I also vaguely remember that EI had a gamebreaking bug that would prevent you from finishing the first island on release.
It really isn't. EI has snappy controls and a balanced difficulty, whereas the controls in Gorasul fricking suck ass. Even moving the screen is sluggish.

Yeah so EI has good stealth and there are plenty of approaches to combat encounters.
Gorasul relies on you being a special snowflake, so you have "special dragon powers" that kick in when you're low hp. You can also chug HP potions infinitely with no animation.
EI balance is in another league compared to this piece of shit.

get the scene release, the 1.06 no cd fixed exe, paste dgVoodoo files for x86, run in winxp comp mode and admin rights
should be about it. else, downgrade to win7/xp or run it in a VM.
what scene release are you talking about? also did those things and still doesn't work, I have win 7 and have also tried it on a xp vm, every time I try it with dgvoodoo it keeps hanging on the JoWood intro in blackscreen, repeating itself and no input response.

you can't download a "normal copy". it implies ripped files by some shmuck with potential aids injected into it
"scene" is an untouched copy archived from a reputable team. supplied cracks don't mean there were changes done to it unless specified. the only safer choice is using an original CD

One thing I could try is the exact same way it's at your end, if you could copy you folder into a .zip file and put it on anonfiles,com than maybe it would work.

I have done that all the while, (also there 4 of them) but I take it the 2nd one is the play disc, I have used that one with every option

It only happens either if I try the NOOV exe or when I have DGVoodoo (and the dlls) in the folder. My computer does have a problem with DirectDraw games ever since I had too reinstall it and only some of them work again through Dgvoodoo
Windows rot, many such cases. Perform a clean install, then come back. There's no point troubleshooting this any further.
I did, twice, isn't there a better way that just forcefully fixes Directdraw correctly or reinstalls it correctly?

I have a feeling the Nvidia screws something up everytime I reinstalled Windows, if I tried a game withouth having the Nvidia drivers it would display correctly, but with the Nvidia drivers either DirectDraw games would display in black and white or won't work at all.
