Half-Life

Is there any NPC or concept in any Half Life game that you think deserved it's own story told through an expansion/episode?

Black Ops? Walter? Race X? Alyx? Rebels? Blue Shift 2?

Also, obligatory leak Episode 4, you cowards.

The marine side was the only alternate point of view that I think was worth turning into a game. Blue Shift was pushing it, regardless of how short it was.

A mod for a Black Ops guy, or one of the female assassins could be fun, if done right.

True. To be fair, Blue Shift suffered because it was a little Dreamcast bonus map pack, but got promoted as a full expansion once the DC port was scrapped. Still could have used some more time to find an identity for itself.
I've mention this before, but I think Blue Shift would have actually benefitted from a vocal protagonist. Would have loved some Barney Voicelines.

Black Ops would be very interesting because it could provide a wildly different gameplay style.

a father grigori / ravenholm game would be cool

There was a planned spin-off with Grigori that got cancelled. Arkane Studios was making it and it was going to be called Return to Ravenholm.

do a kaiju/disaster type survival game based on the seven hours war. you wouldn't be able to really stand toe to toe with real combine military(anything you could damage would be weak probe units) but instead solving environmental puzzles and urban evasion type gameplay.

Still sad that Half-Life Nightwatch never came to fruition.

      >2004
kek, 95% of ambitious mods from that period turned out to be vaporware. May as well just make up your own fantasy mod in your head and cry about that not existing.

I didn't know about this one, even back then.

Is it just me, or was the HL2 modding scene a tiny fraction of HL1's? That's the impression I was left with.

They failed because they were trying to outdo the base game itself. They were ambitious, but it turned out to be the nail in their project. The texture files are available though.

Source engine is much more complex than Goldsrc, as with game development in general

Gonarch had a long and grand adventure before it met Gordon and we need a series of six games (with a three-game spinoff series) exploring this

Probably could have done something with the OpFor/Blue Shift revelation that the scientists both knew about Xen and were actively exploring it at the time of the accident. You could make a decent horror game out of being unarmed and having to explore and do stuff.

    No.

They tried that like 18 times and each one was shit. Half-Life does not need an Expanded Universe. Get over it.
