The first one? Maximum of eight players in a party. Everything was instanced outside of town hubs. They explicitly called it not an MMO.
The second one is much larger with open zones so you get like fifty unpartied players running together in big deathballs to do the cycling world quests.
>The second one is much larger with open zones so you get like fifty unpartied players running together in big deathballs to do the cycling world quests.
so fornite is a MMO now?
why would anyone care
the literal only people who play MMOs through gabenet are morons and casuals that will play for a few hours and then move on to something else
most games on steam i bought in the last 2 years require that i download 3rd party software, that doesn't work. i have a folder full of titles that won't launch, won't activate, don't work. they are all modern games. there is no point in offering to sell me the game on a ~~*sale*~~ if i'm only allowed to install it and never actually run it. don't lie and say it's "on steam" if i need proprietary 3rd party software that stays online and steals my information to work. that's fraud, your system literally doesn't play the game you said it would. >buy this new chevy blazer >give me your social security number or the keys don't work
have a nice day
Just a word of warning to any potential new players, when you buy the full game you only get half of it, all the post game content they call "living world" where the bulk of the content is and were the dragon mount is hidden, is sold separately and with gems so you have to overspend to get them all.
its a dam shame bro the GW devs were very passionate i heard stories about dudes trying there best during GW2 development to ignore the woke colored hairs the company kept hiring but they all left one by one
This shit is still alive?
I remember dropping the game about a month after launch and I heard the story took a fricking nose dive because they kept forcing some lesbian plant girl or something
Caithe is a lesbian? I didn't play beyond the first year and I'm not sure if she was even interested in anyone. Since the Sylvari don't really reproduce it makes sense that they'd just pair off with whomever they like though.
The story was shit from the very beginning.
Imagine a group that was "destined" to save the world failed to do so and fell apart because of a fricking simp, who didn't appear during the most crucial battle because he was busy to cop a feel.
No I am not making that up. Lesbians are the least of the problem. Plant lesbians don't matter since they don't even reproduce, making their genders purely aesthetic and SAFE, since they are technically a monogendered race anyway.
The most annoying thing was definitely writer's pet Scarlett Briar. Definitely Vriska syndrome, but I don't think she was lesbian.
nice try gay, but it's still valid when it's a multiplayer game. Now post more player counts for months old singleplayer games and pretend it's the same thing.
>"the game that REDFINED MMORPGS" >focus on map clearing/event running >shit story >boring combat tied to weapons and weapon switching >best mount system in an MMO by far >unfortunately all the cool stuff is locked behind the fricking mastery grind >horizontal progression meaning once you get your ascended gear, you're done unless you want to autistically min/max
ArenaNet needs to stop flaunting that because it never actually happened lol.
The story is so fricking garbage and the dialogue so cringe worthy that it unironically makes warlo warcars story look good. It's a shame because overworld exploring and stuff is quite fun the first time, and a lot of MMOs barely have an open feeling world anymore
>horizontal progression meaning once you get your ascended gear, you're done unless you want to autistically min/max
implying the statgrind of other mmos isn't autistic...
Good thing I wasn't comparing it directly to the stat grind of other mmos then, anon. Horizontal progression is very much an acquired taste for people and most people are used to vertical progression because that's generally what most games use.
>focus on map clearing/event running
What's so bad about it. You have a reason to explore the maps or go back to them later. HoT events in particular were super fun. >shit story
I'll be honest, it was so forgettable I don't remember anything about it. There were a bunch of dragons we had to kill, and then the GOD OF WAR shows up for some reason? BUT, the way the story is told poops on FF14, especially in the expansions: NPCs talk to you while you're actively playing the game, and your character has a voice and can respond to them.
It's 20 years ahead of FF14 where you have to click on an NPC, read 999 unvoiced lines of text, then proceed to the next NPC and do the same. >boring combat tied to weapons and weapon switching
It's not just boring, it's straight-up wrong. It was clearly designed for PvP, because they were trying to become the next big eSport (lmao). It doesn't work for PvE, at all, all you end up doing with basically every class is this:
Press all your buttons. Switch weapon. Press all your buttons again. Switch weapon. Repeat. >unfortunately all the cool stuff is locked behind the fricking mastery grind
I don't mind it: it's just another reason to explore the maps, complete events and so on. And it's not like you need to unlock EVERY mastery skill, most of them are completely useless. >horizontal progression meaning once you get your ascended gear
I don't mind this either, I like it actually. My main issue with the game is that I don't like the combat in PvE: killing stuff isn't fun, and I never find useful or interesting items... so why should I keep playing? That's why I explore the newest maps when a new expansion drops, play for a month or two, and then completely quit the game.
wanting a decent to goodish story in a game that wants me to spend a gorillion hours playing it makes me a troony? I'll give GW2 credit for the fact that you're not the "Chosen One" that most MMORPG's use but goddamn the story overall isn't anything to write home about.
>Friend of mine tried his hardest to hype up GW2s latest expansion before release since most of the people in our friend group are all MMO junkies and were desperate to find some other timewaster to ruin their life with after WoW took a nosedive a year ago >Tries to hype up the story for some fricking reason >It works since I was the only person in the group that had played and quit GW2 close to release, so I knew what a shitshow the game was and how it has failed to improve when I gave it another shot around the 2nd expansion release >All of the people who gave it a shot quit GW2 before even reaching max level or reaching the end of the new expansion >My friend who tried so hard to shill GW2 for free got so god damned dissapointed after buying the most expensive version of the expansion that he sold his account
I tried to warn them and him, but he refused to listen while trying to say that he was just "taking a break" before the release but in reality he never even finished the story in that 2nd expansion either and never played more than 10 hours max of it. GW2 has been mediocre for some time, but it went from that to HOT FRICKING GARBAGE last expansion. The story drags down every element in the game and the gameplay has not evolved or even had any significant additions since release. Their level design/open world is the epidome of a Ubishit sanbox with events and markers everywhere that just wants you to do the same boring bullshit all over again just so that you can zerg down some world boss at 15fps while not being able to see shit either.
The fact that the devs seems so scatterbrained that they can never focus on a single thing at a time also means that ALL content they have released since they released their first raids have suffered in quantity and/or quality. Both the players and the devs themselves must have realised this, otherwise the "roadmap" that they made a year ago wouldn't have been treated like it did by the community.
Base game and the first season of living story was worth the time but Second season onward was terrible, the 2nd expansion did add what are probably the best Mounts in an MMO but that's not enough to save the rest of it and that's where I stopped playing
Second season was kind of slow, the maps were pretty good but yeah, it was mostly the waiting room before HoT.
Season 1, as much as poeple hate Scarlet as a character was pure ludo content wise, big happenings all around the world and pretty fun new enemies and maps
Right? Scarlet was a lame villain but the content her plots resulted in were good. I had a great time going through the tower with guildmates, organized robot runs, ect. Sure it started out with lame ass sign hammering but it certainly improved over time. Whole thing would be remembered much more fondly if they just had better written dialogue for Scarlet and came out the gate with some more engaging content.
>Can I use my current Guild Wars 2 account to log into the game through Steam? >No, if you have a Guild Wars 2 account which was created through the Guild Wars 2 website, you cannot log into it through Steam and vice versa. You will need to continue playing on your account using the client from the Guild Wars 2 website. To be able to login from Steam, you must create an account via Steam and use the Steam client to log into the game.
It's probably the same situation FFXIV has. Arenanet would probably owe steam a share of your purchases if you use the old account on the steam version.
And this is me being very cynical, but i think that transferring and integrating the account data bases into the steam api would be too expensive for them so they keep them separated, at least until the move turns a profit and then they'll be like "we're listening to our community and that's why we're implementing this long requested feature. aren't we great?"
They might? However, I believe it has to do with the fact GW2 has a digital currency and in-game shop. It's not like PSO2 where they sell the currency (AC I think?) through steam. FFXIV on the otherhand, has you pay for your subscription and whatever else through their 'mogstation' website, and steam becomes your payment option.
So, really, it's most likely arenanet wants to keep their share as long as they can.
There's no point, they don't want current players to start spending from their steam account and giving a cut to valve when they had no problem giving 100% to ncsoft before. They're well aware that people would love to link it to their steam account but it would be a net loss if they did.
Why do they do this? It's years too late, who even cares anymore
I genuinely cannot comprehend the stupidity of corps and devs who don't grasp that you have to release your shit on steam immediately, you cannot do it years later like a dumbass and hope it will magically work out
If the game is doing fine by itself there's no reason to release it on steam, it's only when you're ready to give 30% to gaben for the sake a dragging in new players that it becomes worth it
>If the game is doing fine by itself there's no reason to release it on steam, it's only when you're ready to give 30% to gaben for the sake a dragging in new players that it becomes worth it
It's getting 0 new players, nobody gives a frick at this point anon. So again, why bother. If it's doing well by itself, stay that way.
They didnt want steam to get 30% of their profit for 10 years when the only difference is the launcher. They put it on steam just to get some money from the diehard steam fans who shits on any game but praise it when it gets on steam.
>Which is basically zero people anon
Perfect time to put it on Steam then its going to give them extra money regardless and hopefully revitalize the player base

GW2, like GW1 in its time, while being a successful game, feels like it's a unknown game with zero real marketing and most people would not bother going on the website and install it if they stumbled upon a trailer or an article about it somewhere.
Pretty sure the simple fact that it'll be visible on Steam for a time will bring a lot of curious people and a lot of them will stay, wondering why they didn't really hear about that game before.

