I literally can't say anything nice about it. It's an absolute piece of shit compared to Combat Evolved that in my opinion killed the series with more and more realism bullshit and ugly murky graphics

I'd like to point out Coagulation has a bluer skybox than Blood Gulch.

Why are there so many obnoxious homosexuals on this board who can't handle anything that doesn't look like Spyro? Why are earthen colours so offensive to you? Never been to the outback, cunt?

99% of FPS already look gray, brown and realistic. Halo 1 was walking an awesme thin line, there was no reason to make vehicles antifun and the graphics edgy. People have every right to complain when they love the original game in the series and then sequels don't bother taking after it

You still haven't said why earthen colours are somehow bad (again, never been to the outback have ya?) never mind that Halo 1 was already targeting photorealism—it just had a lush outdoor setting and neon spaceships. Halo 2 takes place in different settings since the original game's setting was literally destroyed, and yet we still see beautiful landscapes on Delta Halo, a "gray, brown and realistic" aka PURPLE Covenant city, and contrasting teals and oranges in the gas mine. Earth's colour palette is muted but that's intentional as (aside from the planet being under siege) it sets a contrast with how mystifying Covenant and Forerunner technology is.

Go and play Spyro, mate. Lol

That game looks like your neighbors disgusting hairy ass before he shaves it you smelly cunt. There's games that beat this and they weren't even a main focus for the system. Idk wtf you're on about but you need to shut your yap

Basically, when Gears of War came out in 2006, it created the meme of "grey and brown" on Ganker, and that is something that has basically burrowed itself into the minds of posters on here ever since, that as soon as they see any game with a certain colour palette, they have to jump up and down about it being "grey and brown".

No one cares about your ugly tiny shitty alien maps. Might as well play any other FPS. Halo today is literally just COD

Halo 2 is a shit game. The only thing more embarrassing than the gameplay is the soundtrack.

Halo 2 works fairly well if you treat it like a Call of Duty campaign. You power through it as more of a *cinematic* thing than something you're meant to mess around within. And then 3 works best played straight after as a final act. I was always disappointed by how the games felt after CE but can enjoy them all now.

      >Arbiter finding that their “Gods” were the same humans they were fighting all along
      >Halo 2 ends with Cortana being surrounded by tentacles
      >Resolves the Covenant storyline but leaves a bunch of threads that can be picked up to make an interesting and dramatic 3rd game, just without the Halo ring/Covenant situation.
      >Arbiter and Commander go off and break the Covenant and bring peace. Chief and Spark go rescue Cortana and destroy the Flood.

Joe Staten confirmed that this was the intended ending for the Halo franchise.

We basically have the entire original Halo 2 plot as an animated movie on youtube now. We *mostly* got the gist, just Frank O'Connor's hard-on for rewriting the forerunners as his OCs makes certain parts of 3 incoherent.

I actually like how Halo2 looks, aesthetically they don't really shit on the most essential parts of Halo. The colour palette is cool and unique, lots of smooth greys and browns and greens, trying to create a dense natural look with the limited power of the Xbox has an interesting effect. But I suspect that what I like about it was accidental. Give them more power and the look just turns into blurry pseudo-realist boring stock game of its time stuff. And the ability to add more detail to all things unnatural in Halo did not mean they should have. The Forerunner designs shifting over time from Promethean perfection to gaming PCs was embarrassing.

How much content from Halo 2 was scrapped?

Well first serious round of scrapping was that E3 build, where basically all of the work had to be dumped because the Xbox could never run it. Arguably that doesn't count because they didn't have a complete game in mind at the time and were just making stuff. Also there are older story drafts containing ideas like Keyes' daughter trying to kill the master chief, a level where you fight inside a covenant ship over earth instead of just dropping the bomb on its hull, etc.

Most important round of cutting is that the story was just meant to end with 2 and the finished plot that we have is basically the first 2/3 of this original one. Halo 3's levels are like a weirdly extended and screwed up version of Halo 2's originally planned last act. All you really need to know to understand how it would have worked is that The Ark was just in Africa, not a portal to it. Think of that and you can see how we were just a few levels away from finishing the story at the end of 2.

I've known people *in* Melbourne who "speak like this". But it's completely absurd to act like it's something which comes out naturally on Ganker rather than an affectation you use.

Yeah the script really suffered from this. Halo 2 is the most quotable game ever but Halo 3? "To war" I guess lol

Halo 2 starts off pretty strong but as soon as you take control of the arbiter the franchise takes a nosedive. It would have been amazing fighting the marines as the covenant but instead you fight...rebel covenant? retarded. Also, the texture loading during gameplay...eeww

Some of the best early console multiplayer that me and my bros could have asked for. I will never forget encountering handles such as "NipplestheBear" and "ButterLovers" while playing capture the flag back to back to back.
Running people down in the ghost like bowling pins.
I had forgotten how much fun it was until now

    Too old

Damn I’m getting old. I remember getting the official Xbox magazine demo disc that had the E3 gameplay reveal video on it and watched it endlessly. I used to wish with all my might that it would just let me control it and I’d touch the controller and the video would stop.

It can not be understated how huge the hype for Halo 2 was. Never in my life have I ever witnessed bigger hype for a game than Halo 2. Games simply don’t get this kind of hype anymore.

I played the ever living shit out of it. Was disappointed you didn’t spend that much time on Earth but I got over it.

Still prefer the first one, but will always love the second one.
