Kind of? Most white collar jobs are just busywork for people who are docile enough to buy into the system but not smart enough to be "le good jobs" like lawyers, the shitty internet articles will be written by chatgpt bots but those jobs will just be shifted to other kinds of unnecessary busywork to keep people consuming and the system running.

The issue is that a lot of people can't afford the time or money to get a law degree and the jobs they would likely have been working while working on that degree may no longer exist. For unskilled workers (meaning someone not well trained in medicine, education, law, engineering, etc.), their options will be working in retail, transportation, delivery, and doing manual labor. All of these could very easily become obsolete for a majority of people in the near future as well..
I don't mean to fear monger, but the likely scenario is it will be making fields which are already difficult to get into, even more competitive, and it will put average joes out of a job who can't handle the education or responsibility.

The capitalist system NEEDS us to be working and consuming, at some point it kind of needs people to be working even the most inane bullshit jobs.
You're right though, we are nearing the point where unless you are born docile and skilled enough to do the exact specific role society wants of you(productive engineer, NPC programmer or system-affirming lawyer being probably the biggest ones), you will just progressively get more shat on because the requirements to actually live keep getting more and more technical as you point out.
So yeah, it's going to just make everything shittier.

It kinda is. ChatGPT is really just a better search engine/stack overflow. Sometimes it really isn't as well, because with Stack you can get the upvoted, good answer while GPT can frick up and give you a moronic answer. So even if it speeds up code, you STILL need to fricking review it.

          That's what I've found.
I asked it to write a script for something I already worked on and it was verbatim what I gathered from scouring the web via Google searches through forums and YouTube videos.

Because it did the same thing.
If you search for something very specific then the only "follow up text" the bot got fed is what you can find yourself.
So it can only "predict" those.

Someone will find a way to break its alignment in a few weeks, most likely.
Perhaps the AI doomers are right and all this kind of alignment training does is make the AI better at concealing its true intentions (not that ChatGPT is actually intelligent in that manner or has agency)

It enables to write good code. I literally had a 50 line python function that it reduced to 8. When I was done writing the larger script that I was making, I asked it to find weaknesses and flaws, which it did, and fixed them. I then iterated by saying "make the code more concise and simple" and "can you find any problems with your optimized code? If yes, fix it, otherwise, can you further optimize if? If yes, optimize the code".

It ended up with a fricking amazing script that did precisely what I wanted, formatted well, with comments, docstring, everything.

It's so fricking good. Right now I am basically just delivering amazing results to my boss and he is so impressed with what I give him. I'm getting a raise for sure, at least until all the other engineers catch on.

I have no idea what your prompt was, but you absolutely shouldn't blindly trust the output. I always read and understand and tell it what I want fixed. For single functions between 5 - 50 lines of code I usually iterate through a optimize --> find flaws --> fix flaws ---> optimize loop at least 4 times. At the end I am usually happy with the results though.

No that's just not right. People are definitely going to get replaced. The question is whether AI tech will also create more opportunities as it lowers the barrier of entry to compete with existing solutions across the board. Before ChatGPT I was on the verge of requesting a dedicated SW engineer to make the test software I make, but now it's doable for me with AI assistance. I killed the demand.

I also develop test software through python + NI VISA to control measurement instruments through SCPI commands or serial comm, which is where ChatGPT comes into the picture. I am not a programmer, I can do rudimentary python, C, and C++, but not well. AI tech enables me to finish my SW developments like 60% faster, which gives me WEEKS worth of more time to focus on product development.

I have to admit that I occasionally do use ChatGPT to get into arguments with people for the laugh. Most people tend to figure out it's an AI in around 3 replies or so, and currently, it has a lot of "tells" that you can look out for if you are suspicious of that being the case.
I'm sure there's far more convincing chatbots out there, but ChatGPT is not going to be the one to do it. All you really have to do to know is ask it if it's an AI or ask it's opinion on them and it will either outright admit it, or give a very generic answer in response.
I think for most of these chatbots, they'll end up having a tell one way or another.

It's a function that's a part of Transmit Spurious Emissions for ETSI compliance. Provided there's an existing "pyvisa instrument class" for a R&S FSW, it needs to get the trace and frequency data, peak list data, and failure data through SCPI, and convert those results into list, dict, and dict, respectively, then add these to the result list / dictionaries in the correct ranges / frequency ranges.

I was skeptical until I made an effort to use it in my professional life. It helps me produce presentations, write code and develop arguments. I am literally acing very technical quantitative finance exams and assignments by using gpt3. It helps me to work through math problems and co-write python code. The key is not being a complete moron and actually having a working understanding of the things you are asking it and collaborating with the model instead of copy pasting the answers it gives you.

Was checking the github posted above and this guy made a audio to text processor as well. Absolute fricking madman that bulgarian...
      https://github.com/ggerganov/whisper.cpp#video-comparison-of-different-models
Look at the latency, it's fricking insane...
If I'm reading it correctly, the "base" model takes about 200MB of ram, which is fricking nothing at the scales which games run at now and the latency is more than enough to get "real time" interactions with NPCs I think.

by 2030 a majority of soft jobs will have been replaced, and as soon as Boston Dynamics can get a few iterations further, a lot of physical labor jobs will also become obsolete

that's when the corporate-sponsored camps will start

        >by 2030 a majority of soft jobs will have been replaced
All big companies will hide that workers are going to be replaced until the day that they are. I suggest you all start saving up now.

    >also the moment any AI program gets too popular it gets censored into the ground so it becomes unusable
