A bunch of returning 'forms' (all with both joy-cons).
Multiplayer modes, now with simultaneous multiplayer options instead of just taking turns.
Genuine good time.
Honestly I'm close to agreeing with you. Everything released this year was either a retread or too fucking big for its own good. Pizza Tower was just fucking fun, didn't overstay its welcome, and comes off as a genuine work of passion from start to finish.
Then when does it get fun?
Surely it wasn't the first playthrough, so mindless and easy.
But P ranking everything also isn't fun, since it's not really about skillful reaction, but memorizing each level piece by piece.
good question. I for one am not really a tendie but I really like the gameplay and aesthetic of nu Zelda. I'd imagine if you like video games you'd like these Zelda games.
it's too childish so it's like made for kids i assume. but then it's also boring and kids don't like boring games.
now you have game that adults nor kids like. it's stupid. are there really so many of those adult kid hybrids
who even buys zelda. it's weird series. these new games don't really appeal to kids or adults. who the hell are these people

>You mean nintenbabbies. Normies prefer Dad of War and FIFA.
Zelda is one of the most normie franchises in history, every wannabe nerd loves or pretends to love Zelda.
These new games appeal to people who liked the original game which has been present on almost every Nintendo system and therefore would've found many people of varying ages.
This is one of the biggest lies that gets regurgitated by nu-Zelda fans.
LoZ is absolutely nothing like BotW/TotK. >b-but they're open world!
Vague to the point of meaninglessness.
LoZ is infinitely more condensed and focused, with minimal filler, and some item gating. BotW/TotK are much closer to modern Ubisoft games. >b-but they made a prototype!
Cool. Is that what they released? No? Okay then.
You misunderstand.
LoZ was built from technical limitations
BotW was built from examining that formula and going "if I could solve this puzzle in any logical way, what would that look like?"
>LoZ was built from technical limitations
All games are built from technical limitations. The execution is what matters. >BotW was built from examining that formula
It doesn't matter what they "examined" if the final product is nothing like it. They also "examined" Skyrim and Far Cry, and those had far more of a direct influence on the final product (giant open world full of repetitive content, towers, etc).
This always happens with nu-Zelda fans - be as vague as possible, avoid talking about the actual end product. Sorry, that's not how it works. The VIDEO GAME is what matters, not the marketing.
If you're just going to ignore the point and be mad about it there's no reason to keep giving you (you)'s. It's not my job to be your therapist.

You made no points, you just want to pretend like botw is a zelda game because you don't care about zelda, more botw is all you want, and it worries you that if actual fans gain traction that zelda will actually be more zelda again instead of just another ubislopfest. You only use the original loz as a shield to that end, banking on convincing people who've never played it or wish to be just as delusional about it. To that end having to rely on a marketing gimmick is perfect for you because the games themselves are nothing alike. Instead of just owning that botw is completely different, you can't handle being called what you are, a parasite.
That anon is right and you got btfo'd.

Nigga I am not reading all that. I loved OoT and MM as a kid, then WW blew my mind because I have always loved the sensation of exploring a huge world, then TP was middling, and I skipped SS entirely because it was waggle trash and I wasn't buying even more Nintendo peripherals. Played all the GBC, GBA, and DS games in the meanwhile.

These people who pine for the zelda dark ages of gamecube and wii will never stop getting btfod by newer zelda games finally being goty level again. All while being more faithful to original zelda than OoT was, as illustrated by this picture
Cope shitters your game just sucks and doesn't have something unique in its genre like totk does. Even BG3 can be fully replicated by playing dos2. Good luck building controllable airplanes in botw. Even without the building and physics, as you can see from this picture, totk is pure distilled classic zelda brought to life. Literally every concept drawing from 30 years ago fully realized in this game. It's a shame they couldn't do this during gamecube/wii eras but I guess there's a reason why those consoles are known as the zelda dark ages.
drawn in the 90s, perfectly illustrating things you can do in totk that no other zelda has all of.
Marketing man tells others all any game is about is towers. Very funny. Why does he hate this specific architecture so? We'll never know. Nobody show him sm64 or OoT both rife with towers but somehow made before assasins creed.
The 9 mandatory dungeons are 4 times the size of the overworld too on top of the overworld being designed like a dungeon. People who try to force that narrative are banking on people not having played LoZ.
Well BotW had just 4 dungeons + shrines + labyrinths. TotK had 6 dungeons + shrines + caves + depths + sky islands. The next iteration should be even closer to your grand vision.
ER was a far more faithful game to LoZ by accident than either BotW or TotK was and that's fucking sad.

That's fair and I'm not mad about your take. Elden Ring is from an older school of gameplay and pretty much perfected it. BotW was revolutionary. They're different but only you're sad about it.

>They're different but only you're sad about it.
Not the only one, but I am sad about it. I want Zelda games. Haven't had a new one in over a decade. Even if BotW was revolutionary, which it wasn't, it did nothing we haven't seen before, it's just following that open world trend thanks to Skyrim and Minecraft. It should've been a new IP instead of commandeering a 30 year old series.
Anonymous
>wasn't
Wrong. It destroyed the open world that Skyrim and Ass Creed were the culmination of, a cancer that started with Oblivion and plagued open world games ever since.
BotW was unfettered freedom in a world without handholding quest markers and chore list gameplay. It pioneered traversing an open world as a gameplay element, changing open worlds from literal filler empty space to an active and participatory part of the game.
I think you're too blinded by nostalgia to see what they actually accomplished, but thankfully you got Elden Ring, which was similar in design and used its pedigree to be less handholdy but was still entirely baked in the chore-list "follow the quest marker" gameplay. I love Elden Ring, mind you.

Skyrim is still by far the better open world and I don't even like it. It actually justifies its open world by focusing on the worldbuilding and lore first and foremost. Same with Minecraft justifies its open world. Neither games would work any other way. Ubisoft is not the only dev that makes open worlds.
Not having quest markers is not revolutionary design. If anything I could easily see them not having them only because they wouldn't wanted to have marked every seed and shrine, have the player see all that garbage, and shut the game down right then and there. >I think you're too blinded by nostalgia to see what they actually accomplished
No. I gave BotW every chance. I was excited as hell for it. I thought an open world could work for Zelda pretty easily. Still do. But not how they're doing it.

It wouldn't have sold anywhere near as much, but it still likely would've created a successful new IP.
It's an adventure game with a huge world with a physics system that's fun to mess around with and 150 mini dungeons where most of them have unique puzzles. Wow I wonder why this is popular/

Alsothe combat tutorial shrines don't count either.

Fuck this game. Seriously. Every time something interesting or challenging shows up it just turns out that you've approached The Puzzle from the wrong angle and missed the switch. The exact same thing happened on the Island with the 3 monster camps where you need to get the side quest to kill them before the boat appears allowing you to access the main hub. I wiped out all 3 camps and couldn't get into the hub because I never spoke to the fucking guy so the boat never appeared. Stupid bullshit. There's no exploration if it's gated behind a guy telling you there's something to discover there.

I think a lot of the people who complain about the loss of "traditional Zelda" are upset by stuff like this. The game is confusingly formulaic, and asheres to it quite rigidly for some reason. The new games would probably be much better received if they didn't have shrines for every puzzle and "activate the terminals". I'm really surprised that the terminals format was reused, TOTK's dungeons all felt like they'd be much better with a "traditional" style.

They 100% appeal to kids. My brother and sister both love BOTW and didn't like any of the old Zeldas. They both liked BOTW so much they bought TOTK day 1 but both of them dropped it within a week
I love the 2D games. I even loved Link's Awakening remake on Switch. I like some of the 3D games: Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are quite good. I don't care for BoTW or ToTK. I'm 33.
Tendies will buy literally anything if it has the Nintendo logo on it and try to convince you it's the only game worth playing, then proceed to forget about it as soon as new tendieslop drops and repeat the process over and over again since 1996

You give people gifts because you want them to enjoy it. They likely knew anon was a fan of the Zelda series, but not how much he'd hated the direction it's gone in. They're not going to want him to be miserable playing something he hates. If I had given someone a gift they hate I'd hope they either quietly return it, regift it to someone who'd like it, or if they're really close to me tell me so I know I can get them something they'd like next time.
It's pretty obvious that these games have mass appeal from the sales. If you've never played Nintendo consoles it probably seems alien to you, but these recent Zeldas especially have done a good job at offering up an experience I've seen people of all ages enjoy. I see 3rd grade boys doodling triforces in their math workbooks at the school where I teach, and it even appeals to people like my boomer father in his 60s. He likes collecting the shrines and ignoring the main quest.
I'm so sure they're drawing the Triforce when it doesn't factor into either of these games at all. Let me guess, when they finished drawing, they showed it to the class and everyone clapped.

NTA, I disliked BotW, but there's no way it's going to be seen as a mistake. With how gangbusters both it and TotK made it's going to be the new paradigm for Zelda going forth.
Been playing Zelda since Link's Awakening and every game has left me wanting to explore more of the world however I want. I liked Metroid and also loved Metroid Prime despite it doing pretty much that. If they had an open-world Metroid where you flew the ship around and explored the same planet from multiple tunnel entrances that had to be interconnected on the inside there's some meat to the idea but it probably wouldn't be done that well. IIRC Metroid Prime 3 had a bunch of backtracking in that way and it didn't go so well.

