>Hack a 3DS
>Get access to more than a hundred QUALITY games
>Can play DS and GBA natively
>Can emulate NES, SNES, and several other consoles
>Actually fits in a pocket
>Has great battery life
If you could only own ONE console for the rest of your life, you should pick the 3DS.
>Shilling for a discontinued end-of-life console
Huh?
>NOOO I CAN'T PLAY MY LATEST GOYSLOP! IT'S DISCONTINUED! I HAVE TOTALLY FINISHED ALL THE THOUSANDS OF EXCLUSIVES ACROSS THE 3DS, DS, GBA AND THE OTHER PLATFORMS!!!! I NEEEEED NEW GAMES AND MUST SPEND $70!!!
kys
Imagine being this mad when called out for playing an old console.
>one console
Finally, a reason to buy one of these fucking chink handhelds!
No but seriously, given the price point of a used 3DS I'd sooner buy and hack a switch/lite or buy one of those android handhelds like the Odin
SPBP.
The 3DS has a button layout for toddler hands. Thats why its "pocketable" in the first place, but you'll be better off with a gpd win 4 if that really matters to you anyway. My 3DS collects dust because its a horrible way to play monhun.
>thought you were joking
>look up price of 3DS XL
what the fuck lmao weren't they like $199 or some shit? The only time i sold one for that high was when i sold a modded one on ebay.
still have 2.
I got mine new from amazon jp at 34k yen (~$250)
I think japs are still not aware people are trying to buy 3ds again
$250 is still a steal especially if you consider sales tax. nice job. $450+ is too much.
some time around last year everyone collectively came to the same realization that OP did and the few that still existed sold the fuck out quick. which is hilarious because if you remember the New 2DS XL models had been rotting on store shelves for two years at that point for only $130 or some shit and nobody wanted them.
If people had bought those New 2DS XLs then like they're buying USED New 3DS XLs now then the thing probably wouldn't even be discontinued, and Nintendo probably would keep the eShop up for those too retarded to mod the thing.
I have a hacked 3ds and switch with hundreds of games and I've only played picross on either of them. Picross 3d Round 2 is the best game on the 3ds.
>look it up
>looks kino
>cia is 70mb
??? How is it so small
Anyway thanks seems fun as fuck
Remember to use the save editor to unlock the amiibo puzzles
i just got a bunch of NFC tags and spoofed the amiibos themselves. i rarely have to use them but know that you can not always get around the amiibo lock with just a save editor. sooner or later you will need a real (fake) amiibo
I think the 3DS is the flimsiest piece of shit handheld I've ever owned and I could not for the life of me understand why someone would want to use it as an emulation machine. I have a hard enough time wanting to use it to play actual 3DS games
The original DS was much worse. The hinges break pretty easily. First time I had a product that countered the Nintendium theory.
My thoughts exactly
>do all these things
>then put it on a shelf to collect dust.
:^)
i don't know. the 3ds library kinda sucks. i only play picross 3d on it once a year
BASED picross connoisseurs
i too enjoy myself some picross
Just finished color theory red
Fun game, will pick it up again later
>color theory red
what?
Idk, this was the name of the theme for the 5 puzzles I did
It's the second one after the tutorial puzzles
ah, picross 3D Round 2 i assume? i vaguely remember there being multiple color theory "chapters" if you can call them that
Yes round 2, on 3ds. Very fun and comfy
good one, im close to finishing it but havent touched it in probably over a year.
>new2ds
No anon, your taste sucks, it's different.
And also, you need an internet connection to do so.
>the 3ds library kinda sucks
It's alright, not as good as the SNES but there are good games there. My issue is with the oversaturation of RPGs.
>more than a hundred
you lack imagination, my friend
you're right though 3DS is king
10 year old phone with a Bluetooth controller
Your move
soulless
>cheaper
>easier to set up
>more emulation options
>better emulation
>nearly infinite programs compared to 3ds homebrew
>the amount of fangames that natively support arm now outnumber the total number of 3ds game period
I can literally play infinite fusion on my phone. Can't do that shit with a 3ds
>more powerful
>better ergonomics
>better quality controller
I might be able to go on forever
You might have a point if the games where all spritebased, but as it stands a screen with twenty times the resolution will trump properly having both screens the right size. That crisp 1080 that the 3ds can literally never do is way, way better. If makes the games look fucking beautiful.
emulating dualscreen feels like shit.
