Fat people. Even the person that made that image knew it subconsciously by making the fat frick on the left and the skinny fat on the right compared to all slim on the left.
Because there is literally zero content in this game and anything you'd want to grind for (cosmetics/mounts) are all on the gemstore so it's either pay $$$ to get what you want or just log off.
The game has been in maintenence mode since launch.
Okay what content did End of Dragons even add? Last I checked there still isn't a new fractal since a year ago, Super Adventure Box still hasn't been completed for 7 years and is still not permanent, the story is even worse than ever and went full woke, and all the new elite specializations have zero new content to even do them with.
The only "content" is skins which are all on the fricking gemstore. There is nothing to do in this game, nothing to strive for without opening your wallet. A better question is how has this game survived the past 10 years in this state.
>and anything you'd want to grind for (cosmetics/mounts) are all on the gemstore so it's either pay $$$ to get what you want or just log off.
this right here
this is quite possibly worse than all the troony shit, lore raping, etc etc. Any game that does this is automatically gay and it's probably one of the main reasons I quit. Just makes everything feel pointless

they made the mistake of making a fun MMO with no subcost but literally no repeatable content at launch. me and my friends did each dungeon and all the explorable modes at launch but since bis gear came from karma or that one citadel of flames path nobody bothered to do them again. eventually fractals was fun but as with all repeatable content in an MMO its speedran and boring after the first day. since it isnt made in japan nobody cares about its generic story that's just stretched over years so it died.
HAHAHHA DUDE! There's literally an npc who uses mesmer illusion magic to make himself into a chick after it got destroyed and that he had to live his life truly as he is in LA.
the ice dragon also the same story that changed the dragons to be genocidal bad guy dude mans also made sure to let you know that misgendering a genocidal dragon is heckin NOT OK
It's not story-focused, though. You can actually totally skip the story in GW2 after a five minute tutorial. Only thing that matters is you get to lvl 80, how you get there doesn't matter and everything shits experience at you.
Decade-old game in a dead genre. Don't know what else you expected.
Any currently-active MMO which isn't WoW or XIV has long since had its playerbase calcified into a small-but-dedicated minority of diehards and whales, leaving the majority of conversation surrounding them to be spoken by either lapsed veterans, or people who haven't played the title in years (if ever) but continue to shitpost as if they have.
The fact that GW2 somehow isn't on the tail-end of NCSOFT's quarterly earnings reports is surprising in and of itself, considering how tumultuous its development has been over the years.
It's currently sitting in third place among the publisher's PC-focused MMOs, in terms of recent overall quarterly earnings. Aion and Lineage still rake-in notably more money than it, with the woefully mishandled Blade&Soul residing in fourth place. Mobile titles published under NCSOFT's banner make leaps and bounds more money than PC ones, but that's sadly to be expected.
/gw2g/ died because some schizo from FFXIV's general created a bot that literally spammed it with nonsense to the point where it permanently killed attempts at making one. Guild Wars 2 is very much alive. Pic related made more money than Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire combined and somehow grew the game during it's "dead period" leading up to End of Dragons' release.
Kek, was it really some giga-autist from /xivg/ who caused The Searing on old /gw2g/?
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, mind you, there are few generals more infamous than what XIV is saddled with. /pso2g/ and ye olde /TERAg/ come close, however.
Wasn't even playing the game at the time, and I felt bad for the Anon using the GW2 general as their main hangout spot. Doubt any of them remotely deserved what transpired.
Cool to see /gw2g/ is technically still going, but you can sorta tell it's a general lost to time. Real shame, was probably a nice place prior to it becoming uninhabitable for literal years, thanks to a single schizo and their bot army.
there's still a decent sized korean aion fanbase
also aion classic came out last year and somehow retail aion is still alive in the west with a few hundred players
pozzed woke shit shoving same-sex relationships in your face, killing off all their cool characters and the system inconveniencing you at every turn to make you pay
This. I don't even know what the story was because all I did was sPvP. Then they redid how all the builds worked so I just quit instead of relearning it
Absolutely butchered the 10th anniversary by launching on Steam for $100 and skipping the normal anniversary gem store sales. Even the Black Friday sale is garbage. It seems like they actually don't want to be successful.
nah. people just like to be mazed and run on treadmills to forget their pathetic lives. gw2's horizontal progression can't offer sufficient rewards for the average rat and it's that simple. it does virtually everything better than its competitors.
Maybe they should make the group finder not completely worthless so people use. Game always looks dead with no groups. There wasn't even a single dungeon group formed using that piece of shit even after the steam launch
Okay, but the group finder for fractals and all content is also dead, and dungeons are part of the story and still no one did them when there were thousands of new players playing.
>we're going to release an MMO with no gear grind but also no content updates it's going to be great 🙂
also every 2-3 years of maintenance mode they just threw creative direction at someone new who tries one thing randomly and then it's never touched again and its back to maintenance mode until they want to sell you a new expansion and then the cycle repeats. the game is fricking schizophrenic.
>implying vertical progression is good
Creates an entirely different set of problems where content is abandoned and left to die because the "numbers aren't high enough". Frick that shit. BTW GW2 is either #4/#5 most popular MMO on the market with another two expansions on the horizon. Cope.
Vertical progression is objectively better than horizontal progression when it comes to MMOs. There's a reason why 99% of MMOs throughout the last ~25 years have had vertical progression.
That's not a metric of anything given that you're talking about a literal graveyard of failed WoW clones because apparently the dumbasses funding these games would rather risk absolute failure over a sustainable niche.

I am talking about every MMO in existence, ever. Even the most successful ones. Meanwhile I can't even think of just 3 halfway decent MMOs with horizontal progression.

Champion points and elite specs don't really "add power" in the sense that a WoW expansion doubling your damage values does. It's about diversifying your playstyle.

Reading this, I assuming that ESO must have done some massive rework at some point then, because the difference in DPS between 0 CP and high CP was like double.

Alright, I wasn't aware that happened, so I'll have to concede and say that ESO counts as a valid horizontal progression MMO then.
>Almost every vertical progression MMO failed >Almost every horizontal progression MMO succeeded and is still operating today with an active playerbase
Almonds activated.
troony devs
thats literally it, the game went into a freefall of quality shortly after the game released
as more time passed and the veteran devs left only for trannies to replace them the game got exponentially worse
Everytime I see a screenshot or video from GW2 I can't tell if it's actually from this game or from GW1 because the graphics have aged that fricking badly.
This reads almost like satire. but good riddance, i find the game fun and exploring is very enjoyable. the base game story is pretty ehhh, i might dip into the expansions after my payment. i just really don't know what to think of the 'end game' because of the horizontal structure, but i haven't hit 80 yet. i just wish we had a good sandbox mmo that's literally just runescape but not by jagex (runescape 4 is probably still in hell development, since it's supposed to be a whole new game), i only know archeshit did things right but never got to try it. or just have an mmo where people take the best of wow/xiv and combine them.

gw2 is unironically good for fricking around in endgame because there's no gear rush and you can do whatever you enjoy doing and there's no monthly fee so you'll never be behind anyone
I made bis gear in 2015 and its still valid today, that's the biggest advantage gw2 has, its not a fricking second job

But isn't legendary gear grind considered too much? also something about stats not making any tremendous difference. i just really don't know what to think of the endgame in general because everyone says it sucks. i just can't make my own goals without being spoonfed some stupid tasks.

