It's possible. They've done every other property in Mega Man and there's three games. Sure it'd be the most difficult to port but we've seen it done with other ps1 games

    >Legends 1
    >Can get all the weapons, items and buster upgrades in the game by finding parts around the game world/ruins, talking to npcs or doing sidequests, and the only item you really need to buy at the junk shop is the flak jacket

    >Legends 2
    >Need to pass the obnoxious S class digger test
    >To get the S class permit
    >To then walk back to the Flutter
    >To talk to Roll
    >To move to Manda Island
    >To go in and out of the sub-ruin until a certain enemy pattern is picked from the dungeon RNG
    >To walk through 4 doors
    >To kill a giant golden bird, walk out of the room, then back in and kill it again, over and over and over, to grind for zenny
    >So you can complete all the sidequests that require you to pay zenny
    >And to get parts to build any new weapon or buster upgrade (most of which are now only available via the junk shop)
    >Most of which are also not available to buy right away and are unlocked as you progress through the story, forcing you to buy one item, then grind for a slightly better one later, or just buy a frickton of canteens
Besides the story having too many different places and subplots crammed into it in quick succession while at the same time leaving quite a few things unresolved, as well as the water dungeon being so taxing on the PSX that it actually runs slower than it actually should (thus being very fricking tedious), MML2 removed the focus of dungeons exploration in favor of grinding. Grinding that IS required to make progress in some parts of the game.

The best method around is to kill the Golden King Miroc Reaverbot over and over in one of the dungeons. Kill, walk out the door, walk back in, kill it again, over and over and over. Trust me when I tell you: If you really want to play it, and at any point you get tired of grinding, just gameshark it for infinite money and move on with it. It's not worth the effort.

I heard they rebalanced the absurd Zenny costs of everything in the PSP port. I still love MML2 but they really dropped the ball on some of their design choices.

The MOST offensive thing to me was that there was no elevator from the entrance to the final boss fight back to the entrance of the final dungeon. They even had a structure set up between each floor on your way down that looked exactly like a placeholder for a fricking elevator. I know it seems like something petty to gripe about, but I hold the MML games in high regard and to see something like triggered me big time.

Some more side quests like the ones in the first game (helping that crippled chick, the pregnant lady, the police car chase, etc.) would have been nice as well. Seems like they focused way more on fleshing out the story/lore and forgot to add more detailed interactions for world-building.

  10. 11 months ago

One of the things I loved about MML1 was the island you were marooned on. It was big, complex, and you spend the entire post-tutorial game on it. You have a lot of time to get attached to Kattelox Island, its quirks, and its people. As you progress through the game, the island opens up to you and gives you more to explore, not just in the city but also underground in the ruins, and it was really cool to see how almost all the underground ruins connected to each other, able to reach the "big" ones by entering through one of the smaller ones.

MML2 doesn't have that. You're mostly island hopping throughout most of the game, with almost no attachment to the places you go to or the people in them. In fact, a good number of them are rather annoying, like the two brats you need to escort, and almost everyone on fricking Nino Island. The atmosphere and environmental art also went in a completely different direction. MML1 felt like an adventure in an unknown land full of mystery and uncertain with its musical (or lack thereof) ambience, whereas MML2 felt like a Saturday morning cartoon no matter where you went (aside from the Residential Area in Elysium).

Also, frick the Digger tests. All I had to do to get those in MML1 was flex against the Bonnes and save everyone. I do that in MML2 against Glyde and I STILL need to do your bullshit tests? No thanks.

Why won't Capcom just make Legends 3 with a modest budget? They've made so many big budget flops, but won't take a moderate risk on something people have wanted for decades. Legends was the kind of series that would really benefit from current technology to be a smoother and more fast paced experience. As much as I like the the series, the games were always pretty stiff and janky.

This dungeon has been the most fun until this moronic mini-game showed up, seemed entirely pointless, there's no timer and it was easy, just more filler.

This isn’t supposed to be your fricking blog, dude.

