It really was the last great generation of consoles. There were some fantastic games in the next generation but nowhere nearly as across the board and in quantity as the PS2/GameCube/Xbox gen. And it was all downhill from there
PC took over in the late 7th gen and the generations have been PC centric ever since. And thank god for that btw, I dont have to deal with console cancer.
>the generations have been PC centric
Lol
Lmao
Every AAa game is made for controllers and gimped to make sure it can run on consoles. Games come to pc more frequently now, but when you're designing a multiplat game you're gonna design it for the most restrictive system it's gonna be on, which is to say consoles.
We are living in a world where Baldur's Gate 3 managed to steal the spotlight from the big blockbuster Bethesda RPG despite barely functioning on consoles.
You're essentially saying that they go to the settings.ini file and setting everything to low or off, that is not indicative of being made for consoles. Lmao >Games come to pc more frequently now
Understatement.
much like everything else gaming became mainstream and with that came the grifters and opportunists. With time it slowly became a shadow of it's former self and now it is plagued with these "people".
Indie games help a little but not nearly enough.
Attempting to constantly increase profits, such as chasing any trends that might have worked for one game but not for every game and microtransactions everywhere. Complete and total risk aversion, meaning most genres are just straight up ignored, just look at RTS, and anything that isn't conventional is avoided. Rising costs of developments, larger teams because of the sheer amount of work that goes into graphics and Lots of game companies moved to california and it's fucking expensive to have property there.
Even 2007 PS3 had Warhawk and Tools of Destruction. The PS4 didn't even get its only exclusive until 2 years after launch and the PS5 is following suit
Tools at least had some challenge to the gameplay and arena design. Rip aFart is snooze inducing even on the highest skill because of how bland and symmetrical every combat arena is
2010 was the turning point for sure. PS3 started building a pretty noticeable variety of games. It doesn't matter what you were into, the PS3 likely had a game you could enjoy regardless of your tastes. That was the year when owning one was actually worthwhile.
It's been years now and the PS4's only worthwhile game is still just Bloodborne.

>got a mint fat PS2 >got a slim as well just to make my own freemcboot memory card >did the (proper) SSD mod >got the noctua fan mod >built my own GBS-C >played it for like 15 minutes and haven't touched it since
yes it is sexo
There wasn't a single console from that generation which had a bad library of games.
Now there's not a single console from this generation with a good one.
What the fuck happened?
wokism
women and zoomers. not to mention the israelites
Based unbiased 6th gen console enjoyer. Console wars are gay and modern games are shit.

The exception that proves the rule.

The Xbox, The Gamecube and Dreamcast weren't that much better.
Experimentalism and mid-size studios died in favor of billion tier behemoths and indie one-man-armies

shame about its descendant though :/.
How much better would the ps5 be if it maintained a catalog similar to the ps2?
we used to bully the triple for nogaems but man it looks like the PS2 compared to modern consoles.
PS3 had nogames in 2007, it was a different story by 2010.
Even 2007 PS3 had Warhawk and Tools of Destruction. The PS4 didn't even get its only exclusive until 2 years after launch and the PS5 is following suit
>no gaems 3 but it had 4 mediocre titles by the time it's dead
:O
>no gaems 4 only 2 exclusives
:/
>
>Tools of Destruction
Rift Apart was better. But I guess it got ported so it doesn't count any more.

My ps2 controllers collect dust. Every time I bust this bad boy out I use it for ps1 games.
I bought my PS2 from a friend and got Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 with it
Shovelware console with about 6 good games. 2 of which are Dreamcast ports and one if which is a Gamecube port.
Xbox was a good console. 360 kind of was, the jump to 720p ruined it. And it was a bit early.
QRD on modless burned DVD reading? MVG made a video about it a couple years ago but it doesn't seem like there are any updates since?
It still works on slim consoles
for fat consoles you'll need a FMCB memory card
>99.9% jrpg jap shit
ps2 had more variety in genres than any console since. if you're bitching about jrpgs it's because you're only looking for jrpgs
>open up PS2 library on any rom site
>oh wow, its nothing but jrpgs
You dont have to go looking for it, bucko
out of the top 50 highest rated ps2 games on metacritic there are 3 JRPGs. you are the retard.
retard
Embarrassing. If you said PS1, you might have a better argument