I played two characters, one that I leveled from scratch (a necro with the intention to play a reaper) and i boosted thief to give the specter a try to have a bit of a taste of endgame gameplay.
I purchased all expansions.
I was then met with episode after episode of gem locked content that all the guides online mention as requiring access to, in order to obtain ascended accessories. this quickly killed my interest in the boosted character, so i focused on leveling my necromancer from scratch with a friend through each of the zones doing zone completion. while fun for a while, it began to become increasingly monotonous, and we sort of just fell out of interest around level 50 because it was all so samey.
The game is terrible about informing you what systems do what, nothing seems to be organized even remotely, I'm not asking for a moron proof tutorial, but at least some semblance of organization would be fricking appreciated. It's like a shotgun blast of gear across the game and then you have to go pick up each shot piece in order to have what you need by the end.
Weapon swapping is not a fun mechanic, I do not like how it feels.
The servers had what I can only assume to be bad netcode because despite having an excellent connection everything was desyncing constantly, especially at Tequatl.
I played the game many years ago back before heart of thorns and the game is still plagued by graphical bugs I can remember from back then, and the story has taken a total nosedive.
That being said the mount system beyond the mastery point bullshit is pretty nice and more mmos should strive to have utility mounts like they are done in gw2, just without the dogshit grinding.

As much as I love to shit on GW2 and its fantards, anyone who wrote all this REEEEEEEEEing about 'wokeshit' has likely bailed out of GW1 by the end of the second expansion.
The entirety of Guild Wars: Nightfall featured three distinct black kingdoms, two of which made Ascalon look like a glorified renaissance fair in terms of technology, military and engineering. And I don't remember anyone getting triggered over it back then.
But as soon as GW2 shat out its revisitation of Elona, it had been met with cries of 'wokeshit!' 'Wakanda!' 'WE WUZ KANGZ!' despite representing LOWER level of development than back in GW1, despite over two centuries having passed since.

because back then black people in games weren't put in to fill out a quota and scream political messages at you.
the only genuinely egregious thing in nightfall was Kormir ascending to godhood after being a useless piece of shit the entire campaign, but that had no political connotations.

Shame that they never integrated armor preview.
And the only fanmade addon that allowed it had been rendered useless with a single maintenance update to GW1's husk.
>Playing Guild Wars beyond the original Guild Wars continuity
GW2 killed GW's story and spirit almost as hard as the more recent WoW expansions killed Warcraft's.
>the lore was and it was still intact in GW2.
Only a moron or a fantard suffering from sunken cost fallacy would believe this to be true.
Like how Anet decided to make god Balthazar into a butthurt extremist, despite the fact that all human gods not named Kormir having already left the world of Tyria BACK IN THE FINAL MISSIONS OF NIGHTFALL!

Then speak about your experience, add screenshots, talk about something. I can say I played it yesterday, and it was the best game ever created, without showing anything that backs my experience remotely up.

I forgot about all this episode unlocks nonsense. That is a valid point and quite daunting for anyone who comes new to the game. Newcomers get fricked over by not getting all this stuff for free, and in my opinion, it should be with buying the expansions.
As for the classes, necro is one of the most fun classes in my opinion. You should also try to play fractals and wvw. Fractals are short progressively harder missions with modifiers. Dungeons+ so to say. And that, if you ever intend to go back to it.
I tried to do wvw, but it was just a zerg fest of silent people running in what i can only presume to be premades in discord and without having the pvp mount i quickly fell behind because even the aoe buff it can shit out isnt enough to keep you up with everyone.
I do intend to go back to it eventually to keep giving it a try, after all theres no subscription and i own all the expansions, but it just really felt like it was sucking the energy out of the room even when playing with friends and I can play some really bad games with friends and still have a decent time normally.
>isnt this game woke as frick?
No but Ganker make it appears to be.
There's a lesbian couple in some part of the story and a trans NPC standing in a city that you never need to talk to, who uses magic to appear as the other gender.
That's pretty much it. I'd call that marketing.
Also Arenanet famously fired some SJW devs.
>There's a lesbian couple in some part of the story
they are with you for all five living world seasons and either together or one or the other for all three expansions. the last one literally ends with an epilogue of them announcing their marriage that you can't skip through.
GW2 is superpozzed but it's not apparent during the free base game. Once you shell out the cash to play the expansions that's where you realize the mistake you've made by giving this company any money to continue shitting up the game.
Nah. Once you get into Heart of Thorns and a bunch of NPC's you've never even seen before start sucking your dick left and right (also apparently you've known them for a while) you realize ANet locked a shitload of critical plot story behind their stupid paywall. The game also does its best to inconvenience you as much as possible at every other turn to squeeze money out of you (inventory, talents, loadouts) while at the same time sucking whale dick by providing them with specially crafted areas for material gathering, VIP zones, etc. Frick this game.
I tried to do wvw, but it was just a zerg fest of silent people running in what i can only presume to be premades in discord and without having the pvp mount i quickly fell behind because even the aoe buff it can shit out isnt enough to keep you up with everyone.

I've only played wvw when teamspeak was still a thing, so quite a while back. People might give you the info on which channel to join, but yes, it must be awful in the age of discord.
To be fair, for all its fault it's such a great MMO when it comes to QoL stuff, it spoiled me so much I refuse to ever play another MMO because I know it won't have half of what made GW2 so comfy to play.
They have the most eyes on them at launch but pretty much every MMO has improved since launch. Now do most MMOs frick up and put out a "Combat Update" like Galaxies or Cataclysm in WoW that starts the game's decline? Yes.
It feels less like a grind specifically because it doesn't have any quest chains that you're forced to follow. You explore, you gather, you stumble upon events, you craft shit and that's how you level.
>respects your time
in what fricking universe? you need to zone complete the entire fricking thing to even start doing anything, and thats per character.
>you need to zone complete the entire fricking thing to even start doing anything
It's completely optional and only necessary for a core legendary weapon which you can buy from the AH anyway. Give some actual points anon.
alright you little frickgoblin lets go over why zone completion is fricking bullshit and glorified ubisoft towers that you NEED to do at minimum on your main beyond a fricking legendary. >Access to various vendors >transmutation charges >10% of a level for each zone you complete >two pieces of gear at the level of the zone >bunch of crafting mats >only source of keys
For a new player zone completion is basically mandatory. and it is fricking TEDIOUS.
You are talking about the base game areas? Fricking worthless then. You can level to 80 anywhere, even in wvw, and get all you need from there too. Keys is only for mtx and not mandatory either.
There is shit loads of stuff locked behind zone completions, for anyone looking to get even remotely deep into the endgame its basically a requirement.
They mean there's actual content to do as soon as you start the game. Versus something like FF14 where the first 50 levels are braindead fetch/talk quests. And there's no real content to do until you reach max level.
the only content there is to do starting out in gw2 is zone completion and that can hardly be considered content. its 5 different flavors of ubisoft towers on a checklist.
Yes, the only early-game content is exploring the world, what a fricking horrible concept for an MMO.
GW2 rewards you for exploring, as opposed to other MMOs that encourage you to just travel from one MSQ to another in order to get to dungeons and raids asap so you can get on the gear treadmill.
If by "rewards you for exploring" you mean "makes you walk to a bunch of ubisoft towers for scraps you NEED to have for endgame" sure.
The game is deeply flawed. The world feels completely hollow for how much they want you to walk around it. The only world design the game has going for it are the fricking jumping puzzles.

Black person are you just skipping all the quests and events? Probably the best thing the game does is lead you around the maps. You will do a heart quest, an event will pop up and lead you to a vista or hero point, then another heart, then another event.
There is always something to do on a map as you are leveling.

