This game would never be as good if it weren't a Twin Peaks rip off.

      FK's DP? Sure.
FK's D4? I wish SWERY had the chance to complete the game so we can know for sure.

Deadly Premonition does adapt a bunch of random stuff from Twin Peaks like the premise and random characters but it tells a very original story and has a very different vibe and appeal.

It's a fun little swery adventure but it's the first episode of an episodic game. They never got to make a second episode.

It's a Kinetic point-and-click adventure game in the same vein as the works of Telltale. But more than that, it has some challenging minigames as part of the core story. SWERY's special brand of weirdness that made Deadly Premonition such a cult hit gives this game an identity all it's own. His unique style pervades through every part of it. The interactive story is instantly gripping. Unique themes are prevalent throughout and the tone is constantly shifting. Moments can range from serious and emotional, to goofy or downright odd. The eccentric characters are very lovable and I personally felt genuine connection to all of them after completing the game. The atmosphere is incredible with some catchy BGM and strange ambiance that will absorb you in a welcoming yet wacky journey. Also it has shitloads of extra content that enrich the world via interacting with items and reading the trivia. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it ends on such a massive cliffhanger and that's because he had some kind of an issue with AccessGames which led to his departure and to form his own studio, which means D4 will probably stay incomplete.

It fucking hurts and SWERY said on Twitter that he's satisfied with the "ending". I just hope he cuts the bullshit and gets around writing a sequel in a book format or something so we can have a closure.

Fine, I'll give it a try. It's cheap on Steam rn.

              >People have nostalgia for this low-mid trash
              >People are suffering from Stockholm syndrome over getting cliffhung
              >People don't remember that the game released with a season pass that entitled buyers to the entire *planned* first season which died halfway through and no refunds were issued

lol, lmao, fell for the psyop.

        >has a very different vibe and appeal
the whole vibe and appeal of DP is the fact that it's literally a David Lynch video game

Its different vibe and appeal can be really explained by it being a Japanese product under a Japanese lens. It's not easy to unpack Lynch when you're looking at it as a westerner. Now you take some moron who just doesn't get the original material and combine that with certain video game sensibilities (or, really, lack there of in the case of DP) and you have this absolute and fundamental mess of a game that also runs like total dogshit.

People always say soul is code for nostalgia or a good game. Deadly Prem is an example that a game does not have to be old or even good to have soul.
