I may be moronic
yes op we know your moronic
only a moron needs hacks to enjoy a game lmfao
moron
This game's map design was absolute trash, genuinely CotM tier. The crafting system was also absolute trash and completely against the vania spirit. Julius mode was the only saving grace of this game. It's not even close to Aria.
Nah anyone who complains about the stylus sections are complete shitters and probably played this an emulator like soulless cretins. Best castlevania game of all time
The Harmony of Despair version of yhat song is amazing. The DoS OST is 10/10 and I don't get why people call it crap when AoS, while good, is stiffled by the GBA sound chip or whatever. https://youtu.be/i9G9i8prFS4
I love DoS very much. The OST is amazing and I don't get why people say it is a shit game, besides the gimmick touchscreen and the character art being a downgrade. https://youtu.be/Xi87mE7z-WA
>I don't get why people say it is a shit game, besides the gimmick touchscreen and the character art being a downgrade
The castle layout sucks and the warp points are in mostly useless positions
The story and new characters suck
The drop rates are cancerous and this makes going for 100% soul collection significantly more tedious than in Aria, never mind the system of powering up from dupes on top of that
The only things Dawn really has going for it over Aria are the soul sets improving the gameplay and the graphics.
Good taste.
Cursed Clock Tower is one of the best Castlevania songs.
Typical Ganker contrarian post
i wish i knew about this before playing the game on an emulator its such a hassle
Just get a version that automatically does the magic seal when a boss is finished.
i gave up and watched someone playing the game on youtube a speedrun
>touchscreen
I haven't even played the game and I already don't want to. Why do Nintendo fans defend the worst fricking control schemes?
you don't have any idea what you're talking about
the touch screen in dawn of sorrow is only used after you kill a boss to "seal" it, you draw a symbol on the bottom screen and if you frick up you have to try again after damaging the boss a bit more
it IS objectively moronic but it's not a "control scheme", it's just a gimmick shoehorned in because the game came out early in the DS's life cycle when everyone was doing stuff with the touch screen even when it didn't make any sense
I recently played the advanced collection, which was my first time with the titles. I had a blast and can't wait for the DS collection to come to modern consoles.
It was novel at the time but it gets old and repetitive and nowadays it's nothing special.
I remember reading about touchscreen gimmicks and implementations on game magazknes and thinking "that's pretty cool!" but now kids go "so what?"
Weakest of the DS castlevanias exploration just felt pointless since you never find anything cool you just grind whatever souls you need to upgrade the weapon type you want to play with
Never played any of the DS Castlevanias. What were the touch screen controls? Is it something as moronic as Phantom Hour Glass/Spirit Tracks?
The games had minimal touchscreen uses (PoR has an extra mode where you play as the villains and their controls are fully touchscreen) so they just play as regular igavanias with small touchscreen gimmicks.
It's not something as extreme as zelda or ninja gaiden
Sounds reasonable enough. What sort of gimmicks? Any particular examples?
You can't kill bosses normally, after reducing their health a seal appears on the touchscreen and you have to draw the lines on it in time to kill them. If you fail they regain like 1/4 of their HP and you have to bring it down again to make the seal appear again.
Aside from that there are also various environmental objects that you need to touch with the touchscreen to interact with, the main one being random ice blocks you break.
It's all just a shitty gimmick that drags the game down.
Yeah I can see why people would want to patch that out. Gimmicks for gimmicks' sake.
I'm not going to lie I kept forgetting seals
But I'd only use a drop rate hack since all the good shit is obscenely low
Wasn't there something up with the translation of this game. Or am I misremembering?
Advanced collection shadow dropped around last Halloween right? And the other collection was two years prior. That should mean the ds games compilation is coming this halloween or next I suppose.
