Achievements are just additional challenges in the game to do, so I don’t know why people act like they’re this pointless thing considering videogames are based on challenges. Personally speaking I only go after them if it’s for a game I really like and I did everything else, so I want more objectives to complete.

Sounds more to me that you just don't really like games that much. I like to wander levels and explore what designers created, admire textures, read flavor text, listen to the audio design, examine models and clutter. All kinds of stuff. Sometimes I get a hundred or so hours going before I even make an active attempt at beating the game. After I beat any given game I play it again, slower this time so I can make sure I haven't missed anything important. After this second playthrough I start a third where I search for secrets and glitches. On the 4th playthrough is when I look at the achievements. And only if I'm actually enjoying the game. Usally at several hundred hours by this point, if not a thousand.

Meaning that if he bought Stadia and RDR2 on literal release date he played this one fricking game 5 hours and 36 minutes every single day for almost 3 years and this is the best case scenario.
On top of that while it isn't really an awful game or anything, there simply isn't all that much content and considering he begged for character transfer I'm assuming he spends his time in multiplayer, a mode that has been entirely dropped by the devs years ago by this point, with not much content and constantly dwindling small playerbase.

In 5k hours he could have:
    >have read most of the western canon
    >learnt to speak 7 languages fluently
    >learnt to play 3 instruments like a virtuoso
    >learnt to draw like a master
    >learnt how to code and probably start working on his own game by now
But no, he spent it all not only on a video game which very few people will play in 10 years (almost no one plays RDR 1 anymore) but also on a console which will cease to exist. If you spend 5k hours on game in 4 years then you probably have some underlying problems

I wonder if SEGA caught concrete wind of Stadia's shutdown earlier (since it had been rumored strongly for months in advance) and that's how they finally persuaded Johnny's to concede on greenlighting their Judgment/Lost Judgment PC ports. Being the basis for the streaming versions means the PC ports would've been essentially ready to go at a moment's notice (which could also explain why they were able to just casually shadowdrop two big ports).

Execs tend to be in the know about a lot of these things, and the reason they often maintain their positions even when getting exposed for raping half their staff is because they have a track record of actually keeping the industry secrets they need to in order to have the machine keep moving.

This seems like Rockstar's fault more than anything for not allowing account transfers, but Google has bent over backwards to make this right. I don't know what more you can expect. Compare to Square Enix shutting down a $70 game people paid actual money for less than a year later (Babylon's Fall) that has no offline mode and can never be played again, and they're not even offering refunds or exchanges, nevermind your game progress which will obviously disappear

you and every single other person who keeps saying this shit itt are legit NPCs. You have no fricking way of thinking about things outside of what you are told. The thing is you can upgrade to a MC from an NPC you just have to want to. Think about it for a second, don't you think MAYBE at the 3k mark you'd go "huh, I've done literally everything in this game, why not go for the achievements for a couple days?". Again, you most likely children have zero idea just how fricking long 6000 hours really is. Just seriously think for one second. Your brain might hurt for a bit since you've never done it before but once you get past it your life will change for the better. inb4 "HOW DO YOU KNOW HE'D THINK THAT, HMMMM??" You can easily answer that question yourself if again, you apply "thinking"

I mean someone buys a PlayStation and a copy of RDR2, they don't even have to unpack that shit let alone play it to be profitable. Running costs for online services are shared between everyone playing so that's not a problem either.
But this guy? He's basically got a dedicated cloud server just for himself in some Google datacentre. And every single time he boots the game up it costs Google real actual money in just electricity let alone other associated running costs.

I do wish these idiots would get more seriously burned, but Google's at least taking a bite in the ass on this one. The monetary setback may be a drop in the bucket, but Stadia's failure will make sure that they stay the frick out of gaming in any significant capacity from now on. Everyone with at least half a braincell will know that they have no fricking idea what they're doing with video games, and all the brainlets will eternally distrust them because they think they were tricked and rugpulled by Stadia (even though history and basic logic repeatedly screamed at them until blue in the face that this was going to be an obvious failure).

Funny thing is, ET and Dreamcast did face one vaguely similar issue.
                >Dreamcast was actually selling decently but the rate it needed to recoup SEGA's mounting Saturn/32X losses (and DC development) was utterly impossible
                >E.T. sold well by Atari standards but they made an UNGODLY amount of copies (like 10 million, which was obscene for early 80s gaming standards) for it and a couple other games like Pac-Man that they couldn't possibly hope to move
The only difference is that people realized E.T. was shit whereas the Dreamcast was realized as a true diamond in the rough.

Every game that requires "work" from the player should be played exclusively on the PC (your own PC, where you have access to the "fruit" of your labor).
This guy's save is nonsense, but there are people who spend hundreds of hours creating levels for Little Big Planet, worlds for Dreams, even Super Worlds for Mario Maker 2, and all this will disappear as soon as the corporation decides.
Working on closed platforms is like creating art in a studio that doesn't belong to you and you can't get your things out. In other words, it's moronic.
