Only thing I haven't tried in VR yet. I need to save up quite a bit for gear and playseat.

    >hundreds/thousands of dollars for something with no games beyond tech demos
    >can't use your hands unless you pay a premium for index or feet, have to use shitty controllers and teleport everywhere
    >screen door effect nobody talks about
    >gigantic uncomfortable headset that feels like shit to peel off your face if you sweat in it
I want VR to exercise and have fun, but it's just not viable in its current format.

      >hundreds/thousands of dollars for something with no games beyond tech demos
      not all are tech demos.
not all headsets and setups are 1k or over
      >can't use your hands unless you pay a premium for index or feet, have to use shitty controllers and teleport everywhere
whats wrong with controllers? how else are you going to reliably control what you do in VR? have you ever tried Kinect?
teleport? just turn on smooth locomotion moron
      >screen door effect nobody talks about
autism issue. just don't pay attention to it, and pay more to the game.
      >gigantic uncomfortable headset that feels like shit to peel off your face if you sweat in it
sure, but depends on your headset. it's always gonna feel like shit when you sweat in something
      >I want VR to exercise and have fun, but it's just not viable in its current format.
it 100% is. just don't pick shit options for VR, and find a game you really like. I prefer blade and sorc and Bonelab with mods and friends
I always have tons of fun in VR when I'm shooting shit in BL or decapitating women in B&S then face-fricking the head

funny you went straight to me being a paid shill.
my wording was wrong, apologies. I was meaning to convey that controller-less input is not a reliable form of control. especially for VR, where there is much more movement than even a Kinect can track. such as in B&S, swinging weapons around.

99% games are movie slop, and movie slop requires hours of cutscenes, devs can't figure out how to do cutscenes in VR

Hello fellow gamers, it's me Rod here. Have you guys tried Skyrim VR? It's honestly fun and immersive, and you'll feel like a Dragonborn. Sure it has some bugs, but they're not a big deal.

Skyrim is unironically one of the best uses for VR. There's definitely higher quality stuff but Skyrim works great as a VR game with a few mods and it's a full scale game.
If anyone isn't aware, manual reloading is being worked on by the F4VR FRIK dev

    >VR debut happened after AAA investment bubble popped, so it never had any momentum behind it like the current wave of shitbox consoles
    >Headstrap design took a drastic plunge during the transition to standalone headsets, when they would have needed good headstraps to cope with the frontloaded weight
    >It's all walled garden slop because everyone wanted to be the next smartphone sloppa
    That's about it.

      check out mods
most unreal engine games have been ported to vr read all resident evil games since 2 remake also games like alien amnesia borderlands 3 etc sidequest is an option too and also doom 2 complete half life games and as already mentioned skyrim and fallout

I've tried playing Alien Isolation with a VR mod and I almost puked myself - and I'm usually fine when playing VR games. Just slapping a virtual reality mod on a non-VR game has its issues.

maybe but i wouldnt pin that down on one specific game
ive play half life 2 skyrim f2p standalone games left 4 dead 2 normal turning and running with left stick since day 1 and never head issues when sitting or laying in bed
if i stand i get headaches and dizzy quickly tho

Alien Isolation has native VR which was made for the DK2. The mod just enables it with other headsets. I played through most of the game in VR when it first released.

i have wanted to try vr since it came out, but i can't bring myself to spend money on all the upgrades i'd need. vr will take off hard when they make it cheap and figure out how to make it work through USB

I've always wondered what people mean by cheap here, you can already buy standalone VR for 100$ or so used, how much cheaper does it need to be?
      What's the cutoff?

nta but standalone games are garbage
i only tried q3 so far but i can only imagine how shit the games must look and run on q2
if anxmything he should get a passable pc first b4 even thinking about vr and thats what xir probably ment by costs

Q3 is breddy good. You get ps3-tier graphics at decent res and framerate.

i dont want to get a used headset. there are wmr headsets that are a bit cheaper, but why cheap out 50-200 dollars for a way shittier product? most of what im referring to is upgrades though. shit's too expensive and requires too much effort, so it's not worth it.

Beat Saber is genuinely the funnest vidya I have ever played beating out even KH2FM. The problem is I'm unfit but will play nonstop for the entire 3-4hr battery life and I will be sore as frick afterwards.
