No it's SJW garbage, straight white males aren't playing it so therefore it flopped.
music aside, it's pretty shit
Been playing it for a while.
It honestly does not do anything other games of its genre hasn't done before.
I wouldn't say it completely fails at being a farming game, but it does fail as an action game.
Companies keep trying to mix both genres, thinking it is okey to just half ass the combat side of it for no reason.
The music is good.
>The music is good.
So you're saying it's already far superior to every other game in the genre? Except maybe Atelier, was that a farming game?
Since no one else is playing this apparently, how is the farming?
Does it take a back seat to the combat parts? Do the mechanics have any sort of depth or complexity?
it's decent but there's nothingt deep or complex about it no, but I would say it's a bigger part of the game than I was lead to believe.
People here were saying it was 5% of the game and vapid, which isn't true at all. In fact the farming is better than the combat.
>the farming is better than the combat
the combat must be very shit then
>the combat must be very shit then
it isn't terrible it's just extremely basic, like an iPad game
what's bad combat to you? because most people would call iPad game combat bad
>I wouldn't say it completely fails at being a farming game, but it does fail as an action game.
That's a shame but personally I could overlook that. Even in Rune factory I cared much more about chatting with the towns people/farming.
So does it do the town well? Dialogue looping too quickly would be the real DoA for me.
>chatting with the towns people/farming
that's another thing I forgot to complain about, the towns and npcs are quite shallow. It doesn't feel particularly immersive.
The entire game just feels like a half-assed proof of concept of something that could potentially be a 10/10.
The sound track is great though.
yes it was enough on its own to ruin the game for me, I don't understand the thinking at all.
>The entire game just feels like a half-assed proof of concept of something that could potentially be a 10/10.
Makes sense, people usually rank Frontier as a 9 after modding the runeys out
>that's another thing I forgot to complain about, the towns and NPCs are quite shallow. It doesn't feel particularly immersive.
How disappointing. Didn't have high expectations to begin with but it feels like it's been ages since there was a good farming sim.
Seems like RF4 was the last one I enjoyed, towns people all had memorable personalities in that one and I really liked how you could bring them out with you to do shit. Makes the overworld feel less lonely compared to older harvest moon titles and such. But thanks for trying this kusoge out anon.
How fast are we talking about here? How many minutes per day? Are you allowed to stay up late?
10 real-time seconds:10 in-game minutes, so exactly like RF4S.
There is a different overworld time lapse dependent on distance if going out to the other 4 towns or dungeons, but mitigated by owning a pet (halved, then two 10% upgrades). Meanwhile farming time is mitigated by completing Faerie Orders for bigger range tools and 3x3, 5x5, or 7x7 sprinklers (your farm is a 3x3 of 7x7 expansions).
Days start at 6:00 AM, enter Early Hours (midnight), then you faint at 2 AM (20 real-time minutes). At 10 PM you get all stats -20%, at Early Hours, all stats -40%. In the Prologue Demo, it was 5/6:10 for 16 real-time minutes and 40 seconds.
For reference, Stardew is 7:10 and also goes up to 2 AM (14 real-time minutes).
RF3 is 5:10 and RF5 is 20:10, and those games let you go up to 6 AM (12 real-time minutes for RF3, 24 for RF4S, or 48 for RF5).
I think the complaints feel overrated when you're meant to tackle things over multiple days (dungeons have ladder/bridge shortcuts and teleport points for a reason), otherwise you get RF5's problem where you barely advance the calendar from how much you can do in a day (story clear by late Spring/early Summer Year 1). Harvestella also has Quietus, a 1 day season at the end of each season, with a 50+ floor dungeon to crawl through that compliments the fast pace.
It actually does fail as a farming game
It's a downgrade over Stardew and rune factory and rune factory has monster taming also. There are very limited interactions between the villagers in harvestella compared even Harvest Moon 64 mogs it in that department
There is also no marriage or romance to appease trannies, the actual dev answer lmao
bro stardew valley but worse lmao
we are SE we are completely out of ideas and out of money
i have yet to see 1 screenshot from an anon playing this game
It’s woke trash, skip
It's 'shitty' as in like it's stuck on 90s mindset. Minor voice acting, minor animation, minimalistic combat, minimalistic UI, etc. Can't comment much on farming part because I haven't got that far.
In other words, it scratches my nostalgia itch. I like it.
troony game that panders to homosexual twitter weebs
>Fantasy game
>ACKSHUALLY IT'S POST APOCALYPTIC
What a lazy plot device.
Utaware actually did this to except it's good since the plot didn't focus too much on it.
I mean the story is about an alien invasion, more meta couldnt you get
Picrel is perhaps the only good execution of this. Im actually fricking tired of it
Man i love Etrian Odyssey
It's not post apocalyptic though? Is Tenchi Muyo post apocalypse?
I like that trope. NieR, SMT IV and Etrian Odyssey do it well.
One Piece
Aria talks about the gregorian calendar like 5 min after you meet her. In the demo, my immediate thought was that she was from a more advanced past rather than the future.
It's so shit that no one on this website has actually played it and keeps autistically pointing at the gender choices as if it fricking matters.
The game is devoid of substance much like Ganker is devoid of braincells.