> want metroidvania to be thrown out so you can freely run around on the planet doing whatever >loved Metroid Prime despite it doing pretty much that
Prime is nothing like that, it's nothing like BotW. It is still a pure 3D metroidvania.
Then it's a dead series as far as I'm concerned. They turned it into Banjo Nuts and Bolts for ADHD zoomers who just want to run around completely bland environments doing repetitive tasks until their dopamine receptors are fried. The delivery of the story was insultingly bad as well, and Zelda's voice actor must have rich parents or something because she's fucking awful. The game doesn't look like Zelda, it doesn't play like a Zelda game. Shrines and Koroks pad the fuck out of it again. They added the sky and underground areas just so you could have more empty bland bullshit they could fill with time-wasting garbage. The building and combining mechanics were busted as fuck and just annoying more often than not. Everyone just stuck two fans to a steering wheel and cheesed everything because it wasn't fun to build things and the arbitrary limitations on a lot of stuff just made you not even want to bother experimenting.
Running around getting cutscenes delivered to you haphazardly is the laziest fucking shit in the world, and most of them sucked because they had no idea what order you were going to get them in. Characters weren't memorable. Dungeons were trash again. Combat is more pausing to heal and just breaking a ton of shit over something until it dies. It's just bad. I could go on and on, but I don't even like talking about the thing because it just annoys me. It's such a throw away game, it's insane to me that this is what they want one of their flagship franchises to be now.
They could have taken the 170 shrines, put 10 of them together, connected them with corridors and arenas for battles, and made 17 "shrine-dungeons" scattered around the kingdom. That would have made the shrines acceptable because I'll tell you, after 50, I no longer wanted to go into them and face all those animations, texts and loading screens, to do something in 45 seconds and get the same reward every time.

I always thought Zelda was their baby growing up that they'd never corrupt with what ails the industry, but I was a naive child back then. Now I understand perfectly why they want their flagship franchise to be like this, it makes a shitload of money and that's all that matters to them. What I don't understand is why consumers are so hellbent on fellating it despite all its issues, but then again I don't understand garbage like Fortnite or gacha either, so I guess I'm just old and out of touch.

>The really sad thing is Zelda just became the type of slop that even tons of indies have been creating for the past decade, but practically nobody is making Zelda type games.
Because it's hard to actually design a structured game like Zelda with consistently good progression, pacing and content. It's relatively far easier to just generate a huge world, sprinkle copy pasted content all over it and tell the player to fuck off and go make their own fun instead and that they can just cheese or ignore any of the copy paste they don't like or is somehow too hard for them.
And sadly it's what many players seem to prefer because apparently people don't stop to think that they've only been slowly running from one bit of copy pasted content to the next and that their imagination for what could be over that hill is definitely something exciting this time, and not just another korok seed and that they've long since seen and exhausted all the game has to offer. I could understand if it were at least multiplayer like so many other open world games so your friends can pick up the slack and create the enjoyment the game lacks, but obviously it's not.
>Oh boy, we're celebrating remakes now?
Yes, when they're actually well made like SSR, RE2R, HGSS, Zero Mission, DQ7.
>Cut the one liners, shit cinematography, etc.
The plot and cinematography was always shit. Every single single about the original is overrated other than the precise gunplay which makes the game enjoyable to master. RE4R and RE4 are both 6/10 games.

why do so many people here feel the need to discuss games they just haven't touched? >mario wonder >pikmin 4 >remake 4 >sea of stars >cp phantom liberty >bg3
like it's so obvious your only opinions of any of these games are 100% based on the youtubers you/your friends watch. just discuss the games you actually play instead of parroting the talking points you've heard for why something is bad, don't you find that to be a boring conversation anyways?
It's kinda funny how shitty this year has been for games. It feels like nothing good came out. Even the new Zelda game seemed to have no lasting impact, it feels like it just came and went and no one's talking about it.
BG3 is the only one that seemed to have any lasting impact, with normalfags gushing all over it. I'm not into gay tranny games though so overall it's been a pretty lame year for vidya
The reason the Zelda game seems to have come and gone is because it's too similar to the original BOTW. Everyone already played that game to death, but I wonder how many people bothered to finish the sequel.
I'm just one person but I follow this. I loved botw, played the absolute shit out of it. I loved totk too, and played it a ton for a while, but eventually just dropped it (not too far into the game either, maybe like 1/3 story-wise).
It's a great game but I just haven't had that itch to explore everything like I did with botw. I'd say it's even better than botw, it's just botw was instantly iconic while totk is just more of the same so it feels more derivative I guess
BotW revolutionized open-world games. The only other developer inventive enough to do so was Kojima with Death Stranding. Both of them strip away the skinner box mentality that's plagued us and is the primo complaint with the Ubisoft chore list format that we've been stagnating in since Oblivion and its quest markers ruined the genre.
Death Stranding and BotW both strove to make the traversal of open worlds an intimate part of the gameplay, making every moment part of the game instead of just holding forward until you get to the quest marker. It replaced what was literally map filler with active gameplay.
TotK assumed you've already done that, and so gives you a toolkit to make the map into your bitch any way you so please. The traversal is not a snowy survival struggle anymore, but a sandbox for you to play with all the creation toys you get.
>BotW revolutionized open-world games. The only other developer inventive enough to do so was Kojima with Death Stranding
God I hate walking sim enthusiasts. Just go outside. Go on a hike. You see that mountain in the real world? There's a hiking trail for it. Stop ruining video games.

just play lies of p or something and stop complaining, this year has been great for games
>Even the new Zelda game seemed to have no lasting impact, it feels like it just came and went and no one's talking about it.
That isn't supported by google trends though. Tears of the Kingdom is averaging about 10x more searches per day than Spiderman 2 despite spideman 2 coming out a few weeks ago. Give it 6 months and TotK will be getting 30x more searches per day. TotK is even doing better than the new Mario game that came out a few weeks ago, the first 2d mario game in over a decade in a year with the big Mario movie and Zelda still gets more interest each day.
Really? Then how come it doesn't seem like anyone is talking about it? Is it just getting overshadowed by BG3? I bet that's what's happening then, if that's the case
"Impact" and whether or not anybody's talking about any given game's completely dependent on where you look and so anecdotal it's not really a worthwhile metric. If you go out of your way to google TOTK you'll get about a dozen articles from the past week, same for if you put it into a search bar on any given social media site. There were like four different concurrent threads about it here a few minutes ago even. You mention BG3 overshadowing it but I've read any number of posts saying the exact same stuff about it recently with the same reasoning, which I think of as proof of just how subjective this type of thing is.
Now they use the "google" excuse. The reality is that there is no genuine interest in the game on the part of the players.
I was curious and Google trends reinforces the idea that TOTK didn't have much of an impact despite selling so much. It is surpassed by Elden Ring, a game released almost 2 years ago.
My thesis is that a significant portion of players became disappointed with TOTK when they noticed that instead of building on BOTW and expanding on that game, it is actually Nintendo re-releasing BOTW, but now slightly different.
i have a theory that all new search results regarding Nintendo properties are 100% dictated by new releases in regards to trends and fan content.
A lot of oldschool Zelda games are largely ignored in favour of the ""new and popular thing:DDD"", which would explain shit like Pokemon and Kirby even though the games are arguably worse.
Its all trend hopping with consoomers. They don't care about the franchise going down the shitter so long as they remain "trendy" by obsessing over the newest Zelda games. You used to see it over on Tumblr back when WindWakerHD and New Leaf were big; everyone ignored the older games.