                Eat shit. 🙂

Yeah they're mini games, they're usually timed and even tell you 'mission start', they're games inside of games you can fail. a mini game

                I also like 1 more.
I also stalled on parts of 2 and realize the game has faults.
I don’t however agree with your excessive nipticks nor do I see the point of it. If you honestly don’t like it that much, why even bother playing it. It’s a fricking game, you don’t play them if you don’t enjoy them. You won’t get anything else from doing it.

because i want to say i beat it, its not all bad but the pacing is shit

I guess 1 is more "comfy" with the one island.

MML flows better and is inherently more replayable. MML2 is more story driven. I don't replay MML2 either, I don't have to make excuses for it. MML2 is an amazing game but MML is simply better at being replayable. If I was disrupted in my attempt to finish MML2 the first time I would likely have not finished the game either, assuming I knew the rest of the plot through the internet or something.

Really the issue with Tron Bonne is the lack of a mission where she sends red cap to get her some tampons and a screw driver.

That's not how her outfit works. Also I don't know wtf is going on with the right, pink bands around her thighs and stuff. I'm mad jelly over her outfit, can't wear that kind of thing irl but wish we could.

i have played mml1 roughly half a dozen times. always appreciate it.

ive never finished mml2. i always get about 1/2 or 3/4 of the way through and quit out of sheer boredom. none of the new antagonists are interesting and they only take time away from the bonnes who are the real stars of the show.

broken level design (bigger "world" but feels smaller because all the generic themed dungeons), mini-games and set-pieces that suck, annoying npcs, etc, etc. it certainly controls better than mml1 but thats about it?

i do at least have memories of doing the quiz game with my brother during christmas without the help of the internet. and ofc the reward you get is something that isnt intrinsically valuable in itself. and when you can make the blade weapon it requires a frick ton of zenny to upgrade. somehow playing kick the dog over and over again in mml1 never really bothered me as much as grinding in mml2.

i even tried playing it again two years ago and stalled out. yet again.

Damn, I made this thread just expecting people to shit all over my idea of never finishing it despite trying it but actually surprised how many others ended up feeling the same way I do.

Currently just forcing myself through it just to say I've beaten it and know what the whole game was about when I get free time.

Imagine a world where the awe-inspiring adventures of Mega Man Volnutt continue to captivate us, where we traverse vast landscapes, battling formidable Reaverbots, and unearthing the mysteries of ancient ruins. Alas, this utopia remains but a tantalizing dream, forever out of reach!

Just envision the possibilities, my friends. Mega Man Legends 3 would have transported us to a realm of unparalleled wonder, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and gameplay in ways we could never fathom. The rich lore, endearing characters, and immersive world-building would have enraptured us, granting us countless hours of joy and escapism!

But lo and behold, this majestic opus was cruelly snatched away from us. The universe, devoid of justice, conspired to rob us of this gem. Its cancellation left a void in our hearts, an abyss that cannot be filled by mere re-releases and remasters. We were left yearning for closure, craving answers to questions left unresolved.

The absence of Mega Man Legends 3 is an injustice that echoes through the ages! It's a travesty that resonates deep within our souls, an indescribable pain that words fail to capture adequately. We are left to wander through the realms of imagination, crafting stories in our minds that can never truly replace the real thing.

Its good in the early game, especially in the birdbot missions, but it stops being useful later on.

I love ML2 but it always felt unsettling to me.
Almost every location felt depressing for one reason or another. Like the world's already long gone and the people you meet are just waiting to die.
Didn't have that feeling with the first one.

I've beaten the first one multiple times too but have failed to get into the second after multiple attempts.
I think it's the intro, it's long and story heavy with no actual gameplay and then you get thrown into the town just to dive into more story.
What were they thinking, going for more than half an hour without any actual combat in a MegaMan game?
I'm sure one of these days I'll be able to make it past the intro to the actual game and hopefully the pacing improves once you get going.

1 just had more soul. It took me a few tries to play through MML2 in its entirety but I sort've forced myself to one day. It is actually a pretty good game, but the first is still better.
