I guess first impressions matter, it was fucked 2 years ago, now the main issue is lack of content because they spent the past year fixing shit
It's not fucked, but it does feel like one step forward, two back at times. Like the upcoming effective gear reset is not going down well given what a fucking slog it is to get BIS. I think part of the problem is that the MMO community has now become homogeneous in expectations, and so anything that clashes with that mentality of carrot chasing goes down poorly.
Given there's no sub, it's worth picking up on sale and playing casually. But if you're looking for that "one game", the game to lose your life to while chasing the dragon and that dopamine hit, it might not be best to stay away.

depends on what you want, it's action combat so it relies more on positioning and reflexes than your average tab target or assisted mmo. you might think only having 6 skills is limiting but since the fights are so fast paced it's not really much of an issue at least pvp-wise

They did the impossible in an mmo. 99% of the characters are men. They made the female character models so repulsive no one even thinks of using them.
I really enjoyed the "preview" periods.
When the game was fresh and people were clueless : you had very fun open pvp because everyone was on an even playing field.
I supposed the last open beta burned it out for me as the replayability is quite poor and running around gathering shit for hours is not really fun.

I got it at release and played it 300 hours, was hoping they'd fix it. The combat is bad, pve and pvp, played a lot of war, outpost rush and dueling and they aren't that good, the quests and game are boring, they didn't make an asian server so all the chinks joined the australian servers and ruined the game for us. Idk I guess it's not that bad if I played it that long but it's just not what it could have been.

No, next weapon is aparently either a gauntlet or a one handed blunt weapon, then probably pistols. They just added greatsword so it will be a while before we get another edged melee weapon

These are the same devs who only had to design a few small cities and still managed to copy paste half of them.
Aiming isn't fun, they should have made it like a Souls where you have a lock-on and only aim occasionally.

I just really dislike when my characters actions are tied to the camera and you constantly have to rotate it to do anything, it makes melee combat particularly bad. Might as well be an FPS.
