He did, apparently even in the notoriously repressive for employees environment of the Japanese office, everyone had enough of him and complained loudly enough to Squeenix that he got removed from his game, which was a mess because of him. Also, he has never discredited the Peter Moore story, even though he "discredited" the Sonic Xtreme one (by lying and saying the NiGHTS engine was never used in any other game, even though it was, on other games he himself worked on)

He said the NiGHTS engine was never used in any other game, that it was impossible. It was used in Burning Rangers, another game he worked on. The Sonic Xtreme story was never anything other than "Bernie Stolar took Naka's engine to try to help the Xtreme team, they worked on it for like two weeks, then stopped when they realized Naka wouldn't like it"

It was the same base engine, this is an objective fact, cope.

Why did Square let him direct a game? Wasn't he a producer at Sega?

He quit Sega in 2006 and farted around making a few tiny games for a decade (after Nintendo's security guards made him leave the parking lot in Kyoto) until Square-Enix gave him his last chance.

His butthurt at Ohshima is on a whole different level.

              >Stalin'd him out of picture
              >Is so assblasted at him specifically that if you tweeted at both him and Ohshima he WILL ask you personally to remove his name from the tweet he doesn't want associate with him on any level not even twitter

Nothing will ever remove the fact that Ohshima was the one who designed Sonic, and Naka was a code monkey who didn't even want to make Sonic 3, but still wanted Sega to buy him Ferraris.

Most of those references are in magazines and the two that are online: 1 doesn't make ANY mention WHATSOEVER of using the nights engine, the most they say is how the game DIFFERS from Nights.
The other was in spanish and only says that they used what they created 3D wise from Nights as the starting point for this game. That in no way implies they used the engine, merely that their prior efforts helped them get started. I stopped checking references after that. Just fricking wiki-pathetic as always.

lel. I believe the actual story is Naka was thinking of jumping ship to Nintendo, but then in the parking lot he saw a security guy. He was too chickenshit to get out and then just drove away. He tells it as a "what oculd have been".

In the end it wouldn't have mattered anyway, they took the engine in mid 96, there wasn't enough time to build the game (and the STI team had 0 clue on what game to even make).

Naka's still a bellend diva though.

You forgot the one where he came to look at a in-production shooter launch title, told SEGA on the spot to hire all their engine devs to work on his sonic game and fire everyone else and then got the game cancelled. he's getting his just desserts

Supposedly he was behind the reason why Naka got kicked off of Balan. But we only have Naka's word. And no proof or even what Ohshima himself would tell of what exactly happened during the development

          it's so funny
he calls his buddy pal Ohshima and probably told him they're both gonna make money and gets Arzest signed up as the developer for Balan Wonderworld
now he copes and seethes about him to the extreme

Naka is forcibly retired at 56 because he made one of the worst video games of the last 15 years and burned every bridge he ever made. Ohshima is the president of Arzest and a prominent Nintendo partner (which Naka never did or will work at lmao)

Took all the credit for sonic

Because he was a very good programmer, or at least he used to be.

Also he was just at the right place and time to get more influence at Sega even though again he was just a programmer , he never came up with Sonic's design. When he made the engine for the original Sonic game he used a fricking ball as a placeholder graphic

But Naka has always had a bigger ego then sense. Which in turn makes him a fricking butthole to actually work with on both the Japanese and western side of things