Legendary gear can be aquired through 3 avenues, raids/pvp/WvW
Raiding is by far the easiest route. If you aren't autistic and can find yourself a raid group, you can get it in a couple weeks. The biggest grind is honestly the funds, all legos (most all) require an intense resource requirement.
legendary armor is nice because you can freely change the stats. It opens up build options for people who want to switch between support/dps/tank roles but don't want to juggle multiple gear sets
I always felt the NPCs were off. Like imagine introducing yourself like "Hey im just your local male engineer." Doesnt that sound weird, identifying by your gender when meeting someone?
>Doesnt that sound weird, identifying by your gender when meeting someone?
Yes, but you have to realize for the vast overwhelming majority of people, they don't have to tell you their gender because it's obvious
But if you want to be special, you need to tell people
they retconned the main cast to replace them with a very poorly written sparkle squad consisting of an interracial+interspecies couple, a lesbian couple and a cripple
they retconned the god of war to be evil because war is bad mkay even in a combat focused video game
they retconned the entire political intrigue and wars of gw1 to replace it with the happy fun power of friendship theme of gw2
and then lots of minor characters being trannies or other identity politics analogs for no reason
thats just the woke stuff, they destroyed gw1 lore and replaced it with extremely poor written garbage, the game runs like shit even on 2022 top end PCs, the PvP and PvE mechanics are trash and large scale encounter in the game is just "follow zerg ball and press 1"

You realize XIV is now the largest, most powerful MMO on the market right? Its also winning tons of awards that MMOs never before it would even consider being in the running for.
I don't get this, New World has more active viewers on twitch and a much bigger playerbase on steam, FF14 is not winning in anything other than being a larping loser simulator.
>Released only a year later

ff14 1.0 almost killed square enix, I wish it did because it was replaced by a shitty wow clone with invisible walls and loading screens everywhere not to mention piss difficulty because of dumbass console users that cannot use a keyboard
Perhaps but BDO is the most unsocial game I've ever played and that's a goddamned achievement for a sandbox game that lives and dies on the nature of meaningful player interaction.

If Guild Wars has horizontal progression by your definition then Elder Scrolls, Albion, Asheron's, UO and Albion have it too.

Cantha's entire history and storyline is being isolationist. Boiling them down to bigoted fascists is incredibly moronic. I'm only part way into the Expansion but I have a feeling the whole thing is going to be about how backwards and wrong they are for having their own culture.

One of the main areas is a shit-filled city full of plague and there's L4D infected everywhere
The amount of effort and creative talent it takes to create an MMO that's great at launch, and stays great for years no longer exists in the video game industry. Get your nostalgia fixes where you can, because that shit ain't coming back without a massive video game industry crash.

I literally just logged in after not logging in for like 10 years and a bunch of the servers are full
that being said I'm lost as frick and not sure I wanna spend the time or money (on expansions) to get back into it
>10 years
you're behind on so many currencies it's not even funny. if you are just for playing the game for the story, you'll be alright. (if you spend real money for content)
yeah you aren't kidding, when I logged in a message popped up and it basically said 'currencies are account wide now' and then I saw all the currencies I didn't have which was kinda overwhelming
The problem with GW2 combat is that the content rarely takes advantage of it. The community is mostly hyper casual so all that gets perpetual development time is brainless open world shit.
Forced to play through the storyline, with its unskipable cutscenes, to get mastery points in order to level up. Whoever came up with that idea of a system deserves to be shot.

THANK YOU. I'm glad I'm not the only person who's bothered by this. The entire game looks like you're in a permanent fricking haze, like some fever dream. The bloom and blur is turned up so fricking hard it's horrific. Couple that with how godawful the game runs even on a good pc with max graphics and you get this hideous fricking mess of a game.
Seriously play GW2 for 10 minutes then log into FFXIV and you immediate notice the difference.
>one of End of Dragons main features is unlocking the ability to own and drive a boat around the watery parts of New Old chinkland >if you played path of fire at all then you'd have a floating magic manta ray as one of your mounts, which not only works on water but is faster than boats >"b-b-but you can have party members be passengers and go fishing!" >there's almost no worthwhile/sizeable bodies of water to use your boat in from previous zones/expansions, especially not the desert expansion lmao
Fishing is fun for a small subset of players I guess but the worldwide fish hunt and title was solved and proven to be about three weeks of content to a serious fisherman player. Fishing up leviathan world bosses is not as fun as ppl thought it would be either
I really really want to like GW2, but literally no one will play with me, and I get the same combat out of New World while also getting to proximity voice chat with real women players in towns who want me to toot my flute and increase their carrying capacity for 90 minutes via music buffs. I fricking hate New Worlds aesthetician but at least people can call each other gays and duel on village outskirts like the old days
Mounts get disabled when you enter the jumping puzzle areas
>fly around minding my own business >mount suddenly disabled because flew too close to the sun I didn't know even existed >oops you entered the forbidden zone
nice immersion
GW2 has no type of content that comes out consistently enough to have thriving communities. Everything from fractals to dungeons to WvW to PvP stops and starts receiving content at complete random. Super adventure box will always remain half finished, raids will never come back, etc.
This year, even the story players have no content. It's just season 1 shit.
I dont want to play WoW and FF14 because those games despite what you morons tell me are mechanically worse than gw2 and have no respect for your time. How is pic related?
>How is pic related?
are you rich or currently unemployed?
you need to be one or the other for LA.
also the bots are so bad that the devs removed ways to get gold.
Amazon is fricking it up royally. Sneak pozzing aspects. As for gameplay, it's good until you hit the wall of grind or paying up... like every KMMO ever. Everything fun in the game is hard gated weekly as well so fun runs? No a thing. Hope you like alts.
>How is pic related?
It's not good. It's a typical korean MMO(with ARPG combat) except worse and more grindy because the game expects you to have a dozen alts to funnel your main.
Just wait for some of the upcoming MMOs like:
Archeage 2(AA1 + BDO-type combat)
Throne and Liberty(Lineage 2 style)
Zenimax Online's next MMO
Aion 2
Crimson Desert
Corepunk
Palia
Blue Protocol
Ashes of Creation
Riot's MMO
Diablo 4(semi-MMO)
Dune: Awakening
Playable Worlds
Profane
Project Honor
Starkeepers
Last I heard was that it will basically be a normal PC MMO, but you will be able to play the game on your phone too. They could have just been lying about that though.
>The mobile version will hold the pc version back especially in the gameplay.
That is very likely, yeah. They have been pretty tight-lipped about the game, so we'll just have to wait and see.
there is no reason to believe any of these will be good and if they are good then they're going to be ruined somehow by mtx. any mobile/pc hybrid game should immediately go into the trash.
call me an idiot but I want a rift 2
rift was so fricking fun, the only big issues I had were too much focusing on raids, too much nerfing fun shit (they fricking nerfed my saboteur and void knight within like a month or two of launch) while leaving stupidly OP shit like pyromancers untouched
it's pretty bizarre. gw2 gets so much hate when it's far from being bad. a lot of the time it seems to be from eternally asshurt gw1gays. if it had any worthwhile support at all i'd bet it'd be pretty competitive. hell even just making it run better would be a start, dx11 be damned. nobody wants to play an old game that also runs like shit.

>gw1gays
Comebine it with the ff14 cult. Any mmo discussion is pointless on this bot filled board since they derail it
GW2 in itself is not completely terrible, it's okay, but when you think about how it was meant to be a successor to GW1, it's fricking atrocious in every aspect, because it failed to do anything that made GW1 so great.
Too much focus on pointless gimmicky endgame shit. Fractals, Raids, Strikes, all dogshit content that literally nobody asked for and is only cared about by the same 0.5% vocal minority of the games playerbase.
Secondly, all of the original talent left long, long ago, and now all thats left is a bunch of incompetent hacks who literally have zero clue what they are doing with their game.
Thirdly, the game was also something literally nobody ever asked for. GW2 should have been more like GW1. We should have got Utopia instead.
I wouldn't mind it so much since GW2 can be fun in its own way. The open world stuff is great, best in the genre without doubt. But for reasons listed above, they throw that advantage away and instead resort to generic dull ass instanced content, that again, NOBODY asked for except the same bunch of mentally ill parse trannies that infest every MMO.
>Too much focus on pointless gimmicky endgame shit. Fractals, Raids, Strikes, all dogshit content that literally nobody asked for and is only cared about by the same 0.5% vocal minority of the games playerbase.
Most moronic thing i heard in this thread. Fractals and the recent strikes are one of the few good shit left. >Secondly, all of the original talent left long, long ago, and now all thats left is a bunch of incompetent hacks who literally have zero clue what they are doing with their game.
This is sadly true.
>Fractals and the recent strikes are one of the few good shit left.
This is your brain in WoW-rot.
GW1 had its own unique endgame style, with great content that stood out, was tactical and unique. We could have got that, but instead they just coped the low hanging fruit that normies love so much.
If you didn't play GW1, you really have no idea of the potential this game and franchise had. Its just sad.
>Too much focus on pointless gimmicky endgame shit.
I'd say they focus way too much on story and single-player content.
>Fractals and the recent strikes are one of the few good shit left.