A lot of good games came out. Nothing gets talked about for more than a few weeks anymore. The Internet makes everything disposable because we have to discuss BRAND NEW THING instead of couple of weeks old thing. Log off and play some games.
>it feels like it just came and went and no one's talking about it.
This place literally hasn't missed a day when it comes to daily TotK threads and the game itself still gets talk in the internet at large like trending on Twitter as recently as today, I really don't know where this "no one talks about it" narrative comes from
These people don't discuss videogames with any of their friends (of which they probably have very few if any) so all they know is what they see on Ganker, which they dont realize their mind just ignores threads about games they dont care for
Quarantine is over. No one is talking about games for most of the year like they did ACNH or BOTW when they came out. There's other shit to do/play now.
there is no way bg3 is winning goty lmao
the prize alone would legitimate them too much and the game awards are still part of the journo/developer clique >yeah we've give the award to the game that showed how every other dev has to try harder
>the prize alone would legitimate them too much and the game awards are still part of the journo/developer clique
Are you retarded? Big Gay 3 is a journo's wet dream. >Drag queens >Fags >Brown people all over the place >everyone in the game is ugly
It's literally journobait.
They're ultimately an elitist clique. They talk a good game but in the end it's tribe over all. They'll play a trannyslop trailer and talk about how amazing it is just to pat themselves on the back while they suck off corporate slop two handed full gawk.
Honestly as one of the oldest Zelda fans, this will be bliss for me to see BOTW aids ridden tranny homosexuals put in their place. I hope baldurs fag 3 wins.
OoTrannies such as yourself were the original cancer that ruined Zelda. Seeing you fags sob and shit yourselves over BotW #2 being released instead of OoT rehash #5 has been a hilarious few years.
I wouldn't be shocked if TotK wins, but I can't think of anything that game does better or different than BOTW to justify winning over BG3. BG3 at least was a risk, while TotK played it safe by comparison.
I uninstalled the RE4 remake after you get the medallion in that part right after you meet the first merchant. Wasn't having fun and it just made me want to play the real RE4
>ITT: Copium and damage control
What's up Ganker?, your shitty campaing of annoying daily seething threads and shameless shilling for all the other slop didn't work?
Jesus fucking christ what is wrong with americans.
I dont care what fanbase it is usually, but the way the breath of the wild fanbase acts literally forces my hand in posting this. I'm tired of them pretending they're real zelda fans, they're fucking mentally ill and im not going to pretend they're not.
Baulder's Gate 3 will win
TotK wasn't as well remembered as BotW, Spiderman 2 is too buck broken and glitchy, lol 2D Mario ever winning goty, RE4 is just a remake
and anything before that is long forgotten, although if Hogwarts Legacy won I'd fucking laugh for years to come at the amount of hatred it would get
Those are all sold physical copies of TOTK, Nintendo digital sales data aren't shared with anyone in the industry. Meanwhile Xbox Series is having its physical drive removed and Walmart will destock Xbox physical games. Nature is healing.
>Those are all sold physical copies of TOTK, Nintendo digital sales data aren't shared with anyone in the industry.
You absolutely massive retard.

This'll be updated tomorrow with sales through September 30th. Right now it is only through June 30th.
I would be fine with either this or BG3 winning. In terms of world design, level design, interactivity, and freedom, TotK is straight-up genius level, even though it can easily be broken. BG3 is just an insanely well done turn-based RPG, and hopefully it repopularized turn-based for normalfags so we can start getting proper AAA turn-based RPGs again.
TOTK was a 7/10 for me. It's literally the same fucking game as BOTW but with a building gimmick that I got sick of eventually. Yeah it's technically impressive but I don't care about minecrafting a Da Vinci contraption for 20 minutes, all while dealing with the frustrating building controls, to fly around when a steering stick and a couple fans works just as good. How anyone can give this game a 9 or 10 when the main story dungeons are abysmal is baffling to me. They're slightly bigger shrines with a mediocre bossfight at the end. How the FUCK can anyone excuse the Spirit Temple? This is the future of the franchise? Just give me an OOT remake or something, I don't care about Zelda anymore
Honestly, Armored Core 6 deserves it, but it won't get it. While Zelda and Hi-Fi Rush and Mario obsessed over waifushit and "epic cinematic commentary", AC6 just wanted to be a video game. Runner up goes to Pizza Tower.
As much as I liked re4 remake why is it allowed to nominate a remake as GOTY? Doesn't that just set a precedent that you can just rehash an old game with new bells and whistles and have it be better than anything new and original?
It's literally all snoy has to taunt pc players with. 10 years of posting bloodborne with a golden glow on a pedestal that says "not for pc players" and you think the game isn't wanked. Get your life straight dude.
Cope is pretending that ToTK had any merit when it was just a repackaged BoTW with shit framerate and nothing else, astroturfed by Nintentoddlers who haven't played a single competent game in their entire life and call what Nintendo is doing 20 years after the rest of the industry "a stroke of unparalleled genius" because they're completely insular.
Look at all that cope. He's still mad about totk btfoing his favorite game he's attacking the technical aspects which the entire industry agrees are like magic on the switch.
I've never seen a games technicals praised as much as the entire world praised totk.

You're retarded. There is no such thing as a flawless game and there is no such thing as a flawless score. 10/10 has never meant flawless. Tetris is a 10/10 game with flaws.
30 fps or less is a pretty fucking major flaw
i think nintendogs need their heads checked: they legitimately feel entitled to being held to different and less stringent standards than literally the rest of the industry.
>I play at 144fps on the pc so I know better than you.
No, you don't. If 30 FPS is just fine, then you'd never play above it. That's just wasting resources, according to you.
You are coping so hard right now lmao. Mad that I can enjoy games at 30/60/144 and none of them are objectively bad when the stability is what's really important. Its like you've never played at 120 and seen a lag spike drop your game to 35 before. You have no idea what you're talking about because you simply have no experience at every level like I do.

Another triggered little boy. Hit too close to home with a generic insult. This website is 18+.
Why should I like Zelda, especially when the game goes out of its way to force her on me? I hate her for being an uncaring stuck up bitch who's never suffered a day in her life, and I always end up cleaning up after her messes. She gets to have tea and play croquet with furries in the past, while I'm running around and fighting monsters. The worst part is that the game gives her the credit for killing both calamity ganon and draganon. Apparently she gets top billing, while I'm barely even a footnote. And she gets a happy ending while never learning a thing.
The difference is simple. In the NES days those images conveyed adventure, the sense of exploration and trying to find something which couldn't really be replicated on the NES. So we were left to wonder what is beyond those hills, around that corner, over that mountain etc. Those goofy ass sprites were giant dragons? Sure. Now in TOTK we can go everywhere and explore everything. There's just nothing worth finding other than some pants and a sword that will last five minutes.
I disagree, because ToTK had enough adventure that I was genuinely enjoying my time in it. Only Elden Ring is on a similar level for adventure. >Descending into the depths for the first time, get attacked by a nearby Frox immediately
Genuine adventure Kino
TOTK does have some great moments, like that Frox encounter. The shame is that the entire game has about 20 minutes of incredible shit, maybe a full hour. Out of about 100 hours. I wanted more actual suprize and exciting shit. Once you notice the copy pasted stuff everywhere it gets a little demoralizing to explore. A million shrines, boss rematches in the depths, chests full of zonaite charges, a million stable photo missions etc. If it was half the size and more focused it would be game of the decade. But it just feels like a really huge bland cake. I'd rather a full bespoke new content everywhere shorter game than botw again but we pasted more labyryinths about the place. I hope the next game takes all those moments and cuts down on the open world slogging and copy/paste shit and finds a nice inbetween. These last two games have been a great shake up of the formula for sure, but it feels like they're still finding their footing. And since they've admitted they're done with this direction I hope they've figured out something really interesting and curated for the next one.
>like gameplay element >it's like 1 hour out of 100 >the rest is filler
Sorry, it's just disappointing.

It's definitely a taste thing. I prefer more tight, concise games with an end-goal rather than the more wasteful design of open-world style games. I was willing to give Zelda open-world a chance since it had never been done before, but in the end, I have the same feeling playing it that I do when I play Ubisoft: mostly uninteresting slog with bits of clever design thrown in.

This. I at least had some hope the series could turn things around after SS. Even with BotW I wanted to believe in the longshot that they could actually try to just use it as a foundation, fix its problems, reintegrate the Zelda, but with TotK the series is dead to me. It's pandering to a completely different crowd that it has zero respect for, they're the new Pokemon.

Problem with all of that is that it was not only not challenging, but could be trivialized because the game gives you too many ways to cheese or break progression. You can skip the entire fire temple with a hover bike, for instance.

Minecart dungeon was an interesting maze
Bubble dungeon was a delight to explore
Spirit dungeon incorporated all different ways of using Zonai devices and the reward of a customizable golem was spectacular.
The desert dungeon was spooky and had a great boss fight
This discounts the whole adventure of unlocking and getting to these dungeons. I got into the Spirit dungeon completely by accident because I thought the thundercloud looked weird. The entire Gerudo Desert was a great adventure, both getting to Gerudo City, setting up defenses, fighting with the guards against waves of gibdos, etc.
The whole adventure was awesome.

If someone puts a puzzle in front of you, are you the type to try and complete the puzzle, no questions asked? This might be a meta-opinion of mine, but with the amount of games out there that also have puzzles (even similar puzzles), I always have to ask why I'm taking part in the puzzle. If the game cannot justify a puzzle to me, in the context of the game, I begin to look for ways to subvert the puzzle. That's how my brain works.
For the Fire Temple in particular, I skipped most of the railcart stuff with pinecones and fire arrows, and just climbing my way to the various gongs. And I was generally disappointed at how I could do that.
The two best temples, the Wind Temple and the Lightning Temple, are... okay. The Lightning Temple gets a special mention, and I might consider it "good", since it limits your movement to the inside of the temple, and introduces very Indiana Jones-ish traps that make it feel like an actual tomb.
Weakest is the Water Temple, by far; I just don't understand what it's purpose is in-context. Forgettable.
Overall, the temples (while a step up from Breath of the Wild) are huge step down in comparison to the previous entries.
Everything else in the game is a slog, and is just passing time between temples.

