This game is a boring piece of shit.
I mean, I'm really impressed, insane Kodjima is a talented game designer and he managed to make a walking simulator full of different mechanics.
But it's still a fucking boring piece of shit.
And people are complaining about RDR2, lmao. They obviously never tried Death Stranding.
Carry weight was never an issue in Death Stranding, nor was anything regarding sorting or balancing inventory since that shit had an auto-sort button.
Such a lame ass fucking game where all of its core gameplay elements are rendered irrelevant by some robot legs and a truck that can fucking jump.
>you need to keep an eye on your inventory and not just smash the grab button
WOOOOOWWW
Starfield really filters the fakers never play bethesda game this has been bethesda game inventory for decades
The game doesn't slow you down, just has you getting short of breath faster. In Fallout or The Witcher, if you start picking up trash you will get slow and be forced to do inventory management against your will.
The problem with StarField, at least for people like Sakurai, is that the game just pops up a warning and you feel no consequences, until you're in combat, that is.
ok? the inventory is still garbage. they've been doing this for 20 years and you still can't search for or subgroup items. can't send stuff directly to cargo in cities so you get overweight stocking up on mats. doesn't let you know which mats you already have on person or in cargo when buying or picking things up. and the o2 thing is arguably worse than slowing you down because the consequence is you have to sit there and wait.
>the inventory is still garbage
You have tabs for everything, how is that complicated to you? It's too much of a hassle to scroll down instead of using Misc?

Anonymous
did you stop reading after the first sentence? also there's so many more items in this game than previous ones there's no excuse for 400+ items being lumped in the same category and being forced to scroll through it. divying up mats between subcategories of minerals, organics, components, etc. would go a long way.

> The Witcher,
DA BITCHER?! Look moron. Witcher 1 has a PC optimized inventory and also doesnt have this mechanic. So the only Witcher that matters
The problem with Starfield inventory management is that it makes you think that you need to hoard all the resources just in case you'd need them later to upgrade your weapon and armor or research to unlock better upgrades, and under normal circumstances inventory is very limited.
So you either have to know that there's an unlimited storage somewhat hidden in the Lodge or learn that you can just buy those resources at NPC vendors, and they're not even that expensive so it's not worth it to hoard all the resources you find.
>So you either have to know that there's an unlimited storage somewhat hidden in the Lodge or learn that you can just buy those resources at NPC vendor
So... you have to play the game? The horror...
>under normal circumstances inventory is very limited.
Dumb moron, you type as if you've never played anything but Fortnite your whole life. First of all, you can press T to dump all resources into your cargo hold at the cargo terminal of your ship. Second of all, if you have more than 40 of a resource, sell until you have 40, you don't need more than that for upgrades. Third of all, you can sell directly from your ship's cargo hold at any vendor. Fourth of all, cargo holds are cheap as dirt, so "inventory" is not limited under normal circumstances.
too bad they added twenty (20) types of ammunition to the game (but only 50 or so weapons) so you have to carry at least five different guns around, and made all their crafting components rare so you've got to pick up random useless shit and take it back to the ship just in case it's needed for the next dildo you make
Nobody likes that as a game mechanic, it doesn't ruin a game for me alone but I never thought anything like "I'm so glad my inventory had a weight limit, It'd be so shit if I could just hoard shit".
>Nobody likes that as a game mechanic
Humans enjoy limitations and overcoming them. Your inventory is like a puzzle. If you pick up 5000 styrofoam cups, you're making it harder for yourself on purpose. >"I'm so glad my inventory had a weight limit, It'd be so shit if I could just hoard shit"
Unironically. If you could march into any situation with limitless resources, the impact of those challenges would be lost completely. Thinking ahead is fun.
They made it more tedious and annoying because your ship has a weight limit that depends on your cargo modules. As opposed to a home base is previous Bethesda titles where you're able to store junk in chests. When every other resource is 0.5 units it adds up quickly and this game is primarily about resource gathering.
People make infinite carry weight mods immediately for a reason, nobody likes inventory weight management except devs for some reason
Everything about the space travel breaks all known physics. But to have an option to send shit to the cargo hold? That's too far. Gotta keep things grounded man.
Oh i didn't know the ships also had a weight limit. Yes that's fucking retarded. You could store everything in chests in Skyrim. It should be the same here.
>Oh i didn't know the ships also had a weight limit. Yes that's fucking retarded
Why? It's NASA punk and actual NASA rockets do have very strict weight limits.
The weight limit doesn't apply to the pile'o junk you have forming in the bathroom of your space ship. Only contraband actually goes in the cargo hold.
Everything about the space travel breaks all known physics. But to have an option to send shit to the cargo hold? That's too far. Gotta keep things grounded man.
>not looting everything
Are there actually people who can't clear a dungeon while encumbered? Having a section of your craft dedicated to a towering pile of junk is so satisfying
inventory management and loot is the most boring shit in games. just dont have the patience for it, it's not interesting. maybe RE4's system at most. im enjoying baldur's gate 3 in spite of the awful inventory.
Imagine Sakurai making a game with the budget of shitfield while not being limited by the garbage specs of nintendo consoles, it would mog bethesda so hard they would have to close down their studios out of shame
He made a game with like 1% of the budget that people are playing decades later, people are struggling with playing Starfield for more than a couple hours. I think that's an even bigger mog.
It's how japanese talk.
If the only thing he has to say about the game is that some aspects of it are a nuisance, he most likely thinks the game is absolute garbage.
>It's how japanese talk. >If the only thing he has to say about the game is that some aspects of it are a nuisance, he most likely thinks the game is absolute garbage.
Too true, this is him being nice about it, but he's basically saying it's annoying to play.
I dunno, that feels like putting words in his mouth.
If he hated it would he have completed the game? I can only speak for myself, but if I don't enjoy a game enough to say I like it I'm not going to play more than a handful of hours. Isn't Starfield a large game?
>Get the skill to increase how much you can carry >Use armor that increases how much you can carry >Customize your ship to increase how much it can carry
I fail to see the problem.
just make it so you don't have to worry about it by default. Unless inventory management is actually key to the gameplay it serves no purpose to have it exist at all.
>the game is not fun without cheating
learned this the hard way recently forcing myself through Oblivion. even then, it was still fucking atrociously boring and ill-conceived.
>learned this the hard way recently forcing myself through Oblivion. even then, it was still fucking atrociously boring and ill-conceived.
that's a bethesda game for you, if you mod it (which might as well be cheating) it can be fun but without it they're just baseline fucking terrible.