NTA but GW1 endgame pve could be roughly divided into two categories: elite missions and hard mode anything.
Elite missions vary from being rather open zones with varying objectives to linear dungeons. Hard mode scales every enemy in the game to beyond max level and updates their skillsets as well making everything in hard mode, including story missions and full clearing all the explorable zones endgame content.
Now these can't be talked about without bringing up Death Penalty. Each time a character dies, they receive stacking -15% penalty to their max Health and Energy (you can reduce it by various means, usually by killing bosses or receiving XP. Nowadays they have casualized it by adding tons of consumables you can use to reduce it with) In hard mode zones, resurrection shrines can't be used at -60% death penalty meaning full wipe gets you get booted out of the zone and it resets. Elite missions don't have resurrection shrines so full wipe is automatically a full reset. There's real stakes to wiping which can cost hours of progress, and one bad pull can easily wipe the whole party, especially considering most zones and missions have patrolling mob groups.
Considering the raw numbers on hard mode are almost always against you since you're fighting enemy groups 4-10 levels above you and have other hard mode bonuses on top of that, you'll have hard time brute forcing through them and need to actually figure out synergetic group strategies and fine tune counter builds against specific encounters but generally speaking there isn't any encounter that absolutely enforces a specific strategy. You can usually find a handful of different ways with different classes to deal with whatever.
/v/'s hateboner for GW2 never ceases to amaze. It's always the same three or so pictures, they're almost a decade old by this point. Fascinating, really. Is there any other game that inspires such butthurt?
Game 1 was an amazing 10/10 game that everyone loved.
Game 2 is a piece of 5/10 garbage ran by trannies + SJWs filled with troony + SJW shit, and the game hardly even resembles anything that made Game 1 great.
I'm playing this game right now and I want to fricking die. I'm trying to finish up this mission Hidden Arcana where there's some fricked up gimmick where the floor is literally lava that one hit kills you unless you kill enemies and touch something in an order (what that is changes by whatever part of the map you're on), bosses are invulnerable unless you figure out the puzzle that lets you do temporary damage, the final boss is a combination of these gimmicks that are random (with some of the objects pushing you away even though you're supposed to contact them), the motherfricking respawn checkpoint is at the beginning outside of every fight, and after finally getting the final boss health down and killing him THERE'S MORE FRICKING DIALOG TALKING THAT YOU CAN'T FRICKING SKIP BECAUSE THE DEVS WHO MADE THIS GAME ARE FRICKING c**tS WHO I SWEAR TO JESUS I WANT TO SHOOT MOTHER FRICK
That's season 2, right? That season is entirely fricking skippable, a youtube summary will tell you all you need to know about the story. The only reason to ever to it is because of the free legendary amulet you get for completing all the return to achievements.

>tfw already beat the S2 cancer challenges
You can do it, anon
>add heroes to gw2 that you can bring with you into instanced content >suddenly 8x the buildcraft >8x the fashionwars >not having to rely on shithead parsetroony players >game is now timeless and will be always be fully playable (except for open world metas which is abit more tricky to handle) >people can enjoy the game how they want
there you go, ive fixed your game
I tried the game recently again since dropping it shortly after launch. Only took them 10 years to make it decent thanks to the expansions but the vanilla game is still as awful as before, still sucks compared to GW though.
>Why did this game die Ganker?
half the community who exploited that gold trade thing at launch was banned and numerous other drama related e-celeb shit i can't be fricked to remember and the game sucked ass[/spoiled]
There are some skins in GW2 that resemble her armor and weapons but if she was in GW2 that face and hairstyle would make her stand out from all the other same-face NPCs.

Gwen is one of the ghosts in Dragonfall's meta. She leads one of the event chains iirc.

She technically is in 2, but all ghosty so you can't see the goods.
She most likely got "updated" and looks like trash now anyway.

No, it's Dragonfall. Each "lane" has its theme. Logan even says it reminds him of Maguuma and has slight PTSD about it.

