NG+ gimmick shit instead of just creating a coherent galaxy to explore.

NG+ has the occasional new dialogue options in quests which most the time either skips a persuasion check or alters the outcome slightly.
and it also has a ton of random encounters you wont see or which won't have any context for you in the first playthrough.
also I ain't sure, but it feels like it also improves the loot you get as well, where your more likely to find better loot the more you do it

the whole "have to do it 10+ times" is just if you want to fully upgrade all your powers from gathering temples

        >the whole "have to do it 10+ times" is just if you want to fully upgrade all your powers from gathering temples

Oh ok so I might actually keep playing then cause I still have a ton of faction quests and other side quests to go through. I just didn't wanna join all of them cause that didn't feel right.

Should I skip the main story or join the constellation?

        >feels like it also improves the loot you get

Well I hope so. Because the loot in this game felt kind of underwhelming. Even master lockpicking didn't yield much good loot. I guess we'll see.

There's no reason not to join Constellation, and there are some kino quests (the later ones usually).

I didn't do any companion quests on my first playthrough. Are they any good?

    >Ship parts super expensive, have to spend a ton of time going to random planets, looting a base and taking the stuff, going back to ship, flying back to port, sell my stuff
    >Repeat x50 to get 200000 credits
this is how i know you're just watching some retarded youtuber. i'm sitting on 150k creds from about 9 hours of playtime just going through the main story. this game has too many credits available. there is no real cred sink so you just amass a fortune

Ships are the cred sink, honestly. They cost a fair amount and if you're autistic like me you keep coming back to try a new design.

Honestly at this point the most boring thing is the Larian marketing teams.
