Not really. I don't expect people to play it. A colleague just made this gif with Ludii and I thought reverse-engineering the rules might be a fun exercise.

From the looks of it, it kind of seems like it uses a push rule, where the goal is to capture opponents using a shove rule, 3 black pushes 2 white off the board, and takes the average position white used to hold.

      No pushing is done

Is it a territory collapse then?

Actually, better question, for Black's third move, the first time we see pieces be removed. Is a piece placed that results in the capture, or is the interaction a separate option one does on their turn?

Each player takes turns to either place a piece on the board or move one of their existing pieces in a straight line to a square already occupies by one of the opponents piece, and it is removed from the board.
When a piece is removed, all adjacent pieces belonging to that player are removed.
The winner is the player that wins the game.

Okay but what ensures the game ends?

The game ends when the winner has been determined.

And when is that? The winner is the player who cannot move btw.

            >When is that?
When one player can't move any more.
            Hope this helps!

What rules would cause that to happen by necessity, instead of the game having an endless progression of moves?

The other players may take no further moves after one or more players have won the game.

    >put pieces on a board turn by turn
    >you may also use your turn to move a piece you already placed to capture an enemy piece nearby
    >if you capture an enemy piece, all enemy pieces next to that piece (except diagonally) get captured aswell
    Anything I am missing?

Oh my mistake, you can choose to capture a piece before then also placing a new piece.
I guess the game has a turn limit, and the winner is the one who has the most board coverage and or the most captured pieces?

a simple way would be to give each player a limited number of pieces and state that if they cannot make a move that would either place a new piece or capture an existing piece, the game ends and whoever captured more pieces is the winner. Captured pieces cannot re-enter play

I mean, as long as you have a piece on the board, you can almost always capture another piece (unless you can't wait out a turn, leading to Zugzwang). In any case, that rule would be kind of messy, a more elegant ruling would be that the game is over once both players have set all their pieces they originally had.

So far you are closest but you are missing the obvious: why the game must terminate. No there is no limited pool of pieces, that is entirely unnecessary.