I did the minecart puzzles for a while until I got tired of them and subverted them by using other mechanics to get around certain segments, so I had some fiery climbs around the larger pillars to get to the final two terminals. At no point did I think "man I wish I didn't have all these options to beat this dungeon however I like".
I don't get mad about decisions I made. I don't get upset when a game lets me do something in a non-standard way and then I do it and still get a reward. I sequence broke the whole second half of the game by chasing down the Light Dragon myself to get the Master Sword and completing the Spirit Temple just because I saw a cool thunderstorm and wondered if I could fly into it.
Those are all strengths of TotK. Arbitrary point-and-click-tier puzzle gating is retarded.

This is why these games should be a new IP. I imagine the vast majority of newbies it brought in are just like you. This content sucks, it's boring, it's hard, etc. so skip it, cheese it, the game is good because you can skip and cheese all of its boring bad parts, which is most of its actual content, so you can get right back into all the walking/running around, showing off the nuts and bolts contraptions and basic immersive sim elements on tiktok.
It's totally antithetical to what Zelda used to be.

I'm personally a big fan of "soft-gating". That is, making it possible for players to go where they want to go, but making them so ineffectual in that place that they are incentivized to look elsewhere. I'm thinking Water areas in Super Metroid. Yeah, you can try and sequence break if you want to, but your experience will be super hampered until you get what you need to move freely in the water.
>Like discovering a new boss for the first time >Fight it and learn it's patterns >beat it >What do you mean I don't enjoy doing it 15 more times to grind for pieces to upgrade a shirt to make fights easier and less fun
Keep seething Anti-Eric-kun, at least BotW tried something new but TotK has proven that Nintendo really doesn't know what they are doing. From story, to gameplay, to "dungeons", to the open world itself everything is deeply flawed. If there weren't these tiny moments or quirks of a Zelda game it would be a complete redundant experience.
This concept art is dripping with SOUL—Tears is not. I know it's considered nonconformity to dislike Breath of the Tears (intentional) but I just don't like it at all. It inspires no wonder.
TotK was the first Zelda game I didn’t beat. Temples were just too damn easy without using items.
That said it sold 19 mil, and is a great kids game. That’s why it was shitty, it is the perfect game for a 12 yrold, that they will enjoy for the next half decade.
It deserves the win.
I mean yea. Nintendofags, families, and children. That is the industry.
I wish it was all Civ 6, FE 3 houses, Wasteland 3, FF16, Elden Ring too but we just aren’t there sadly. The world has casuals, family men, children, and idiots in it.

Kind of the same. I didn't get super deep into BG3 but it'd be hilarious after all the years of PC RPGs being dumbed down and distilled to hell and back for an uncompromising CRPG to break the industry's back
>2023 >still unironically caring about which game wins at the Game Awards
Seriously, the only reason why you should care about TGW is the trailers for new upcoming games.
This. It's hilarious how Ganker claims to be free thinkers, but they'll hate any game that doesn't get a 90+ metacritic score. They praise Mario and Zelda, but will endlessly hate on Pizza tower and AC6.
The only reason I’m watching The Game Awards this year is to see if this amazing little bastard shows up again. I fucking love this son of a bitch, he was based as fuck last year.
What is the competition? Nothing?
Sony/Microsoft are flops after flops and Atlus didn't release any new big game this year.
Rest is from Nintendo or service of life season pass incomplete bullshit.
Oh, it goes without saying; Pikmin 4 certainly is far more deserving of Game of the Year compared to TotK. But we're talking about whatever the majority consoomed. Game Awards is always a joke.
BG3 deserves to take it. Not because it’s an extraordinarily good game (I kinda gre to dislike it because of the forced campyness and dialogue) but because of the production quality and impact in the industry. TotK is good but it’s mostly an asset flip rehash. Starfield is just bad.
AC6 is the real GOTY but it is too niche to win.
Threads like this really make me glad that you guys are depressed losers who buy video games you don’t like and will never design video games in your life

Holy cope. BotW, Sekiro, and Elden Ring all won GOTY.
TotK is just not all that interesting. It's glorified DLC that most people have already forgotten about.
Neither Sekiro nor Elden Ring appeal to japanese sensibilities, they're japanese games in name only, both games look exactly like every other grey hyperrealisticWRPG.
BotW only won because it would have been an uproar if it hadn't, 2017 was extremely slow for everyone but Nintendo, its only serious contenders were Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2, TGA literally chose the least japanese game of the three.

