No you retard, you didn't play through every main encounter, progress the story yourself, make any meaningful choices in story or combat, you just watched some chucklefuck do it.
That's like saying you're a pro basketball player because you watch basketball games on TV.
>Watched a playthrough?
Yes >Does that count as beating it?
Absolutely not, unless it's a walking sim, visual novel, or something similar that requires literally no skill.
I watched a 15 minute review where the youtuber spoiled every story point and told me how to make the game's challenge a joke with an exploit
Pretty sure that counts as having beaten it right
Watching a full game playthrough without playing it can give you enough insight to discuss it with others. No way it even remotely counts as beating it.
the .hack series
the games are fucking unbearable to play but the premise is actually quite interesting (unfortunately the execution of this premise is also absolutely piss-poor, the entire franchise is such wasted potential)
Im not a zoomer why the fuck would I watch some cuck play something. Though in this case you are the cuck for watching them.
Unironically touch grass or do drugs or something
You probably ditched the thread, but it’s because he was the most personal villain, and had the most build up. A smaller cast of characters (Morgana, Ryuji, Ann) meant that they could deliver a more focused narrative around the first palace/villain. Additionally, his crime is probably the worst, because it is by far the most realistic. You could envision Kamoshida existing irl, but a few chapters later, and you’re facing off against the head of a megacorp, or a drug kingpin.
I watched Soma. At first I was just looking at gameplay vid to see if it was something I would like, then I realised its juts a story with no game adn got into the story. Literally no difference watching ti to playing it anyway.
You can't beat a game you didn't play, you just saw the ending. There's no evil in that, I'm not here to punch your fucking game ticket or put a stamp in your book, but it's not the same.
Games like Phoenix Wright or AI Somium Files are not really difficult if you're not a retard and only annoying parts are pixel hunts. Watching a video playthrough lets you enjoy the entire game as I often know what to present or say before the content creator does.
Games with non existant fun gameplay like 13 Sentienls too. The game deserved to bomb with how boring the battles are in the game.
Yes, I watched the Giant Bomb Endurance Run of Persona 4 long before I ever played it. Still haven't beaten it myself. I also watched Gopher's LP of Alien: Isolation because I'm a pussy and can't play horror games.
Most games that are literally just dialogue and very little gameplay, sure. But at that rate you're better off just pirating it.
Murder mystery games are the exception because watching it instead of playing it removes your immersion and makes it so you don't have to think.
Yes
>does it count as beating it
Yes
Of course not. You didn't even play the game.
so if it played it for an hour then watched the rest it would count?

No.
Yeah. It's usually for games I'm curious about but know I'll never buy.
Mainly God of War 4. And Persona 5, funnily enough.

Yeah.
>does it count as beating it?
No, it doesn't Retard.
No. And no.

Only time I’ve ever done that was for all the bullshit kingdom hearts side games. Ain’t nobody but commuting salarymen got time for that.
Metal Gear Solid 2. I just don't enjoy playing that game and ended watching most of it on youtube.
have you ever watched porn?
does it count as losing your virginity?
How come Kamoshida was the only good villain in Persona 5

Yes, The Last of Us: Part 2. I have zero interest in that series and love bigot sammies. Yes I did beat it because I watched it.
I've watched some This is How You Don't Plays before, so yes, I guess. Fell off on watching them, a lot of the editing was kinda lame.
Absofuckinglutely Not.

No you fucking zoomer cuck. How is that even up for debate. You beat the game when you play it from start to finish, without major skips.
if it's a movie game, yes
but then are movie games really games?
>Have you ever watched a game playthrough without playing it?
No.
>does it count as beating it?
No.
If the game is a book, aka the gameplay is shit, and there are either no cutscenes or they are trash, then yes.
Depends on what game it is, Persona is 85% text so I'd say just watching a playthrough is good enoug.
Yes. Only games I don't have a care of ever playing. And No it doesn't.
>tfw watched DSP's raw unedited lets play of Resident Evil 4 from long ago