>IF YOU DON'T LOG IN WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF US RELEASING A NEW STORY STEP THAT WE ONLY DO EVERY FEW MONTHS YOU'RE FRICKED AND WILL HAVE TO COUGH UP SHEKELS TO PLAY IT HAHA >BTW THERE'S LIKE 500 STORY STEPS NOW
Do they still do this shit?
They banned thousands of people on launch for vendoring items.
If you made a forum post about skills that didn't work you got banned.
If you talked abou the diminishing returns on loot in chat you got muted.
>Why did this game die Ganker?
It didn't. A third expansion came out several months ago and a fourth one is being made right now. And there so many people on any worldboss at any hours that it'll destroy your framerate.
They had some top tier casting VAs in the game such as:
Logan was Troy Baker
Taimi was Ashley(RE4)'s VA
Canach was Bender from Futurama's VA
and a bunch of other known VAs
I guess budget wasn't enough so they don't even showcase Logan anymore.
and a bunch of character like Canach got a new VAs that dont even try to sound like the original.
Breaks the immersion big time.
Guild Wars fans just wanted more Guild Wars campaigns or a visually-improved re-release. Or just active patching.
What we got was a fricking WoW clone with drastically reduced synergy, no Monk, and horribly cluttered unclear visual effects. I refunded during the beta.
It was a fricking WoW clone. Huge mobs of players in a persisten world. That's a WoW clone. The careful deck building, multi-layered party-based synergistic gameplay, the instance-based world, the horizontal progression, all gone.
Are you really calling a game a WoW clone because you can see people in the open world? That is literally the defining factor of a game being an MMORPG and has nothing to do with WoW. GW2 is nothing like WoW.
No it's not you fricking moron. GW1 is not even really an MMO. It had no budget and the world being instanced is the worst part of the game. Imagine calling a game with no vertical progression and no quests a WoW clone, jesus christ. It didn't even launch with any raids.
>Say you will never release a school uniform that got datamined >Release a different school uniform anyway
No one plays the game because the non-gem/BL fashion sucks dick and you're kind of set once you get the good power/condi orange gear, along with pinks feeling super moot to have aside from accessories because of how dead fractals are.
Everyone should've stopped playing Gw2 when the development team got shuffled with Nexon employees. They used to release two to four hours worth of content every other two weeks. Then they stopped and instead flooded the cash shop with cosmetic skins they sell.
There is literally nothing to do in this game because Anet has conistently refused to actually put time and money into this game and just expects to passively collect income from the Gemstore sales.
>into the labryinth >maze level >invincible boss rushes and kills you in the maze >you respawn at the beginning each time >boss default position is beginning of maze >have to find four allies in the maze before you can fight the boss and do damage >dying to boss spawns you outside the boss arena, you have to interact with wall to spawn back in >there's also a time limit to get an achievement point towards mastery points: 20 minutes >die to boss but allies kill it, stuck outside the arena >can't finish mission and complete under 20 minutes without completing dialog AFTER the fight
Okay this is not funny anymore. This is an MMORPG designed by Hitler.
the devs knew about the dude who duped tons of infusions and did nothing about it. they only decided to do something cause he got found out. otherwise they would have done shit.
to add to my points, they knew he was duping but he was a pro-gw2 streamer so devs gave him a bunch of leeway and didn't do shit about it. people only found out cause he was streaming and accidentally left his private bank open for people to see a bunch of duped high end infusions.
1. The original story against Zaithan was underwhelming
2. The subsequent story is written by woke morons and it's a lot worst than the original
3. The audio effects and visual effects of Melee weapons are shit tier and you feel like you are attacking the air
4. You don't have anything to do, too many shit is just behind gems, so it's not interesting like original GW when you had fun playing thousands of hours for cosmetics
>3. The audio effects and visual effects of Melee weapons are shit tier and you feel like you are attacking the air
This, sound breaks half the time and you hear no sound effect for your attacks, sometimes there's a massive delay in the sound effect so you will hit 10 times and hear nothing then all of a sudden you hear the sounds of all 10 attacks simultaneously. It's been this way since launch and they somehow still havent fixed it.
I think it's horizontal progression and team comp depth is actually the reason it's the best MMO on the market, plus the devs actually give a frick about the game.
Is the writing getting worse? Yeah but this isn't FF14, you can skip cutscenes and lose nothing
Active GW2 player here. The game isn't dead, it's in a pretty healthy state since the release of the expac and the steam launch.
What has been holding the game back for ages is the lack of new content. The last 5 player dungeon was released 2 years ago, the last raid tier 3 years ago. Structured PvP is dead. WvW restructuring has been in the works for years. They release an expansion at the start of the year and all they have done since then is re-release 10 year old content. It always feels like Arenanet are doing their best to kill the game off, but it just won't die.
oh I'm surprised cause getting to 80 doesn't take long at all. yeah lots to do in the game. huge world. huge maps. tons of content. wide variety of map layouts and designs. hidden areas. jumping puzzles. account unlockables based on mastery system (post 80 unlocks). idk how to explain but there's a shit load. oh a lot of specs for classes. expansions give access to new specs for each class and there's a good amount of variety.
my first 300+ hours where only sPvP and WvW. I still haven't touched raiding or fractals or even explored all the maps. there's mounts too and they feel like riding around weird animals cause of how heavy they can feel. I can ramble nonsense forever but basically it's fun.
Its in like the top 5 biggest MMOs. That being said, the latest expansion feels a bit rushed. I guess it was because they didn't expect to keep the game running.
moronic premise, the superhero group that was destined to save the world, fell apart, because their leader decided he'd rather simp for a woman instead.
Also writer's pets such as Scarlet Briar.
not him but it's not a hidden gem at all, it just has a dogshit marketing team behind it and doesn't really have the same reward structure as traditional MMOs so part of the crowd avoids it at a glance
1-80 vanilla game is basically a trial of the game before you get into the expansions.
I've played almost every MMO under the sun since poopsocking Everquest bosses in 2000. The maps delivered by the first expansion Heart of Thorns in GW2 are hands down the best, most enjoyable maps in any MMO I've played. The pure verticality of traversing through the levels, event cycle, rewards, challenge difficulty, all amazing.
Expansions open up multiple ways to play each class too. Some elite specs suck dick but some are just colossal improvements with distinct flavor and power.
Also has the best mount-feel in any MMO, period. There is a legitimate complaint that mount SKINS are inaccessible unless you buy them from the shop, otherwise you get access to all of them through Path of Fire
Chronic mismanagement, heavy focus on trans/gay/asexual etc main cast, gender pronoun dragon farce, no new content for months, gemstore bloat, last expac sucked, mmos dying genre in general. I think that about covers it.
The pricing structure for GW2 is so weird. So you have paid expansions. But in between those you have paid (unless you play launch week) living world seasons that clearly should be patches for the expansion itself. But these are supposedly optional, yet they are basically required to understand the story progression between expansions. Charging for living story should never have happened, and if need be just bump up the expansion prices to compensate.
most fans of the game will agree that the Living Story packs are kinda whack and outdated. They also aren't outwardly transparent to new players how much is actually locked behind them too. Would love to see them made free or heavily discounted for a smaller price
I don't see many players in the community who are happy about living world seasons existing behind a paywall when a good chunk of them are basically required to have access to some of the best/easiest farming methods in the game
It's archaic and not very clear to a new player, they should at least exist at 50% their current price
Yes yes twitch viewers. Did you get it out of your system?
FF14 is not bigger than New World, it's not the biggest MMO at all, why are FF14 gays so obsessed with being the biggest? No one gave a single frick about your gay RP scene until Asmongold saved the game
Im not obsessed. Im not even subbed to it currently. Im just stating facts. And you ruined the whole little argument with the torll bit at the end. I swear you people frick up and blow your cover too early.
The luckybancho numbers were DEBOONKED many times. He inflates the active count by basically claiming that anyone who subbed at all during the 4-6 month period of data collection is considered 'active'. Which is obviously not true. Just because you resub a month for a patch every patch cycle doesnt mean you can claim all those people are active and keep playing.
Sub data is skewed and a lie, it has been for literally every game ever
I promise you if it's anything like WoW's numbers, new trial accounts or people logging on for the first time in a quarter as well as playing on a different computer in an internet cafe counts as new subs
Twitch is a very good representation of player interest/ engagement, if FF14 was the bigger game, how come it didn't beat New World when FF14 just dropped a new patch?
Anonymous
Beat in what sense? The false metric that isnt sub count? If Asmongold plays some random indie MMO for example and boosts it to 50k every day, that doesnt make the game massively popular. People watch streams for the streamer. It doesnt indicate that every viewer scales up to an amount of players. And XIV isnt the only case of this, theres tons of massively popular games with not many twitch views.
Anonymous
Like? Asmongold saved FF14 because he got people to try the game because he was playing it a long while, if you don't believe me the guys at square have said that sales boosted the exact same time as Asmon playing
The worst thing Asmon ever did was play that fricking game, the morons who play FF14 cannot handle the attention
It's a troll post but fractals are the most popular pve activity in the end game, you can easily find groups for it all hours of the day so pink gear is important there
However yeah, most players might not like that gw2 doesn't have RP elements or gear progression, but to me that's a plus. You're always playing the game optimally so it's down to how you play your class to see how well you do
It wasn't anything it marketed itself as during development. >play YOUR STORY >lol j/k play the living story of the dev's mary sue vegetable lesbians
MMOs that preceded it all, from UO to EQ and SWG and even GW1, actually offered you 'your own story' in a way GW2 failed to.
Gays
Scarlet Briar wasn't gay.
Did it?
Diversity hires
Fat people. Even the person that made that image knew it subconsciously by making the fat frick on the left and the skinny fat on the right compared to all slim on the left.
First game to include trannies
end of dragons sucked ass and then they wanted to rehash living world 1 over the course of a year for no fricking reason
Because there is literally zero content in this game and anything you'd want to grind for (cosmetics/mounts) are all on the gemstore so it's either pay $$$ to get what you want or just log off.
The game has been in maintenence mode since launch.
Yeah games in maintenance mode always get multiple large expansions! I can tell you’re a really smart guy!
Yeah games in maintenance mode always get multiple large expansions! I can tell you’re a really smart guy!
>and anything you'd want to grind for (cosmetics/mounts) are all on the gemstore so it's either pay $$$ to get what you want or just log off.
this right here
this is quite possibly worse than all the troony shit, lore raping, etc etc. Any game that does this is automatically gay and it's probably one of the main reasons I quit. Just makes everything feel pointless
Hey now, don't forget, there are many progress bars you can fill.
This 100%. was there at launch and after 2 weeks of an awesome leveling experience there was absolutely nothing to do at 80.