I can't even begin to fathom what goes through a person's mind when making these.
That's what happens when you've bought three generations of consoles without a single video game on them.
Ghost trick and katamari were good but they're pure remakes
Remnant 2 was also fun
being a contrarian homosexual doesn't makes you look cool
who even buys zelda. it's weird series. these new games don't really appeal to kids or adults. who the hell are these people
good question.
Only an adult would say it was boring.
Why are you having a schizo rant with yourself on why nobody would like this game when it sold almost 20 million copies and has rave reviews?
>Muh sales
Either you're a Nintendo shareholder, or you're a simp.
Sales = people liked the game.
sales = marketing
No.
>when it sold almost 20 million copies and has rave reviews?
In five years it'll be utterly forgotten just like every post n64 zelda.
>In five years it'll be utterly forgotten just like every post n64 zelda
BotW is literally considered one of the best videogames of all time schizo, how's that being forgotten?
>BotW is literally considered one of the best videogames of all time
lmao
Denying reality doesn't make you right you goofball, a lot of people from actual gaming circles and a big portion of normies love BotW and kr has basically become the go to when people think of Zelda as a franchise
>people from actual gaming circles
Yea, IGN and gamespot.
>a big portion of normies
You mean nintenbabbies. Normies prefer Dad of War and FIFA.
>You mean nintenbabbies. Normies prefer Dad of War and FIFA.
Zelda is one of the most normie franchises in history, every wannabe nerd loves or pretends to love Zelda.
>this new zelda is viewed like every other forgotten zelda
Exactly.
Im trans btw xD
These new games appeal to people who liked the original game which has been present on almost every Nintendo system and therefore would've found many people of varying ages.
Stay gatekept though.
it's funny that LoZ is one of the best NES games and yet it's still a slog to play through
NES games were just terrible all around. I think there's like one good NES game-- Snake's Revenge.
Play Earthbound Beginnings.
Castlevania is great, challenging but not too long
It's funny when you compare late GBC games to most NES games and the GBC games are so much better despite similar limitations
Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Punch Out, and Duck Hunt are all fun little games
Get out.
bro super mario bros 3?
The correct answer was Contra and MULE.
it's better on GBA
Zelda 1 was a maze that was cleverly disguised as an open world.
>Zelda 1 was a maze that was cleverly disguised as an open world.
That's...all video games.
I want to play that prototype! I don't care if it doesn't live up to all my wild fantasies!
I liked the original one and didn't like BotW or TotK. I wouldn't call the first game Ubishit but I would the recent ones.
The prototype is just that.
>Nigga I am not reading all that
If you're going to say that you should leave it at that because everything you wrote after is going to be treated the same way.
These people who pine for the zelda dark ages of gamecube and wii will never stop getting btfod by newer zelda games finally being goty level again. All while being more faithful to original zelda than OoT was, as illustrated by this picture
drawn in the 90s, perfectly illustrating things you can do in totk that no other zelda has all of.
It should've been a new IP instead of commandeering a 30 year old series.
>wasn't
>Skyrim a better open world than BotW
You're done here. I love Elder Scrolls games and Skyrim was raw cancer.
>You're done here. I love Elder Scrolls games and Skyrim was raw cancer.
And I love Zelda games and BotW was raw cancer. Means nothing.
>It should've been a new IP instead of commandeering a 30 year old series.
Never would've sold otherwise.
It wouldn't have sold anywhere near as much, but it still likely would've created a successful new IP.
Fat females and effeminate males
It's an adventure game with a huge world with a physics system that's fun to mess around with and 150 mini dungeons where most of them have unique puzzles. Wow I wonder why this is popular/
>150 mini dungeons
I don't count 'Blessing' shrines.
For the blessing ones the puzzle is in reaching the shrine
>Go to Hateno
>Follow the road toward the tech lab
>Notice a cave
>Walk in
>Shrine
>"Oh neat, I wonder what interesting puzzle or combat scenario this will..
>Blessing
Alsothe combat tutorial shrines don't count either.
>fly all the way to the Zonaite forge.
>massive tower to climb
>actually challenging.
>Reach the top
>Nothing but a Korok.
>go back to the bottom, notice a ring.
>Ring turns on vents so you can instantly fly to the top, no effort needed
>door opens allowing access to the main tower
>ohboy.jpg
>A shrine.
I'm really surprised that the terminals format was reused, TOTK's dungeons all felt like they'd be much better with a "traditional" style.
yes, zelda fans are upset that the series got turned into yet another openworld slopfest
yes, the genre is the hottest shit in town, hogwarts legacy wouldnt be the best selling game this year if it was a third person shooter like the deathly hallows games
yes, the only true zelda games left to look forward to are the overhead classic zeldas
I remember when fans were begging for open world Zelda and criticizing the old formula for being outdated by SS/TP.
goddamn everyone wants their series to go open world and I have no idea why, all it does is add a large world you will actively skip over and watch a ton of loading screens
people want open world monster hunter despite the fact that open world would add absolutely nothing
What the fuck else would have been there?
>shrine bad
>korok bad
>everything bad
How is it any different from previous games?
>what's in here?
>rupies, heart piece, or (if in dungeon) key
You took a non-reward, and you replaced it with another non-reward. All you did was change the color of the glitter that comes out of the treasure chest. Would've been alleviated somewhat if you could at least use koroks and shrine rewards for more things. Why are koroks only relegated to one use?
Because then you'd bitch about having to use a korok twice. There is no possible way to satisfy you.
>UGH just a weapon?
>just rupies
>just unique armor
>just heart pieces
>just sage wills
>just shrines
>just schematics
>just materials
Or, hear me out:
>have really challenging puzzle, which is fun on its own
>have reward that can be used in multiple ways, like a much more rare rupee
I play Terraria and regularly enjoy the rewards you get when you explore, primarily because nothing is ever relegated to one use.
>>have reward that can be used in multiple ways
Armor, Zoanite, Rupies, weapins/shields, mavhine parts, blessings (which come from shrines), and materials all can be used in multiple ways
>terraria
>puzzles
I'm laffin'. Fuck off, ACfag. Go back to your movie games, like AC6.
>Armor, Zoanite, Rupies, weapins/shields, mavhine parts, blessings (which come from shrines), and materials all can be used in multiple ways
Then you don't need koroks spammed everywhere, do you? So why spam these useless rewards? By your logic, if you need 1000 pieces of poop to be scattered everywhere, then everything you listed isn't that good of a reward.
Those things are ALSO everywhere, ACfag. Koroks also have multiple uses, and if you don't like them, you don't seek them out. I know you love movie games, so maybe they offer too much gameplay for you. Plus, Terraria offers only nonrewards, by your logic.
Then you don't need koroks if you supposedly have so many rewards. So why fill the game with useless spam?
Why not?
>our game totally has hundreds of hours of amazing content
>but it also needs filler that takes no effort to find or solve
>without this filler the game falls apart and is unplayable
hmmm
>our game totally has hundreds of hours of amazing content
>but it also has filler that takes no effort to find or solve
Yes.
>without this filler the game falls apart and is unplayable
Objectively false.
>objectively false
Then you don't need the koroks, especially 1000 of them.
>2D pixelshit for autistic babies
>rewards
>What the fuck else would have been there?
>What else would have been in THE ZONAITE FORGE
I don't know anon maybe some fucking Zonaite? Or a little guy who sells you charges or cores or whatever to upgrade your battery? I wasted a bunch of items to fly to a part of the sky unreachable by regular means only to run into one korok seed and a shrine, something I literally can't take a ten second walk without encountering on the overworld. At least put a deciphering tablet or a pattern or an NPC or a fucking anything there. An interesting setpiece, a short cutscene, a moment of something slightly varied? I understand half of the overworld being the same old shit but it took an actual ounce of effort to reach the zonaite forge and it didn't even give me and fucking zonaite? Come on.
Anon one of the best pieces of armor in the game was in the Zoanite forge.
Looks fucking gay. Why do half his outfits look so fucking gay. God I hate women and homos, make your own shit, stop infecting everything else because nobody wants the shit you make.
>Tons of Zoanite weapons you can get, refresh every blood moon making it infinite
>If you aren't a retard there is a unique piece of armor hidden in the room with the shrine, reduces your battery consumption when using parts
Already 10x the rewards of a typical zelda, which is just rupees and a piece of heart.
>not knowing there is a secret hidden room there you need to stand on lava to access that has no visible clue to it's existence.
I take it all back 10/10 goty.
>massive tower to climb
>actually challenging.
Lmao listen to yourself
Pushing up on the control stick is challenging...I enjoyed Totk but don't pretend like the shrines weren't 75% disappointment like in Botw. As were the dungeons.
>Lmao listen to yourself
These towers were larger than even a full size stamina bar could climb. When I said climb I meant scale, not literally just push up on the control stick. That's why they were actually a challenge to get to the top of.
I did the same thing
climbing up the wall and then making the leap across from the wall to the tower was actually thrilling.
>150 mini dungeons
>Unique puzzles
You should have a nice day.
I played every Zelda game
I remember in June half the threads on here were about TOTK selling > 20 million
Kinda sad that tendie shills on here have to resort to argumentum ad sales and also make up sales figures
They're called gamers with taste. TotK is better than whatever online service slop you've played for 2K hours because you're a poorfag lmao
Tendies will buy literally anything if it has the Nintendo logo on it and try to convince you it's the only game worth playing, then proceed to forget about it as soon as new tendieslop drops and repeat the process over and over again since 1996
>SixYearsAfterBotWIBecameATranny.jpg
that's your audience, sadly I didn't save the image
>who likes zelda
Have you been living under a rock for 30 years? You're not even 30 years old are you? I can tell.
Nowadays, you buy video games for one maybe two cheap thrills. Totk was a creative dump that nobody finished. Nobody that Nintendo cares about.
Same people that give €60 for skins in Genshin.
MANCHILDREN
>Who buys Zelda
Like every 1 in 6 switch owners apparently.
I was one of the many who bought ToTK.
I just didnt enjoy it.
I was gifted it, twice.
I still haven't opened either copy. I hated BOTW so much, I don't have the slightest interest in TOTK.
You're a complete jackass.
Why? For not wanting the game to waste his time? Being a jackass would be shitting on the gift giver for it, don't be a baby.
Two people spent their hard earned money to give anon a great gift and he just rejected it entirely. That's a dick move, doesn't matter if the game's shit, he should still play it in appreciation of the gift giver.
You may as well just sell both copies for money if you aren't gonna open them.
Zoomers and Tendies.
Yeah I wonder that too. Especially with fucking Mario
Jim Ryan is that you?
They're people who plays actual video games instead of goyslops.
It's a forced goty for sure.
That would be BG3

Deserves it more than the glorified VN that is BG3.

hey, what games do you enjoy, bro?
Armored Core is absolutely not estus and rollslop, the actual soulsnaggers were angry that the dodges don't have iframes
Holy shit bro, ask me how I know you've never seen a vagina IRL
This. You can really tell who is a disingenuous nostalgianagger that got buck broken now.
>Starfield, Spider-Man or Diablo IV
Try to be more subtle next time.
Unironically, have no idea what you're talking about...
Gaming died in the late 00's and nothing you say can convince me otherwise.
>Armored Core
Was good, but needed more meat to it, definitely needs a sequel. Not even close to GotY material.
>Mario Wonder
Modern Nintendo platformers are baby shit made by their least competent developers
>Zelda TOTK
Gimmicky asset flip that made all the same mistakes as it's predecessor and somehow managed to leave even less of an impression. BotW was a mistake, the only hope TotK had was that it would fix shit and feel like a real Zelda again. I don't care how many kids and retards bought it, they all forgot about it the second something else came out.
>Wild Hearts
I had to look this up because I didn't even know what it was, and then I laughed when I realized it was that piece of shit MonHun clone that flopped.
>System Shock remake
Oh boy, we're celebrating remakes now?
>Pikmin 4
I don't care about Pikmin, it was probably fine, I just think they're overrated.
>Metroid Prime remaster
Remasters are even worse than remakes
>REmake 4
Took one of the best games ever and "reimagined" it as a clunky, censored, cinematic piece of shit. Worse sound design, Leon looks like a little kid in a jacket too big for him. Cut the one liners, shit cinematography, etc. I could go on and on about how shit this is as a remake, it's an insult to the original. This is like the litmus test to see if someone actually knows what they're talking about or if they're just a drooling retard who goes off hype/popularity.
>Ghost Trick
Came out years ago
>Sea of Stars
Absolute garbage that doesn't even come close to being as good as what it wants to be.
>CP Phantom Liberty
Slop DLC for a busted, boring game.
>Baldurs Gate 3
I've seen nothing but gay shit and people obsessing over ugly looking women, if you like this game you are a woman or gay. No offense.
>Pizza Tower
This one was good, but indie platformers don't exactly have a high bar to clear. The art was better than the game.
I don't know why you would even Mention shit like Starfield or Spiderman
>BotW was a mistake
NTA, I disliked BotW, but there's no way it's going to be seen as a mistake. With how gangbusters both it and TotK made it's going to be the new paradigm for Zelda going forth.
It's a mistake to anyone who likes Zelda. Nobody but suits and bootlickers care purely about how much profit a game makes.
Been playing Zelda since Link's Awakening and every game has left me wanting to explore more of the world however I want. Wind Waker blew my mind, and Breath of the Wild finally brought that grand vision to life. Iterating on that and making the huge world richer and more full only has made me happier and enjoy the games more.
This is like saying you're a fan of metroid but you hate the actual metroidvania bit and want it to be thrown out so you can freely run around on the planet doing whatever.
Sad thing is I'm sure that would make metroid far more popular. But it would piss actual metroid fans off.
IIRC Metroid Prime 3 had a bunch of backtracking in that way and it didn't go so well.
> want metroidvania to be thrown out so you can freely run around on the planet doing whatever
>loved Metroid Prime despite it doing pretty much that
Prime is nothing like that, it's nothing like BotW.
That would have made the shrines acceptable because I'll tell you, after 50, I no longer wanted to go into them and face all those animations, texts and loading screens, to do something in 45 seconds and get the same reward every time.
> find shrine, walk in
> 15 second loading screen
> skip intro text
> complete puzzle, touch ending pad
> skip text
> da da-da-da-daaa! you got a thing
> skip text
> teleported outside
Multiply this process by 170, and you have the core game loop for the game. it sucks.
Autistic children also complain if their food is not served in a particular bowl or if their zipper touches a particular part of their skin.
>complain if their food is not served in a particular bowl
My brother was always like this and he's a programmer now. Whereas I was always well behaved and submissive and just became an office wagie.
oh forgot the last
> 15 second loading screen again
leading outside.
Fucking hate shrine.
>it's insane to me that this is what they want one of their flagship franchises to be now.
It really is like Nintendo is the only dev that exists for some people. The really sad thing is Zelda just became the type of slop that even tons of indies have been creating for the past decade, but practically nobody is making Zelda type games.
It just proves that Zelda, the brand, is worth more Nintendo and its blind consumers than the original intention of the OG game design.
The "OG game design" was exhausted. Both TP and SS tried to recapture the OoT lightning and failed miserable. They were critically panned. 8.8. Nobody liked furshit zelda or waggle zelda at the time and only contrarians like them now.
>The "OG game design" was exhausted
I shouldn't have to point out why this statement is bullshit and why you're not a fan of the series, fuck off.
>They were critically panned
Even SS has a 93. No journo stands up to Nintendo.
I've been playing zelda games for decades
We are all aware of the Nintendo bonus.
>Metacritic
Literally nobody liked waggle Zelda.
You don't remember. I actively remember.
SS caught flak the same way all Zelda games catch flak, by people complaining about it online. It doesn't change that it still got suck off by journos and was not critically panned.
It was. Metacritic is drawing from bullshit.
Ocarina of Time, in my opinion, also had nothing to do with the original intention. It started a number of trends that Nintendo spent 2 decades apeing until it got stale. I feel like the portable games captured the best essence of the OG without all of the baggage of 3d Zelda
>The game doesn't look like Zelda, it doesn't play like a Zelda game.
WOAH
>Oh boy, we're celebrating remakes now?
Yes, when they're actually well made like SSR, RE2R, HGSS, Zero Mission, DQ7.
>Cut the one liners, shit cinematography, etc.
The plot and cinematography was always shit. Every single single about the original is overrated other than the precise gunplay which makes the game enjoyable to master. RE4R and RE4 are both 6/10 games.

