    Remove the idea of invading using your own gear entirely (except for red signs and duels), instead invading has your build changed to an area-appropriate dark spirit, maybe with some variants depending on your highest stat and the stats of the player being invaded.

        Resident Evil 6 had you take direct control of a single enemy when you "invaded" other players and it was the hypest shit. Bosses are already completely fricked with their regular AI so a player-controlled boss (not a Player Is The Boss situation like Mirror Knight and the Old Monk) would be awful.

        I was thinking every Orb invasion turns you into a From-designed cosplay build, trending more towards dickish gimmicky shit to let invaders have fun while forcing them to git gud and work with a non-optimized build.

          But also have some "covenant" areas where you can invade as yourself but its more of an optional area with good drops or some shit.

        Isn't that how it worked in dark souls 1 and 2? I remember in dark souls 2 getting invaded by a blue 200+ levels higher than me and having a lot of fun.

    I've never enjoyed invasions from either angle. I just want to play through a game with my buddies and my progress gets halted every 5 minutes by some bozo with nothing better to do than wait by mobs until one of us suicides out of boredom. On a foundational level, invasions don't work and should just be removed from the games. There are plenty of PvP focused areas for that purpose so just use those

The mechanic is too obfuscated by default and it wouldn't shock me if many casual players made their way through the entire game without even buying the white cipher ring. The Nerijus invasion where Yura intervenes was obviously supposed to be some kind of demonstration on how the mechanic works but it was obviously incomplete. Yura isn't even blue for fricks sake.

    Allows blues to fulfil the role they were always supposed to, which is to defend players who struggle on their own in PvP, instead of joining in on already insurmountable ganks.

      Is what made ER lame. Especially from a host perspective. You now either have guaranteed reds or never a red. Meanwhile you could play through previous souls games fully human and get invaded maybe like 1-2 times per zone, unless you're in a typical scrub stomping area

    If you don't want to get invaded, don't go human. Invasions were perfect when they let the invader be overpowered and shit on the host, but also let summons be overpowered. They ruined invasions by catering to weak homosexuals, like everything else in the modern world.

    It was fine in DS1 and DS2. You had reasons to go human, but it would also open the world up for pvp regardless of wether you had people summoned. It was the most fun: You could play through the game human and get occasional invasions.
    One of the problems I have with ER is that when I use a tongue, I get INSTANTLY invaded. It kinda takes the edge off because I know it's gonna happen. That's because the pool of potential invasion targets is so much smaller.

        It's not even hard to beat invaders. Like holy shit, just attack in their general direction. There's 2-3 of you, and only one of them. They hide behind enemies? So what, there's 2-3 of you, just kill the enemies, there's only a handful in the entire game that aren't piss useless and they only get weaker as the player gets stronger throughout the game. It's easier for the invader to win in Stormveil by hiding behind a single banished knight than it is for them to win in Farum Azula with an entire room of beastmen, because by then the host and summons are guaranteed to have some AoE nuke or broken L2 that trivializes every enemy.

        Which is the point of the invader, to put up some resistance from the level instead of letting you walk all over it as soon as you summon someone.

    Bring back the equipment/level grading system but factor in the victim as well as their summons. Some schmuck doing for-fun themed invasions should almost never get a gank squad. Some sweaty autist should always get gank squads.