No I wasn't skipping events and quests. they're just all the fricking same and by the time I got to sparkfly i was bored out of my skull.
Grow some fricking taste anon, the game was never that good and is only being kept supported thanks to the devs getting a kick in the ass from NCsoft. I've not met a single person who liked doing all of the pointless chores in the overworld. Some of the other anons have already been right on the nose with it even. It was/is Ubishit maps before they became popular, it's just that they are in an MMO instead of a singleplayer game
There is shit loads of stuff locked behind zone completions, for anyone looking to get even remotely deep into the endgame its basically a requirement.
What the frick is that argument. Do you think being forced to do brainless dailies just so you can somewhat keep up with others makes up a good mmo? Then you might like Lost ark.
There's always runescape, that game seems to always go unmentioned when people discuss MMOs. Probably because its a sandbox game and really difficult to get into at first
Would be fun... if it wasn't for the devil's choice: >Perma Pre-searing for life until you grow bored >Move forward and end up turned into a rapefugee so destitute that even fantasy Africa looks hospitable
>GW2 before Cantha 2.0 >Humans are not allowed to be more industrious and developed than other species, because they are just that stupid and hollow >GW2 on the eve of Anet rimjobbing their Korean overlords by turning Cantha into fantasy worst Korea >Suddenly humans are capable of building such marvels that leave even Asura speechless
Nice 'integrity' there.
>haha i'm gonna ignore all existing points against the game's blatant libshit writing >please create a new 5 page essay with a 4 hour youtube documentation specifically for THIS THREAD right now because i refuse to accept existing examples
i will not play troony mmos

i will not give money or play troony mmos pretending to be a sequel one of my favorite mmos
>play your way
okay ill play a warrior tank....wait what do you mean warrior tanks isint viable... okay then guardian tan- no? then what is the main tank in this mmo?......wait you serious? a magican cloth class is the main tank?
its not what i call a main mmo like wow/ffxiv. has content out there for everyone, just need to find it. usually the game has no direction other than story and achievements
It's not the worst MMO around, but it's far from the best. It suffers heavily from Anets incompetence and shit story but it can be fun if to dick around in from time to time regardless
I actually really understand if you hate GW2 because you expected it to be a true sequel to GW1. You are right, the games are very different from each other, especially the PVP.
But in on itself the PVP in 2 is not bad by any means, I dare say that it's even fun
Instanced PVP and WVW can be very frustrating if you have 0 idea of what you are doing.
I recommend people try WvW at first so they can get a taste of the game since the PVP in it is quite braindead and basically comes down to who has the most numbers.
Actually last time I tried WvW was quite dead for some reason. I really miss when edge of the mists (If that's even what it was called) was the most popular WvW since it was a small simple map with a whole lot of people, sadly it's dead nowadays
there was so much hype surrounding this game before/during its release period. almost everyone from my friend group was excited for this game, and it sucked so hard everybody quit within the first month. its a zombie mmo being kept alive by F2P third worlders. no thanks. I picked it up again a few years ago to play with a girl i was dating and the most populated content was dudes running around in some desert digging up sand so they could grab some type of currency. people were literally playing the game so they could dig virtual dirt. enough said. i can promise whatever content they've churned out since has not been worth it.
You guys gotta sell me on this "horizontal progression" bullshit. To me, the idea of getting max level and getting the best gear in the base game and then NEVER GROWING STRONGER EVER AGAIN seems like an absolutely idiotic thing to build an mmo around
oh you definitely grow stronger. just through autistic grinds and earning points to spend on seemingly superfluous perks that turn out to be a fricking nightmare to not have, such as autolooting, or being able to even use mounts, or drop rates.
because there are items and enchantments and shit that drop in premium currency locked zones that sell for more than gold cap and having any influence on the drop rate of them is a big fricking deal since you can buy pretty much anything you want in this game by swiping for gold.
>To me, the idea of getting max level and getting the best gear in the base game and then NEVER GROWING STRONGER EVER AGAIN seems like an absolutely idiotic thing to build an mmo around
Except it does work - even with your level hitting a plateau fast enough, you still need to master actually playing your class and obtaining bits and pieces to flesh out your gameplay model, all while knowing that one day you might have to start building your gameplay from scratch once either the meta changes or you simply learn more about the game.
It is good due to you not being forced to grind on an endless treadmill. Everyone is equal in strength past a certain point, at least gear wise. You can also just pause the game and come back later without being left behind like in homosexual games that raise the level bar by five points.
The grind to ascended and legendary gear is not short. Unless you are following guides you are probably playing for a couple hundred hours to get a fully ascended set.
After that you are playing for mastery points which are mainly QoL but some are necessary to navigate expansion maps. Most of the end game content (fractals, raids, strikes) have some form of tiered difficulty so you are playing the game for the fun and challenge rather than farming a different version of your sword for a 1.25% increase to your dps.
Also PvP and WvW
There's of course cosmetic stuff, achievements, titles, and that bullshit as well.