they made the mistake of making a fun MMO with no subcost but literally no repeatable content at launch. me and my friends did each dungeon and all the explorable modes at launch but since bis gear came from karma or that one citadel of flames path nobody bothered to do them again. eventually fractals was fun but as with all repeatable content in an MMO its speedran and boring after the first day. since it isnt made in japan nobody cares about its generic story that's just stretched over years so it died.
>Make story focused MMO like FFXIV
>The story is dogshit and filled with trannies
There's your answer
Name one troony that is actually part of the story in GW2
logged in yesterday and they didn't take out the troon shit storyline yet, redeemed all my birthday shit and logged right back out
There is literally an entire questline where someone gets turned into a girl. It was funny and they hated it but it happened.
HAHAHHA DUDE! There's literally an npc who uses mesmer illusion magic to make himself into a chick after it got destroyed and that he had to live his life truly as he is in LA.
Aid worker Sya or some shit.
that's not a main story character it's a npc with just that line of dialogue
>HAHAHHA DUDE!
reddit.
the ice dragon also the same story that changed the dragons to be genocidal bad guy dude mans also made sure to let you know that misgendering a genocidal dragon is heckin NOT OK
>made sure to let you know that misgendering a genocidal dragon is heckin NOT OK
I need to see this
Also, the most blatantly misogynistic faction has a MTF god?
It's not story-focused, though. You can actually totally skip the story in GW2 after a five minute tutorial. Only thing that matters is you get to lvl 80, how you get there doesn't matter and everything shits experience at you.
more accurate is to say that it's plot focused, but doesn't have the volume of story to tell it
it sucks
Why does every thread about this game on Ganker never hit bump limit and just dies after a few posts? Even the /vg/ thread is dead.
Real shame, was probably a nice place prior to it becoming uninhabitable for literal years, thanks to a single schizo and their bot army.
xivg has been (relatively) schizo free for like 5 years or so, shadowbringers got rid of what was left
That's not true
Threads still get spammed to frick and back with scat images every now and again.
that's just barry
>trying to blame XIV
it was a furry GW2 player who got unbelievably butthurt he was kicked from the /vg/ guild
>it was a furry GW2 player who got unbelievably butthurt he was kicked from the /vg/ guild
Wonder where that guy is now
being the local ff14 (doesn't play it) schizo browsing wowg all day
This. Don't spread misinformation. Also even before he was kicked he was insufferable flooding the general with charr pictures every saturday.
He was bragging about it on the xivg discord. Spare me the revisionism.
Just because he lives in that discord doesn't mean he plays XIV lmao.
maybe he moved to FFXIV when they added hrothgar since he was a charr fricker before lol
Why the frick would you try to blame xiv?
>Aion makes more money than GW2
How has this game not been shut down yet?
there's still a decent sized korean aion fanbase
also aion classic came out last year and somehow retail aion is still alive in the west with a few hundred players
Because arenanet is managed by chimpanzees and the playerbase are either casuals or turbospergs with no in-between
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
gw2 is trash
>Why did this game die Ganker?
Did you mean "kill"? You can't "die" Ganker.
it didn't
This was first game ever where I regret playing it for so many hours instead of doing something productive
What a moronic statement when it can apply to any game ever made.
anyone's got the "beat up the bigot" quest?
>anyone's got the "beat up the bigot" quest?
See
The only content that the game has is PvP and the story, and the story is not very good
So yeah
This. I don't even know what the story was because all I did was sPvP. Then they redid how all the builds worked so I just quit instead of relearning it
just got a exp and will get another already confirmed so the salty and crying people need to rant about it. go play wow
Absolutely butchered the 10th anniversary by launching on Steam for $100 and skipping the normal anniversary gem store sales. Even the Black Friday sale is garbage. It seems like they actually don't want to be successful.
>make a multiplayer
>actually, it's singleplayer 99% of the time except for world VS world
>wait wtf why is everyone leaving
nah. people just like to be mazed and run on treadmills to forget their pathetic lives. gw2's horizontal progression can't offer sufficient rewards for the average rat and it's that simple. it does virtually everything better than its competitors.
Maybe they should make the group finder not completely worthless so people use. Game always looks dead with no groups. There wasn't even a single dungeon group formed using that piece of shit even after the steam launch
people don't run dungeons in gw2, they aren't main content like in ffxiv
Because the devs abandoned them almost immediately
Okay, but the group finder for fractals and all content is also dead, and dungeons are part of the story and still no one did them when there were thousands of new players playing.
Horizontal progression eliminated 90% of the potential MMO crowd. The only ones that remained are troony players who like to dress up.
>we're going to release an MMO with no gear grind but also no content updates it's going to be great 🙂
also every 2-3 years of maintenance mode they just threw creative direction at someone new who tries one thing randomly and then it's never touched again and its back to maintenance mode until they want to sell you a new expansion and then the cycle repeats. the game is fricking schizophrenic.
>implying vertical progression is good
Creates an entirely different set of problems where content is abandoned and left to die because the "numbers aren't high enough". Frick that shit. BTW GW2 is either #4/#5 most popular MMO on the market with another two expansions on the horizon. Cope.
did i?
Vertical progression is objectively better than horizontal progression when it comes to MMOs. There's a reason why 99% of MMOs throughout the last ~25 years have had vertical progression.
That's not a metric of anything given that you're talking about a literal graveyard of failed WoW clones because apparently the dumbasses funding these games would rather risk absolute failure over a sustainable niche.
Yes
>What did End of Dragons add?
>be me
>clink that youtube link
looks like tumblr but video game?
>That's not a metric of anything given that you're talking about a literal graveyard of failed WoW clones because apparently the dumbasses funding these games would rather risk absolute failure over a sustainable niche.
I am talking about every MMO in existence, ever. Even the most successful ones. Meanwhile I can't even think of just 3 halfway decent MMOs with horizontal progression.
>FFXI
>Guild Wars 1
>DoAC
inb4 you option select to "All of those are shit" to save your ass.
>FFXI
Never played, so I don't can't comment on that one.
>Guild Wars 1
That's a valid one I'll agree with.
>DoAC
DAoC had vertical progression, it was just slow. RR10 > RR1, for example.
Another one I thought of is Planetside, but I don't know if MMOFPS is valid to insert into this discussion about MMORPGs.
>The Elder Scrolls Online
>Guild Wars
>Guild Wars 2
>Asheron's Call
>Albion Online
>Final Fantasy XI
>Planetside
>Planetside 2
>ULTIMA ONLINE of all fricking things
>The Elder Scrolls Online
It has vertical progression.
>Guild Wars
Valid.
>Guild Wars 2
Not a good game.
>Asheron's Call
Had tons of vertical progression.
>Albion Online
Has tons of vertical progression.
>Final Fantasy XI
Never played, can't comment.
>Planetside 1+2
Valid, but I don't know if MMOFPS games should be mentioned in context of MMORPGs.
>ULTIMA ONLINE
It had tons of vertical progression. The progression is just limited in terms of points, kinda like EVE. It's still vertical progression though.
eso and gw2 add the same shit in their patches and expansions. new areas and stat combos. theyre the same.
>eso and gw2 add the same shit in their patches and expansions. new areas and stat combos. theyre the same.
Champion points and elite specs don't really "add power" in the sense that a WoW expansion doubling your damage values does. It's about diversifying your playstyle.
yes horizontal progression
Just making sure read like you disagreed that it was horizontal
>Champion points and elite specs don't really "add power" in the sense that a WoW expansion doubling your damage values does.
Reading this, I assuming that ESO must have done some massive rework at some point then, because the difference in DPS between 0 CP and high CP was like double.
Here's a quick thread I found from 3 years ago - https://old.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/ajuvir/how_much_cp_affects_dps/
>those values
I call BS. That dude was fricking up his weaves. Regardless, Champion Point 2.0 made it horizontal after CP360 which you'll have within a week of playing. After that it's all gathering speed shit
>Champion Point 2.0
Alright, I wasn't aware that happened, so I'll have to concede and say that ESO counts as a valid horizontal progression MMO then.
You could make the same argument with Gatcha shit. Just because morons fall for the skinnerbox doesn't make it better.
Most MMOs throughout the last 25 years failed
>Almost every vertical progression MMO failed
