A friend lent me Fire Red and he sort of just forgot about it. Never gave it back to him.
On another instance, I remember one time I was redeeming an Xbox points card and for some reason I was reading out the code while in party chat with a friend and I realized halfway through so I muted myself and my friend confessed he was planning on stealing the code

No, but I had several of my games stolen from me. Used to trade/swap games with other kids in the town, that way we all had more to play without buying them, but two of those motherfrickers just never gave me my games back. Denied taking them.

Personally, I have no qualms "pirating" because I think that the ownership and sale of ideas is a ridiculous capitalist concept that is arbitrarily protectionist and does nothing to help society. If someone can redistribute your good by copying it so easily, maybe you shouldn't be trying to make money that way.

        >but Anon! Big companies would stop making video games! We would only have hobbyists making them and lose all our triple-A investment-funded games!
        Good.

That said, I haven't actually bothered to "pirate" any games besides old ROMs and ISOs in almost a decade. It's just easier for me to buy stuff on Steam, purely so I don't have to manage my inventory of games through keeping torrents or long-term storage of the games on disk. Steam makes it really easy for me to delete and redownload most large newer games.

You could be saving yourself tons of money if you invested in a few large HDDs to store repacks or whatever. HDD space is the cheapest its ever been while video game prices are skyrocketing.

Someone borrowed sonic unleashed from me, and said "don't worry bro, i'll return it, you can borrow red dead redemption in return!"

Of course he never came back, and some people would say I got a good deal, but frick red dead redemption.

I was at my cousins house and this was in the generation of PS2, Xbox 360, and Gamecube. I love the SNES so I would go and take his SNES games that he didn't even play anymore. It was better they went with me anyway because I saved them from the trash or probably being sold to someone else who would throw them in the trash.

I did this with maybe 8 games before I decided to ask his mom if I could have the rest of them since he didn't play them anymore and she wanted me to buy them for $20. I saved the rest of the worthwhile ones and left him with the sports ones and super mario world.

They are sitting in my drawer safe and sound right under my SNES that I was playing just last weekend 🙂

By the time I thought of doing that the games were already in those glass cases with the locks or the games would be in the back and the cases would be empty and just for show. Does it still count as stealing if I kept some kid's game after he let me borrow it and I just refused to give it back and he was too much of a pussy to do anything? I still have the game and I still play it from time to time.