lmao i wonder what got him so pissed off
the bot was turned off almost exactly three (3) years ago and no one knows why
the general is ded because its got its own non-bot spammers taking up half the space and the lack of new content since the expansion leaves nothing to discuss other than spoonfeeding "new" players answers to their questions
About once every six months to a year I log in, make an alt, fly around on the Griffon and Skyscale for a bit, then frick off. Other than that the game is largely trash after level 30. and up to that point it's questionably decent at best.
>loved turning my brain off and playing wvw >buffing and cleasing hundreds of morons >managing to escape zergs that are hyperfocused on killing you >going solo and annoying the frick out of the enemy >have to buy the chinky expac if I ever want to do it again
it hurts bros. What other MMOs let me join pvp matches with hundreds of morons?
Naw. The game's balanced enough that you don't need the new mastery classes to play well. The only time it happened was with Firebrand and Scourge. But that's only for those classes. Even then, you can still get by pretty well with the base classes. Some classes are better than others, but it isn't the same as going into a battleground on WoW with no PVP armor against someone with full. At least you have a fighting chance with a standard class or off-meta class.
I don't think they did did they? I think that anon is saying that if you don't have the expansion you can't use mounts and without mounts you can't keep up with the death ball
HOW THE FRICK do they expect to draw in new players when you can't even start the story from the beginning, and instead are thrown in the middle of events you know nothing about?
Yes, especially with the newest expansion, but it's not only limited to that.
Story of the previous expansion was basically muh refugees and white man bad, and the one before that was something about salad lives mattering or something.
Anyway, the Scralet is quite old villain, dating to before launch of the first DLC, and devs just can't stop sucking her stronk and independent ladywiener at every turn.
Anyways, the point is they have been woke for a looong while now, and it's not just limited to latest expansion or it's story.
they just made a change so that paid accounts will automatically get a raptor at level 10.
if you're on a free account you will get a 10-hour raptor license at level 10
this game without mounts is unplayable now, you need a mount for the map dailies or it will be impossible to catch the other players doing the map events
you unlock the raptor mount as it is when you unlock it after doing the heart in the PoF prologue mission. you don't have the extended distance movement skill or anything for it yet. you don't get those automatically, so you still have to go to PoF maps and grind events and exploration for mastery xp and mastery points at level 80 to work on it.
you won't get nearly as far, just as you wouldn't with the base glider without any of its upgrades.
mounts don't really help that much with HoT since most of it is either super vertical or cave mazes. mounts are just a slightly improved glider for that shit
I was a pretty big GW1 fan and pre-ordered. It was a huge disappointment.
Not an uncommon story with this game, I think.
I've come back to it again and again trying to like the game but they make it so hard. The game is just fundamentally flawed and there's so many terrible design decisions.
For one thing, you might as well forget about trying to earn cool armor through ingame activities. Just buy an outfit, they look significantly better than anything you can earn through playing.
>Can I use my current Guild Wars 2 account to log into the game through Steam? >No, if you have a Guild Wars 2 account which was created through the Guild Wars 2 website, you cannot log into it through Steam and vice versa.
genuinely, how moronic can you be? they didn't implement the only feature that would have brought existing players back to the game, holy shit
It's not a steam issue, XIV used to allow you to login on whatever client you wanted. Square just didn't allow you to buy keys from outside the "store" you created your account on.
They only went back on this when assmongoloid failed to understand how their (shitty) account system worked
Do you even get tired of posting this out dated image, outdated-chan?
Anyone turning on the game can see that Arenanet reduced the breast sizes years ago so you will not be seeing such blatant udders anymore.
Becuase people play XIV but no one plays GW2 outside of the diehard fenatics that have already been playing the game for the past 5+ years of their lives
I spent the first 2 years of Guild Wars 2 on World vs World then quit.
When I look at the Leaderboards from time to time and I see Blackgate on top 3 every time it makes me happy. I was there following the commanders' orders on comms. Blackgate also was the world first Tequatl Rising kill.
is it just the launcher being added? because downloading the game fricking sucks dick. if i can uninstall/reinstall it entirely through steam i would actually play it again
Because they desperately need money. EOD was a flop and all the new maps were fricking empty ON THE FIRST WEEK, (there has been multiple different copes for this, Anet isolating everyone to their own layer, servers size being lowered to 10 players, new games coming out at the same time, new wow 6 months deal, a fricking twitch event for BDO/world of warships ect) and they didn't recover. Some time ago I tried to get a event train going but never got more than 3 people, despite advertising it on all channels and even begging /vg/ gays to log on
https://arch.b4k.co/vg/thread/389707757/#q389905678
But none came.
Whatever the reason is, fact remains you hardly ever see another player, and this results in the "frick, this game is dead" vibe, which in turn results in people, especially new players (that haven't had time to spend all they can on the cash shop for living world story unlocks/cometics/consumables/infinite use items/rng catcha boxes(for mount skins and gameplay altering conveniences, such as unlimited access to player auction from anywhere/verdors ect ect))
i wouldn't, which is why i asked if it could be installed directly through steam. their launcher, for whatever reason, takes ten thousand years to update the game which always puts me off from reinstalling it.
>want to play GW2 every now and then >account got hacked and is on an email I no longer have access to and ANet has been incompetent at helping me recover over ~5 tries
Frick paying for this mid game again, but I do miss jumping in there from time to time.
I recall this game being moronicly easy and solo-focused.
Like, literally zero reason to ever group up with another player, and literally nothing in the open world is designed to provide any challenge.
I recall it not even having a proper class system.
They lost a lot of players cause they amped up the difficulty when Heart of Thorns came out, so it's no longer the fact. They've done a bit of balancing the challenge now but it still can get hard if you don't know what you're doing. Heart of Thorns was some of the most fun I had on the game though. Casuals getting bombarded by 2-shotting dragons in a normal meta event while carrying eggs was some of the funniest shit I've seen.
It's funny that so many MMO devs (and even devs in general) swing so wildy in the opposite direction once shit starts hitting the fan >W-what do you mean our players are leaving since 80% of the game are map events that are so easy and boring that it boreas people too tears? >QUICK! BUFF EVERYTHING! >I DON'T GIVE A FRICK IF PEOPLE STARTS TO GET ONESHOTTED BY EVEN JUST BASIC EVENTS JUST BUFF THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!
It's weird that "proffesional" developers never seem to be able to strike a balance between too easy and too hard
Well, that's sort of my point. The devs never teaches their players how to play their fricking game by ramping up difficulty as the player progresses, instead the game is piss easy until you hit a wall. It's not just a GW2 thing, its a general MMO thing since there isn't a SINGLE MMO that does it right.
I've been "playing" gw2 since release. GW2 definitely has the best open world from all mmos, when new map comes out or new dlc each map is really cool and has it's own event and currency. The story is ok, not perfect but good enough and has continuity. The issue is after you farmed the frick out of new maps and had your fun with people there is no progress in the endgame. All you are left with is farming gold to buy skins and high end fractals/raids/strikes are heavily gated by sweaty nerds that want you to take legit 2 weeks of training before letting you touch it. I did all raids trikes couple of times and did fractals back in the past but it's just the same gatekeeping nerds you have to plan the party with so it's boring and stale. Never tried pvp seriously so can't say anything about that.
My over 10 years with gw2 look like that: new map /dlc comes out, I no life all currencies and events for like 2-3 weeks. Max everything, gets bored and leave the game. Wait another 4 months for new map or story to come out(or even more), repeat.
The base game is free, yes. The first two expansion bundled together are $30, and the last expansion is also $30.
Release HoT was fun as frick, I remember getting oneshot by random archers in the first map, or by invisible frogs in the second one. It was so hard it brought the entire community together, what a great experience.
My first attack on Tarir was probably one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in videogames, it's a shame no other MMO ever tried to replicate GW2's "map-wide chain events that reset ever hour" system.
The only thing that got me through the story in XIV is that it picked up dramastically from Heavensward going forward, is it the same case here or is it really forgettable ? Game looks cool aside from that, seems to have more focus on PVE than PVP
GW2s story is so shit that it has almost killed the game atleast twice now on it's own. If you want to play GW2 for the story then do yourself a favor and quit right fricking now to save your own sanity, only the first parts of it are sort of decent and the rest is locked behind paywalls, so even if the story was good it wouldn't be worth the trouble.
Heavansward was the last expansion I fully completed. I feel like the game was expecting me to give a shit about that literal who dying a lot more than I actually did. Between that and the dragon weeb I thought I was going to break my neck rolling my eyes as hard as I did over the writing.