>Almost every horizontal progression MMO succeeded and is still operating today with an active playerbase
Almonds activated.
Vertical progression is objectively not an indication of a games quality you dumbfrick. GW2 is fake and gay for entirely different reasons.
That thumbnail looks like a giant blue ass.
troony devs
thats literally it, the game went into a freefall of quality shortly after the game released
as more time passed and the veteran devs left only for trannies to replace them the game got exponentially worse
for me, it's Guild Wars 1
>we missed the prae-Columbian America expansion for this shit
>we missed out on Chronomages and Necromancers
frick this shit
>Nobody posted this yet
The original launch trailer killed all interest in the game before it ever released
Thanks for giving me a blast from the past. I can’t even imagine what the frick was Anet thinking with that trailer.
>norn female still had boob jiggle in that trailer
>mfw they removed it and made girl running more manly because trannies got mad
The very first case of "go woke, go broke"
What did they do that was woke?
the game treats you as if you are a 12 year old metro/homosexual.
Someone post that youtube video, I can't find it anymore. Something something "Start of Anet politics".
>unlisted
That's why I couldnt find it lol
yeah dude said he didn't want to keep smashing their ass so hard so went unlisted or some shit.
he tries to like that game.
Dang. That character creation tging was all I needed to see to never reinstall again.
I like sexy women.
Everytime I see a screenshot or video from GW2 I can't tell if it's actually from this game or from GW1 because the graphics have aged that fricking badly.
>its that moron who hates but still plays the game and shills his shitty channel again
wish I could see the full thread this was from. Archives don't got it.
That's a lot to take in.
I was really debating about getting EoD, but after that, hell naw.
Probably gonna uninstall soon too now. KEK
t. dude with 16k hours.
>But isn't legendary gear grind considered too much?
legendary is not bis, bis is ascended, you go legendary if you want to look like a technicolor moron
>i just can't make my own goals without being spoonfed some stupid tasks.
what are you an npc with no soul? there's infinite achievements, there's fishing, there's gold farming, there's pvp, gvg, tournaments, you can do speedruns of elite content, you can do raids hell you can sit in lion's arch and play the market and speculate to get rich, there's infinite shit to do
Legendary gear can be aquired through 3 avenues, raids/pvp/WvW
>When a character gets introduced as an "Agender engineer"
oh and there is a very obnoxious general theme along all of the writing of "strong woman, evil or dumb man"
>Released only a year later
>Story driven like GW2
>Is now the biggest MMO in the world while maintaining it's sub fee
>It's story is considered the greatest MMO story ever written, and among the best video game stories of all time
>GW2's story is considered one of the worst video game stories ever made
>GW2 which is basically dead
What did FFXIV do right that GW2 did wrong?
>conveniently ignoring nuking the original game for ARR
also copied wow and then wow was really bad for a long time. that's pretty much where most of its success came from. gw2 did its own thing and it's fun and alive. sounds like a win in my book.
>What did FFXIV do right that GW2 did wrong?
No trannies
>What did FFXIV do right that GW2 did wrong?
Its story wasn't dogshit and the developers did not openly antagonize its players.
>Its story wasn't dogshit and the developers did not openly antagonize its players.
But ARR was widely considered to be terrible story wise
>widely
No, it was considered terrible by a handful of morons that couldn't figure out that there's a ferry that takes you to Vesper Bay.
And? ESO is shit too.
And it's a buy2play game so the only things you have to buy are content. Cough it up you cheap frick. This is the price you pay for not sticking around since launch.
>the only things you have to buy are content
did they make the build templates free?
I remember getting a free one, i think
>b-b-but ARR
But you get rewarded with Heavensward for enduring ARR and rewarded with Shadowbringers for enduring Shitblood.
>rewarded with more story
Story isn't gameplay.
I like ARR and I’m tired of homosexuals telling me it’s bad
Everything wrong. Do FF tards live in their own universe?
yes, they are groomed into an empty shell and are filled with useless trivia and "have sex" arguments. stop replying to xivtards
Yes yes twitch viewers. Did you get it out of your system?
>XIV is smaller on every visible known publicly available metric than other games
>BUT TRUST ME BRO ITS HUGE I JUST KNOW
>has more active viewers on twitch
FF14 is ultimately a traditional MMORPG with the added bonus of story to get the solo crowd as well.
>Released only a year later
lmao stopped reading
ff14 1.0 almost killed square enix, I wish it did because it was replaced by a shitty wow clone with invisible walls and loading screens everywhere not to mention piss difficulty because of dumbass console users that cannot use a keyboard
EQ tests.
End game wasn't all that interesting when I played.
ArenaNet has the worst fricking marketing/writing but if you ignore that, it's easily the best MMORPG out there gameplay-wise.
BDO has better gameplay but worse everything else.
Perhaps but BDO is the most unsocial game I've ever played and that's a goddamned achievement for a sandbox game that lives and dies on the nature of meaningful player interaction.
>You have to literally pay for the MSQ in this game
>It's also terribly written woke trash
>playing MMOs for the story
i dont know where you vermin came from. i swear nobody gave a shit about the story of an mmo until xiv got popular.
>YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EXPANSIONS IN A BUY2PLAY GAME WHAT THE FRICK STOP THE PRESSES
>Elder Scrolls Online has vertical progression.
Horizontal endgame where they've never raised the level cap or gear scores
If Guild Wars has horizontal progression by your definition then Elder Scrolls, Albion, Asheron's, UO and Albion have it too.
>Horizontal endgame where they've never raised the level cap or gear scores
I haven't played for a few years, but back when I did, ESO definitely had horizontal progression in terms of how a strong a newly started character was versus a character with maxed out champion level.
I meant ESO definitely had vertical progression, of course*
>PAY FOR EXPANSIONS
Not just expansions but also story content you have missed out on when it was live.
>well just buy it with gold
I do not delight in the idea of working for what equates to $2 per hour.
>Not just expansions but also story content you have missed out on when it was live.
Equivalent to The Elder Scrolls Online's DLCs
pozzed woke shit shoving same-sex relationships in your face, killing off all their cool characters and the system inconveniencing you at every turn to make you pay
There's no way that's a real quest objective...
it is. not even joking.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/In_the_Name_of_the_Law
Jesus Christ
>fascist flattener
yea it's all so tiresome. I guess this is where we're at in gaming though.
Cantha's entire history and storyline is being isolationist. Boiling them down to bigoted fascists is incredibly moronic. I'm only part way into the Expansion but I have a feeling the whole thing is going to be about how backwards and wrong they are for having their own culture.
>isolationist Asian nation is actually a fascist hellhole full of RACISTS!
>one of GW2's largest competitors is Japanese
hmmmmm...
Wasn't Cantha based on China?
It's a mishmash, plus the Luxons and Kurzicks aren't really Asian
Cantha in GW1 was a mix, in GW2 it is primarily korean according to the devs because of NCsoft.
No because you can breathe the air
You wouldn't want to breathe Canthan air either.
lol you definitely haven't played Factions
I haven't, no. Only base game and Nightfall. Did I frick up my joke?
Yes, sorry anon
One of the main areas is a shit-filled city full of plague and there's L4D infected everywhere
is this what libtards think good game design looks like? there's no hope.
>it's real
The amount of effort and creative talent it takes to create an MMO that's great at launch, and stays great for years no longer exists in the video game industry. Get your nostalgia fixes where you can, because that shit ain't coming back without a massive video game industry crash.
>no longer exists in the video game industry.
next year return of the king
>Came back to game after quitting as an OG vet before the first expansion came out last week
>Bought the full version of the game on a whim
>Instantly regretted it partially because I realized Black Friday sale was right around the corner anyway
>Asked the devs for a refund and they agreed
>Log back in to keep playing trial version because I still want to play, just not sure about buying the full version just yet
>Find out I still get to keep my permanent raptor mount and 2 lvl 80 boosts (the mount is only 10 hours for trial acounts)
>Dumbass dev forgot to disable my boosts and remove my mount
Based. Might stick around after all.
I'll never forgive Anet for what they did to SAB
HOLY SOUL
path of fire and elona wank
>One of the Elder Dragons is genderfluid
JUST
>deity doesn't identify by gender
I hate trannies too but take a religion class ffs
They made it a point in the game, the only Dragon to be like that. It was very clear what they were doing.
>female voice
she's got a pussy and I'm gonna FRICK IT