> Find any legendary with assisted carry (-75% oxy use when encumbered) > realize this means if you find a mere five copies of the “-5% oxy use when encumbered” that sprinting while encumbered will be free.
It does work. You can become so skilled at being encumbered that you can ignore the stat.
the same reason i dropped Nioh after the first level, not going to worry about this shit or play with 0 dps but actualy being able to survive 1 shot from basic mob.
yep, that's all bethesda games.
The limiting of the inventory isnt even the problem, but the fact that it's so ill implemented.
A fucknig weight system means you have to think about what to throw away etc.
Slot-based inventories are a lot better. They are more visual so it doesnt feel like math homework when you have to organize your inventory.
And yes, the inventories are always a mess too. It says a lot that one of the most popular skyrim mods was a database-like mod to manage your inventory. Like, REALLY? How bad can it be that you need that garbage? lmao

Sorry Todd, you had literal decades to fix this stupid inventory system

Misc items are worthless. There are too many types of resources to track. Putting everything unnecessary into ship's cargo that's not a resource takes too much.

I liked it more when you had to buy or find attachments in New Vegas or STALKER, instead of having to craft everything.

It breaks your immersion to be able to just pick up everything and walk around with it. It's dumb. You need to consider stuff like that in an RPG, it's not just a bing-bing-wahoo button masher. Go play something else.
why tf do people pick up EVERYTHING? stop doing that shit and it's much more bearable. there is no reason to do so - just picking up dropped weapons is enough to get lots of money normally.
The audacity of this cocksucker to talk shit about inventory space when he implements weapon breakage mechanics into his game, not to mention the horrendous UI of his games.
Give him a break. His entire career revolves around creating children's games, until he got washed up and settled for just piggybacking on successful IPs.

I'm 60 hours in and I've barely spent any time on the inventory. But that's mostly because I immediately got weight lifting and made a 4000kg cargo hold. Worst bit of the inventory though is the Aid menu since there's so many trash food items that can stockpile if you're not paying attention
Shit like this is proof that the Japanese have never understood what an actual RPG is. They like turn based adventure games with leveling systems, not role playing.
it's also the same as fallout 4 in the aspect that you press R to track every single crafting ingredient in the game at the very beginning, because there is no reason not to, and because you don't want to have to remember the difference between what is valuable crafting resources and what is junk. the only difference is you are not allowed to have 10000 of everything unless you throw it untracked on the floor and that's dumb
also i was genuinely surprised to find out duct tape is junk this time around.
Is he talking about Death Stranding?
Death Stranding is the only game in history where the inventory and gameplay are so tightly linked. Fuck you.
backpack hero. It's indie, but the backpack is literally the gameplay.

Neutral in japanese is bad. Good in Japanese in neutral.
