Where did you use a guide?

      No, the art sucks.

      Frick you

I just beat it with a guide. After I broke down at Eden I basically just pulled it out every single time...

      >mfw I got stuck at Tower of Goddess because I didn't realize those fricking support beams acted as ladders

That's too bad anon. Some late game puzzles are bullshit but it's still the core of the game.

It's okay to use a guide sometimes. Still highly enjoyable. Just do your best and if you get stuck for more than a couple hours resort to a guide if you have no patience.

Frick patience, it's absurdly obtuse, you need to make like a conspiracy theorist level chart of everything and where you found it to have even a chance on your own. And god fricking help you if you ever miss something, cause there is zero guidance for where you might be wanting to go next. A very good concept, that only is fun for a select few highly autistic outliers.

Yes but Tiamat is insane and likely to feed me to her monster children. Baphomet would give me the chance to elaborate on why I want to motorboat her. Also the body paint gets me going.

LM2 hard mode randomizer is some of the most fun I've had with any game.

      >randomizer in either of those games
      Complete fricking insanity.

LM1 randomizer is some of the best shit, but for some reason everytime I try to replay 2 I just get about an hour in and drop it. I just can't get into 2 the same way I did 1 for some reason.

It's not a fun game. Movement is too tedious and combat is the definition of clunky.

I gotta wait another 20 years or so until I forget everything from my first run, sorry

I did this, albeit after five years, was fun. After the third run though, everything is burned into memory unfortunately. Randomizer runs (including randomized exit layouts, not just items) are kinda nice for some simulated alzheimers but it's just not the same.

I beat 2 without a guide except for the fricking dinosaur statue, what a complete load of bullshit.
I went back to 1 as I only ever got close to beating it, the gate of illusion was a fricking nightmare. and had to use a guide again, for the last boss of the bossrush I think, and almost definitely for finding the dragonskull. But I did solve the wedges on my own.

Obtuse to a fault and navigating the environment (your primary interaction with this game) is sloppy.

there's an item that lets you warp to save points in the tutorial area, which obviously makes softlocking impossible
You kinda only have yourself to blame for skipping the tutorial area.

            again
            >just be psychic
I believe you guys it's a cool game but its clearly flawed and its interesting to see how many other anons had the same problem. I went into the game blind and i'm inclined to believe the shitposting about guides. CV2 is less cryptic and that's translated into gibberengish.

your opinion is 100% justified, as

unless you're autistic, some of the puzzles are complete bullshit

said, you need to be pure autisimo to play the game without a guide
the entire game is convoluted "puzzles" that if you weren't taking notes of every single little thing, you're just fricked, hence the need for autism

Which is harder in terms of puzzles/secrets? This, or Environmental Station Alpha?
This is assuming the player is experiencing the games blind taking notes, drawing hints, and without a walkthrough as God intended.

I mean, isn't it more of a puzzle game than anything? Sure it has some metroidvania elements, but usually when I think of the genre I think of moving fast around levels trying to find the fastest path around objectives.

Memes aside, you are technically correct, but Simon's Quest shitty reputation comes mostly from how terribly it was translated and the fact it lies to you all the time for no reason. There's a fan-made translation that actually fixes the dialogue and the game is kinda impressive for its age.

My several hundred pages of notes tell me I have already.
I didn't finish LM1 just due to getting severely burnt out at the end of the game where I solved most of the puzzles and just had a shit ton of bosses I didn't want to fight. Instead of revisiting LM1 I just jumped to 2 and generally had a much more fun time with it.
I had to spoiler some shit and it's always dumb stuff like the warp pot or the game not letting me go into the secret wall to get the golden key in LM2 and assuming I needed to approach that area from a different entrance.

For me I reached a point in both games where I'm so stuck that I spend a few hours fighting a boss I obviously am not equipped for and have hints I don't have the right items for just because I've run out of ideas. Those would be the timestop bird without lamp in LM1 and Giant in Valhalla with RNG lightning and not the item that aims it in LM2.
      Neither helped in any fashion

I never know if theres something for me to find in this direction or if im just wasting my time and should go back

you do have to be okay with making many laps back around the ruin looking for something you've overlooked.
I spent easily 6 hours just doing laps of the fricking eternal battlefields lower half in the second half of the game trying to solve hels gates.

          Anonymous

Hel gates was probably my favorite puzzle to work out in both games. It's a great combination of collected information, process of elimination, and simple logic for the available gates in each area and what they connect to

The suffering of searching does give you the tastiest dopamine hit when you reorganize your notes and notice a significant amount of unused hints for an area to look over that area more and make a breakthrough