Why didn't a month after release?
Bad combat and a moronic class system
>Bad combat
Best implementation of action/hotbar-hybrid combat in existence and the class system is quite good. Pleb consider yourself filtered.
The problem with GW2 combat is that the content rarely takes advantage of it. The community is mostly hyper casual so all that gets perpetual development time is brainless open world shit.
It just feels like spamming to me. Most classes have no resource or real mechanics beyond hit everything that isn't on CD.
i think you're supposed to do some skill rotation macros. i never did but yeah.
I can guarantee you're playing your class sub optimally
Looks good to me
I would have jerked my dick off having graphics like that as a kid playing UO. Anyone whining about muh gfx in Guild Wars 2 is a fricking moron.
ewwww
You could take that screenshot of any game Gankereddit likes.
wtf
sums it up for me, and why i quit after thousands of hours.
Nah.
Forced to play through the storyline, with its unskipable cutscenes, to get mastery points in order to level up. Whoever came up with that idea of a system deserves to be shot.
>when you have to replay instances for achievements for mastery points and you have to sit through their cringe californian dialogue again and again until you get it
>a lot of achievements don't even pop the first time through so they require you replay
>You can only play one class per character
>Meaning you have to level multiple characters to play every class you want
>Forced to go through the unskippable story multiple times over
>Meanwhile FFXIV lets you play every class on one character
>Also the story is actually good unlike GW2
Gee I wonder what game I'll play.
nobody with pictures like this actually plays the game
both games are single player mmos leading to the death of the genre, FFXIV actually shares more similarities with GW1 than GW2 as a lobby game
I really miss GW1's peak days. I've never had an experience better and doubt I ever will.
And GW 1 was a good game, so it's not a surprise that FFXIV is alive and GW2 is dead.
looks like trash( blurry + bloom + shitty colors) and the combat is some tab target mixed with action floaty abomination
>blurry + bloom
You must be extremely delusional. The game looks outdated but to say FF14 looks any better is cope. Its like im talking to a cult.
>Panties cheaper than socks
>socks cost more than sex
>one of End of Dragons main features is unlocking the ability to own and drive a boat around the watery parts of New Old chinkland
>if you played path of fire at all then you'd have a floating magic manta ray as one of your mounts, which not only works on water but is faster than boats
>"b-b-but you can have party members be passengers and go fishing!"
>there's almost no worthwhile/sizeable bodies of water to use your boat in from previous zones/expansions, especially not the desert expansion lmao
How badly did flying mounts kill jumping puzzles? t. quit after HoT
pretty sure they nerfed them from being used. there were some that you could but that was awhile ago.
>fly around minding my own business
>mount suddenly disabled because flew too close to the sun I didn't know even existed
>oops you entered the forbidden zone
nice immersion
getting a flying mount isn't easy, it has a terrible grind
Mounts get disabled when you enter the jumping puzzle areas
progression stops at around level 23
after that LITERALLY nothing happens
GW2 has no type of content that comes out consistently enough to have thriving communities. Everything from fractals to dungeons to WvW to PvP stops and starts receiving content at complete random. Super adventure box will always remain half finished, raids will never come back, etc.
This year, even the story players have no content. It's just season 1 shit.
Because it was never as good as GW1
>mfw some galaxy brain genius decided living story approach was preferable to yearly expansions
I dont want to play WoW and FF14 because those games despite what you morons tell me are mechanically worse than gw2 and have no respect for your time. How is pic related?
it's good if you have money to burn or are looking for a job. plenty of bots to RMT with. more bots than players, even. competitive pricing!
>complains about games not respecting your time
>Korean MMO
lol, lmao even what the frick are you thinking anon?
>How is pic related?
are you rich or currently unemployed?
you need to be one or the other for LA.
also the bots are so bad that the devs removed ways to get gold.
How in are you to programming bots?
>Lost Shart
dude this cuck fell for another p2w korean shit game
Amazon is fricking it up royally. Sneak pozzing aspects. As for gameplay, it's good until you hit the wall of grind or paying up... like every KMMO ever. Everything fun in the game is hard gated weekly as well so fun runs? No a thing. Hope you like alts.
>How is pic related?
It's not good. It's a typical korean MMO(with ARPG combat) except worse and more grindy because the game expects you to have a dozen alts to funnel your main.
Just wait for some of the upcoming MMOs like:
Archeage 2(AA1 + BDO-type combat)
Throne and Liberty(Lineage 2 style)
Zenimax Online's next MMO
Aion 2
Crimson Desert
Corepunk
Palia
Blue Protocol
Ashes of Creation
Riot's MMO
Diablo 4(semi-MMO)
Dune: Awakening
Playable Worlds
Profane
Project Honor
Starkeepers
>Aion 2
Isnt that a mobile game?
Last I heard was that it will basically be a normal PC MMO, but you will be able to play the game on your phone too. They could have just been lying about that though.
Yea thats a huge red flag me. The mobile version will hold the pc version back especially in the gameplay.
Only game on that list I heard of was blue protocol
Never could stand the DOTA wanabe combat that this game and ESO thought was a good idea.
MMO combat already tends to be a bit too simple, this shit doesn't help.
>10 years later
>some anons are still mad about gw2
You are truly losers.
it's pretty bizarre. gw2 gets so much hate when it's far from being bad. a lot of the time it seems to be from eternally asshurt gw1gays. if it had any worthwhile support at all i'd bet it'd be pretty competitive. hell even just making it run better would be a start, dx11 be damned. nobody wants to play an old game that also runs like shit.
>gw1gays
Comebine it with the ff14 cult. Any mmo discussion is pointless on this bot filled board since they derail it
Cry more little pussy.
Enjoy talking more about your facebook game than actually playing it.
You mean GW2?
GW2 in itself is not completely terrible, it's okay, but when you think about how it was meant to be a successor to GW1, it's fricking atrocious in every aspect, because it failed to do anything that made GW1 so great.
Trannies.
I never played GW1, what was the end-game like?
GW2 is the Ubigame of MMOs. All you do is run around crossing checkmarks of the map.
Yeah, I wonder why people are butthurt.
Should i get POF+HOT?
yeah. POF is fantastic. HOT is fine.
I quit but PoF is probably the best expansion ever made because it literally plays like a metroidvania.
ummm... it's very alive though?
Are you a wowbrain?
Need the core mastery points. I've already got the "easy" ones for killing bosses and finding insights on the map.
>tfw already beat the S2 cancer challenges
You can do it, anon
>add heroes to gw2 that you can bring with you into instanced content
>suddenly 8x the buildcraft
>8x the fashionwars
>not having to rely on shithead parsetroony players
>game is now timeless and will be always be fully playable (except for open world metas which is abit more tricky to handle)
>people can enjoy the game how they want
there you go, ive fixed your game
would pick up the game again if could have entire party of towering female Norn heroes
I tried the game recently again since dropping it shortly after launch. Only took them 10 years to make it decent thanks to the expansions but the vanilla game is still as awful as before, still sucks compared to GW though.
Too much focus on troons and diversity
Not enough charr grills mingling in human society
>Charr
No. Humanity and Balthazar, not furries and aliens, ok?
Humans are the aliens in Guild Wars, sorry
Nonsense, it's time to move on from that old history
homosexual
based
make charr armor again
beyond awful pvp balance that was only made worse by every expac
>Why did this game die Ganker?
half the community who exploited that gold trade thing at launch was banned and numerous other drama related e-celeb shit i can't be fricked to remember
and the game sucked ass[/spoiled]
what kind of men does she like?
The ones that make her an offering of Charr pelts. She was known as "Goremonger" among them.
Built for Big Norn wiener
Where and who is this NPC?
GW1
What a shame. I was gonna say it's the most attractive NPC I have seen from Arenatnet in a long while.
Her armor looking that being so overly designed was the giveaway for me
There are some skins in GW2 that resemble her armor and weapons but if she was in GW2 that face and hairstyle would make her stand out from all the other same-face NPCs.
Gwen is one of the ghosts in Dragonfall's meta. She leads one of the event chains iirc.
She most likely got "updated" and looks like trash now anyway.
Nah, she's alright. Just can't take any more Charr D.
Oh thats pretty good!
A shame she cant be used anymore, shes quite attractive.
>she cant be used anymore
We'll see about that. Science finds a way.
That looks like a HoT zone which means it happened way before dragonfal.
Or is that Cantha?
No, it's Dragonfall. Each "lane" has its theme. Logan even says it reminds him of Maguuma and has slight PTSD about it.
