I have several bags full of design documents. Have you even put your idea to paper yet?

Also if you actually had a good idea you don't even need to dev it anymore you can make a YouTube video over your desgin document and make a decent chunk of change for not having to actually make a game.

I uploaded it to itch.io last saturday. I just want feedback from the demo.

        Thanks anon.

For all the people here that have an idea, these are my tips: Don't start with your dream game, it will be a mess because you don't have the technical experience nor the management experience. Do a small project with a small scope, a barely functional game with something you like. You will get experience and start to understand how game development works.

Personally I did all the backend for this and a friend of mine did the front, so I did things I liked to do like the mechanics, inventory management, etc. I hate frontend with a passion, so having someone to do that work for me facilitates a lot of things.

The other great barrier about development was the art, you can't make a game without art. I used AI to create allmost all assets you see in the game including monsters, backgrounds, equipments, card art, etc.

I literally can't do this captcha

there are game dev communities everywhere. most of the ones in it are likely just as bad as you are. stop using that as an excuse
but if you're really going to hide behind that pathetic excuse, do as the other anon said. post links to your dolphin porn and let people call it shit

I don't want to do blatant shilling as I'm doing right now, I don't care if you criticize it, it is going to be shitty, that's a given because I still lack experience. Better to release a game that has a lot of things to improve rather that not releasing anything at all and abandoning another project

Quick question. Suppose I find an guy working in his bedroom and he needs 6 months to develop a product. I can finance him around 20k for that period of time. In the grand scheme of game development, is that kind of investment worthless? I mean, would it actually help him? If it really doesn't help anything I'd rather not give this individual any money at all and look to other industries and hobbyist who can use 20k to make a product. I just need a basic answer.

If you gave op that money you wouldn't get any return on your investment. Like most failed men he'd procrastinate and then have an anxiety attack over it.

        That's my first thought anon
I was the financer for a band a few years ago, and they made a return via their merchandising and I made around 2k on top of my initial investment. I don't talk to them anymore but it was a really positive experience (it was an experiment). I want to know if I can find that same experience in game development. If I'm simply too poor that's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Think that when it comes to game development, you'd at least wanna see a working prototype before laying any sort of money on the table. Even then, it's kind of a crapshoot considering even well-polished games sometimes fall through the crack due to a complete lack of awareness of its existence. Might be a good idea considering helping fund advertising an almost complete game rather than funding the development of a game that won't be complete in the near future, I think. Wouldn't know where to look for the latter, but you should be able to find a bunch of dev teams working on their game on twitter just by browing the tags.

That depends heavily where he is, what is he working on and whether he made any projects before.
If he is some 3rd worlder with nothing is definitely gonna be a scam. Couldn't you just agree to finance him with 3k a month for 6 months as long as he shows some work is actually being done?
