Mundus is a better villain. Trish is a better side character. Virgil is cooler as a silent death knight that has all your same moves. It's a simple revenge story but it works.
That's not really it - the point of the game is you're meant to stay in Devil Trigger as much as possible, unlike the other games DMC1 really does reward efficiency over style.
It does have the best enemies and DMD mode in the whole series. The creepy ambiance is also great; it makes the game feel like a memorable adventure.
The other games are just wannabe fighting games, but they all lack well-designed enemies, so the combat ends up being extremely boring.
Empusas are useless both as an actual enemy and as a punching bag since they have too little hp.
Same goes for the green ones.
Lusachias are Baphomets 2.0 except you need to stun them, would prefer if they had made a single enemy out of these two.
Scudos are fine but I never understood why they float in air for a brief moment, makes them seem unfinished.
>Lusachias are Baphomets 2.0 except you need to stun them
Yeah, because they have constant shields and teleport out of combos, and their attacks are much more annoying to dealt with, i.e. they're nothing like Baphomets.
>best enemies >launch a lowtier enemy in dmc 1 and juggle it with gun fire while gaining absurd style boost >i coooooom >launch a lowtier enemy in future games and juggle it with sword/guns >baad
Do 1gays really
Bullshit, marionettes are complete fodder, and every other enemy in DMC1 has been in the other games in some shape or form except the shittiest ones like Sargasso and Beelzebub.
>every other enemy in DMC1 has been in the other games in some shape or form
So are you telling me that they just copied them? That just makes me think Itsuno is a hack, not that DMC1's enemies are bad.
>every other enemy in DMC1 has been in the other games
Wow, I wonder why they only bring back DMC1 enemies and not iconic enemies from 3 and 4 like the fallen or the chimeras?
5 has enemies from all the series. Even the bats and goats are references to DMC2 enemies and a bunch are lifted straight from DmC.

Baphomets are based on Witches. Hell Antenora are based on the Ravagers. The Riot family is based on Rages. The Empusas are based on the Stygians. The Scudo Angelos are based on the Knights. Most enemies have parries just like in the reboot too.

>Hell Antenora are based on the Ravagers.
Antenora's retaliation state is not random unlike Ravager's and is closer to Abyss from 3. >The Riot family is based on Rages.
The only thing these 3 have in common is a roll move. >The Scudo Angelos are based on the Knights
Angelos were already in 4. Also 5 angelos retain squad formation from 4 unlike reboot knights

>Antenora's retaliation state is not random unlike Ravager's
Sure, but they're both highly weak to juggles and can be parried out of it.
>The only thing these 3 have in common is a roll move.
And the fact Rages and Chaoses have spikes on their backs. And their quick swipes. And there being a version of them that's red and becomes intangible. Obviously they're also partly based on the other lizard enemies but the influence is obvious.
>Angelos were already in 4.
Sure, but the Scudos are entirely ground based and even the effect for their shield breaking is the same as the Knights. They're even eyeless like many of the DmC enemies. And the Protos also have parriable charges like many of the DmC enemies too.

Iirc you can't parry Ravager's charge in berserk states >spikes
Which they never use as projectile unlike Rage. If anything Chaos is like Mega Scarecrow with a bit of a Shadow >and even the effect for their shield breaking is the same as the Knights.
Huh. What do you mean

Well, they do have a projectile.
>Chaos is like Mega Scarecrow
Sure.
>a bit of a Shadow
Hmm? How?
>What do you mean
Just the visual cue of their shields having cracks on them, which the Angelos didn't have.

>Hmm? How?
Spikes acting as "cloak/shield" >which the Angelos didn't have
Ackshually they did. Not the cracks exactly but 4Angelo shields changed colour from blue to orange depending on their durability.
If you launch them in the air and do a knockback attack that hits their back they'll start falling down but will freeze for a moment before hitting the ground, looks really weird.

1 had the best story but 3 was just more fun to play (except for some of the backtracking).
>1 had the best story
How the frick?
Mundus is a better villain. Trish is a better side character. Virgil is cooler as a silent death knight that has all your same moves. It's a simple revenge story but it works.
I didn't understand why people make fun of Dante's voice cracking when he cried. Your voice cracks when you cry.
I think it's a mixture of the camera movement and blur, with "light" repeating.
the line is terrible and it didn't make much sense for him to get all sad and cry over her death
>it didn't make much sense for him to get all sad and cry over her death
Dunno, he kinda is reliving his mother dying. Pretty fricked up.
Being a cynical purist is the opposite of growing up
Honestly from a recent first timer its great but 3 and 5 are just so much more enjoyable even if the Itsuno games feel like a different series
i played this game not knowing i was supposed to combo a basic grunt enemy for 10 minutes. should i replay it?
That's not really it - the point of the game is you're meant to stay in Devil Trigger as much as possible, unlike the other games DMC1 really does reward efficiency over style.

5 has the best enemies in the series.
Nah there are maybe 3-4 good enemies.
Nope, they're all good.
Empusas are useless both as an actual enemy and as a punching bag since they have too little hp.
Same goes for the green ones.

In a vacuum maybe, but they can't deal with the characters in 5.

The only difference is that DMC1 enemies actually try to defend themselves; they don't stand there and wait for you to attack them.
And they can all be destroyed and rendered into jokes with the right strategy.
>try to defend themselves
>marionettes and fetishes can't do shit against a single high time
Why are you lying
Bullshit, marionettes are complete fodder, and every other enemy in DMC1 has been in the other games in some shape or form except the shittiest ones like Sargasso and Beelzebub.

They're sequels, genius.

I never said they were, only that the bad ones were left behind.
>every other enemy in DMC1 has been in the other games
Wow, I wonder why they only bring back DMC1 enemies and not iconic enemies from 3 and 4 like the fallen or the chimeras?

They are already a buffed version of sins/deaths from 1.

They should bring back Arachnes and Abyss tbh

Yeah, PS2 version is still the best
really crazy this would have been resident evil with a few different decisions. i see it.