Spoken like a true woke. You go tell'em brudda.
>is it any good
no. and that's coming from somebody who was desperate to love this game. Ignore the morons saying there are no romance options or farming - both are decent - but for me the dealbreaker was how railroaded the plot is.
I thought it'd be like Harvest Moon with some mystery dungeon quests always at the ready for when you need items or are in the mood to progress the story, but the game literally forces you to do missions. It's not a 'comfy slice of life sim' like the marketing says at all. In fact when you are farming, the weirdly sped-up time system means it isn't relaxing at all.
I like everything about the plot and world, but hate all the "comfy slice of life" stuff. I wish they just scrap them all. give more story-focused shit. heck, make it a goddamn VN and it'd be a million times better than this half-assed shit,
>sped up time
I thought I was the only one who noticed how bad the passage of time is.
This is unbelievably shit.
What do you mean with the sped up time system?
That there's no time to grew crops?
time is literally too fast. Imagine you woke up this morning and needed a shit, you take a long dump and consider what to have for breakfast, but then when you go downstairs it's already sunset and you have to go get ready for bed soon. It's bullshit and ruins the game
>That there's no time to grew crops?
yes, you have to accomplish pretty simple objectives over the course of several days, resting in between. Compared to say, animal crossing or harvest moon, it is infuriating. It's such a weird thing to frick up too, because the default would be to not be like that. They had to actively make it bad.
'Square Enix and Live Wire also outlined the game’s day-one update. It’s based on feedback from the Nintendo Switch demo and includes a reduced time-lapse speed in the field and world map. Days will thus be longer, providing more time to farm, fish, explore, and whatnot.'
it looks like they patched it actually
maybe I should reinstall it, why the frick are devs using consumers as beta testers though this day one patch thing needs to stop
>romance
Isn't all the romance post-game only?
I was interested in the concept of a Sqeenix Rune Factory but from what I've heard I will wait for more reviews
Go advertise on Twitter and make sure to mention the non binary options. Maybe you will reel in 1 or 2 SJW that actually cares enough to buy it.
This game is worth watching for the story only like a B-tier VN, but not playing for all the frustrating hassle.
>non-binary
>in a Japanese game
guess how bad it is.
Is there any form of post game? Anything to grind for or an incentive to keep playing after the main story?
postgame is when you can get a roommate/wife
marr-sorry, "partnership" is the postgame.
>That wirr be 60 dorra+tip, gajin!
no denuvo, easy to pirate
post it
Nobody wants to discuss it because it's impossible. The anti-troon squad is shitting on it because of the main-menu option.
So it affects nothing then? There is no extra content (trash or not) but it also doesn't matter that it's there? What you're saying is that it was a cowards throwaway choice to waste time adding it into the game as fake lipservice? Why would I waste time or money on a cowards game?
>It means literally nothing.
>I will not play it then.
It changes the pronouns of the player. If you're a guy, you're referred to as him. If you're a troon, you're referred to as them.
Why the frick isn't this game mulitplayer? Are they fricking moronic?
>start game
>create character
>leter, turns out a party member has the exact same name as my character
>cant play game anymore, urge to restart
what a weird coincidence. first time this ever happens to me.
The curse of being called Mohammed.
Who is it?
Aria
OH FOR FRICK SAKE
that was my fricking transition name too
The magic combat looks like tech casting from the original PSO (2000) but somehow slower, while the rest of the game is faster. What the frick is that shit.
No one cares
it's trash
I saw it in Piratebay, maybe I’ll grab it and let you know
>that combat
>that first boss magnetic attacks
really now
Do you Black folk really end your day at 6pm when the game tells you to?
unrelated but I just tried the actraiser remake and it was so fricking aids I didnt even finish the first stage I hate how it looks and how it controls
I feel like the majority of the issues people have with this game ties back to the fact that it's 60 USD.
How much would you realistically be okay with paying for this level of quality? I can't imagine this should be priced any higher than 30 USD.
my issue is that it's bad, I haven't enjoyed a new release since SMTV, and this was meant to be the game I'd play the shit out of before Starfield and TES6. I guess I am moronic for believing their Harvest Moon / FF marketing lies.
Square Enix are lazy dickless buttholes
>can't imagine this should be priced any higher than 30 USD.
I cant inagine the game being priced higher than 20. Fricking Sakuna in all its perfection costs $30
>I feel like the majority of the issues people have with this game ties back to the fact that it's 60 USD.
That and Square's localized pricing is shit. Atlus is similar. Only Bamco, Capcom, and Sega seem to really consider the locale when doing localized pricing. At least on Steam.
I won't play games with bizarre cult propaganda inserted into them.
What's the romance like?
Romance?
There isn't any, once you beat the game you get to choose a roommate to live with you there's no romance involved it's purely platonic and uninteresting
Nu Square Enix games are shit. The music is always good though.
I heard it's kinda underwhelming combat wise and farming is not well done as well. It's a shame because after Rune Factory 5 was deemed as not as good as RF4, some said RF5 felt low budget, Harvestella kinda came across as Squeenix's attempt at a higher budget farming meets action RPG game in the veins of Rune Factory or even Stardew Valley
Downloading it right now since it recently went up on my regular torrent sites.