like it's so obvious your only opinions of any of these games are 100% based on the youtubers you/your friends watch. just discuss the games you actually play instead of parroting the talking points you've heard for why something is bad, don't you find that to be a boring conversation anyways?
The traversal is not a snowy survival struggle anymore, but a sandbox for you to play with all the creation toys you get.
>death slopping
lol
>Death Stranding
>Slop
Kojima-san, execute this shitposter and fling him to the boiling toilet hellworld he belongs in.
Stranding
>>Slop
Yep, it's the height of slop. Just like most kojima trash.
>BotW revolutionized open-world games. The only other developer inventive enough to do so was Kojima with Death Stranding
God I hate walking sim enthusiasts. Just go outside. Go on a hike. You see that mountain in the real world? There's a hiking trail for it. Stop ruining video games.
Suck dicks. We both know you don't go outside. I play video games when I don't want to go hiking in my woods.
Sounds like a (you) problem.
yeah it is, yeah. yeah.
I played Elden Ring 3 times this year because there was nothin good coming out
you're too addicted to souls to realize there are plenty of other great games you fag
just play lies of p or something and stop complaining, this year has been great for games
I dont even like totk but sometimes i search about it because its interesting to see whats possible in it
so now im supposed to believe spider-man 2 flopped? come on
Now they use the "google" excuse. The reality is that there is no genuine interest in the game on the part of the players.
Lol nice trolling. I really need to get better at spotting you homosexuals though. I almost wrote a serious reply
ikr the moment I read the "google trends" homosexual excuse I realized that couldn't be a serious reply.
Forgot the pic
i have a theory that all new search results regarding Nintendo properties are 100% dictated by new releases in regards to trends and fan content.
So it makes sense that it happens here too.
There's always a "meh" year for vidya before a really good one. Next year for sure there will be a lot of good games.
Okay. Yeah I probably just don't notice the threads because zelda doesn't appeal to me
>and no one's talking about it.
yes because theyre too busy actually playing the fucking game
A lot of good games came out. Nothing gets talked about for more than a few weeks anymore. The Internet makes everything disposable because we have to discuss BRAND NEW THING instead of couple of weeks old thing. Log off and play some games.
I see Totk is trending on Twitter right now almost 6 months after release.
>it feels like it just came and went and no one's talking about it.
This place literally hasn't missed a day when it comes to daily TotK threads and the game itself still gets talk in the internet at large like trending on Twitter as recently as today, I really don't know where this "no one talks about it" narrative comes from
It’s from people who are desperate to push a narrative.
These people don't discuss videogames with any of their friends (of which they probably have very few if any) so all they know is what they see on Ganker, which they dont realize their mind just ignores threads about games they dont care for
This literally one of the best years for video games ever, the amount of contrarionism you need to mainline to have this opinion is insane.
Quarantine is over. No one is talking about games for most of the year like they did ACNH or BOTW when they came out. There's other shit to do/play now.
Anon, that’s depression. Price of being a chud. Get used to it, it only gets worse.
Hi Fi Rush, AC6, Mario Wonder, etc
Engaygie PizzaTower Baldur'sGate AC6 were the only good games this year. Totk was beyond atrocious
FF16 was probably good too but
>owning a PS5

there is no way bg3 is winning goty lmao
the prize alone would legitimate them too much and the game awards are still part of the journo/developer clique
>yeah we've give the award to the game that showed how every other dev has to try harder
>the prize alone would legitimate them too much and the game awards are still part of the journo/developer clique
Are you retarded? Big Gay 3 is a journo's wet dream.
>Drag queens
>Fags
>Brown people all over the place
>everyone in the game is ugly
It's literally journobait.
They're ultimately an elitist clique. They talk a good game but in the end it's tribe over all. They'll play a trannyslop trailer and talk about how amazing it is just to pat themselves on the back while they suck off corporate slop two handed full gawk.
And who exactly do you think influences these "GOTY" decisions, anon?
bg3 is leaps and bounds above every game that released this year.
Which isn't saying much, and Big Gay 3 itself is pretty mediocre.
>mfw both job to roboslop
Honestly as one of the oldest Zelda fans, this will be bliss for me to see BOTW aids ridden tranny homosexuals put in their place. I hope baldurs fag 3 wins.
OoTrannies such as yourself were the original cancer that ruined Zelda. Seeing you fags sob and shit yourselves over BotW #2 being released instead of OoT rehash #5 has been a hilarious few years.
I will steal this image and repost it in 32 days. You better hope it ages well.
pls do
i will join back in on the day of goty awards
I wouldn't be shocked if TotK wins, but I can't think of anything that game does better or different than BOTW to justify winning over BG3. BG3 at least was a risk, while TotK played it safe by comparison.
I would bet 2k on Zelda. I post this every thread hoping someone shows me a place to gamble.
Losing to PizzaTower*
>BG3 or zelda
how about fucking neither
This will age like shit but only because I hate these images, not because bg3 won't win.

It's pretty obvious that Nintendo holds these award shows hostage
>IF YOU DUN GIVE US THE AWARD WIRR WALK OUT AND NOT SHOW UP FOR NEXT YEAR
Doritos Pope would lose credibility if he lost a major name like Nintendo
tell me again why we care about game awards? fuck Canada
We don't
It's an insider industry pat in the back participation trophy award that they trade one another each year
YOU may not care, but its evident enough that enough posters care on this board to have active threads and discussion about it daily.
A lot of posters are shiteating morons, good to know.
BotW is the only time Nintendo ever won GotY. Why are Nintendo critics the biggest self-victimizers ever
Name 3 Nintendo games that won GotY at these shit shows.
The nuclear meltdown on Ganker after it gets GOTY will be glorious.
>caring about the goyslop awards
Why is drag shit forced everywhere.
Normies dont talk about, these are zelda autists buying the game over and over
Meanwhile bg3 is popular with normies too
>S-stop the count! F-fake numbers from people buying multiple times!!