This is true. Same goes for the DS. it just doesn't feel the same way as actually having the two screens properly separated, with the stylus on hand as you use it alongside the buttons. It's why I switched from DS emulaton on the PC to emulating it on the 3DS.
>thinly veiled tendie thread
>suddenly
Is there an homebrew app like hShop but to download DS and GBA games?
No but there’s websites where you can download their entire libraries, gba is like 12 gb and ds is ~200gb
>GBA
>natively
????
The 3DS has hardware support for playing GBA games. They just never released any games because sleep mode doesn't work.
Ambassador program, Nintendo is just fucking retarded.
Yes, 3DS can natively play GBA games. That's how the Ambassador games work. Like the other anon said, they just never told any GBA games because no sleep mode.
The 3ds has a built in DS which has a built in GBA. You can inject GBA games as CIAs and run them just fine.
xbox series x can play them as well
Not portable, cope.
>3DS / PSP / Wii U / PC / PS3
>Become invincible
resolution is shit. 3D games with more jaggies than any system ever
>Has great battery life
I can agree with everything else, but I sure as hell wouldn't say the 3DS had "great battery life"
Honestly this. People say this only because compared to recent handhelds (switch/steam deck) 3ds somehow beats them both easily. Meanwhile though my vita gets a shit load of hours before its even more then half way. I beat ape escape before the battery even thought about dying
>Meanwhile though my vita gets a shit load of hours before its even more then half way.
Seriously. My Vita can hold a charge in sleep mode for months which is good because it has no games but my 3DS dies in sleep mode after a couple of days. The 3DS averages around 4 hours of play time brand new according to Nintendo. It's not a great battery by any means and it sucks that the 2DS XL has no means of replacing the battery without taking the system apart.
Something strange I remember from back when I regularly used PSP/Vita/DS/3DS is that for some reason Sony's handhelds kept charge very well in sleep mode and died quickly when turned off, while Nintendo's behaved the opposite.
I want to say Nintendo's was because of Streetpass constantly looking for hits, but I don't know that for sure.
>hack switch
>actually have access to a ton of good games i will probably never even have time to play all of
its literally that easy
>QUALITY games
>download Devil survivor
>Get told the DS original is better
>Download Devil Survivor 2
>it doesn't work
>there's nothing else that catches my attention
>It's been more that five years since I last opened my 3ds
Who the fuck told you the DS version of Devil Survivor is better? They trolled the fuck out of you, everyone recommends Overclocked.
I still played it but I was uncertain if I was playing a worse version
I have no clue why 2 didn't work for you. Maybe you got a bad CIA or something.
>Has 3ds,vita,switch lite and smart phone that emulates dolphin
Fucking protobal Chad's, rise up!
i wish nintendo would have made some sort of attachment for the wii u so i could play shit on my tv though. i have a hard time just sitting at home and playing on a handheld for some reason
is there a guide for the switch? including how to transfer games downloaed on a pc
I was told hacking a 3ds is easy, in reality there's like a gorillion different methods to research and most of them are makeshift solutions
https://3ds.hacks.guide/
Literally just follow this guide. Goes over installing CFW. It may take a little time but the process itself is absurdly brain dead and all you need is an SD card
It's Wii tier in terms of difficulty AKA just follow the instructions and don't touch any other options unless they tell specifically you to.
I hate battery dependent consoles
For me it's
>Hacked Vita for PS1, PSP, and Vita games
>Hacked 3DS for 3DS, DS, Gameboy/Advanced, and SNES games
>PC for PS3, PS2, Gamecube, and Switch games
Oh yeah, it's gaming time.
never been a big fan of nintendo games
i get the appeal they are just not for me
with that said, i emulate the ones i want on my steam deck, i just wish the damn thing was fucking smaller
I never understood how anyone can play games on this thing. I don't even have large hands and it still feels fucking uncomfortable to play for longer periods of time. I have the new 3DS xl too. Fucking hell. Hacking this thing was more fun than actually playing stuff on it.
>I don't even have large hands and it still feels fucking uncomfortable to play for longer periods of time. I have the new 3DS xl too.
I'm sorry to break the news to you anon, but you actually do have big hands
It's mostly the lack of a good grip that makes it uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. Otherwise, it works fine. Some games like Kid Icarus may force you to hold it in an awkward way but they are rare cases.
The grip I bought back in 2018 for $15 now cost like $250 on Amazon. I feel like a king every time I use it now
I can do that all on my phone all without looking like a fucking nerd in public lol
>touch controls
That sounds like you're just bad to me
>liking touch controls
You sound like a subhuman
I can play my ps vita in public cause I'm a sexy man
op is a fag
If I have 2 3ds do I have to hack both or could I just hack one and swap the SD card from one to the other?