So I just played a little one year ago but didn't have time. Will they give away all the paid missions for free on steam? I don't have anything on my main account except some freebies, so I wouldn't care starting fresh.
gw2 seems like a pain in the ass for current mmo addicts who play different mmo, is it because they're afraid or because they pretend have something better
Had 500 hours on it, played until the second expansion came and dropped it after. World completion, mixed with the jeremy SOUL music, is the best thing about it. Did they finally kill that homosexual Braham?
Can I make a steam account, level a character and just take all my items from my OG account. I remember this game being pretty fun when it came out. I liked the platforming shit lol
>dick ridding a game that lied and abused it's players >makes you a npc in the half way mark of the original story >broken promises out the ass
Most sane people left after year 2
I mean that's one of the key concepts of a MMO
They literally decided to make a fan fiction rush the story leave the end game dead only to start on that failure know as wildstar something everyone was against which lead to a already disappointed playerbase leaving
I think you mingle different developers together that were under one publisher? Arenanet didn't develop wildstar, but I agree on the point that they neglected the game for too long, or specific sections of the game. And their first living world was quite aimless, but fun at times.
Is this a good MMO if I can only put in like 5-6 hours a week?
Does it play well with steam deck? Not looking for anything amazing but would like it to be playable to the point you can farm shit. not do group stuff
How active is this?
My only experience is with WoW and that was ok when it was first out for the first few expansions but seems to be dwindling now with the realms being mostly dead
I tried FFXIV but didn't like it but that shit was pumping with players
Also am in Yorup and only speak English
there is no live counter showing how many players there are at any given time and anet refuses to say how many people log in on the daily.
the only number they ever give out is overall sales of the game and of expansions, never active player counts to the hour of any given day.
i think its pretty active, cant say for certain but i did read this article saying that gw2 is booming right now.
I havnt touched this game in awhile but last time i played, it was pretty populated in WVW.
FF14's population is a bit of a lie, because the base game is completely free for anyone to try and long-time players tend to hang out in starting cities. Most people never go past the base game, Heavensward was a complete desert back when I tried it. I never went past the first expansion, but I assume the same goes for all the other expansions except the latest one.
Why are there so many people talking about how great XIV for this game or for any MMO for that matter that XIV is bought up?
16 times xiv has been mentioned in this thread is this some sort of inferiority complex or something like that?
BASED >WoW subscription cucks seething >FFXIV subscription cucks seething
Here is a straight fact:
If you have bought GW2 with all three expansions, no matter when, no matter the price, YOU HAD TO PAY ZERO ADDITIONAL CENTS... FOR THE WHOLE 10 YEARS OF GW!
That's right. WoW cucks had to pay $15x12x10= $1800(!) plus tip plus expansion plus golden pig for the same time, while a GW2 Chad had only to spend BaseGame+Expension1+Expension2+Expension3 for everything. Even the cash shop is 100 % available with in game currency. If you know how to farm, you never have to swipe your credit card like in WoW.
Just face it, the GW2 model is god tier if you don't want to waste money for a real AAA mmo.
Unironically, if GW2 had Female Night Elves with cute feet, I would easily give this game a 100/10.
Literally the only reason I stopped playing the game after nearly a decade was that you only have the chance between rat, furry, manlet, Chad, and salad body type. You have no idea how much I want FemNelves with an area like Teldrassil of WoW.
wasn't guild wars a 4 player thing?
how is that a fricking mmorpg?
about 4 people play the game, yeah
FRICK YEAH FFXIV IS FINISHED AHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Definition of a dense moron.
Controller support?
Can you link accounts?
no (lmao)
nope
yes
What's even the point if you can't
dont care, still playing guild wars 1.
Do I need to repurchase the expansions if i already paid for them? might reinstall for the lols
Who's that titan thing around 0:12?
It's a giant, a basic enemy even is some have a rank.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Champion_Giant
somehow cant remember it
A giant. There is a big event involving one in the Charr starter zones and they pop up in other areas as well.
why would anyone care
the literal only people who play MMOs through gabenet are morons and casuals that will play for a few hours and then move on to something else
Steam drones are mentally ill
They hype a free game coming to their DRM launcher when you can get it free already
will it have DRM on steam? that'd be pretty weird.
homie steam itself is literally drm currently
most games on steam i bought in the last 2 years require that i download 3rd party software, that doesn't work. i have a folder full of titles that won't launch, won't activate, don't work. they are all modern games. there is no point in offering to sell me the game on a ~~*sale*~~ if i'm only allowed to install it and never actually run it. don't lie and say it's "on steam" if i need proprietary 3rd party software that stays online and steals my information to work. that's fraud, your system literally doesn't play the game you said it would.
>buy this new chevy blazer
>give me your social security number or the keys don't work
have a nice day
>getting mad at others for something Valve allowed
Valve drones everyone
captcha: kys8k
>Gw2
>free
Might want to check what free means in this instance, buddy.
Just a word of warning to any potential new players, when you buy the full game you only get half of it, all the post game content they call "living world" where the bulk of the content is and were the dragon mount is hidden, is sold separately and with gems so you have to overspend to get them all.
This game grind for gold is fricking insane. Also, good luck with all the time gated bullshit.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/studio-update-guild-wars-2-tenth-anniversary-and-steam-launch-on-august-23/
they forgot to mention that all the 3 founders of the company quit and it's arenanet in name only.
Managerial assimilation complete.
>arenanet in name only
sounds like every company out there ever
>how do companies work?
Fail, you mean.
its a dam shame bro the GW devs were very passionate i heard stories about dudes trying there best during GW2 development to ignore the woke colored hairs the company kept hiring but they all left one by one
Free mount skin, huh. That's neat. I wonder what's gonna be in the 10 year birthday present, I got a character from launch.
Faolain, head of the thorn dudes.
There's another pain of lesbeens in the later parts too.
Among other stuff.
Oh yeah! I forgot about Faolain. There was also gay dudes that Bursalac or however you spell his name abused.
Not just lesbian, her lover is from Nightmare Court
>This shit is still alive?
yes, the game that was going to be dead within a month after its release according to Ganker is still alive 10 years later.
it was doing so well it went free to play.
>it was doing so well it went free to play.
With three paid expansions and a a fourth planned.
>doing so well
>needs MEGA SERVERS
> it'll be dead in two weeks
>SQUANDER MILLIONS ON ESPORTS
haha
Their population has doubled in the last 3 years. End of Dragons expansion sold more than Path of Fire.
So it is growing. Not at FF14 levels but it ain't dying.
Many upskirt opportunities removed finally.
>steam
enjoy the concurrent player shitposting I guess
I only play games which are popular on twitch, steam charts are only secondary deciding factor.
Yea that pretty much going to be the normal now, no idea why moron reply to shitposters when they bring up twitch and stream numbers
nice try gay, but it's still valid when it's a multiplayer game. Now post more player counts for months old singleplayer games and pretend it's the same thing.
>re-releasing an old MMO on Steam
I'm ready to settle down moment.
On the flip side, the dykes they have are hot I suppose. I'm anticipating they'll progress to shapeless bulldykes next though
>"the game that REDFINED MMORPGS"
>focus on map clearing/event running
>shit story
>boring combat tied to weapons and weapon switching
>best mount system in an MMO by far
>unfortunately all the cool stuff is locked behind the fricking mastery grind
>horizontal progression meaning once you get your ascended gear, you're done unless you want to autistically min/max
That's why I explore the newest maps when a new expansion drops, play for a month or two, and then completely quit the game.
ascended gear ruined everything, its unfun garbage
>no catgirls
enough reasons for me not to play this game
There are catgirls. Only issue is that they're more cat than girls.
ffxiv won
>muh story
Frick off troony
wanting a decent to goodish story in a game that wants me to spend a gorillion hours playing it makes me a troony? I'll give GW2 credit for the fact that you're not the "Chosen One" that most MMORPG's use but goddamn the story overall isn't anything to write home about.
Must not be doing well if they are launching it on steam too.
Game is doing well IMO, it's just a minimal effort way for more players.
LMAO
LOL
>Friend of mine tried his hardest to hype up GW2s latest expansion before release since most of the people in our friend group are all MMO junkies and were desperate to find some other timewaster to ruin their life with after WoW took a nosedive a year ago
>Tries to hype up the story for some fricking reason
>It works since I was the only person in the group that had played and quit GW2 close to release, so I knew what a shitshow the game was and how it has failed to improve when I gave it another shot around the 2nd expansion release
>All of the people who gave it a shot quit GW2 before even reaching max level or reaching the end of the new expansion
>My friend who tried so hard to shill GW2 for free got so god damned dissapointed after buying the most expensive version of the expansion that he sold his account
Both the players and the devs themselves must have realised this, otherwise the "roadmap" that they made a year ago wouldn't have been treated like it did by the community.
>last original arenanet director and founder leaves company before latest expansion
>trannies take over again