What's up Ganker?, your shitty campaing of annoying daily seething threads and shameless shilling for all the other slop didn't work?
The fix is in.
My favorite games never get nominated for the awards. They're too videogamey and whatnot.

ac6 wont though
If you truly believe that this will get GOTY of bg3, youre delusional. I didn’t even play bg3 but that was clearly the biggest game of 2023

Uuuuuhhhhh Zeldabros, how do we spin this?
I dont care what fanbase it is usually, but the way the breath of the wild fanbase acts literally forces my hand in posting this. I'm tired of them pretending they're real zelda fans, they're fucking mentally ill and im not going to pretend they're not.
>huge_fanbase_has_trannies_in_it.jpg
Wow no shit.
You know there's tranny journalist out there writing articles defending BG3's sexual content, right? It's as if they're going to be everywhere.

black troons rarely seek validation on social media, despite there being a roughly similar or higher proportion of them in their communities.
Armored Core will win.
>b-b-b-b-but
Armored Core will win.
I have a funny feeling that Alan Wake 2 will win GOTY because how zany it is also had good graphics.
Baulder's Gate 3 will win
TotK wasn't as well remembered as BotW, Spiderman 2 is too buck broken and glitchy, lol 2D Mario ever winning goty, RE4 is just a remake
and anything before that is long forgotten, although if Hogwarts Legacy won I'd fucking laugh for years to come at the amount of hatred it would get
>Baulder's Gate 3 will win
nope. Combat is not totally garbage
doesn't matter one bit how you feel, it's a shoe in for Goty by purely not being

Right now it is only through June 30th.
i hate this game because i cannot afford to buy the console and the game, and also because i hate the canon white couple
>a pc owner can just play the game
>a ps5/xsex owner has a job and it's less than 400 bucks total for everything
lol?
One of the greatest games ever made
over/under on this actually being nominated for goty
It'll be nominated but will lose to BG3 because BG3 makes journalists sociopolitical girldicks tingle.
Possibly replace 1 of them with Starfield
Replace wonder with starfield or AC6, it's way too stacked of a year for a 2D mario to get a goty nomination
I mean whats the total estimated sales of bg3? 6 trillion?
Just give me an OOT remake or something, I don't care about Zelda anymore
>when the main story dungeons are abysmal
They aren't, you simply have shit taste.
goty 2023 is metal gear solid master collection and it's not even close
South Park namedropped Baldur's Gate, so thats the one thats going to win.
lies of p will win goty

alhamdulillah
good. I want the game awards to be a pseudo nintendo direct and the best way of making that happen is by letting them sweep every category
Nintendo high scoring games mindbroke Xbox ShitPass rent fags slop of a year.
This year's awards will be between Wonder and Totk. Everyone else is going to get maybe 1 or 2 token awards but it's going to Nintendomination.
list your nominees for the poll
Honestly, Armored Core 6 deserves it, but it won't get it. While Zelda and Hi-Fi Rush and Mario obsessed over waifushit and "epic cinematic commentary", AC6 just wanted to be a video game. Runner up goes to Pizza Tower.
>Runner up goes to Pizza Tower.
I see what you did there.
>being subtle about it
If anything this is just a charm camouflage for Geoff's disdain for Nintendo
And the Game of The Year award goes to...
WHY ESS TEN!
As much as I liked re4 remake why is it allowed to nominate a remake as GOTY? Doesn't that just set a precedent that you can just rehash an old game with new bells and whistles and have it be better than anything new and original?
It wasn’t that good, I wouldn’t be concerned. If it was that good, it earned it.
for the same reason Among us got nominated when it got popular despite being 2 years old by then
BG3 will win every award it's nominated in and there is nothing you can do about it
Why?
Because
N-no it won't erictranny, st-stop trying
Nope. Blackrockman 2 will take some as well.
>1.3 billion dollars
goddamn that's a successful game
Wonder was better.
Pikmin 4 was better.
Haven't played AC6 but I'm pretty sure it's the better game.
TotK simply sucks.
I enjoyed Wonder, Pikmin 4, ACVI, AND TotK. You hate TotK because it's popular.
i cant wait till it loses and all the zelda fans here cope
It'll win because critics hate playing anything new.
>botw repackaged
>30 fps or less
great standards, gaming industry
>30 FPS is bad
Bloodborne was good, therefore you are wrong.
The difference is that Bloodborne had something to offer and it still wasn't half as wanked off as ToTK was.
TotK has as much to offer as BB, and I've completed BB three times.
You're a funny guy.
Thanks, the truth can be a real laugh sometimes.
>bb not one of the most wanted games on here
It's literally all snoy has to taunt pc players with. 10 years of posting bloodborne with a golden glow on a pedestal that says "not for pc players" and you think the game isn't wanked. Get your life straight dude.
Didn't play anything this year so it doesn't matter to me.
10/10s (let alone "goty"s) go out to flawless games
not games with 30 fps in 2023
There are more good games set at 30fps than at 60.
Can Zelda cultists only do whataboutism and cope?
Cope is pretending that flawless games exist but being too scared to name one because you know what's going to happen
I've never seen a games technicals praised as much as the entire world praised totk.
the only ones praising totk are astroturfing nintendo cultists whose baseline for what constitutes a good game in 2023 is a mario game from the 90s and anything better than that is a 10/10 masterpiece
Grade A cope right here. Now he wants to pretend nobody likes mario games too. Care to tell us how spiderman is a nobody as well?
Of course people like Nintenslop games. All the cultists who will throw a massive babybitch tantrum if their 2004-tier games didn't get preferential treatment.
Taken a break from your spiderman game mr. Mature?
Taken a break from worshiping your newest rehashed, repackaged Nintendo turd?
Go back to mashing your dolls together
>THEYRE NOT DOLLS THEYRE ACTION FIGURES MOM
>incoherent schizobabble
Least mindbroken Nintendo cultist.
>NOOOO THEYRE NOT DOLLS MOM YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND
Clean your room and do your homework kid.
You're retarded. There is no such thing as a flawless game and there is no such thing as a flawless score. 10/10 has never meant flawless. Tetris is a 10/10 game with flaws.
30 fps or less is a pretty fucking major flaw
i think nintendogs need their heads checked: they legitimately feel entitled to being held to different and less stringent standards than literally the rest of the industry.
>less than 30 fps
Annoying, not gamebreaking since I enjoyed bloodborne just fine
>30 fps
Not even noticeable
I play at 144fps on the pc so I know better than you. This shit is not a big deal if your game is stable.
>You are coping so hard right now lmao. Mad that I can enjoy games at 30/60/144 and none of them are objectively bad
Anon, you JUST said, and I quote, "the human eye can't see above 30 FPS anyway". So spending resources above that is waste, by your own logic.
>and I quote!
>doesn't quote
Cope
>You are SO mad that my standards are dogshit and I eat literal repackaged slop.
Nah. I just pity you.
Stop multi replying to me you're making a fool of yourself. This is how mad you are.
>You are mad you are mad you are mad you are so mad see how mad you are
>He shakily repeats like a mantra behind a veil of his own tears.
Look at all that crying he's gonna greenbelt himself into a coma
>I have no standards and you shouldn't either.
Sad.
Here's to six more years of seething
It's just too bad God of war was last year so we were robbed of seeing zelda win goty over it again.
>posted the same day BG3 came out
What did they mean by this
Cope shitters your game just sucks and doesn't have something unique in its genre like totk does.
I disagree.
I agree
Can i bitchslap zelda for being an annoying NPC who never shuts up? That's a really important freedom for me, and AC6+ terraria let me do it.
It's hard to feel freedom in a game where I'm a slave to the story.
The fuck are you talking about zelda has 10 lines in 100 hours.
And that's 10 lines too many. She deserves an angry slap across the face for being useless and once again making me clean up her mess.
Incel moment
>actually using the term "incel" without a hint of irony
>actually Mad
Calm down nerd
Why should I like Zelda, especially when the game goes out of its way to force her on me? I hate her for being an uncaring stuck up bitch who's never suffered a day in her life, and I always end up cleaning up after her messes. She gets to have tea and play croquet with furries in the past, while I'm running around and fighting monsters. The worst part is that the game gives her the credit for killing both calamity ganon and draganon. Apparently she gets top billing, while I'm barely even a footnote. And she gets a happy ending while never learning a thing.
Calm down nerd she won't fuck you
>unironically using Incel because someone doesn't like your shitty character
Nintendofag moment.
Another triggered little boy. Hit too close to home with a generic insult. This website is 18+.
The average Nintendo slopgulper, everyone. No wonder
exists.
You're mad you got called an incel and now you won't shut up about it lmao
You are talking to a schizo
I also disagree.
I somewhat agree
Heavily disagree
>Post an image of when Zelda was good and had soul while talking about totk
>NOOO YOU CANT JUST MAKE A GAME BASED ON THE GOOD ZELDAS
Wind waker moment
The difference is simple. In the NES days those images conveyed adventure, the sense of exploration and trying to find something which couldn't really be replicated on the NES. So we were left to wonder what is beyond those hills, around that corner, over that mountain etc. Those goofy ass sprites were giant dragons? Sure. Now in TOTK we can go everywhere and explore everything. There's just nothing worth finding other than some pants and a sword that will last five minutes.
I agree
I disagree
>Like a gameplay element
>Option to do more of it
>Seethe
I don't understand this. Aren't you just making yourself upset?
>like gameplay element
>it's like 1 hour out of 100
>the rest is filler
Sorry, it's just disappointing.
>Played 100 hours of optional content you didn't enjoy
What the fuck dude.
it's called Dumpster-Diving anon. trying to find the diamond in a sea of uninteresting, boring garbage.
I dunno man this is sounding more and more like a You Problem. I had a 200 hour run of TotK and enjoyed all of it because I liked the actual mechanics of the game.
It has some serious fun gameplay but you can’t look me in the eye and say 50% of those temples were fun. Embarrassingly bad.
>Low-gravity bubble puzzles
>Flying sky ship platforming
>Minecart dungeon inside a volcano after building your own goron-powered bomber
>Rebuilding the Spirit construct and doing rockem sockem fights
>Exploring Hyrule Castle for secrets and the 5-Phantom Ganon fight
>Desert puzzle temple with zombies
idk dude I had a blast.
>Tons of other minidungeons hidden within caves like the buried desert prison, the minecart shooting gallery, and the pirate cove
>Three multi-tier labyrinths
idk dude I had a great time.
>fucked up the post
>going to leave it anyway.
Problem with all of that is that it was not only not challenging, but could be trivialized because the game gives you too many ways to cheese or break progression. You can skip the entire fire temple with a hover bike, for instance.
>You have the freedom to break the game with enough knowledge of the mechanics.
And that's a good thing.
>Morrowind lets you kill NPCs, including plot crucial ones
>TOTK doesn't even let you backhand Zelda
:big think:
Morrowind gives you actual freedom, which is what made it good. Its only problem is how old it is. NuZelda is far more dumbed down in comparison relative to how much modern it is.
Morrowind and TotK give you approximately the same narrative freedom. In neither game does anything you do change the ending or make the final boss any better.
That's great you had fun, but can you honestly look back at them critically and say "oh that was good because x or y"?
Yes.
well, please explain your reasoning, I'm curious to know why you think the things you listed make for an interesting dungeon, or dungeon(s)
>Just become a delivery man in a post-apocalyptic evolutionary disaster re-networking the United States
How about I fuck your mom again instead
Agreed, this should be judged on its own merits and not as a Zelda game... because it's not a Zelda game, despite it's title and aesthetic.
>Like discovering a new boss for the first time
>Fight it and learn it's patterns
>beat it
>What do you mean I don't enjoy doing it 15 more times to grind for pieces to upgrade a shirt to make fights easier and less fun
Yeah anon, really boggles the noggin.
>Anti-Eric-kun
First time I heard that name used for this parasite
counterpoint
That was Breath of the Wild. BotW made the world, TotK began filling it and expanding on it.
It did a sodding poor job of it then.
The little details of this picture make me chuckle
Totk on the left. Botw on the right.
Totk in every single one.
This concept art is dripping with SOUL—Tears is not. I know it's considered nonconformity to dislike Breath of the Tears (intentional) but I just don't like it at all. It inspires no wonder.
The Majora's Mask decompilation + 2 Ship 2 Harkinian port have me way more excited than Tears of the Kingdom ever got me.
pokemon scarlet and violet sold over 22 million. just give it the trophy already
Post your fit when Zelda wins GOTY and Ganker seethes
It's so easy to work Nintendo cultists up into a hyper-defensive frenzy. They'll have to cradle their bought for and astroturfed awards to cope.
TotK was the first Zelda game I didn’t beat. Temples were just too damn easy without using items.
That said it sold 19 mil, and is a great kids game. That’s why it was shitty, it is the perfect game for a 12 yrold, that they will enjoy for the next half decade.
It deserves the win.
>it is the perfect game for a 12 yrold
so 90% of nintendo fans? in terms of mental capacity
I mean yea. Nintendofags, families, and children. That is the industry.
I wish it was all Civ 6, FE 3 houses, Wasteland 3, FF16, Elden Ring too but we just aren’t there sadly. The world has casuals, family men, children, and idiots in it.
Families and children are one thing, but the average Nintendofag is a manchild.
A kid who plays Nintendo is just 5 to 13 years away from being a manchild.
Just say NO to Nintendo.
Why does this game still only 20 fps on ryujinx?
Is it my settings? Docked/handheld? Or should I use Yuzu ;_;
https://www.reddit.com/user/Maxlastbreath/comments/148o725/tears_of_the_kingdom_yuzu_setup_guide_60_fps_up/
I wouldn't bother with ryujinx
yuzu/ryujinx are shit emulators and the only way you can run totk at 60 fps is with a high end modern cpu and graphics card
18 millions of retards impressive
Reminder that Tears of the Kingdom is just Banzo Kazooie Nuts n Bolts, but with a splash of Zelda paint on it

