It has a superior Mercs, I have to say that. RE4's Mercs is just trying to kill as many as fast as possible for points. RE5's Mercs is all about taking advantage of group stuns and melee attacks to build more time so you can keep killing in an effort to wipe out every enemy on the map. Plus it has far more load-out choices and places to fight, and No Mercy is just that much better.

The change to the defense systems is one of the biggest insults. Whipping out your knife and clutch slashing shit away is not just a fun game-play mechanic its crucial to Leons character development.
As you played the game for the first time you rarely if ever used the knife outside of opening boxes but slowly its power is revealed and by the time you get to Krauser and have an actual knife fight you have most likely realized the knife is a key part of your combat rotation.
You master it as Leon gets back into the rhythm from what he learned from his time with Krauser.
Subtle and Eloquent.
In contrast the new remaster has what from what i've seen essentially auto blocking that costs knife durability, and if you go by the cinematic in the original Krauser/Leon have very nice custom knives clearly given to them when they where on a team while the remaster just has it break and you find a new one, zero connection to the item itself and its importance to the story. Mission objective structure seems to imply you temporarily play as Ada for a short period around 60% of the way through the game.