Only 2 places you can see that chick. Those are Dragonfall and the Wing 5 raid
She technically is in 2, but all ghosty so you can't see the goods.
Show me your cute salad
wow unironically won, pack it up bois
>IF YOU DON'T LOG IN WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF US RELEASING A NEW STORY STEP THAT WE ONLY DO EVERY FEW MONTHS YOU'RE FRICKED AND WILL HAVE TO COUGH UP SHEKELS TO PLAY IT HAHA
>BTW THERE'S LIKE 500 STORY STEPS NOW
Do they still do this shit?
They never did that. Story episodes are free until the next story episode released and always have been that way.
Dead?
moron devs+globo homosexual agenda+let troons rampart
Get woke, go broke. It is that simple.
Because it doesn't let you play as a skeleton
Theres no challenge. You do the same shit every day to unlock CONVENIENCE
They banned thousands of people on launch for vendoring items.
If you made a forum post about skills that didn't work you got banned.
If you talked abou the diminishing returns on loot in chat you got muted.
It was dead on arrival.
>Why did this game die Ganker?
It didn't. A third expansion came out several months ago and a fourth one is being made right now. And there so many people on any worldboss at any hours that it'll destroy your framerate.
horizontal progression locked behind shop
Went woke, unironically.
Should have seen the signs years ago, but I had hope it wouldn't get that bad. All crushed.
Give an inch and they'll take it a mile...
Didn't one of their devs off themselves at a company retreat or something?
literally the 41% meme hahahahahhahahaha
The two male writers who worked with Angel Mcoy both became troons.
They had some top tier casting VAs in the game such as:
Logan was Troy Baker
Taimi was Ashley(RE4)'s VA
Canach was Bender from Futurama's VA
and a bunch of other known VAs
I guess budget wasn't enough so they don't even showcase Logan anymore.
and a bunch of character like Canach got a new VAs that dont even try to sound like the original.
Breaks the immersion big time.
Wasted potential.
They even had dubbed Goku's VA in the game too.
But, yeah, dead game in the end.
mmorpg are for groomers
I'm just waiting for a fantasy MMO that works like Foxhole. Frick character-bound progression of any kind.
you realize basically everything in GW2 is account wide right?
Guild Wars fans just wanted more Guild Wars campaigns or a visually-improved re-release. Or just active patching.
What we got was a fricking WoW clone with drastically reduced synergy, no Monk, and horribly cluttered unclear visual effects. I refunded during the beta.
I wish GW2 was a WoW clone. I don't know what game you played, but it wasn't GW2.
That's the defining factor of being a WoW-style MMO. Not all MMOs are like that; see Guild Wars.
No it's not you fricking moron. GW1 is not even really an MMO. It had no budget and the world being instanced is the worst part of the game. Imagine calling a game with no vertical progression and no quests a WoW clone, jesus christ. It didn't even launch with any raids.
Lol they gave up that idea of no holy trinity really quick after HoT with Druids and FBs when PoF came out.
>Say you will never release a school uniform that got datamined
>Release a different school uniform anyway
No one plays the game because the non-gem/BL fashion sucks dick and you're kind of set once you get the good power/condi orange gear, along with pinks feeling super moot to have aside from accessories because of how dead fractals are.
>not focused on PVE
>not having a holy trinity
Everyone should've stopped playing Gw2 when the development team got shuffled with Nexon employees. They used to release two to four hours worth of content every other two weeks. Then they stopped and instead flooded the cash shop with cosmetic skins they sell.
sucks most skins look low quality and are ugly
the amount of wasted potential absolutely makes me sick. i will never not seethe at this game.
troony devs
They said they got rid of grinding, but there was still grinding.
It was just run around the map checking off shit on an excel spreadsheet, rather than killing several thousand goblins.
Their idea for getting rid of the grind was less fun, because you had to do the exact same shit every time with every character.
Why was this game born?
because people liked the first one
ded thread, like ded game
I play it during slow periods for other games. It's my comfy go to game along with stardew.
There is literally nothing to do in this game because Anet has conistently refused to actually put time and money into this game and just expects to passively collect income from the Gemstore sales.
>into the labryinth
>maze level
>invincible boss rushes and kills you in the maze
>you respawn at the beginning each time
>boss default position is beginning of maze
>have to find four allies in the maze before you can fight the boss and do damage
>dying to boss spawns you outside the boss arena, you have to interact with wall to spawn back in
>there's also a time limit to get an achievement point towards mastery points: 20 minutes
>die to boss but allies kill it, stuck outside the arena
>can't finish mission and complete under 20 minutes without completing dialog AFTER the fight
Okay this is not funny anymore. This is an MMORPG designed by Hitler.
because they banned kripparian on day 3 for getting rich
the devs knew about the dude who duped tons of infusions and did nothing about it. they only decided to do something cause he got found out. otherwise they would have done shit.
to add to my points, they knew he was duping but he was a pro-gw2 streamer so devs gave him a bunch of leeway and didn't do shit about it. people only found out cause he was streaming and accidentally left his private bank open for people to see a bunch of duped high end infusions.
It's been this way since launch and they somehow still havent fixed it.
its not dead
its just kinda shit
charr girls still top tier
It always feels like Arenanet are doing their best to kill the game off, but it just won't die.
gw2 is that secret gem mmo you never knew you wanted and is always there for you. toppest tier best mmo. played all at a high level. gw2 is too good.
Okay. Why?
it's free go play it see if you enjoy
I have played it, got bored at level 40 or whatever. Tell me why it's a hidden gem.
oh I'm surprised cause getting to 80 doesn't take long at all. yeah lots to do in the game. huge world. huge maps. tons of content. wide variety of map layouts and designs. hidden areas. jumping puzzles. account unlockables based on mastery system (post 80 unlocks). idk how to explain but there's a shit load. oh a lot of specs for classes. expansions give access to new specs for each class and there's a good amount of variety.
my first 300+ hours where only sPvP and WvW. I still haven't touched raiding or fractals or even explored all the maps. there's mounts too and they feel like riding around weird animals cause of how heavy they can feel. I can ramble nonsense forever but basically it's fun.
I have never met a GW2 player. I'm starting to believe the bot myth.
Also writer's pets such as Scarlet Briar.
for me the pain problem with this game is the gear looks awful and only a few armors look good, even the store ones
not him but it's not a hidden gem at all, it just has a dogshit marketing team behind it and doesn't really have the same reward structure as traditional MMOs so part of the crowd avoids it at a glance
There is a legitimate complaint that mount SKINS are inaccessible unless you buy them from the shop, otherwise you get access to all of them through Path of Fire
for
Chronic mismanagement, heavy focus on trans/gay/asexual etc main cast, gender pronoun dragon farce, no new content for months, gemstore bloat, last expac sucked, mmos dying genre in general.
I swear you people frick up and blow your cover too early.
you haven't posted facts, you plugged your ears and said its the bigger game without any visible proof
You're a fricking psychopath like the rest of the FF14 fanbase dude
People post the subscription number data all the time.
Beat in what sense? The false metric that isnt sub count? If Asmongold plays some random indie MMO for example and boosts it to 50k every day, that doesnt make the game massively popular. People watch streams for the streamer. It doesnt indicate that every viewer scales up to an amount of players. And XIV isnt the only case of this, theres tons of massively popular games with not many twitch views.
Like? Asmongold saved FF14 because he got people to try the game because he was playing it a long while, if you don't believe me the guys at square have said that sales boosted the exact same time as Asmon playing
The worst thing Asmon ever did was play that fricking game, the morons who play FF14 cannot handle the attention
It's a troll post but fractals are the most popular pve activity in the end game, you can easily find groups for it all hours of the day so pink gear is important there
However yeah, most players might not like that gw2 doesn't have RP elements or gear progression, but to me that's a plus. You're always playing the game optimally so it's down to how you play your class to see how well you do
It wasn't anything it marketed itself as during development.
>play YOUR STORY
>lol j/k play the living story of the dev's mary sue vegetable lesbians
MMOs that preceded it all, from UO to EQ and SWG and even GW1, actually offered you 'your own story' in a way GW2 failed to.
Its a shame that the choose your own adventure stuff basically ended by level 30. They should have at least kept it going the whole base game.