Damn I never know there are so many schizos in Ganker
Snoys have been mindbroken shitposters since literally the PS3 nogaems era and they've found some counterparts among Nintendo's massive fanbase.
It's GOTY and anyone who disagrees is either a zoomer or coping
I am coping about what of a letdown it was. Got 1/3rd through and put it down.
Took out the fun camp and replaced it with chainsaw blocking knives.
>fun camp
It was stupid and poorly written. There's no excuse for it in 2023. Take your nostalgia goggles off. Story is light years ahead of original
Lariantroons seethe will be delicious when BG3 loses GOTY.
If sales were everything, then Hogwarts Legacy woud be 5x more deserving of a nomination than Spiderman 2.
I want Baldur's Gate 3 to win because I want to see a turn-based tactical CRPG win in the year of our lord 2023
Kind of the same. I didn't get super deep into BG3 but it'd be hilarious after all the years of PC RPGs being dumbed down and distilled to hell and back for an uncompromising CRPG to break the industry's back
It deserves to win.
>that framerate
Literal nonissue.
disagree
Excuse me but the GotY is clearly Starfie-
Zelda always gets the hype
Starfield shouldn't be anywhere near GOTY, it's a nightmare. It's like the perfect example of what stagnation is doing to the industry.
>18.5 million copies sold
>zero cultural impact
The Avatar of video games.
Zelda is probably the most influential franchise in the history of gaming lol.
That would only be true if BOTW wasn't influential.
>implying I give a shit about anything Nintendo puts out other than Zelda
The only thing Zelda influenced is cuck porn.
>2023
>still unironically caring about which game wins at the Game Awards
Rest is from Nintendo or service of life season pass incomplete bullshit.
>games that would be acceptable to win GOTY
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Armored Core VI
Street Fighter VI
Final Fantasy XVI
Alan Wake 2
>games that are more likely to win GOTY despite being overrated shit
Tears of the Kingdom
Baldur’s Gate 3
Starfield
Spider-Man 2
Diablo 4
>FFXVI
what a fag lmao
Hi Barry.
Oh, it goes without saying; Pikmin 4 certainly is far more deserving of Game of the Year compared to TotK. But we're talking about whatever the majority consoomed. Game Awards is always a joke.
LOL Mario Wonder is not winning GotY, not in a million years, you guys are high as fuck
Sounds like a coping mechanism.
the only fun game that released this year that wasn't a overpriced DLC or fucked on launch was Armored Core 6
AC6 is the GOAT
Threads like this really make me glad that you guys are depressed losers who buy video games you don’t like and will never design video games in your life
some of you are even worse than journos
I browse /agdg/
>you will never get master mode with more changes and a trial of the sword equivalent with the new mechanics / environmental hazards stretched to their limits.
Its a bad feel
WELL DONE ZELDA, WELL DONE ZELDA.
HOWEVER
at the very least it deserves best soundtrack, nishiki was in top form.
Yeah Octopath Traveler II was a phenomenal game. Not game of the year for me but definitely mogs TotK
i enjoyed it, got over 100 hours on it before i finished it. i didn't pay anything because fuck nintendo business practices
And nobody is playing it anymore. Seriously what a fucking ripoff.
200 hours was enough for me. Even though TotK is a 9.7/10 I probably will never play it again because it feels like I exhausted it on the first run.
I did the same thing with The Witcher 3.
>200 hrs to explore AGAIN Hyrule, an empty underground and even more empty sky iskands
You're an insane person.
The gameplay, you know the part where you play the game and do things in the game, is a lot of fun, and you can endlessly Hispanice it up with your own creativity.
I'm sorry if that doesn't appeal to you. May I suggest you go watch some Ms. Rachel or Jangling Keys Compilation to keep your attention?
i never got the "same hyrule" points, firstly, the map has changed quite a bit so it's not really the same anyways, but secondly, how the fuck do you even remember more than like 20-30 spots in that game anyways? the world was so massive i didn't remember 90% of the map and im not really sure still if its because its just been long since i played BOTW or more of it was changed then i realized
When can we start meming the 70$ mw3 dlc with the totk dlc comparison?
Shitza Tower is so offensively ugly that anyone who enjoys it ought to be culled
They better do it, fuck Spider-Xem, fuck Bear Sex: The Game
I bought it at 70 USD day one and haven't even played it yet. I'm waiting for Winter. That's what it means to be a Patrician.
Nah it's gonna be BG3.
>Shitty woke beastiality-promoting, roastie-glorifying westoid astroturf
Of course it's gonna win the Woke Anti-Japan Awards.
Botws main contender was God of war.
Yes, which incidentally beat Xenoblade 3 for best soundtrack last year with its shitty generic hollywood ost.
Preemptive coping. At least you're not setting yourself up for disappointment.
sold that much and nobody talks about it anymore, curious
>goty time coming soon
>zelda hate threads ramping up
Lol they're afraid.
kys arthur
thread is dead, autosage in effect.
See you in the next one.
And then BG3 happened.