I was thinking about trying the game again buying the expansions this time

Be sure to leave a negative review my bros. WoW, FF14, Lost Ark unite.
The best reason to play GW 2 is to play a human male and romance norn females.
Norn women is the only reason to log in for a few minutes
hoping we get a GW1 sale need to buy some bank slots ect...
God I love Norn girls.
Maybe I should get back into the game with all these QoL updates.
she cute
very muscular but I'd let her reverse rape me if you know what I mean
Guild Wars 2 is shit, just buy Guild Wars 1 which is already on Steam and has better gameplay, store, and art direction.
I'm still mad that GW2 didn't borrow more from GW1. It barely even feels like the same world.
@609208350

Damn
Not my character, I just thought she looked neat and there's hardly any good norn girl fanart to be found.
all good that norn is hot as frick and inspired me to play the game
Wow its on a different launcher now. How is this hype?
10 years and they still struggle at making trailers
Wish I had the time to come back to it.
wdym? It's the epitome of casual MMO
Invest in GW1 kino instead
I will now play your game
holy based that means we can doompost about the player numbers through steamcharts
it's only going to be new players
You're can't play the steam version if you already have an account.
Dropped
Why do they do this? It's years too late, who even cares anymore
I genuinely cannot comprehend the stupidity of corps and devs who don't grasp that you have to release your shit on steam immediately, you cannot do it years later like a dumbass and hope it will magically work out
If the game is doing fine by itself there's no reason to release it on steam, it's only when you're ready to give 30% to gaben for the sake a dragging in new players that it becomes worth it
dragging in new players who drop it after 1 hour
>If the game is doing fine by itself there's no reason to release it on steam, it's only when you're ready to give 30% to gaben for the sake a dragging in new players that it becomes worth it
It's getting 0 new players, nobody gives a frick at this point anon. So again, why bother. If it's doing well by itself, stay that way.
Which is basically zero people anon.
Anything that comes out on steam even years later is like a new release for a ton of players, of course it's going to drag in new people.
>Which is basically zero people anon
Perfect time to put it on Steam then its going to give them extra money regardless and hopefully revitalize the player base
They didnt want steam to get 30% of their profit for 10 years when the only difference is the launcher. They put it on steam just to get some money from the diehard steam fans who shits on any game but praise it when it gets on steam.
Why does it matter? Its way past its shelf life where bringing new players is pretty much never going to happen.
Why would you play this 10 year old garbage when you have Lost Ark which is new and proven to be a good mmo?
lost ark is 2 bosses, with a money extraction system built around it.
Is the emphasis still on dailies?
Dead game for trannies
t. final trantasy player
you cannot be seriously trying to pull that with the dev team and story direction your game takes. should be renamed to white guilt wars.
Why click on threads of games you don't like? Outrage addicted, or just moronic?
Because I was giving the game a chance two months ago. Why shouldn't I be able to enter a thread about a game I recently played?
To make trannies like you seethe
They are terminally online, anon. They browse Ganker all day every day. You have in every threads in gw2 more often since most of them are gw1tards seething to this day (10 years)
I'd like to draw your attention away from your bullshit cope post to right here
since I got no replies since I was actually playing the game recently and immediately got ignored once your tribalism autism was no longer a valid rebuttal to what I say.
How about you link the post with actual criticsm you frickin moron?
ah yes let me just break the laws of reality and retroactively go back in time to before I made my follow up post addressing my grievances with the game, just for you.
Do it, I'm waiting.
alright here I go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'd like to draw your attention away from your bullshit cope post to right here>
since I got no replies since I was actually playing the game recently and immediately got ignored once your tribalism autism was no longer a valid rebuttal to what I say.
Because gw2 needs to know its place.
GW1 is better.
Welp, time to make a new character and play through Proph. again.
there is guild halls since 2015, please remove or somewhat change that one
He's a moron who just seethes and bathes in nostalgia for gw1. That fricking homosexual will spam the same stale and outdated material in every gw2 thread.
as requested.
Rage for the sake of rage. Utterly boring and snoozing.
as requested
Bravo outdated anon, bravo. Literally a Karen tier behaviour.
By the way, the story went to hell in GW1 with eye of the north. And it had massive cheese pop-cultural references that flew over your head. I seriously don't get how you can glorify the story in gw1 that much.
>downboat!!
So, you are just going to spam the same shit over and over again without forming an own thought?
tl;dr
PRAISE JOKO
>And I don't remember anyone getting triggered over it back then.
because back then black people in games weren't put in to fill out a quota and scream political messages at you.
the only genuinely egregious thing in nightfall was Kormir ascending to godhood after being a useless piece of shit the entire campaign, but that had no political connotations.
To be fair, back when GW2 released, the Russians hadn't had time to radicalize so many gullible idiots on the left and right like they have now.
Z
>woke
stopped reading there, learn some fricking vocabulary
Shame that they never integrated armor preview.
And the only fanmade addon that allowed it had been rendered useless with a single maintenance update to GW1's husk.
still mad 10 years later, thanks anet
Jinx, get under the desk.
i always thought that was some kind of raven but now i see its some spooky ghost, lmao
love the skill icons
I would play again but don't have op tier equipment to solo campaigns.
>bash the bigot
WE DID IT REDDIT
the game was released a decade ago on pc. are you all mentally moronic?
>Playing Guild Wars beyond the original Guild Wars continuity
GW2 killed GW's story and spirit almost as hard as the more recent WoW expansions killed Warcraft's.
GW1 story wasn't that great, the lore was and it was still intact in GW2.
>the lore was and it was still intact in GW2.
Bigot status?
why did they fire that lead dev that they told reddit wasn't the lead dev?
Will you ever not be the victim here?
Then speak about your experience, add screenshots, talk about something. I can say I played it yesterday, and it was the best game ever created, without showing anything that backs my experience remotely up.
>Will you ever not be the victim here?
I AM A SURVIVOR
I do intend to go back to it eventually to keep giving it a try, after all theres no subscription and i own all the expansions, but it just really felt like it was sucking the energy out of the room even when playing with friends and I can play some really bad games with friends and still have a decent time normally.
>guy spends more than 5 words explaining why he dislikes the game
>effectively ignored, like all the images posted
sasuga
it's always funny seeing people shrug off this mmo then asking WoW to be turned into its exact copy without knowing it already exists
Will GW2 suddenly become good because it releases on the graveyard of mmos?

