Why was this ever popular? Everything about it looks worse than even regular Ubisoft games.

Maybe if it wasn't John on the cover it would have been a good game
Have you played it?
You pick whatever guns you want with any attachments you want and then go around a giant map in any vehicle you want to do mission in any order you want
The AI is dumb but that's irrelevant, it feel good larping as seal team 6 and taking them down one by one
Also, that map was fricking gorgeous, jungle, snow and rocky mountains
Shame they couldnt reproduce that feel with the sequel
>Have you played it?
Nope. I was looking into this and The Division but everything about them just seems kinda off.
I really liked GRW, was really hopeful for the sequel, but it did not deliver
Division was somewhat ok, I cleared the story once and uninstalled immediately, there's supposed to be an endgame grind and shit but I couldnt see any value in that
I'd say both game were worth my time, but that's mostly because I had someone to bro-op with
I think Ghost Recon and Division had lower budget than AC and even Watch Dogs
>Also, that map was fricking gorgeous
it was the best looking game I played at the time easily, it actually made me get into that larp aspect of the game of thinking I'm some epic military strike team leader crawling thru jungle
didn't finish the game tho
>The AI is dumb but that's irrelevant, it feel good larping as seal team 6 and taking them down one by one
Yeah, stomping braindead AI like killing ants sounds like it'll be fun for hours and hours
It's fun to stir up the Unidad Hornet nest or the Los Extranjeros from the Fallen Ghosts dlc.
>Why was this ever popular?
Was it actually? Or are you just telling a fib.
There was a sequel for a reason anon. Even Ubisoft was surprised by it's popularity.
Shit, there's a sequel for everything, and Ubisoft has the art of formulaic, low-cost rehashing down to a T. But I'll take your word for it.
it was never popular. everyone who played the beta immediately knew that this was another ubi cashgrab
I used to play this on STADIA 🙁
RIP January 18 2023
there's an audience for tacticool dressup and operator larping that wants a game but doesn't want to get into modding arma
Hey, can you teach me how to get into modding arma
Asking for a friend
Download the mod you want
workshop makes it ez, just make a local backup of mods with ripped assets before they get reported to the steam jannies
This basically.
Modern Ghost Recon is arcadey enough to be accessible and fun, while still being nominally authentic to attract tacticool larpers.
Also there really isn't much competition in this particular niche of open-world games? MGSV sucks, noguns and no COOP.
the sequel is quite decent now with all its updates finished
people always say this but even the updates will never fix the unironically soulless map, it's just all the biomes of wildlands without the flair of bolivia and instead generic corpolab prefabs
They should’ve put it in a real country again.
It lets boomers why suck at pvp (squad, arma etc.) pretend they're in the military
It's literally just "MGSV at home", but I say that lovingly, because I wound up really enjoying the game.
Filtered
The extraction game they were making would have been fun. Mass pvp with modern drone combat and vehicles… could have been good but noooo
>predator dlc
holy shit this will be awesome
>bullet sponge
>that other predator game with was shit too.
steamy jungles and predators shoot outs please.
Yeah, Wildlands and Breakpoint were both janky pieces of trash, not really that deserving of the ghost recon name, and rife with ubisoft design decisions.
BUT they're both playable coop, have tacticool shit, and let you kind of do whatever so they fit a certain niche. I'd for sure play something in the same vein but actually good, but for the life of me I'm not aware of anything else like them.
I really liked how it effectively conveyed the sense that most of what you were doing was terribly shortsighted and morally repulsive. You're not even trying to solve the underlying coca problem. Your plan for the future of Bolivia is to tell the communist revolutionaries who've been doing the majority of the work for you, "Uh yeah, we'll come down on you just as hard for the cocaine as we did on these guys. good luck without your most valuable cash crop." And expect them to just go without complaint. Your boss tortures and sows internal conflict with high collateral damage. You kill a man the moment he gets off the phone with his young daughter in his greatest moment of desperation, then ship her and her mother off to witness protection even though the mother was responsible for more harm than the guy you killed.
It's literally Glow Simulator.
Based truth speaker.
I hope they don't come after you. Or me.
I liked it.
It was cool and fun 🙂
The stealth missions can suck my ass though.
How many times did you fail the Sam Fusher collab?
A billion million times.
Why does the Sam Fisher mission has to be the worst one in the entire game.
You can't kill anyone
At least the Breakpoint Sam Fisher stuff as better except for the meh boss fight at the end (loved that base at night in the rain though).
Dat music remixes too
One of the worst 2 games I've ever played.
It was fun to travel around a great map and do missions anywhere at anytime with any loadout. It was cool that even though it wasn’t “milsim” neither your team nor the enemy had much health or armor, so bullets were very lethal. It encouraged planning and careful approach to missions.
Good concept but it feels like shit to play.
The fast food version for stealth action
For when you want to be stealthy but didn't really feel like crawling through vents all day.
It’s fun with friends
Or so I hear. I have no friends anymore.
It's easily the best CIA spook simulator I have played. You go around killing druglords so you can setup your own and dish out any justice you see fit with no regards to the law. Also if you olay on the hardest with friends, it becomes really fun since both you and the enemies drop from few shots.
the game is pretty meh but the fact you can roam around with you have friends to play with and do some tactical shit is super fun
Map is big and varied with pretty landscape
Great character customization
Cartel story/lore isnt that bad
Its comfy
GRW enjoyer. Get to larp on a massive gorgeous map.
Because it's the typical braindead goyslop open world game with pointless skill trees, level ups and loot
It appeals to esls, shitskins and dopamine fried zoomers
It was a contractor/PMC larping simulator. Everything about it was arcadey. It was fun and had some weapon customization but was ultimately shallow and repetitive. Wasn't too bad as far as Ubisoft repeat mechanics go. AI was pretty god damn stupid.
It's very comfy and fulfilling if you force yourself to go stealth and plan things.