Gotta hack both since it modifies the firmware of the system
So I have to buy another sd card for it I assume?
Which SD cards are compatible for this thing?
Switch compatible ones work.
and those are?
Sandisk
The screen isnt so good, even if you have a N3DSXL with the IPS screen the quality for emulation isnt there, the vita is a better emulation machine, I Stick to ds and 3ds for the 3ds, everything else runs better on vita with that beautiful OLED screen.
>244p
lol
jesus christ what the fuck is that abomination
that looks like neck pain
>emulate
I tried to run Pokemon Red.
This piece of shit started to stutter and the audio was glitching.
is ultimate injector still the only way to make injections?
If I could have ONE console in my life, it would be a high quality gaming PC with ALL emulators.
I could hook it up to a TV too.
Playing in bed would be a big loss though.
Can I play the castlevania protrait game?
>Has great battery life
Fuck you, it doesn't.
turn off wifi and 3D and its pretty good
I never use those.
but is it turned off? your 3DS is still pinging and searching for a wifi connection. also, i think street pass is always on unless you disable it with CFW but i could be wrong on that.
Of course it's turned off.
What do you need flashcarts for, even DS runs off the SD card these days.
Strange Journey or Strange Journey Redux?
>If you could only own ONE console for the rest of your life, you should pick the 3DS.
I'd choose vita, but 3ds is a good second choice
>flash carts are illegal where I live
Wtf
GBA games scale really well on the Vita's screen with sharp bilinear.
I haven't touched my 3DS in years, but lately, I had the urge to play some games. Is it safe to update it?
What are some good 3DS RPGs with furigana? Apparently all first party Nintendo games have it.
Bravely Default is a great game, although it doesn't use furigana. The whole game is voiced though, so you'll still be able to hear how the kanji is pronounced.
Is there some chinkheld with dual screens? I'd like to play som eds/3ds games but like someone said earlier it's so small in your hands. Playable but not ideal.
I turned mine on for the first time in a couple years recently and immediately was hit with a wave of soul. The UI is so much better on the 3ds than Switch. I love the pixelated Ace Attorney theme
Just got a new one from japan. Do I have to do something else after the usual jailbreak to get rid of the region lock?
Pretty sure the hack makes it region free, but you’re stuck with all menus and Home Screen in jap
That's cool I guess, I can read basic jap.
All my physical games are american so I was worried I wouldn't be able to play them.
If you follow either of these guides, nothing can go wrong:
https://hax.b4k.co/3ds/guide
https://3ds.hacks.guide/
OP here. You can 100% convert a Japanese 3DS to English - the red 3ds XL in the pic is a Japanese import. It takes a little time to do the steps and the only negative impact I believe is that there’s issues with accessing the e shop but the eshop is shutting down anyways. Also, it’s kind of a hassle getting rid of the previous owners NNID or whatever from the system. I know it can be done but I only changed the language of my 3ds and was done. All games work perfect, the jacks ensure that it’s region free.
You have two choices, either install Luma Locale Switcher for certain games (I forget which) or install English firmware onto it. The main downsides for installing English firmware are it's more effort than Luma Locale and it will break NNID compatibility so you won't be able to use the eShop... but that doesn't really matter because the eShop is closing at the end of the month.
No, but keep in mind that you might have to tweak/download some extra things on Luma to get foreign carts to work. I have a PAL copy of Dillon's Dead Heat and the text goes missing for some reason on an NA model.
3DS is the best way to play DS and 3DS games today but I wouldnt be playing GBA games when there are superior emulators for it nowadays on multiple cheap devices.
For me, it's a modified Gameboy Advance.
Okay 3DSbros, give me some must have homebrew. I've already got NSUI on my PC, TwilightMenu++, Anemone, Universal Updater, and NDS Forwarder.
off the top of my head i would say wumiibo, checkpoint and TWPatcher (for using different scaling/filter methods in ds-mode games)
I'm just gonna wait for Switch hacking to improve to play all those and more
>I'm just gonna wait for Switch hacking to improve
redpill me on this. Got a rcm loader and 512gb sd a few months ago but haven't bothered modding mine yet cause i have so much shit to play on other platforms. Is it such a hassle to keep up with updating shit since there is basically new stuff every week or is it not that big of a deal?