dead dead dead
More like Guild Woes 2
isnt this game woke as frick?
>isnt this game woke as frick?
No but Ganker make it appears to be.
There's a lesbian couple in some part of the story and a trans NPC standing in a city that you never need to talk to, who uses magic to appear as the other gender.
That's pretty much it. I'd call that marketing.
Also Arenanet famously fired some SJW devs.
>There's a lesbian couple in some part of the story
they are with you for all five living world seasons and either together or one or the other for all three expansions. the last one literally ends with an epilogue of them announcing their marriage that you can't skip through.
There are black characters and lesbians that have a few minutes of screen time in the dozens of hours of story content.
So according to Ganker it is irredeemable woke garbage.
Trannies, bigots, powerful women and incompetent men, yeah that fits.
What's this site?
i think it's called mechanical turk
Yep. BLACKED single mother, little mary sue girl that is the bestest in everything, stronk brave lesbians, trannies. It's pure garbage.
Yep, lot of bigots need bashing in here
>Have no interest in the story past your race arc
>Rytlock appears
>Have interest until he fricks off
Great game
is this any better than bdo? i got bdo for free back then.
GW2 is superpozzed but it's not apparent during the free base game. Once you shell out the cash to play the expansions that's where you realize the mistake you've made by giving this company any money to continue shitting up the game.
3rd hand opinion
So?
I've only played wvw when teamspeak was still a thing, so quite a while back. People might give you the info on which channel to join, but yes, it must be awful in the age of discord.
>So?
if the gay community can shove it's pp down a users throat, why can't the straight community do the same?
you already do that just simply existing
I DO NOT RAPE WITH MY EYES OR WHISTLE AT FEMALES OK?
90% of all visible romance on screen or in video games is straight though.
Well I don't know in what world you live and what you're implying with that pic but I don't see Arenanet banning an LGBT community event.
Reminder that /ourguy/ gave it a 10/10, don't listen to the demoralization shills.
To be fair, for all its fault it's such a great MMO when it comes to QoL stuff, it spoiled me so much I refuse to ever play another MMO because I know it won't have half of what made GW2 so comfy to play.
This review was made when the game was released. MMOs notoriously peak during the launch and it's all downhill from there.
Literally no MMO was best at launch.
They have the most eyes on them at launch but pretty much every MMO has improved since launch. Now do most MMOs frick up and put out a "Combat Update" like Galaxies or Cataclysm in WoW that starts the game's decline? Yes.
lol no. GW2 had massive problems from day one, and everyone knew it.
This homosexual gave Two Worlds 2 a 7/10 and Risen 1 a 1/10 every sort of ranking from him gets immediately discarted
Are you trying to get that pajeet shitposter in here?
I want to see how much worse can this thread get.
Get vidya buttholes dude on the phone.
What's his name again?
Looks like a normal GW2 day
This game doesn't have any questing and pve feels like an endless grind.
It feels less like a grind specifically because it doesn't have any quest chains that you're forced to follow. You explore, you gather, you stumble upon events, you craft shit and that's how you level.
i wanted to try it when it comes to steam but FFXIV 6.2 comes out on the same day so... lol. maybe later
Does this actually mean anything at all?
no, you cant even link your old account. its completely pointless.
Game looks ugly.
Did they add controller support? Would love to go back to it with it.
go play call of duty
Despite its problems still the best mmorpg in the market that somewhat respects your time for an mmo.
>t. played ff14, wow, TESO, Lost Fart
>respects your time
in what fricking universe? you need to zone complete the entire fricking thing to even start doing anything, and thats per character.
>you need to zone complete the entire fricking thing to even start doing anything
>Access to various vendors
>transmutation charges
>10% of a level for each zone you complete
>two pieces of gear at the level of the zone
>bunch of crafting mats
>only source of keys
For a new player zone completion is basically mandatory. and it is fricking TEDIOUS.
You are talking about the base game areas? Fricking worthless then. You can level to 80 anywhere, even in wvw, and get all you need from there too. Keys is only for mtx and not mandatory either.
What? That doesn't sound right or how I remember it. are you working on 100% the game? Teleporters should be unlocked account wide though.
>OTHER MMO BAD
>Therefore
>MY MMO GOOD
Grow some fricking taste anon, the game was never that good and is only being kept supported thanks to the devs getting a kick in the ass from NCsoft. I've not met a single person who liked doing all of the pointless chores in the overworld. Some of the other anons have already been right on the nose with it even. It was/is Ubishit maps before they became popular, it's just that they are in an MMO instead of a singleplayer game
lies to demoralize new players
what new players?
>MMO
>respects your time
then it's a shit mmo
What the frick is that argument. Do you think being forced to do brainless dailies just so you can somewhat keep up with others makes up a good mmo? Then you might like Lost ark.
>forced to do brainless dailies
you are so lost... mmos used to be better than this and they still didn't give a frick about "respecting" your time
> using outdated webms from beta versions to shit on a game.
Typical Ganker behavior.
Beat up the BIGOT
Do it NOW
why is it every fricking MMO is dogshit
they're all fricking amusement parks filled with troonys
the only decently one was maplestory
Because they all try to be 'wow but with a twist'
Since wow has always been shit the end result can't be any different.
There's always runescape, that game seems to always go unmentioned when people discuss MMOs. Probably because its a sandbox game and really difficult to get into at first
The only reason to play GW2 is for Femsuras, but even that loses its charm after awhile.
Do people still play RA in gw1? Or AB? Those were some good times, healing ritualist is the shit
i quit logging in. it hurts too much.
AB is played on Fridays IIRC, Fort Asswood on the weekend evenings (burger time), JQ is pretty much always active but filled with bots.
Still not playing your feminist troony garbage.
I like the OST tho
was it done by jeremy soule? i know the original login theme or whatever at launch was
Na, these all are from other composers. I like them but Jeremy Soule is still the king.
think they fired that rapist
american culture is so fricking toxic its unreal
>Found not guilty in all cases
>Career still ruined
Epic
Deserved it for not speaking immediately, homie waited a year before the wokeness dried out.
*blocks your path*
ANIKI!
the only half decent looking race in gw2
Commander, I'd like to have a word with you
Come home, Ascalonian.
Would be fun... if it wasn't for the devil's choice:
>Perma Pre-searing for life until you grow bored
>Move forward and end up turned into a rapefugee so destitute that even fantasy Africa looks hospitable
>Only for new accounts
lmao, what a terrible decision
I dont think the base game is worth leveling through, anyone new should get the later expansions for better zones
It's trash, it will release on steam like the many trash f2p MMOs and nobody will notice it
>thread is all about hurr durr its trash with 0 arguments and muh wokeshit
You guys are so worthless.
so's your game
>GW2 before Cantha 2.0
>Humans are not allowed to be more industrious and developed than other species, because they are just that stupid and hollow
>GW2 on the eve of Anet rimjobbing their Korean overlords by turning Cantha into fantasy worst Korea
>Suddenly humans are capable of building such marvels that leave even Asura speechless
Nice 'integrity' there.
>haha i'm gonna ignore all existing points against the game's blatant libshit writing
>please create a new 5 page essay with a 4 hour youtube documentation specifically for THIS THREAD right now because i refuse to accept existing examples
frick you forever
Don't like to hear the truth about your woke garbage?
i never liked fanctions. you level up so insanely quickly at the beginning and half the campaign is stuck in chinktown
I never liked you.
the professions are fun tho. way better than dervish and paragon
I always liked the middle eastern style of GW, but I'm not sure how big it is? Is it an expansion or just a zone?
>xiv Black personhomosexuals shitting the thread because gw2 isnt a visual novel like ff14
Pathetic
i will not play troony mmos
i will not give money to troony mmos
i will not give money or play troony mmos pretending to be a sequel one of my favorite mmos
>play your way
okay ill play a warrior tank....wait what do you mean warrior tanks isint viable... okay then guardian tan- no? then what is the main tank in this mmo?......wait you serious? a magican cloth class is the main tank?
On the flip side, this thread is less dead than /gw2g/
Never played GW2. Give it to me raw is it a meme mmo or a nice game to have on your pc? Only veterans reply thanks.
its somewhere in the middle but it leans far more towards meme.
its not what i call a main mmo like wow/ffxiv. has content out there for everyone, just need to find it. usually the game has no direction other than story and achievements
It's not the worst MMO around, but it's far from the best. It suffers heavily from Anets incompetence and shit story but it can be fun if to dick around in from time to time regardless
Is this like a fresh start server thing? I'd be interested if I can start from the first stories
I mean the Living Worlds. Is this starting from Season 1?
PVP in this game is actually really fun
Feels unbalanced sometimes but it's still fun
one of the biggest reasons i despise gw2 is because pvp in gw1 was perfect, it was an esport before esports were a thing
I actually really understand if you hate GW2 because you expected it to be a true sequel to GW1. You are right, the games are very different from each other, especially the PVP.
But in on itself the PVP in 2 is not bad by any means, I dare say that it's even fun
is the game worth getting into just for pvp? i played it for like 200h on release and never even tried pvp
Why would you care about drop rates if the gear never gets stronger
because there are items and enchantments and shit that drop in premium currency locked zones that sell for more than gold cap and having any influence on the drop rate of them is a big fricking deal since you can buy pretty much anything you want in this game by swiping for gold.
...but why care if the gear never gets stronger?
endgame is collecting skins.
It really do be a trans game
because the entire endgame is fashion and nothing more.
There's of course cosmetic stuff, achievements, titles, and that bullshit as well.
https://massivelyop.com/2019/10/10/guild-wars-2-studio-arenanet-chased-the-2016-gaile-gray-account-hacker-all-the-way-to-germany-and-lost/

