Hajime Tabata announces JP Games will create an RPG on the recently announced "Japan Metaverse Economic Zone"

>先日、"ジャパンメタバース経済圏"プロジェクトを発表しました。たくさんの問い合わせをありがとうございます。 JP GAMES設立時から考えていた、ユーザーと企業が共生する新しいRPGを創ってみよう的なプロジェクトになります。 時代は進み、それはメタバースと呼ぶ方が伝わりやすくなりましたね。私の会社もグループ会社化しました。 ゲームの可能性をさらに広げていきますのでよろしくおねがいします。

>We recently announced the "Japan Metaverse Economic Zone" project. Thank you for all the inquiries. This is the project that we had envisioned when JP GAMES was first established, a project to create a new RPG in which users and companies coexist in harmony. Times have moved on, and it is easier to call it a metaverse. My company has also become a group company. I will try to expand the possibilities of games more.

I am no fan of Tabata. But you say that as if the franchise isn't still moving backwards.
Versus 13 may have started the action game shit, but they've just doubled and quadrupled down since. It's fricking over. R.I.P.

S-E should've spun-off Final Fantasy as a lower budget series and kept the turn based system starting from FF13 and onward. I wish Versus 13 was turned into a PSP game so it wouldn't have been cancelled.

          Unironically this.
Kind of messed up how much freer Dragon Quest is like this. Those games can be on high end systems and handhelds at the same time. And no insistence on scope or budget or whatever will stop it.

Meanwhile Bravely Default wasn't even allowed to be called Final Fantasy because it was low budget.

The thing is, why call it FF when it can be its own thing and generate a new IP?
Making all games be named based on the same 3 IPs isnt a smart idea.

well, if you followed interviews with him during the FFXV marketing cycle and stuff, he would say things like "the person most upset about the delay is my daughter, because she will not see me for 3 more months". Never expected him to go back to AAA after going through this.

Game development is ruthless nowadays. You work on 2-3 AAA games and 15 years have passed. Not only you lose your life, but if you have a child you also lose their whole childhood.

ff14 1.0 team made ff14 arr hw and are doing ff16 so no
The Luminous devs are making ff17 as regular SE devs

nobody from CBU1 is free because 7R 2, 7R3, KH4 and a new AAA IP are in development at CBU1
And yoshitpiss said he is not making FF17 or any future mainline FF and instead will use the FF16 team to make new projects while FF14 team continues on FF14
That leaves only the 150 Luminous devs who again physically are unchanged at SE and only on paper just says theyre regular SE again, that leaves only then to be able to do FF17

also considering those devs are mainly all FF devs anyway and SE already stated they are now working on an existing AAA IP and will continue engine development it only can mean they are the ones leading FF17
And oh there just so happens to be a presentation by Nakazawa who did a presentation on what he'd do if he was making the "next FF".

Once again, these devs will not be working on FF17, each and every one of them will be dispersed across all four CBUs. As of today, no one knows which devs have been assigned for FF17 and there are no leaks so far.

I feel like a decent chunk of them will be put on FFXIV since Yoshida has lamented in the past about a lack of programmers and they are pushing a big graphics update for the next expansion.

poor devs will end up being bossed around by Yoshi-P, no more autonomy for them. On the bright side, CBU3 will have access to the Luminous engine and they'll borrow any tech that's useful

Suppose Forspoken did well and Luminous still existed, in your eyes there would be no SE devs free to work on FF17, clearly SE was either fine with this, or had another team working on it. The plan sure as shit wasn't to hand their flagship to a relatively independent satellite studio, or to shutter Luminious regardless of the success/failure of Forspoken so they could come back to SE. It's fricking wild that you put all this effort into autism detective work over what teams are occupied at SE, and reach the conclusion that they had no idea who to even put on 17 until the Luminous chuckleheads just happened to land back in their lap.

        >Kitase, Saito, Yoshi-P, Square Enix NEW CEO and old CEO, Nomura are all in on NFT, blockchain metaverse
Give me a name of any blockchain game that they've worked on
The only one doing it is yosuke saito

Kitase is a durector of the board of SE itself so he's backing it on a company level
          Saito and the CEOs too
Yoshi-P readily defended NFTs by saying he'd make a game with them if it had them from the start, that is his stance
Nomura had figures of his old art only allowed to be purchased with NFTs

All of them are pro NFT, pro blockchain, pro metaverse.

That's not what Yoshida said. He said forcing NFT shit into current games is not the way and that it could *probably* work if the game was designed from the ground up from it.

                >YoshiP also mentioned that the day before the stream, he ended up spending most of his time going through certain emails. These emails ended up related to the Metaverse and NFTs discussion.

                >The NFTs and Metaverse discussion started at the 22:30 timestamp of the YouTube stream. Yoshida explained how the Metaverse is getting popular in Japan, and how he received many interview requests to talk about it. He accepted these requests as they can always serve as a way to advertise FFXIV. However, he'd like to make sure what he thinks of the Metaverse is conveyed without misunderstandings, and he's allowed to review the content of all interview articles before they're published by outlets.

                >At that point, the Twitch chat of the live stream started spamming "NO NFTs". (Starting at 38:00 on Twitch and 25:12 on YouTube). So YoshiP reacted to that, telling everyone to calm down, adding that the Metaverse and NFTs are completely different things

                >However, Yoshida would like one day to have the opportunity to speak with a Western outlet in an interview unrelated to FFXIV. To explain what he thinks of NFTs outside of FFXIV. As he does believe that as a new business model, it could be possible to make an interesting game with NFTs if said game is exclusively built around NFTs from the beginning. Lastly, Naoki Yoshida stressed out that if he ever made a game with NFTs, he'd still focus on making an interesting game

                yoshitpisssisters... its ogre...

Sounds like an MMO built on the Metaverse, it's a risky project, however they could always pull the NFT stuff out as long as the gameplay is good enough

The only side collapsing is the western publishers because they are bloated and with unrealistic metrics to reach. Japanese companies are inclining for more than 10 years, and their biggest objectives right now is to hire more devs.

To think that only 6 years ago there was a bizarro world where this hack was lauded as a savior of Final Fantasy with everything bad about FFXV/Versus XIII cancellation being pinned on Nomura and treated as a matter of fact. The endless onslaught of tearjerkers about "poor Tabata" who was given "a bad hand" and him being freed of all responsibility by the gaming media, lol, I bet some of these homosexuals feel really stupid right now, knowing that their idol is just another NFT/Metaverse scam artist.
