>Has a very atmospheric almost movielike score
>No music within the game
Also the game would be 4x times better if the enemies had those taunts like "Nimbul will show you his big black wiener!" from BG1

I'm fairly sure that's EE addition.
Nope.
Icewind Dale in general is an example of wasted potential
>most beautiful backgrounds and areas in IE games
>best itemization
>amazing music
>all wasted on a simulator for combat that will never be good due to engine problems (pathfinding being the most famous) with almost next to no dialogue or ability to roleplay
what could have been
>with almost next to no dialogue or ability to roleplay
Compared to Baldurs Gate? I have yet to come into a situation where my characters class could affect the outcome of the dialog and give some extra options.
>with almost next to no dialogue or ability to roleplay
But when there is dialogue it's more text heavy than Baldurs Gate. You already can see a glimpse of the exhausting Obsidian writing.
I wouldn't say that. BG1 was pretty damn verbose. Though little of what was said was actually meaningful or memorable.
Guys like this one were the exception. But in IWD the few npcs are talking are talking too much.
>Guys like this one were the exception.
Not really, many random NPCs had several paragraphs, you just don't remember it because in all those words there was very little substance.
In contrast IWD has 1 or 2 loredumps per chapter, sometimes from the bosses themselves just before the battle.
Literal joke character with comedically verbose ramblings
Another comedic buffoon who is depicted talking before thinking
What's next, noober maybe?
When every chacter is a comedic buffoon maybe whole game is a joke?
>why don't you accept my cherrypicking REEE
It's lighthearted fantasy pulp, literally attempting to simulate an actual TTRPG experience, but picking some of the more obviously comedic and eccentric character dialogues and trying to pass it off as representative of the general tone of most of the writing is disingenious as frick.
>attempting to simulate an actual TTRPG experience
and it fails on that front, both by contemporary standards (not enough MCU or Rick&Morty references) and by lates 90s standards (not enough Monty Python references)
don't you dare compare reddit&troony to monty python
it's been referenced to death and is obviously dated material, but they are on another planet compared to the nasally voiced sex pest

What did he mean by this?

was this thread made by someone who eats paint?
Probably downloaded a rip of the game off some old warez site or something
icewind dale is just a meat grinder game. It has absolutely no focus on the story, only combat + eventual puzzles.
If you figured your way of what works well in combat, you just go through this game as a "fullbuff simulator".
Although I'd love to play through it using that "Icewind dale in Baldur's Gate" mod.
you are right anon. Maybe this is the factor. Baldurs Gate had good written fluff dialogues. Icewind Dale was more wiki lore dumps.
>>No music within the game
The frick you taking about?
I like Icewind Dale because it has a level cap instead of an experience cap, allowing you to create game breaking triple classers.