what? tldr?
Wars 2 studio ArenaNet chased the 2016 Gaile Gray account hacker all the way to Germany – and lost
Ah I see.
>/gw2g/ still dead as a dodo
I'LL BET THE XIV Black folk DID THIS
Did even the bot spammer stop? lmao shit game, shit playerbase, shit general, dead troony gaem
/gw2g/ died because of the autistic US guild and their constant namedropping, and their furry spammers
Meanwhile the EU guild was making a name for itself
>nothing ever happened
>u don't have any pics
>pics of what?
Frick, thanks for posting this again. I lost my old hard drive and all the good guild wars 2 stuff with it.
>and their furry spammers
Oh, those were the fun times.
Basically /gw2g/ served as a containment for a tumor so malignant that it threatened to kill every general that GW2 players would flock to in an attempt to escape the automated shitposting.
Wait I remember this, I think
I'm not even a GW2 but I remember the general being taken over by an that would just pull posts from all over
Yep, it was the gw2Black folk that fled their cancerous general and tried to infest Ganker and other generals. Like the libshits they throw money at, gw2homosexuals are subhumans.
I miss those times.4cuck was also better back then.
didnt that general die because someone made a bot that always would spam the thread?
lmao i wonder what got him so pissed off
gw2g died because the bot was never turned off you homosexual. it has nothing to do with xiv.
the bot was turned off almost exactly three (3) years ago and no one knows why
the general is ded because its got its own non-bot spammers taking up half the space and the lack of new content since the expansion leaves nothing to discuss other than spoonfeeding "new" players answers to their questions
About once every six months to a year I log in, make an alt, fly around on the Griffon and Skyscale for a bit, then frick off. Other than that the game is largely trash after level 30. and up to that point it's questionably decent at best.
>loved turning my brain off and playing wvw
>buffing and cleasing hundreds of morons
>managing to escape zergs that are hyperfocused on killing you
>going solo and annoying the frick out of the enemy
>have to buy the chinky expac if I ever want to do it again
it hurts bros. What other MMOs let me join pvp matches with hundreds of morons?
Wait, they locked WvWvW behind the lastest expansion pack? Why?
no but I imagine the meta will switch hard into needing the new specs/masteries
Do people get mounts with only the base game ?
Because, beside the art direction, that's the aspect where GW2 is miles better than any other MMO.
they just made a change so that paid accounts will automatically get a raptor at level 10.
if you're on a free account you will get a 10-hour raptor license at level 10
Well better than nothing I guess. But GW2 is definitely not a game where you can feel you've seen most of it with just the base game.
sure, it is a buy 2 play game anon, nobody is trying to make you feel like you've played most of it for free
this game without mounts is unplayable now, you need a mount for the map dailies or it will be impossible to catch the other players doing the map events
That's awful
Imagine ruining the exploration kino that is HoT
>Imagine ruining the exploration kino that is HoT
They get a raptor, the very first mount you get in the very first quest of HoT.
I know, it lets you cross gigantic gaps which HoT maps are full of
you unlock the raptor mount as it is when you unlock it after doing the heart in the PoF prologue mission. you don't have the extended distance movement skill or anything for it yet. you don't get those automatically, so you still have to go to PoF maps and grind events and exploration for mastery xp and mastery points at level 80 to work on it.
you won't get nearly as far, just as you wouldn't with the base glider without any of its upgrades.
mounts don't really help that much with HoT since most of it is either super vertical or cave mazes. mounts are just a slightly improved glider for that shit
lol they are releasing the game on steam the same day FFXIV releases their 6.2 patch content
Wow, that makes TWO events to not give a frick about.
I preordered this game back in 2011, laugh at me bros.....
the league mmo will save us, with playable yordles and yordle sex
It was the last game I ever pre-ordered. I learned my lesson
Nah, I won't. I did as well. And Diablo 3 in the same year. 2012 was the year my excitement for video games died.
I linked my gw1 HoM
>preordered the CE
>pic related
Same bro, same.
I had more fun for years hyping up its release than playing the game.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
>Can I use my current Guild Wars 2 account to log into the game through Steam?
>No, if you have a Guild Wars 2 account which was created through the Guild Wars 2 website, you cannot log into it through Steam and vice versa.
genuinely, how moronic can you be? they didn't implement the only feature that would have brought existing players back to the game, holy shit
nuAnet is full of feminists, anon. What did you expect?
It was the same with ffxiv, probably steam problem which makes me wonder why they even take so long to release the game on steam.
100% not a technical issue, I can guarantee you that
probably payment issue
It's not a steam issue, XIV used to allow you to login on whatever client you wanted. Square just didn't allow you to buy keys from outside the "store" you created your account on.
They only went back on this when assmongoloid failed to understand how their (shitty) account system worked
What the actual frick
why would you want to log in through steam when you can log in perfectly fine through the launcher we already have
>big spenders move to steam, lose a big portion of your reliable income.
hmmm
thief looks like THAT? woah
>bootleg 2b
Give it up, homosexual. Your mediocre waifu bait won't make people play your woke garbage.
what do you mean butthole? I just look at the character creation. Stay assmad.
Your game is shit, shill.
touch grass schizoid
stop posting pictures of my daughter
Do you even get tired of posting this out dated image, outdated-chan?
Anyone turning on the game can see that Arenanet reduced the breast sizes years ago so you will not be seeing such blatant udders anymore.
positively BUILT for the BIG NORN wiener.
>positively BUILT for the BIG FUTA NORN wiener
fixed
OMG OMG OMG OMG ITS ON STEAM NOW ITS FINALLY FIXED!?!!!!!! STEAMSISTERS THIS IS OUR MMO NOW!!!
Why does FF14 get to have threads on Ganker but GW2 doesn't?
No one plays gw2 anymore
Because gw2 is garbage.
You're in a gw2 thread on Ganker right now grandpa did you forget your dementia medication again?
Becuase people play XIV but no one plays GW2 outside of the diehard fenatics that have already been playing the game for the past 5+ years of their lives
Zero marketing, like GW1 the game somehow lives by itself.
Also, less anime girl and pedo shit I guess.
>No one plays gw2 anymore
You've said that 10 years ago.
14 is a pedo/porn game for the most part (atleast for Ganker). There aren't those degens in GW2 anymore.
>There aren't those degens in GW2 anymore.
lol
lmao
what do you think asura are?
I spent the first 2 years of Guild Wars 2 on World vs World then quit.
When I look at the Leaderboards from time to time and I see Blackgate on top 3 every time it makes me happy. I was there following the commanders' orders on comms. Blackgate also was the world first Tequatl Rising kill.
blackgate was the highest pop server since launch that people purposefully stacked. it's not an accomplishment.
is it just the launcher being added? because downloading the game fricking sucks dick. if i can uninstall/reinstall it entirely through steam i would actually play it again
Just the launcher and you can't use a pre-existing account.
you know i thought that was so stupid that it couldn't be true but yeah, there it is. are they fricking moronic?
... fricking seriously?
What's even the point then? Do they really expect a large influx of new players? The game is a fricking decade old.
>What's even the point then?
They desperately want new players.
They were idiots and released it a week before Elden Ring, so all the hype went to Elden Ring over it, and people forgot the expansion came out.
One of the stupidest mistakes they've made.
And the steam release is dropping the exact same day XIV's 6.2 patch is released.
Why would you ever want to add another launcher over your launcher?
i wouldn't, which is why i asked if it could be installed directly through steam. their launcher, for whatever reason, takes ten thousand years to update the game which always puts me off from reinstalling it.
>for whatever reason
stop stealing wifi
>playing woke games unironically
you get what you fricking deserve
>want to play GW2 every now and then
>account got hacked and is on an email I no longer have access to and ANet has been incompetent at helping me recover over ~5 tries
Frick paying for this mid game again, but I do miss jumping in there from time to time.
The only purpose in keeping GW2 alive is that GW1 runs on the same servers. So hop to it and play that shit so I can still enjoy my GW1.
Yeah, everyone getting filtered and crying was a good time. Still a shame dragon stand meta event was clearly unfinished.
It's funny that so many MMO devs (and even devs in general) swing so wildy in the opposite direction once shit starts hitting the fan
>W-what do you mean our players are leaving since 80% of the game are map events that are so easy and boring that it boreas people too tears?
The thing is that nothing in HoT was too hard people just never got forced to get better.
I've never played this, might as well give it a try. it's f2p nowadays, right?
yeh f2p to try it out, standard edition, deluxe and ultimate edition
this dude summed it up pretty good
The base game is free, yes. The first two expansion bundled together are $30, and the last expansion is also $30.
Release HoT was fun as frick, I remember getting oneshot by random archers in the first map, or by invisible frogs in the second one. It was so hard it brought the entire community together, what a great experience.
My first attack on Tarir was probably one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in videogames, it's a shame no other MMO ever tried to replicate GW2's "map-wide chain events that reset ever hour" system.
best mmo out there. shit story tho.
Is this still around? i remember playing on launch and quitting after a while because it sucked.
The only thing that got me through the story in XIV is that it picked up dramastically from Heavensward going forward, is it the same case here or is it really forgettable ? Game looks cool aside from that, seems to have more focus on PVE than PVP
GW2 story is absolutely terrible and you are still forced to go through it.
GW2s story is so shit that it has almost killed the game atleast twice now on it's own. If you want to play GW2 for the story then do yourself a favor and quit right fricking now to save your own sanity, only the first parts of it are sort of decent and the rest is locked behind paywalls, so even if the story was good it wouldn't be worth the trouble.
>picked up dramastically from Heavensward going forwar
This cope needs to die
Heavansward was the last expansion I fully completed. I feel like the game was expecting me to give a shit about that literal who dying a lot more than I actually did. Between that and the dragon weeb I thought I was going to break my neck rolling my eyes as hard as I did over the writing.
Desperate.
Your turn.
literally desperate
This is the best thing Nu-net shills can come up with? Wow thats pathetic.
A Deus Ex reference will never be pathetic.
Seething because I game you don't like is successful will always be pathetic though.
Steam Deck certified BOOOM
unironically mirin
>gw2 thread
>400 post in 4 hours
Without looking at the thread I’m 99% sure most of the posts are shitpost
Very bright child
>I'm 99% sure most of the posts are shitpost
And I helped!
still not playing it
Can't believe I've been playing this for 10 years...
This shit wasn't on Steam?
Anyway, not playing it
So I just played a little one year ago but didn't have time. Will they give away all the paid missions for free on steam? I don't have anything on my main account except some freebies, so I wouldn't care starting fresh.
I meant in a cheap pack, maybe not free.
gw2 seems like a pain in the ass for current mmo addicts who play different mmo, is it because they're afraid or because they pretend have something better
>Pozz Wars 2
Reminder that pic related is a Nordic giant and one of the most important characters.
>pozz
My brother in Christ stop with this /misc/ madness
Alternatively, stop pozzing games.
but it was the gay community that invented pozzing
>Reminder that pic related is a Nordic giant and one of the most important characters.
And ? what the problem ? The haircut you insecure poltard ? He shaved that shit during HoT.
Aaah ok i remember parts of this stuff
Ine developer came out as a feminist and pozzed the lore with a nog and this is the ape-man's pic
Lol
Why? You can literally just go to their website and download the client without steam.
new players, discount, fresh start, convinience of steam store etc
Other than the occasional discount, who cares
people who use steam probably care, those who already got it wouldn't mind at all
What is convenient about being forced to start steam before starting the gw2 client? That's the opposite of convenience.
Have they fixed the awful performance yet lol? wasn't it because the game no matter what only used one core or something?
runs better since the dx11 update
Had 500 hours on it, played until the second expansion came and dropped it after. World completion, mixed with the jeremy SOUL music, is the best thing about it. Did they finally kill that homosexual Braham?
the frick
how did it get so bad
>that video
What a load of nothing.
Warrior is the only honest class in the game
Warrior and necro are my favourites. Such a good time with either, and you have a lot of build options if you are not a meta slave.
>playing Bladesworn and dealing out 200k dragon slashes and topping DPS charts
Can't get anymore honest than this.
I enjoyed the exploration and platforming. Would rather have a game completely about that instead of the zergfest that it is.
Can I make a steam account, level a character and just take all my items from my OG account. I remember this game being pretty fun when it came out. I liked the platforming shit lol
No. No account linking, no nothing.
The point is that you must buy everything all over again.
>dick ridding a game that lied and abused it's players
>makes you a npc in the half way mark of the original story
>broken promises out the ass
Most sane people left after year 2
somehow this feels like several years too late
don't mind it though
>Treehern
If you didn't drop this piece of shit after some fat dike's OC basically made your character a npc I can only assume you're into cuckholding
I never cared that much for the story to begin with. I barely listen to any npc in any game.
That makes it even worse they took so fricking long to add content that people just left just like that new PSO
Bro, work on your punctuation and so on. You are just rambling at this point.
Cope
You're defending a game that doesn't even care about it's playerbase and has been on life support for years.
GW1gays need to be executed.
the funny thing about Ganker contrarianism is despite all the shitposting and hate a bunch of you are gonna end up getting it on steam anyway
troony game
troony genre
Nah
delusional
t. zoomoid
Loved how you could steal from people, or how others went afk, and you parked a monster train on them.
It needs a troony to spot a troony. Thank you for your service, xyr.
>It needs a troony to spot a troony
>absolutely fricking implying.
Virtually none of you freaks blend in nearly as well as they want everyone to play make believe they do.
>troony spacing
Oh, oh, we have a buck broken bucko over here.
imagine playing a trooner groomer
the game has been super woke for years now
Is this a good MMO if I can only put in like 5-6 hours a week?
Does it play well with steam deck? Not looking for anything amazing but would like it to be playable to the point you can farm shit. not do group stuff
From a casual perspective, I'd say yes. But it isn't on steam yet, and not sure if it's confirmed to run on the deck.
10 years later and no bikinis frick this gay ass game.
They gave us the tentacles, but not the school girl outfit...
I don't know why you homosexual even entered the thread. Is outrage your hobby?
I unironically liked Rift more than Guild wars 2
GW2 was boring as frick
I never went past the first expansion, but I assume the same goes for all the other expansions except the latest one.
any point in playing this if i dont give a shit about the story
Why are there so many people talking about how great XIV for this game or for any MMO for that matter that XIV is bought up?
16 times xiv has been mentioned in this thread is this some sort of inferiority complex or something like that?
>inferiority complex
That's it.
So am I better off waiting untill theis story DLC pack or whatever comes out before starting
you won't get even half way through the base story before then because it takes goddamn forever.
Where are the Asian servers? They're just going to let them play gacha MMOs like Tower of Fantasy?
BASED
>WoW subscription cucks seething
>FFXIV subscription cucks seething
You have no idea how much I want FemNelves with an area like Teldrassil of WoW.
xivbucks ruined another thread? *yawn*
still not playing your troony erp simulator
